Compact but very solidly built speaker.
Not lightweight but not outrageously heavy.
Easily connected to my phone.
Purchased in a black Friday sale, so very good price wise.
It’s packed with an array of speakers
Absolutely superb sound quality.
We’re very happy together.
Highly recommend.
The sound quality is very clear and detailed. I think the battery life maybe more than 12 hours because I have used The Speaker quite a lot and it’s not discharged yet.
I love the customisable app.
You can even specify when you want The Speaker to turn off if not in use. The graphic equaliser is brilliant because I like quite a lot of treble.
The Speaker is larger than I expected and is not easy to fit in a medium size suitcase.
So I had to take my small speaker when I went on holiday.
I am considering buying another so I can link them up for more defined stereo.
Stunning! OK, let me explain… Tested with an S21 using Spotify. Ran a few different genres through it. Rap, hip hop, dance, metal. Handles it all with ease. Clear vocals and miss but the surprise is the amount of bass this kicks out. No, it won’t shake the ground but you know it’s there.
Using a custom EQ with the APP is easy of you know how to set one up and this changes the game! Think, for the price point, you can’t go wrong.
Well built. Good weight. Compact. Loud. Win!
Re-purchased after a rethink!
And I am so pleased that I did – this speaker is so impressive! So impressive!
I bought one of these before Christmas and returned it. I had been listening to all my Flac files through a Vifa Helsinki and nothing else approaches the clarity and High Fidelity of that (now, quite “old-tech”) speaker.
Put simply, the Helsinki is STILL unbeatable. Even the many 500+ offerings cannot compete. (And I HAVE tried a good number of them!)
However, I realised that I had not been comparing like for like. So, when there was an offer on Amazon, I took the plunge — again!
The Soundcore Motion+ is simply superb and I have bought two — absolutely brilliant — you hear everything in your music!
We will take them on a caravan holiday, later this year. With two paired at one end of the van, this set-up will be so good, in the evenings.
Paired in stereo — the delivery is truly astonishing! If you are hesitating or deliberating, as I was — DON’T!!
This is one of the very best speakers, you will find — at ANY price!
Buy yourself a stereo pair — room filling, high quality sound, plenty of volume and if you have a player app, you can dial in the EQ to how you like it. However “straight from the box” is really well-balanced and very easy to listen to.
Bluetooth and then Stereo pairing, is absolutely straightforward and simple.
(I wonder if Anker/Soundcore/Amazon, realise just how much business Oluv, – with his reviews, on YouTube, has sent their way?)
This is a brilliant speaker and is highly recommended!
Now ….if only Vifa had produced a “TWS Helsinki” — there would have been no need for other manufacturers even consider it!
Breathe a sigh of relief, all you overpriced “big” manufacturers!
Like other reviews mentioned, sound quality compared to the price point is amazing. Quite acceptable “stereo panorama”. Really good and detailed low-end, a bit “weaker”/”less bright” on higher frequencies compared to other speakers I’ve used, but it’s certainly not “lacking” since I was able to fine-tune it to my liking using the EQ on the Soundcore app.
The only bit that annoys me is how “cumbersome” it is to pair it again and again with even the devices it got paired before. It’s has become a pretty common thing to “reset” the device (by holding “plus” and “bluetooth” buttons at the same time for 5+ seconds) every time, just so it successfully connects to a device (which has been paired with it before). I don’t have such problem with numerous other bluetooth speakers/headphones I have.
I grabbed this on 25% discount and I would easily buy a second one if I see it on discount again, so I can use its “stereo pairing” feature.
I think I have written two reviews on here in about ten years! This bt speaker deserves the effort, for a mid price range speaker it definitely excels-vocals are crisp bass is on point and the ‘bass up’ function does just that, unlike other speakers that often fall short on the bass. Only reason I havnt given a 5 star for sound is because the mids are very slightly off. Having said that, I’d say this is the very best you will get in this price range. It’s definitely excelled my expectations by far!
I came from a Soundcore boost which sounded alright but the Soundcore motion plus works well with high res music on iPhone so glad I purchased it.
The speakers are especially great. The sound is wide and is my type of sound. The bass is strong and the vocals are bright and distinct. I recommend my friends to buy them
This is a great sounding speaker and worth the price.
The sound quality is very good and it gives great instrument separation.
Not the bassiest portable speaker as in sub bass but a nice punchy tight bass.
Great for movies and music.
If you push the Bass Up button it goes to a pre-set equaliser setting and overrides the custom setting that can be adjusted in the app, so to get the most out of the speaker it is best to use the custom equaliser as this is the loudest and clearest setting.
Long battery life and charges fast.
