Why are the camper sites hidden way back in the menu, they should be on the first or second screen not buried and then as a sub menu. can we have a software upgrade that puts the campersite upfront?
Input the metrics of the Motorhome and navigation took me away from all the roads that would have been a problem. Up to date travel info too. Pleased with the purchase
On the whole it’s very good. It doesn’t give you enough time to review all the routes to determine the best one – that might be because I haven’t worked out how to work out routes offline yet. Occasionally there is a minor glitch in the routing or the spelling of a tow

Sehr klare Darstellung, schaltet schnell um wenn man mal eine andere Strae nimmt mehr kann ich noch nicht sagen erst im Sommer, wenn es richtig zum Einsatz kommen muss!
Easy to set up, easy to use, good satnav well worth thr money.
We bought this on the recommendation of “Wandering Bird” a motorhome reviewer who has an excellent web site with lots of helpful information about owning and using a motorhome. So far we’re delighted with it. It takes away the crippling fear I had years ago with my first motorhome when I’d duck and cringe every time we approached a low bridge. You input your van’s height, length and width and it plots a safe route avoiding low bridges and narrow unsuitable lanes. It’s a game changer and really reduces the stress of driving a large vehicle, leaving you more relaxed to enjoy the journey.
The best thing is being able to customise routes according to vehicle size. You can put in motorhome measurements then switch over to car when need.
Also, downloaded New Zealand free of charge. Which was useful.

Il manque l’heure actuelle qui ne s’affiche plus comme dans mes prcdent Tom Tom et c’est une grosse lacune car cela permettait de d’avoir un point de repre avec l’heure d’arrive mme si l’on a le temps pass et l’horaire d’arrive.
Pas de paramtres pour l’ajouter , dommage.

We do not have this hard wired in, so if the electrical connection becomes loose the internal battery can go flat on a long journey if you miss that, and simply plugging back in does not give it enough power to start up immediately. the volume on the speaker is quite quiet, might be ok on a car towing a caravan, but inside a noisy motorhome it is difficult to hear at times. other than those two issues it seems to do its job very well and hasnt yet sent us down any awkward roads’
Una muy buena eleccin, preciso y rpido. Buen tamao de la pantalla. La calidad TOM TOM se nota, para mi el mejor navegador. Aunque tiene un precio elevado, merece la pena comprarlo. Recomendable.
A major issue for me however is the mount. Despite looking identical in the pictures its not, and neither device will fit on the others mount.
The other issue I have is the volume is not adjustable after the route is set, so if you need to change the volume you have to cancel the route, adjust the volume and restart the route. This is really annoying given other elements of the sound are adjustable such as mute and alerts.
The premium services such as traffic updates require the device to be linked to the phone. Given I don’t propose to do this in Europe (because of the service cost) its a bit limiting.
Despite the apparent increase in memory the device is on the limit of its capacity most of the time and occasionally says I have to make space by deleting other elements.
On the up side the screen is large, clear and the device is noticeably quicker than others I have had.
I’m also hoping the vehicle characteristics will have more impact on route navigation, as my 6200 was woefully inadequate in that regard.
i’ll update this review when I have had time to test in more detail across Europe.
Different layout to my old non tomtom sat nav. Has some great features and works really well. To get the best out of it you do need your phones data allowance to be used.
Wenn man das Gert das erste mal in der Hand hat und iPads gewhnt ist, ist man etwas enttuscht: gross und aus billigem Plastik auf der Rckseite. Aber wenn das Gert montiert ist, bemerkt man diese Eigenschaft ja nicht mehr und die Navigation, Display, etc. ist einwandfrei. Ich hatte noch nie ein besseres Navi.
Die Halterung fr die Scheibe ist allerdings sehr kurz. Die meisten Wohnmobile haben ja die Frontscheibe recht weit vom Lenkrad entfernt und wenn man das Gert zu weit vorne montiert, ist es schon wieder zu klein um davon gut ablesen zu knnen. Ich habe daher eine Halterung von einem anderen Hersteller verwendet und auf dem Armaturenbrett installiert. Aber fr ein Navi, das speziell fr Camper-Fahrzeuge gedacht ist, erwarte ich eigentlich, dass alle Bestandteile auch fr diesen Anwendungsbereich optimiert sind.
Das ist aber mein einziger Kritikpunkt, wie gesagt bin ich ansonsten sehr begeistert und kann das Gert auch trotz dem hohen Preis empfehlen.

– no miniSD card slot
– don’t require app for network tethering (this is risky as depends on end device instead of TomTom app)
Advantages:
– faster
– more RAM (faster!)
– 5GHz WiFi in theory faster download
Services are now premium and you need to pay after trial
Unfortunately mine was not able to connect to MyDrive thru 6 different network connections.
USB (with TomTom connect), WiFi (4 different APs), Bluetooth tethering.
Finally needed to return and waiting for replacement.

