I saw an ad for these on Instagram and was instantly loving the look of them. My only issues with them are the fact that they’re a bit pricey and they take a while to break in. I’ve worn mine many times and they’re still quite stiff. Overall I’m quite happy with them and considering getting a another colour!
Immediately impressed with these boots. Incredible leather smell. Foot slips into these easily and they feel so sturdy & comfortable immediately, I’m sure that will only get better as they break in.
Edit: I have been wearing these for a few weeks now and they are very comfortable!
It’s overall a good pair, but pricy…To be honest, I wore capped-boots for years and no matter the 100$ pair I bought, they were as comfy as these 265$++ boots, so don’t buy them if you expect more than that.
As for the size, I usually wear 10,5 and I ordered 10 as it was suggested. It fits.
Also, I applied mink oil on the boots to waterproof and soften the leather as you should because leather tends to dry and crack over time.
Very comfy shoes, just want to buy another pear and definitely will
Didn’t know what to expect when I ordered these from Amazon. I followed the advice and went down half a size over what I would normally buy. I ordered a UK 9.5 (US 10) and the fit for me was perfect out of the box, which was great. The other surprise was how little break in they required, almost none. I put them on and took the dog for a 2.5 mile walk with them on, and within about 10 minutes they felt like I’d had them for months. The footbed isn’t removable but the poron/ cork insole they use certainly works as well as any of my other boots. Quality wise they seem very good for the money so far. The leather is soft and breaks in really well, the lining is of good quality. The only thing I could see was one of the nails on the heel wasn’t punched down far enough, but so far that was it and an easy fix. Everything else, stitching, eyelets, sole etc. seem very well put together and the comfort so far has been extremely good. I walk about 10km a day and so far in the last 3 days, they have been near perfect, the heels showing little wear. I own a lot of boots some more than double the price, are these finished as well as my Trickers, Loake 1881 etc? Probably not, but for the price they are very good and significantly better than the Timberlands I own, which are a similar price range and slightly smarter. So far a good buy!
SIZE: I have always worn a Size 8 UK in all footwear – trainers, shoes, everything. I did a lot of research and deliberating about this “half size down” recommendation. It didn’t sit right with me to order a 7.5. So I went ahead and ordered my true shoe size 8 UK. I am so glad I did. They fit perfectly. Any smaller and they would have been too tight. Perhaps this is because I have slightly broad feet. QUALITY: I was nervous about the QC issues that I read about on here. Especially when spending so much money. But my boots arrived well packaged, brand new, with no major defects or QC issues. A couple of light marks on the Natural leather, but that is to be expected with leather. All-in-all I am very pleased with these boots right out of the box. I can’t comment on durability yet, as I’ve only worn them once.
I got my usual size. I’m usually 11 in sneakers and 11 in palladium boots. I also am sometimes 11.5 and rarely 10.5. I told this information to a rep from Thursday and they recommended 11. They were gorgeous and just like the photo. Feel durable and high quality. Come well packaged. They definitely need a small break in period but after a few weeks they feel extremely comfortable and the leather doesn’t crease too much so it looks nice and natural. I wear them as dress boots to my office almost daily and sometimes running errands right after work and no complaint. Only tip would be to wear mid to high socks because like I said, at first they might chafe or hurt your legs ( right under your calf) but, right after you break them in, they feel so awesome and it goes away, in my exp.
I got these boot on sale for $130 . I heard people say to get a size down I didn’t and the boots just fit. I’d say they fit true to size. Quality is top notch , I would recommend these boots.
Very sturdy and given its ruggedness I’m expecting it to take a wee while before it’s really comfortable – but looks great! Fit was as my usual size. Looks a tiny bit chunkier than I expected; mainly the sole, but still more streamlined than most other service style boots. All in all a great boot and worth the money. Hoping I’ll have it for years to come.
Ordered these off Amazon despite the negative reviews saying i shouldnt. Was worried about stitching or poor quality. They arrived on time and i immeidiately inspected them. All the stitching was tight and well done. No gaps in the soles, no blemishes or ugly spots. The leather looked well finished and had that wonderful leather smell bursting from the box. They were a little tight just above the heels on my achilles but after a week of wearing them, they have softened up a little and no long pinch or rub. I didnt get any blisters or anything before that, just a little uncomfortable. Theyre great if you like jeans and button up shirts for a more business-casual look. They seem pretty well made all around. Will update in a year or so.