Overall, worth the price especially if on sale.
Have the UE Megaboom (1st Gen) for sometime & whilst the sound is both good & amazingly loud the problem with battery life was frustrating, fine with immediate use once charged but the battery diminishes hugely if unused for 2/3 weeks to the point of often being ‘dead’
Always a fan of Anker but held back on the Soundcore Motion+ until the price dropped, already have the Soundcore Mini & it’s battery lasts well, regardless of whether it’s been used or not, it can be picked up weeks later & still powers up no problem.
The Motion+ sounds great straight out of the box & the weight of the unit adds confidence (rightly or not) & the addition of both USB C & an AUX outlet is perfect. Too early to know if battery life is as quoted but being a Li-Ion battery I’m hoping the power drain when not used isn’t the same as the UE.
Good sound quality and volume level. Delivered quickly. It’s worth buying a case to keep it in. I have used it for gathering’s in the garden and everyone liked i
Far better than it should be at this price.
Pros:
Very high quality – and clever – audio engineering. I have experienced many premium small speakers, some at several multiples of the price, that don’t come anywhere near the quality of this. I am very impressed with the quality of the sound that this thing can produce. It can’t really compete with larger speakers, but it does a really good job trying. Anker should be very proud indeed.
Surprisingly wide stereo field for such a small speaker; the tweeters are angled outwards which helps a lot.
Supports custom on-board EQ, and with a bit of experimentation, a very nice sound can be coaxed out of the speaker.
Very well made. Feels weighty and expensive, but still light enough that it is easy to pick up and carry.
Solid bluetooth implementation with excellent range and large pairing memory. AptX support ensures decent quality with no noticeable compression artifacts.
Packs a punch – the 30W rating is not a joke. Relatively low distortion, though it does get a bit ragged at party volumes. A single speaker will easily fill a small room.
Simple waterproof controls on the speaker. Waterproofing actually works!
Very good battery life, easily 12 hours+ at the volumes I normally use it at at home.
USB-C charge connector is convenient. Is perfectly happy charging while in use, and there is no difference in volume if the charger is connected. Can easily be constantly powered.
Cons:
Default EQ, and all of the preset EQs in the app, are totally dreadful, and ruin the sound this speaker is capable of making.
Single custom EQ in the app. No saving of multiple user-defined presets, and no import/export.
Multiband EQ implementation has narrow Q, and not enough bands for really precise adjustment.
Custom EQ in app does not show numeric boost/cut values.
App looks pretty, but very limited in what it can do or adjust on the speaker. I think Anker have tried to stuff everything for the entire SoundCore range into one app, which ensures they keep it up to date, but makes the app a bit harder to navigate.
Makes a pointless signature noise when turning it off and on, which cannot be disabled.
No AAC codec support, which means Apple users are limited to SBC, which isn’t ideal. Maybe Apple will support AptX one day.
Volume adjustment is very coarse – a single press of the volume up button raises the volume a lot.
Overall, while it is not flawless, the top notch audio engineering, build quality, and value for money make this winner for me.
See the attached custom EQ if you want a decent starter – it’s how I like it setup. Obviously your taste may vary.
well worth the money, bit of a speakers and headphones guy and this does not disappoint at this price poi
Great Sound and great value. I am using for my tv and is grea
These Anker sound core speakers are great quality and value for money.
I first ordered a Sonos roam but cancelled my order after reading more into the reviews. Lots of people kept talking about this speaker and saying that the sound quality is better & the device itself is cheaper. So I gave it a go and I couldn’t be happier for 100!
Just shows sometimes you are paying for the brand name.
Definitely recommend 🙂
Great value for money why spend money on bose or sonos when you can buy this for a third of the price
During this time of the year it plays all day long, easy to connect, great sound, good price if bought in special sale
Small, cute, powerful. Good quality!!! Only con bass not so good
Sound quality crisp and clear with a deep mellow bass. Quite powerful. In terms of portability the speaker is a little weighty.
I must admit that I was impressed by this speaker. I normally do not write reviews but this time it’s worth making an exception. It has an extremely powerful output and the quality of the sound for this price range is unbeatable. It has an App that allows you to fine tune the sound and check the battery charge which seems to last for ever. Until this moment I am unable to find any defects. I am extremely happy with this purchase and I absolutely recommend it, you will not be disappointed.
I bought this 2 months ago primarily based on sound quality. I am not disappointed. There is not really such a thing as a good or a bad speaker. Comparisons show the individual sound stages may lend themselves to whatever music style is chosen, individual preference, the listening volume and even surroundings. For me, this is a good speaker and has performed exactly as per the YouTube channel; Alan Ross Reviews
Battery life is good. The bass radiator (blank diaphragm in centre) is driven by the tweeters to amplify the bass. In the ecological age, only having 30 Watts means it is an intelligent choice.
