We had a very poor mattress in our rental property. You could feel the springs everytime you moved. We bought this to make the bed comfier and it seems to have done the trick! Had this topper for over a year now and still just as comfy
Bought the topper to upgrade our few years old silentnight bed which was feeling a bit too hard lately. Money well spent. Make sure you get deeper sheets and prepare to fix them every day as the topper makes the sheets ride up. In summary not as good as buying a memory mattress from the beginning, but close enough.
If you a renter like me and scanning through various mattress topper reviews wondering whether this mattress topper will help at all in turning an old mattress into a normal bed, I hope you find this review helpful.
I read a variety of reviews trying to see if anyone had been through the same situation as me. I have never had a sore back from a mattress before but I moved into a new furnished unit with an old spring mattress. I did not want to buy a new mattress because what do I do with the old one?!
Reading through the reviews of many of the mattress toppers, this one tended to have good reviews. Yes there is a chemical smell but if you air it as your are supposed to this will fade over time. Check the dimensions UK versus other dimensions as my mattress topper was slightly too big but its effect has been incredible, turning an old spring bed which hurt my back into a comfortable bed (had this topper for about 2 months now). Just as I had hoped the mattress topper would do. The 5cm version was enough for me. Great solution for a rented unit with a terrible mattress.
I bought this mattress topper because of an old mattress in my rented room, which caused me sleepless night, due to me being able to feel every single spring. This mattress topper is amazing! I like how thick it is so it has increased the quality of my sleep immensely. It is so comfortable and feels like you’re sleeping on clouds. Good price point too! It does have a chemical smell but I hope it will air out after a while.
A perfect fit for our King Size bed, and stays in place well.
The ‘cover’ was less than perfect on arrival (some thread ‘pulls’) which was a bit disappointing, and I hope they won’t worsen after laundering. I have ‘deep’ fitted sheets (from M&S) and they fit neatly over the entire mattress with topper in situ.
The unusual odour of the topper does take a while to dissipate, but it was not really of great significance to us.
The topper has proved to vastly improve the comfort of our bed, it is very snuggly !

I have to have a hip replacement and this has eased the pain somewhat.
Product is slightly smaller than my standard double bed so the sleep space is slightly reduced.
Brought this for our caravan to make the sofa bed more comfortable. We’re used to a firm mattress so this was more to smooth out the lumps and bumps of sleeping on the sofa cushions – and it does!
It’s light weight and folds/rolls quite small (easy enough to store in the locker under the sofa). We gave up with the ‘cover’ which is essentially a fitted sheet, the problem is the sheet curls the topper up because it doesn’t weight enough to hold it down – so we just put the bed sheet over it without the cover. But I will get a proper zipped cover for it.
Purchasing this has meant my 88 yr old mum has finally had a decent nights sleep. No pressure on her heels, and much less pain in her hip thanks to the support provided by this mattress cover. Well worth the money, though not a bad price for quality.
This is such a comfortable mattress topper! I’ve have no issues with it sliding around or caving in the middle and I’ve had it since June. The only thign i will say is that my fitted sheets now have a hard time staying on as it cant fully wrap the corners of the mattress. I sleep well throughout the night and my back pain has significantly reduced since using the mattress
I have an orthopedic mattress which helps my bad back but I wanted something a little less ‘concrete flat’ as well. This takes the edge off the hardness but it also still allows the full support of my mattress.
Used throughout summer and didn’t leave me too sweaty but it’ll really come into its own during winter, I love it.
It came with a sort of cover as well which is good for cleaning.
I’d recommend checking your fitted sheet is deep enough to still cover both your mattress and the memory foam, I had to get an extra deep one for mine which isn’t an issue but it’s with bearing in mind in case you need one for the extra height.
I work nights so when I get back I don’t want to disturb the misses and sleep on the spare bed. It’s a 10 year old firm mattress that you can feel all the springs through and not great to sleep on. Was looking at mattresses like Otty, Eve etc to replace it with but decided to get a memory foam topper to see if I liked it. It has completely transformed my bed, I actually look forward to getting into it now! It has slightly more spring to it than other memory foams I have tried which is definitely a good thing as it holds its shape well.
I don’t know what those moaners are complaining about with the smell, you get a slight whiff (not unpleasant) straight out the packaging. I aired it out for a couple of hours before putting the cover on and putting it onto the bed. Not had a smell from it since.
If I had a softer mattress that was older I probably wouldn’t get a topper, I’d get a whole new mattress but for a firmer bed this has been amazing.
Its definitely not 5cm deep. But it is comfy. We have a very old mattress in our new rented property. This made it feel brand new. Really comfy but firm too.
Bought this for a rather firm bed and it’s great! The only thing is, leave it out in the fresh air for as many days as you can because, like all these roll up toppers and mattresses……they stink! Rather toxic! But once gone it’s great really comfy.
Double. Fits as expected but not as thick as obviously needed. Still get a backache but not as often. Never had any other problems with silentnight.