Excellent quality for the money. You can tell by just holding the boot that it is of quality.
Fairly comfortable out the box. Will need a little bit of break-in but not uncomfortable.
I wear 9 in most and 9.5 in some sneakers got a 9 for these boots and it fits perfectly.
Ordered as per dress shoe sizing (1/2 size under sneaker size) as recommended by others and fits great. The brandy captains colouring is fairly close to the online picture just a little less red undertone and more brown but the overall colour look is the same. Great construction and quickly worn in. no foot soreness after first days wear.
I ordered Size 12 Brandy and received size 12 Terracotta, so wrong colour but the size was correct, however the boots were exactly the size of my foot with no give whatsoever. For me this counts as too tight. Trying again up a size to see if we can get both things right this time.
Have had these boots for a few months now and have worn them in a multitude of situations (including a few days walking 10-15 km). Provide excellent support, and I found the build quality to be exceptional (could not find any deficiencies similar to some earlier reviews, I believe T.B really beefed up their QCing since then).
The only thing I suggest is to follow the other reviews/suggestions and order your true size. I ended up following the recommendation to go half a size down, and while they aren’t TOO tight, they’re definitely snug (no thick socks for me!), even after breaking them in. My next pair I will be ordering my standard size and I feel they’ll be perfect.
Great looking boots.
The rubber outsole allows you to wear them in all conditions.
Kevlar laces stay tight.
The shank offers excellent support.
Solid boot. After years of boot envy and having bought a few lower-range priced boots, it was certainly a breath of fresh air finding such comfort and ruggedness.
My previously bought boots (cemented sole construction) fit very well after trying on in-store, and even passed the brief in-store walk test. However, having ventured outside for a casual stroll through an urban city environment, it was only then then that I realized how uncomfortable they were – the insole felt quite stiff and hard to stand/walk on, which didn’t help how constrained my foot felt. I gave them another two chances, but felt I couldn’t go on using them due to the amount of discomfort they contributed to even after spending just 2 or 3 hours walking around.
I saw some of the good reviews for Thursday Boots on various Youtube channels a few years ago, however only recently discovered their availability on Amazon AU, after which I decided to give them a go. The Thursday Boots website suggested that their boot was true to size and recommended ordering the same size as you would for dress shoes or 1/2 a size smaller for sneakers. Having a dress shoe size of 7 (AU), I ordered a boot size 7.5 (US), which was actually quite tight. I subsequently tried a size 8 (US), and then finally settled on an 8.5 (US) – thankful for the free returns.
The design is a bit more streamlined than other boots (eg, Redwing Iron Ranger or Wolverine 1000 Mile), and right from the get go it felt as if I was walking on a cushion, and remained comfortable even after hours at a stretch.
Good price point and great quality. Highly recommend.
I take a size 11 US in Sneakers. I went down to a US 10 and these fit perfect. Only new – so far very pleased. Love the burgundy tone of the brown.
Definitely antimicrobial so no Stinky feet.
Nothing beats wearing skin over skin.
Please condition the leather before your first wear or they will not patina well.
Yes, please by 1/2 size smaller.
Just waiting for the leather to adjust to my feet.
Update. No more pain at all anywhere. It feels like I’m wearing hard tough skin over my own skin. Leather much more superior than other fabrics. Just have to get through the break-in period.
Rugged is the right word to describe these. They held up incredibly well through this past Canadian winter with regular use.
I’m not a boot connoisseur by any means, but I like the way these look, the price point is good and they’ve held up well.
Very stylish, I wear a size 12 and ordered a 11.5 good fit. They appear to be well made and don’t take long to break in. I’m very happy with them and would recommend them. Looking forward to many years of use from them.
I was hesitant to spend 200 on a pair of boots I couldn’t view in person.
Well, the risk paid off! Best boots I’ve owned. Quality leather and built to last……so well worth the money. I’ve ordered another pair directly from manufactures website.
Size: if you’re UK based, I’d recommend just getting the size you normally wear.
If you’re based in the EU, well….that’s unfortunate
Anyway…..a great boot! Recommend!!