A major downside is needing the app and having to register. I don’t connect and give out information without good reason so I don’t have the app. Thankfully Amazon Music has an equaliser so the Soundcore app is not needed. I listen to a diverse selection of music from chart pop, jazz, crooners, big band to rock and metal. It performs well in an industrial setting or at home. I don’t waste money on unsuitable purchases because I carefully research first. I haven’t tried to see if it lasts 12 hours but I can see 8-10 hours between charges.
I’m in love with this speaker I wouldn’t chose any another brand then anker great had for over a year never had a problem.
For the price, this is a good product and I highly recommend. The red color is dope and high quality through and through. The battery life could be better. Be warned it’s loud. I was surprised, I heard things in the speaker that my high end towers do not reveal. Good job TRIBIT
The sound that comes out of this thing is simply astonishing and it is a quantum leap in improvement from the Anker Premium speaker (A3143). It has good base, a really nice sound and its plenty loud enough to annoy the neighbours.
This to me is a excellent speaker, in most ways but not all.
The sound matches my Sonos (which are a lot more expensive, and no were near as portable). Plenty of base but still giving clarity to the vocals, although I played about with the EQ settings to get it the way I like it.
However the size shape and weight do make it difficult for me to handle as I have arthritis. The buttons are not easy to distinguish as they are the same colour as the body of the speaker and this can be frustrating when you want to turn the volume up or down via the speaker.
Also I lost bluetooth connection a couple of times when testing the speaker. But that could be down to any number of different causes and not the speaker.
Other than that, it’s a good quality speaker, just not suitable for me
QUALITY HiRes sound with aptX over bluetooth when connected to a quality source. Simply amazing playing my Hires streams.. Has an excellent supporting app with custom eq setting available.. use this to get best sound. Portability was not on my buy list as quality sound from my streamer in house was priority. However it can easily be moved around but I would not put it in backpack….don’t think its intended for this. Do you really need a hires speaker on the beach!?!?.
Total value for money and beats many others at twice the price…BUY IT..
I’m really surprised by sound quality, that said – I never had anything better thatn 25 year old home Hi-Fi / stereo separates.
I like the ‘finish’ feels non-slipery and more expensive that is. I have it for short time so I can’t say anything about battery life.
Oh yeah – it’s more heavy than I thought, which is good for sound, but not for portability.
I did a lot of reading up and watched more than a few YouTube videos and this item always came out on top. It feels solid enough and has a decent weight to it. Once charged it can play for a full 24 hours if you wanted it to. Can add an mp3 player instead of your phone if you so choose and play music that way.
Sonic wise. to truly get the most of it you need the app and to use the custom sound settings to adjust the bass and mid range. The only nit pick would be the sound range is not totally covered but it does convey more than enough bass, mid range and highs to a certain degree but enough to give clarity where its needed.
It wont rattle when pushed as this is LOUD and solid as a brick. I got this during Prime day where the price was reduced by 30 so jumped on it. You want portable music on the go. You cant go wrong with this one.
Does not disappoint; now able to drop some ‘drum and bass’ on my staycation!!!!
I bought this to use in the kitchen, replacing an aged, but trusty Bose Soundlink Mini
The Bose has that normal Bose sound – bloated bass and not much else.
To start with, I was pretty disappointed with the Motion+ speaker – it sounded very flat and thin.
But after a few hours use, at moderate volume, it’s started to loosen up.
I really like the sound of it now – clear, crisp, good bass (although it’s no floor-shaker) – certainly good enough to use in the kitchen.
Being USB-C is something I was after as well, as more and more of my devices use that standard and it saves having to carry too many cables, chargers, adapters etc.
I was also looking for a speaker with an Aux in as mostly it’s used that way (receiving audio from a Raspberry Pi/media server)
They seem to normally be about 100, but when I ordered mine it was 75 and for that money, I’d say it’s a complete bargain (I’d have been happy with it at 100 as well BTW)
Attached custom Equalizer settings for latest firmware 36.38 that are more or less coincide with recommendations from famous youtubers (Oluv’s gadgets, Alan Ross and others), providing deep clean bass, treble and overall pleasant sound.
Obviously you should use presets when listening to the music and search for your own custom Eq setup.