It’s a good topper for the price. However, it doesn’t have imprinted zones like my last topper and is less weighty so it does move on the mattress slightly.
Excellent quality. I thought I might need a thicker topper but this at 2″ is thick enough. Medium to firm and springs back to shape quickly . Have only used for two nights but slept much better and back ache much relieved . (purchased due to recent op). Only niggle hence 4 stars there is a slight smell . Not overpowering and is fading fast. Also cover is like a fitted sheet when I expected more of a pillow case style but it does the job . Overall very pleased but only time will tell re durability but it has a 2 year warranty so saved the wrapper!!!
Does not cure a bad mattress but definitely improves it. I have used this for a year and do miss it when I am away from home. The only issue I have is that it is impossible to use a mattress protector on top of this as well without having to buy deeper sheets.
My partner was sceptical when I suggested a mattress topper instead of a whole new (expensive) mattress. I new It would be better but even I was wowed by the sheer comfort this topper provided. Before our mattress was just too hard for me causing a lot of joint strain. Now we both get a peacefull nights rest in compfort. this mattress comes with a cover fits perfectly and feels great. I bought this mattress topper to go on top of our campervan bed mattress as it is like sleeping on rocks! The bed is typical of a camper or caravan and has the right hand corner rounded off. I thought I might have to cut this memory foam mattress to size but it doesn’t hang over enough to cause any problems.
I had forgotten to unpack, flatten and air the memory foam mattress before we set off on out first trip with it so was dreading having lumps and this well reported noxious smell when I opened it. Nervously I ripped open the packaging and laid out the memory foam mattress – no smell and it flattened out with ease. It’s a tiny bit too wide but this is a campervan “double” bed not a real life bed but we shoved it onto the corners – done!
The cover that comes with it is just an elasticated flat sheet that goes over the top so nothing complicated there.
I never sleep very well in the campervan especially at this time of year with the dawn chorus starting at 4am but at least this time out I was comfortably awake and it wasn’t the mattress’s fault, just the song birds.
I didn’t get too hot laid on it, but it was quite chilly on an evening, that said we did have a sheet, duvet and 2 blankets over us so we weren’t cold either. Maybe in the height of summer it might get a bit sticky!
Don’t think I’m going to try rerolling it to store it in the shower for transportation as that will defeat the object of the memory foam. As it has a protective cover on, it can stay laid out flat on the bed area.
It is firm and supportive but soft enough to be comfortable. In the circumstances a very good buy for us.
Bought this to add affordable comfort to a mattress that to be fair does needs replacing and it is doing a great job.
I’m sleeping much better now, although hip and back pain has not gone completely it no longer wakes me up during the night.
I haven’t had problems with it moving around the bed as others have stated, and the initial smell only lasted a day and wasn’t particularly strong. All in all I’m very happy with this, the comfort levels have improved dramatically although it does make getting out of bed each morning even more of struggle due to being so comfortable!!
I am so so pleased with this mattress topper. I like a firm mattress but I needed something just to take the edge off mine as I currently have back problems. The mattress topper didn’t really have a bad smell as with other reviews and was fairly easy to fit onto my bed. Memory foam does unfortunately tend to trap heat so it’s a bit warmer but I usually sleep partially out of the duvet anyway so it’s not a bother. It was very comfy from the start but really came into its own after about 2-3 nights using it; it’s returned to its proper size and is beautifully soft and spongy. I’m sleeping much better now but it is much harder to get out of bed!
This was a must for me. I feel I sleep so much better now. There’s a very noticeable difference for the better. I personally would of preferred it be softer still hence not a full 5stars. That said it is a great purchase. Miles better than what I had before and would absolutely recommend to anyone struggling to get comfortable at nigh
Hello. I bought this in an attempt to fix my mattress problem in a cost effective manner. My old mattress was so bad it was interrupting my circulation and i was waking up with numb member during the night. I bought this and now I can sleep properly. Smells but the smell goes away