Hello! I’m writing this review to help my fellow boot lovers out there who are having a hard time making a decision wether to purchase Thursday’s boots or not.
As of now, I could not say a lot for I have just received it 2 days ago, I have not used it outside yet but overall the design is outstanding! I have received my package unscratched which is a relief for I have seen some reviews that the packages they received were torn apart.
I would say I love this boots! The smell of the leather is so good! I would continue this review after I have used it for awhile.
Thanks!
These boots are fantastic recently bought the matte black captains and now im hooked on them. The brown leather is a real beauty and although shiny to start with they do colour well with age. I ordered true to size and theyre comfortable straight out the box.the soles are grippy and have a slim profile. Honestly a 10/10 no QC problems either and the seller is easy to contact and polite to boot. (Excuse the pun)
Normally am 10.5, sized down to 10 as suggested on official website. Snug but comfortable. Happy I sized down. Shoe seems great quality, no issues.
I’ve heard and read a lot about Thursday Boots before buying and the Captain boot I purchased did not disappoint. I love the features from the goodyear welt to the comfortable soles and while this boot costs 30% – 50% less than comparable shoes, you wouldn’t know it looking at them or wearing them. Super happy with my purchase and will be picking up a pair of dress shoes next.
The boots are excellent, superb quality and very stylish. They are also extremely comfortable.
Great looking, great quality, fair price. The Goodyear Welt and overall construction of the boot make it more than worth the price. I have owned a pair of Thursday Explorer Boots for a couple years now and they’ve stood up to everything. These are not dress boots, they’re work boots that look dressy.
Great boot and they look amazing. Break in is a little painful the first week my feet were killing me but after that they seem fine. I will definitely buy another pair in a different style. They are built to last.
Very nice pair of boots that look amazing and feel wonderful. I didn’t review the warmth part of this as of today I have not been outside to experience the harsh northern climate with my new boots.
So far so good. I broke them in by wearing in the house for a few hours. Quite comfortable. Quality is great. Looks great. The wife loves how they look. I really like these boots and am likely to buy again fro Thursday. Will update if my opinion changes over time.
Loving these boots so far im so impressed with the quality they are waaay nicer then i could have thought i have lots of leather boots and these are tough boots nice thick leather they feel similar to my cowboy boots really high quality tough leather. Everything about these even the packaging is incredible they really take pride in the product at this price range you cant go wrong worth every penny
Could not find any flaws with these boots.I ordered mine in tobacco in size 9, which is what I wear in Allen Edmonds and the fit is perfect. Choosing the colour was the hardest part.
I bought these shoes for the rough suede looks as shown in few of the pictures. Photos also have the matt black looks. So i was a bit confused, eventually when i got it they were mat black. Not so much to my liking hopefully they’ll age to that look. Size per se, as others suggested dont down size. Even the 8 which is my regular size is snug fit.
Overall i like the shoes, they are good addition to my collection and i like wearing them with a black jeans.
Beautiful boots but difficult getting the correct size.
The line about sizing down is sort of incorrect as these are in US sizes, so make sure you look at a conversation chart to get the equivalent UK size before ordering.
My 2nd pair. I have had the first pair for 2.5 years and still wear them. If you keep them polished they really last a long time. Based on the lifespan of this boot the price is a great deal.
I wear a size 10 in most of my athletic and casual shoes Air Jordan 1’s, Vans, 9 in Converse and Superdry chelsea boots. I bought size 9 Presidents and they were too tight ended up getting the 9.5 in the Captains and now they’re perfect, my foot is fairly narrow and I always want the perfect fit in footwear. Hope they will restock the Tobacco Presidents. Great quality I’m sure they’ll look better in a few months.
One of the best investments I’ve ever made , if you want to take your boot game to a whole new level this is it. The quality is superior in comparison to any other shoes that I’ve used. You easily stand ou
Perfect boots so very well made. I have 3 pairs of these in different colours because they are so damn good ! You wont find a better boot for the price
These boots are high quality, look great and are breaking in quite easily. All the stitching was perfect except for a small imperfection on the good year welt. Barely noticeable. Be specific with delivery instructions. Delivery company did not come through a gate to knock on the door.