Pros:
1) Sturdy quality build, feels good in the hand, has some weight to it
2) Great appealing design with 3 color options – red, blue, black (black is the cheapest)
3) Presence of tweeters which are regularly lacking on many other speakers and provide sizzling treble and clean highs
4) Deep clean low frequencies without distortion which is met on every speaker above 80% volume – frequency range of 50 Hz to 40 kHz
5) Loud inside and outside
6) Wipes the floor with competitors under 200$
7) Has speakerphone
8) Has AUX input, cable included
9) Large battery lasting 3-4 hours playing on maximum loudness 80-100%, up to 8-10 on 50% loudness
10) Price around 70 pounds (under 100$)
11) Can be paired with another one
12) Has mobile application for firmware updates
13) Has equalizer inside the applications – presets are good, custom EQ makes the speaker shine
14) IPX7 waterproof and can be taken outdoors to pools, fountains, lakes, rivers, sea/ocean shore (do not submerge)
15) Bass Up button and functionality, boosts immersive sound indoors and outdoors
16) Still the king of market since first appearance in 2019, live and kicking
17) aptX codec which makes it Android friendly
18) 30 Watts of power, other speakers usually feature less than 20 Watts
19) USB Type-C support, cable included
Cons:
1) Red and blue speaker version cost higher which is strange
2) Has its own competitor inside the brand – Anker Motion Boom – priced similarly
3) Does not sound that awesome out of the box, custom equalizer settings make it divine
Competitors:
A) If budget is not an issue and you want to invest in products that are no longer developing
1) Vifa Helsinki – 300-400$ (company is sold, stock is still available)
2) Danon Envaya 250 – 180-250$ (left portable bluetooth speaker market)
B) Its own brand – Anker Motion Boom (check the reviews – boombox that shines with sound quality, battery life and other features) priced similarly under 100$
C) Too popular but lacking WOW effect
3) Marshall Stockwell 2, Killburn 2, Emberton are only good at rock losing their shine in other genres, twice the price, noticeably virtual/syntetic/unnatural sound can be slightly adjusted by bass/treble settings
4) JBL Charge 5 – boomy despite the tweeter, mono sound, no aux, no speakerphone, twice the price, no equalizer
5) Sonos Roam – twice expensive, doubtful sound signature
Summary: bought mine to substitute outdated JBL Charge 3. And it does that successfully.
Note: check Anker Motion Boom before buying.
I’ll start by saying on thing, and that is that this is a fantastic speaker as a speaker. The sound is not only much bigger and bassier than you would ever expect for a speaker this size, but its has a really rich sound, all aspects of the music pops and is not drowned out by the bass, even though the bass is fantastic also. I would highly recommend though that you set the equiliser yourself, don’t even bother with Bass Up, as that’s just another pre-set equiliser setting.. Use the Motion App and set the equiliser yourself, and you will be surprised how great you can get the sound to sound with it, and best of all, the speaker saves how you set it into the speaker itself, so no need to set it each time, no matter where you play the music to the speaker from. The speaker also has a weighty quality feel to it.
Okay, the negatives.
The one thing i feel this speaker is missing and i feel would have been better in having, is an SD card slot, so you can play music without having to use bluetooth or AUX connection, but it least it has an AUX connection, as a lot of speakers don’t, but it would have been nice to have an SD Card slot also.
I would have preffered a 16-24 hour battery life, but i have used it on multiple occasions without charging and have not run out of battery, so charge it every so often or more if you use it a lot, and battery life shouldn’t be an issue.
Lastly, and i’ll end on a very minor thing, is that the controls on top of the speaker don’t stand out very well, and only the power button on the side is lit aside from a small light next to the blutooth button, meaning you will find yourself fumbling with the controls on the speaker itself, especially in low light, and the top is made of a rubbery material that will get greasy easily if you use it with greasy hands.
Overall though, as a speaker and no SD card slot ommission aside, this is a suberb speaker with excellent (and big) sound, and i am fussy about sound quality, and it’s nice having to be able to customise your equaliser, which as i say i highly recommend you do to get the best sound out of the speaker and sound that suits you.
Straight out of the box the speaker feels a meaty piece of equipment due to its weight. The sound quality is fantastic for its size and will fill most rooms with sound without distortion. It’s never going to compete with a hghi end hifi system but for a portable speaker you can’t go wrong. Although the mid range is slightly weak you will never get this on a small speaker. The base is very strong and sounds superb with rock/dance…. tracks.
I have had a lot of Bluetooth speakers in my time, these win hands down. I bought 2 of these for stereo setup. They pair with each other easy, the pair to your phone easy. Best thing is if you have them all synced they auto pair and auto link to same phone perfectly. Sound is crystal clear with base and surprisingly loud.
Even the app is good !
Definitely buy 2 it’s so much better to get in wide stereo in a around you with speakers at both ends of wherever you are. Can’t fault them.