As other reviews have said, it does smell weird when you initially unwrap it. The smell doesn’t take long to go though and it adds an additional layer of comfort to a sprung mattress. I wouldn’t dream of having a mattress without a memory foam topper now.
Good value for money when I purchased and has added some additional life to our old mattress.
I haven’t found any issues with it sliding but did find I needed to buy deeper fitter sheets as it does add a fair bit of additional depth the the mattress.

I was very wary when I ordered this I had saved up my 2 coins for a year, but OMG it’s amazing it really has transformed my life. The pain in my hips has gone and I can actually sleep. I its sheer bliss I love it.

My mattress (without topper)is good but a little firm I never wake up with a sore back, but my pressure points shoulder and hip get sore and I used to toss and turn as I sleep on my side.
All gone I sleep so good and even when I wake up I can go back to sleep because of the mattress topper.
I highly recommend.

I have arthritis in the hip and waiting for replacement surgery, brought this hoping it would make sleeping easier, definitely a big improvement, at last I’m sleeping better. Item was a great price approximately 30 cheaper than Argos who at the time were running a 20% off on silent night products
I had been suffering from back and neck pain for over a year, waking in the night uncomfortable and sore, and grumpy in the morning as a result. I had been going to chiropractor at 45 a time, until somebody recommended I try mattress topper.
When I ordered this one, I chose it because it was Amazon’s choice, but truthfully, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
After three solid weeks of sleeping and absolutely no pain during that time I can safely say this gets a five-star thumbs up from me.
If I’d known it was this easy to stop the pain I would have bought one years ago. Highly recommended.

The mattress topper arrived exactly when stated. We left it to air for a few days as there was a chemical smell. After a week we put the topper on the bed and both my wife and I have had probably some of the best nights sleeps then we have had in a long time.
The topper arrived sooner than expected which was perfect because it gave me time to open it and let it get a nice shape as it was a Christmas present and in needed to be less smelly and plump (the smell is nowhere near as bad as some other reviews say). My mum says it’s very comfy and she doesn’t wake up with a stiff back now, so i’m more than happy with the purchase 🙂
It seemed very thin but it is very comfortable. I don’t get hot laying on it either. It gave us a bit extra padding on top of our new mattress.
As for the value for money the product offers really a lot.
The cover which comes with it is easy to clean and the topper really well in it.
Was not impressed when I opened it not what I was expecting. But was very surprised by how well it expanded and regained a normal shape after been left to expand for the day had a bit of a smell but that went after few days .