Some reviews said 1/2 size down but I found these true to size. Excellent quality and very comfortable. Hardly feel like ‘boots’
I first ordered a size 9.5 which is a half size down as they recommended. I returned them the day after to get my original size of 10. Do not size down. Order your normal show size. Other then that, they are amazing boots.
I have now got a UK 10.5 on my feet in the captain, these feel snug and I am sure that these will be the right boot size for me, which again makes the go down 1/2 a size strange, I’ve had to go up 1/2. I’m going to wear them in the house for a few days before the ultimate decision as to keeping them which I do hope I do, if not then that’ll be an end to this make of boot for me. I’ll update in a few days, but must say I do like these boots aesthetically and the way they look to be built well (fingers crossed).
Not much else to say other than they’re a great pair of boots. Can’t wait to work them in! Like some of the reviews say, buy a size down from your sneaker size as they fit a bit bigger, but other than that, I’d definitely buy another pair! Next time a different style and colour. And for the price, you definitely can’t go wrong.
Nice boot…comfortable..colour not the same as pic a lot lighter..overall very happy with them.
Thursday Captain Boots are excellent boots that are a perfect fit, very good quality, especially for the price, and I would highly recommend these as a great choose for a dress boot.
Great looking boots, and comfy to wear. Only downside I’ve come across so far is they can be a little hard to get on; this could just be due to the leather still being hard, as they don’t feel too tight once I’ve got them on.
They fit exactly right. They say to get half a size smaller than your regular shoes and they fit great.
I’ve owned shoes and boots from a lot of Goodyear welted and hand made companies. (Red Wing, Allen Edmonds, Chippewa, Wolverine, Trask, etc). I am blown away by the craftsmanship, style and comfort of these boots. The Dark Olive suede gets more compliments than I can deal with, and the shape of the toe is a lot more versatile and graceful than the bulbous workboot toe on the competitor’s boots. The Dainite-esque soles and slightly taller heel are a welcome change, and the interior is leather lined and plush. The shape of the last works well for my foot, and break in, at least with the suede, is easy and painless. I will say that it took a while to get dialed in with fit because I kept buying sizes that were too small. I finally figured out a foolproof trick: get cheap, thin insoles and wear them in your boots for an hour or so. You’ll see exactly where your big toe hits with the indentation on the insole, which will confirm that you have enough toe room for your boots. The most important thing is to line up the widest part of the ball of your foot with the widest part of the boot. Get your foot measured at a shoe store on the Brannock device. My length measurement was a little bigger than 12.5. I was told to size down, so I tried 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5 and 13. I finally ended up with 13 to get enough room to not have big toe rubbing on the front, which is technically a 1/2 size LARGER than my measured Brannock device size. I wear a size 14 in Nike and Puma shoes, 13.5 in Adidas, so Thursday’s advice to size down 1/2 size from sneakers is a good starting point. The takeaway is to try your Brannock size and go up 1/2 size if needed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I usually take a UK 11 and although the advice is to order down a half size I didn’t and ordered 11s. I’m glad I did because the boots are not oversized and I can wear thick socks with them for winter. These boots required very little breaking in and I have had no heel rub or blisters at all. The insoles feel very comfortable and give a nice cushioned feel to my feet. The leather is good quality, uniform in colour, and should develop a nice patina with wear. Thursday was aiming for a hybrid between a work boot and a dress boot and I think they have succeeded. Of course this means that the last used is narrower than a typical work boot so if you have a wide foot (greater than ‘D’) these may not be for you, although I believe a wider width is available in the US. By manufacturing in Mexico they have managed to keep the costs down and Goodyear welted boots of this quality made in the USA would cost a lot more.
I have no complaints about the style of the boot they look great and they seem to be a good quality for the price. However ordered half a size down as suggested and the boots where too tight even with regular socks, as opposed to boot socks which are thicker. I reordered in my regular size and am awaiting their arrival.
I’m a UK size 8, bought US size 8, they’re slightly tight but should wear in well
im very happy and satisfied same as i expected, i really love this boots so no complain all perfec
Nice boots, size 9g UK shoe normally, bought a size 9 boot and it’s a good fit.
I knew that I made the right choice as soon I opened my Thursday Boot Captain box and was struck by the fine leather aroma…that made a lasting impression.
It just got better from there as my size 12’s in black fit perfect and had an already broken-in feeling the first time I put them on and of course always look pretty stylish.
I need more – President in Tobacco is real nice.
After reading and watching all the reviews about these boots I decided that I wanted to give them a shot. The shoes arrived quickly and after trying them on I was very pleased with the fit and construction of the shoes. The leather is excellent. The quality is sturdy. It is not too heavy like the iron rangers that I have. It also fits as expected so do get it a half size down like they mentioned. Definitely pleased with my purchase. You have won me over Thursday boots!
You can’t top these things, whether you’re headed out to the pub, dinner or trekking across country fields like Sam and Frodo these boots won’t let you down!
Love the craftsmanship and styling. My foot is wide and I wish they offered an “wide” option. Despite Thursday Boots not offering width option the upper eventually stretched enough to form a comfortable fit. The bed feels great after hours of standing and walking despite the last being narrow. I can’t say enough about how good this boot is for $200. I don’t have a pair of Redwings or Wolverines miles to compare, but the leather is great and they can be resoled when they wear down. I’m a very happy buyer. Had to remove a star for lack of width options. I do hear great things about the Wolverine BLVD boot having a little wider last and more toe space at the same price. I wasn’t aware of them when making this purchase, but you might do yourself a favor take a look at those too. I’ve already bought the Captains, and I’m not disappointed so far.
FWIW Reviews rate them similarly.
I am writing this review pretty late after receiving the product, but I wanted to review the boots after I have tried them for some time. TBC are without any doubt my favourite. These are my 2nd pair of boots from TBC.
Most boots are able to keep you dry one month later or even 2 months later. But to do so a year later, that’s impressive and that’s the reason I got these pair
Thursday Boot’s Captain silhouette is my favourite and has a slim profile.
Weather Protection – I was surprised when my boots were fully submerged in water and came out unscathed. I tested them in snow many times, not a drop of wetness on socks.
Quality Protection – With a pair of normal socks that are not of awesome materials nor of any warmth, I wasn’t warm, I also wasn’t cold. I just felt normal. However, if you put a pair of warmer socks, that’s when you will feel that cozy warmth on your feet. Otherwise, you will still be fine.
Comfort – If you are looking for comfort, these come with leather lining inside, and that is the most comfortable lining I tried thus far. It just feels great to walk in these.
I love that the boots give me an extra inch and a quarter in height and look great with casual and smart casual getups. I can wear it with jeans, wool trousers, sweaters, field and leather jackets — it’s an exceptionally versatile boot style.
Recommendation – Just wear darker socks when you know you will need to take off your boots in public.
These boots are amazing. They fit as expected, chose my normal size. look amazing etc. i swapped out the laces for Xpand no tie laces which might feel like an insult to the original laces but it still looks and feels snug and amazing. worth every penny.
I bought these boots to wear to work. I spend much of the day standing and walking around and over the past months they have been exceedingly comfortable. The material is excellent and the construction is pretty good. Only issue is that the stitching on the sole doesn’t have gutters. Consequently the stitching wore through very quickly, after only a few days. After snagging my foot on a step the tow of the sole began to split from the welt. That was a little disappointing. I spoke to a cobbler friend and he recommended contact cement to glue the tip back on. Another issue was the sizing situation. Thursday recommends ordering down in size to help as the boots stretch out. I ordered a half size down and they were way too tight across the front of my foot. I returned them and got my normal size and they fit much better. They have stretched out a little over about 100 days of wearing but not very significantly. In spite of these problems I still very much recommend these boots. They’re comfortable and good looking.
colour looks lighter in real life compared to the picture. Has lighter and darker areas on the boots. The price is kind of expensive compared to similar looking shoes, however the quality does feel better especially in the heels. Although I did walk around my city in these and I ended up having sore feet. Probably best to have use these for parties or events rather than use them for casual use.
The description recommends buying 1/2 size smaller than the sneakers size. I am size 10.5 in sneakers and I always buy shoes/boots that are size 10.5. so when I got these boots I thought I will get the size that always fits me and if it ends up being 0.5 larger that would still be fine. Size 10.5 in these boots is super tight and uncomfortable. So if I went with the suggestion in the description I would have bought size 10 which would definitely not gonna fit.