Product arrived really quickly and being used as topper for older teenage daughter’s bed. It looks a bit insubstantial but she says it is very comfortable and that it has transformed her bed. She certainly won’t get out of it now! Only been in use for a week or so, will update if any problems develop.
I recently moved and the mattress at the new place was a terrible, tough, old spring mattress. Bought this mattress topper (5cm thick) and now I can finally sleep properly without my shoulders/back hurting. Would definitely recommend. As expected it had a bit of a smell when I first unpacked it but I let it air out for 24 hours and then it was totally fine.
Made my bed a lot comfier! I did hope it would be a little thicker (I used to have a 100% memory foam bed so used to that), but it’s made a big difference.
Its comfortable but I should I got the 5cm memory foam instead of the 2.5cm. If you need it to be thick then go for the 5cm one as it will be a lot more comfortable. Great packaging and fast delivery.
Purchased for my mother it’s so good I need to buy two more. I got mum a new bed and mattress from IKEA. I did tell her if you want to upgrade the mattress I’ll pay for a better one. After trying this topper she is so happy she wants to keep the mattress now
For 2.5cm thick this was surprisingly comfortable and really made a difference to the hard feel of our orthapedic mattress. The only bad part is the totally useless and not fit for purpose cover. As so many people have already stated it only covered one side and the elastic edges just make the foam curl upwards.
Excellent product of high quality, proper body moulding memory foam, fits my double bed perfectly edge to edge. Comes with a protective cover also which is great as memory foam can stain easily from sweat if not protected. My fitted sheets still fit round the topper and my mattress, it’s not too soft though so that it swings the other way and is too soft to be comfy. Highly recommend as a cheaper alternative to buying an actual memory foam mattress, or for just hugely improving your nights sleep!
has helped give a soft edge to a super firm bed, fits a king bed perfectly and so far the topper sheet has held it in place , would like if the topper sheet was a bit deeper tho to go under the mattress. haven’t noticed any additional warmth yet which is a plus for me
Really good and makes my somewhat uncomfortable mattress much better. However, the chemical smell lasted 4 days and was horrible so I’m give this 4 stars. Really it can’t be underestimated.
The product is great but the fumes are not. I had to have it laid out for 3 days and the smell was awful.
Transformed a worn out mattress into a soft comfortable mattress. There is a slight rubbery smell from the cover but that seems to be diminishing. I can’t feel any of the old mattresses lumps and bumps through it.
The fitted sheets I have dont quite fit the mattress plus topper but i can get 3 corners on. I can always look for some deeper ones.
For 72 quid this has saved me replacing the mattress….I’m happy.
I have a 900 memory foam mattress which is amazing and I though, no way can a mattress topper be as good.
But this really did amaze me. It really is fantastic for the price. Very comfortable and helps give a great nights sleep.
I looked at the cheaper priced toppers on here but a lot of reviews said they just felt like cheap foam.

Really pleased i bought this…gone is my back ache from my mattress… I was a bit concerned after ordering it, wondering if 5cm would be thick enough, but its done the job! Only drwa back is its strong smell on unpacking…which is only just starting to disappear, and did make my whole bedroom smell for a while. For that, i dont give it the full 5 stars…but dont let that put you off.
I am please with it and makes the mattress more comfy (new mattress but a bit hard for me). Only down side I have found is that I need to rotate it weekly, other than that very pleased

Fits well, and so far so good. The bed has a firm mattress and for her who likes a softer mattress its great, for me not much difference sleepwise so far. Still have back ache.
I bought a bed which came with an entry level cheapo-mattress which was quite uncomfortable. This topper is a perfect fit, and has transformed an uncomfortable bed into a thick, supportive and luxurious one. Would definitely recommend.
BTW, the packaging warns, as do several other reviews that this pongs of rubber when it is opened, but I left it to air for a day and the smell went.

The Topper is genuine memory foam, but the only disappointment for me was that the cover is not a zipped bag like others I have bought. Being warned by other reviewers about the cover, I bought a proper zip-fastened cover from another supplier, and fitted it to the Silentnight Topper before this had a chance to swell out. This made fitting very much easier. Really glad I had taken the trouble to read about it first.
Unlike some others, my Topper does not have a really heavy smell.
In any event I can thoroughly recommend this Topper.
Very comfortable but a nusence to transport and store. If only the cover went all the way round! Bought a Duvalay at the same time, although the thinner and less comfortable, probably better for traveling with.
I ummed and arrrrrd over getting this and eventually got it on an offer. I’m so pleased i did! It has turned my slightly aged clumpy mattress into an experience like sleeping on clouds! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it or buy another. I thought it was too small when I first opened it but it soon expanded to fit over the mattress perfectly. Other reviews have mentioned a smell but mine didn’t smell at all. So pleased I bought it.
The only problem is that the memory on this thing isn’t too good and it seems to form the shape of a much larger gentlerman that I believe myself to be. I would therefore recommend you proceed with caution to prevent mental trauma and the risk of falling into a big fat mans gap!