I wore them already for a day, they are definitely not comfortable for driving. I am just hoping that after a week or so they will get more cumfy.
Updated review:
New review from 2 stars to 4 stars. I have bee wearing the boots as if they were shoes, meaning only tie bottom half. It feels much better and comfortable. I think these boots will feel even better as they get worn…
Very Classy Lookin Pair of Boots! Shipping was very fast. I’m a 9D in the brannock and I purchased US8.5- fits perfectly! Only downside I could think of is that the shoes came in with the original shoe box and just packed inside a regular amazon box
Great quality. Easy and fast to break in. True to size. Too narrow for me (my feet are 12cm wide). The boots would comfortably fit feet width of about 9-10cm
The quality of these boots is really excellent. They need a while to break in but fit like slippers once done.
The boot feels of high quality and is pretty comfortable out of the box. I couldn’t see any defects. Compared to the photos, the colour of the leather is less of a burgundy and more of a brown in my opinion, which I actually prefer. In terms of sizing, I ordered US 8.5 and it fits really well (I have a pair of AE Park Avenue US 9 – a little large and sneakers varying from 9-9.5 US). Time will tell how well these boots last but as of now, they look promising.
They are a little tight for a 9 I would have gone for the 9.5 had I known but they are stretching nicely. The only real problem that I have was delivery. Something heavy had dropped on them and slightly and I mean slightly scuffed one of the shoes. As I wear them this will not even be noticeable but I will and I’m still ok with it. But maybe they should be marked with fragile or something? I don’t know.
I did a lot of research for my next pair of boots, and Thursday seemed to impress me the most with everything. So much so that these boots are my absolute favourite and i actually am getting myself a second pai
I’d given up on leather boots. Couldn’t find any comfy or durable. Since I needed something dressier than my trusted Timberlands, decided to give these a try. The fit is perfect. I wear 10.5 in all athletic shoe brands, Thursday’s recommendation to take a half size lower was spot on. The boot has proven very versatile, from khakis or jeans all the way to a suit.
The sole is comfy enough for most surfaces. Grip is good on wet surfaces too. Warning though : do NOT wear on snow or ice; that could prove lethal. On snow, these things are as slippery as waxed skis.
That snow caveat aside though, these boots are perfect. They are very versatile and can dress up or down, they’re very comfortable, they’re relatively cheap, and they looks sturdy enough to last.
These fit extremely comfortable with my custom orthotics right out of the box, which doesn’t happen very often. The insole isn’t removable so a 3/4 length insert is a must due to slender toe box. My foot size is 10d but due to the orthotics sizing varies from shoe to shoe and some brands just don’t fit at all. In this case I went with size 10 and still have room for the 3/4 insert plus thick socks. More than anything these are comfortable because they have plenty of room in the instep which prevents pinching where the tongue is sewn to the vamp, similar to Redwing but unlike Wolverine.
Regarding size, I went my usual size, and it fits perfectly. There is slight room at the toe box but I have wide feet and I would rather have a little space than have my feet cramped.
Cons: Received one, had to return it because the right boot’s leather that holds the lace wasn’t in the middle. It was way out to the left. Bought another one, it has the same problem, but not as bad. I am flying soon, couldn’t be bothered with another return. Quality control seems to be a hit or miss.
Pros: fit is good. Looks terrific, I can only imagine how good it would look as it ages. Hopefully it will last me at least 5 years. Pretty comfortable so far. I will update my review in a few months when I have worn it more
Great boots that are high quality, but ignore any advice to go down 1 size. I regret doing so as these are NARROW. They’ve taken me weeks to break in and even still they feel very tight across the ball of my foot. In hindsight I should have retuned them straight away and gone up a size, but this is my first pair of ‘nice’ boots and I thought they’d loosen up. Perhaps they still will, but I’d say they’re far from my most comfortable.
These are beautifully made boots. Gorgeous leather that smells amazing too. Very solid but not too heavy. Excellent value. Very comfortable after about only 1hr of breaking in. Just choose the smaller of the two sizes you most commonly wear in shoes.
Sizing guide is incorrect, I am a 9.5 in sneakers in Australia, according to their guide I should have ordered a 9.
I did order a 9 and I could not get it onto my foot without pretty significant pain.
I returned it and ordered my normal size 9.5 and it fits amazingly, I didn’t even have to wear them in they were great from day one.
You probably already know Thursday’s story; crowd funded origin and quality control issues to start, but that was 5 years ago. Today, Thursday has proven time and again that they really do care by admitting when there are problems, improving production, and listening to the customer and providing world class customer service.
I’m a somewhat giant guy (6’5″ 230lbs) and have above averaged sized feet. This leads me to the biggest downside with Thursday Boots. Direct to consumer.
Direct to consumer is one of the features that enables Thursday Boot Co to do what they do for the price that they do it and their customer service will bend over backwards for you while you order, exchange, and repeat. I ended up ordering and returning 5 pairs of boots from them (only one pair was Amazon, the rest was their own site) and returning 4 of them while trying to figure out the right size. I had no idea what size to wear in a pair of boots like these and I didn’t know what they should feel like either. Is it too tight? Too short? Too long? Maybe I should just exchange them again and try a different size?
Go get yourself measured on a Brannok device. All shoe stores have them and can measure your feet for free. Just do it first! It was exhausting and partly my fault, but it paid off in the end. I measured a 13.5 EE on the Brannok device and ended up with a 13 “wide” in Thursday sizing. These wide sizes are available on Thursday’s own website.
After reading a lot of reviews and trying to decide if standard or wide is for me I decided to order standard. Fortunately Amazon had free shipping and returns. They were too narrow for me. Some people say to “break in” boots but it seemed they were too tight. Sent them back and ordered wide from Thursday. Hmmm…. almost a little too roomy. But added an insole and pretty good now. But they look fantastic and the quality seems good after wearing them over the winter.
Great boots, comfortable and well made. The boots fit great thanks to the advice of Thursday Boot Company to order a half size less than I usually wear. Boots arrived in perfect condition. After reading several reviews I took a good look over the boots for any inconsistencies but found careful craftsmanship and a well made pair of boots.
My size is 11.5 but I prefer wearing a size 12 for sneakers, I ordered 12 by mistake and they were too loose, got my return in just two days, ordered 11.5, still have wiggle room in the toes, they feel like most boots after the break in, I think I’ll keep them since they are still tight around the heal and top of the foot, 5 starts is for the awesome quality, and sexiness of the boots
I’m a boot guy. Retired First Class Warrant Officer.
Here’s what you should do.
First: The laces have a hard time going threw the round eyelets because there flat and need to be round. I changed mine right away and it makes a big difference.
Second: Thursday boot says to order 1/2 size smaller. Don’t. If you take a 11mUS like me than order size 11. There going to be nice and smug. Then put in a Dr.Scholl’s Sport with arch support insoles (spend so money here, its no big deal) You’ll be then walking on pillows, very comfortable.
Third: Get yourself some Kiwi shoe polish of the same color and take care of the leather, just go to YouTube on how to care for boots. Do this and the’ll last and look beautiful for years and years.
Four and final: Order up a shoe storage bag and use it on the off season that your not using it. That will keep the dust and dirt way. Top shoe companies include this bag in the box. Too bad Thursday didn’t do this. It says a lot if they had one included. (would cost what 50 cents)
ead many reviews before purchase and agree with most that say the backs of the lace hooks scratch the tongue. wore them laced up and after only a very few minutes the leather was compromised. wish that wasn’t so. other than that the boots fit like a glove on me with almost no break in. vey comfortable. will buy more for sure.
Shoes are well made. Leather is thick. I found the shoe to be on the heavy side. Ordered my exact size, feels maybe a little large, but I like my shoes to feel roomy. Tried shoes where they recommended 1/2 size smaller and found they would always feel to tight. Just saying.
I would not recommend buying these from amazon. I received mine in a used condition when i expected something NEW. They had a distinct dent on the front of the toe cap and decent scratches on the left boot in two different areas. I also ordered a half size too big which is my fault, but i will order another pair through amazon. I could’ve returned them. but didn’t feel like going through the process as i’d been wanting a pair for so long.
With that being said, I love my Thurdsay boots! I’ve had them about 5 days and they’ve molded to the shape of my foot really well. I haven’t been using an insole with them and am walking comfortably fine all day in them now. I come from the world of skateboarding shoes, so having an arch makes a huge difference in comfort. They are a half size too big yet they are still very comfortable for walking or standing. After the break in period I can walk in them or stand for hours with no pain. Switching back to regular shoes feels strange now. Walking on wet slick surfaces is a quick way to end up in the hospital. I would not recommend for the rain.
Definitely going to buy more Thursdays from their website in the future. 10/10 boots

I consider a good pair of shoes and boots to be an investment. You get what you pay for, and I’m on my feet a lot (by choice). Having “good wheels” means everything, especially after having suffered through sub-par footwear previously. I’ve been considering purchasing these since I first saw them elsewhere online a few months ago. After looking at many other similar-looking boots and reading countless reviews, I decided that, for me, Thursday Boot Company offered the best option combining quality, comfort, style, and durability. I am happy to report I made the right decision.
First, although the boots shipped direct from TBC and not an Amazon distribution center, they arrived in the Prime two-business-days window (more like a day-and-a-half). Excellent shipping turnaround!
The packaging is top-notch: a quality box, carefully designed and branded, neatly nested inside the outer shipping box, also branded. Opening the inner box, I I lifted a sheet of dark, neatly placed tissue wrap. Under the tissue, each boot was wrapped in a separate plastic shroud and well stuffed with paper and cardboard to keep the boot’s shape. Tried them on to confirm the correct fit (I followed the company’s and many reviewers’ suggestion and ordered one-half-size smaller than normal shoe size.). They fit perfectly.
Fit confirmed, I then removed the laces and applied a thin coat of Huberd’s Shoe Grease (which I ordered with the boots) before wearing them. I applied a second coat a couple hours later, once the first application had set in.
I am wearing the boots today at work to start the break-in process. I have a feeling this won’t take long, as the insole already is quite comfortable, and the leather (now conditioned with Huberd’s) is excellent grade.
If these boots break in as I expect them to do, I anticipate ordering another pair or two in different styles. Yes; these are *that* good.
I couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase. My hat’s off to the crew at Thursday Boot Company for providing a quality pair of lace-up boots that don’t break the bank but look and feel like they do.
Good quality boots, only time will tell if they hold up. So far after a few weeks of wear. I have no issues. They show minimal creasing and I have worn then out to the office and off weekend several times. The welting seems to be quality, and the stitching on the uppers doesn’t seem to have any loose threads. They have all of the signs of a quality boots.
For me, they didn’t have a hard break in like a pair of red wings or wolverines, and they are snug in the toe box with a little extra room for. Thicker pair of socks.
Would recommend these to family and friends however. I wish they were priced at 199 instead of the 250 CAD as this mean they loose a star for competing against other Goodyear welt shoes in that price point, and seems to go against their core brand message of a better boot for less.
You get what you pay for in quality footwear. Thursday Boots are well made with quality leather and decent lowers. But ….. they are urban dress “boots.” They are not stylish work boots. As long as you are aware of what you are buying the Thursday Boot will not disappoint.
The overall construction of this boot is very good. The fit was very slightly large, but easily fixable with thicker socks or with an additional insole.
The leather used for the pair I received was slightly disappointing. Loose grain creases appeared instantly after walking a few steps. Though this is a somewhat common issue with chrome tanned leather, I’ve seen images of the same boot with little to no creasing after months of wear. The consistency in the leather quality is not great; but I guess that is to be expected at this price point.
I would likely buy another pair in the future.
Fast shipping.
Plenty of selection of high quality, stylish boots. Fits great, well made.
I was in search of affordable boots w great looks. Boots that are in my constant radar are usually viberg, wolverines, red wings, aldens, allen edmonds and Thursday Boots definitely delivered the looks and quality.
I’ve had experiences w horween leather or handmade boots, or heritage american/ british made products but tbh you’re def going to be spending waaaay more for those. Go for Thursday Boots instead. The stitching is great, fits great, sillhoute is super stylish.
he overall boot is very nice but the quality control is no good one boot has a scratch along the toe cap and the other one has 2 circle scuffs the size of a quarter on the inside other then that i like them and most likely will buy the brown ones nex