Besonders die zahlreichen hinterlegten Adressen auch von Ladengeschften sind toll. Einfach nur MediaMarkt Bremen eingeben und alle Technik Filialen in der Stadt werden angezeigt und knnen sofort als Stop eingefgt werden. Wer kennt schon die Adresse vom Baumarkt?
Ausserdem ist die Magnet Halterung echt Klasse. So kann ich die neue Route eingeben und das Gert wie ein Handy in der Hand halten, whrend meine Frau fhrt. Keine Verrenkungen mehr ntig.
The display is large and easy to use but i am disappointed with some of its features.Although the unit does come with some pre loaded Camper points of interest,it doesnt have what i would suggest the main 2,Park4Night or Campercontact.Previous models had very poor 3rd party integration of user files but as far as i can see this has none whatsoever.You also now require the unit to be tethered to a smartphone for connect ability has the model I have does not have a sim card fitted.As with most tomtoms the live traffic is excellent although for some reason mine didn’t receive traffic updates in some rural parts of France.I think this may have been more an issue of receiving data via the phone tethering than the nav itself..Also the premium services ie fuel prices,did not show in France either.I have been a long time tomtom fan but in some areas this unit is a backward step, especially with the essential for me,3rd party points of interest management.
I have only had this product for a few weeks so have not yet had much chance to try it out on a long trip. However, that is about to change as we are off to France touring with our caravan for 5 weeks from Tuesday 14th June. That said, I have been comparing it with my smaller Camper Go and the differences are definitely noticeable: It is faster, clearer, has better volume and generally easier to add to or change route on the move. The only thing with it is that due to its size it is more difficult to find an idea spot for it on the drivers side of my car because of the shaped dash. In a Campervan this wont be a problem. That said, my wife can operate it from the passenger side whilst I am driving.

Ich habe es nicht bereut. Den handlichen Karton geffnet, sehe ich als erstes den Quick Start Guide – darunter das 7″ Navi, sehr beeindruckendes groes Teil. Auerdem gibt es eine stabile Halterung, ein Anschlusskabel und einen separaten Stecker fr den Zigaretten-Anznder.
Das Heftchen lasse ich erst mal liegen und schalte das Gert ein, es folgt ein Trommelwirbel und der Schriftzug TomTom mit Logo, nach ca. 20 Sekunden kann ich dann die Sprache whlen und mich durch die Konfiguration klicken. Die erste interessante Sache ist der Fahrzeugtyp: Auto mit Wohnwagen, Wohnmobil oder Auto kann ich hier auswhlen und dann ins Detail gehen mit den Abmessungen, Gewicht und Hchstgeschwindigkeit. Auerdem wird der Motortyp und die Kraftstoffart abgefragt. Dann wird eine Verbindung mit dem Telefon ber Bluetooth-Tethering hergestellt. Das ist wichtig, denn das Navi erhlt seine aktuellen Daten von meinem Smartphone aus dem Internet. In der EU haben wir damit kein Problem, in USA benutze ich immer ein SIM-Karte von dort. Aber was ist z.B. in der Schweiz? Muss ich da um meinen Internet-Traffic frchten? Das konnte ich auf die Schnelle nicht herausfinden.Jetzt noch eine Verbindung zu meinem Wlan-Netzwerk herstellen (fr die regelmigen Updates) und beim TomTom-Konto anmelden. Das Konto habe ich schon von meinem bisherigen TomTom-Navi und kaum habe ich mich angemeldet, sehe ich auf dem neuen Navi meine bisherigen Routen, POI und Orte. Das neue Camper Max ist startklar.
Das 7″- Display ist brilliant, klar und hat eine schne bersichtliche Darstellung. Ich merke, dass hier ein schnellerer Prozessor verbaut ist und viel Arbeitsspeicher, ruckzuck habe ich das erste Zeil erfasst und sehe schnell die Route auf dem groen Display.
Erst mal gucke ich in die Einstellungen, das Navi ist auf dem aktuellsten Stand, fr die Karten werden mir bereits Updates angeboten. Sehr schn ist es, dass ich einzelne Lnder auswhlen kann und so erst mal nicht die ganze Welt laden muss. Ich aktualisiere schnell mal Deutschland und die Nachbarlnder und lade mir die USA fr den nchsten Urlaub.
Nun geht es ab ins Auto, schnell und sicher ist das TomTom mit der schnen Halterung an der Windschutzscheibe, kann aber auch mit einem Click von dieser abgenommen werden und ich freue mich ber die schne Darstellung.
Endlich mal sehe ich die Ortsnamen auch ohne Lesebrille. Das 7″ Display ist fr mich schon jetzt ein Gewinn.
Sobald eine Tankstelle auf dem Weg ist, sehe ich auch gleich den Spritpreis im Display. Dieser wird aus einer Datenbank geladen, ist aber leider nicht immer aktuell – aber das Problem kenne ich auch von Spritpreis-Apps. Dieser Service ist mit dem Navi fr ein Jahr kostenlos dabei. Ebenso gibt es fr ein Jahr Radar-Infos. Mal schauen, ob mir das soviel Vorteile bringt, dass ich es spter erneuere.
Gestern war ich auch bereits eine Strecke von ca. 100 km ber Land mit dem neuen Navi unterwegs. Die Informationen sind – wie von TomTom gewohnt – sinnvoll und hilfreich. Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzungen werden fast auf den Meter genau angezeigt, wie auf den Schildern an der Strae. Auf der rechten Seitenleiste kann ich mich gut informieren, ich sehe Tankstellen-Infos, Stauhinweise, Vorschlge fr eine bessere Route, voraussichtliche Ankunftszeit – gefllt mir alles sehr gut.
Schon beim erstellen der Route sehe ich im weiteren Umkreis alle Staus und Behinderungen. Allerdings bei einer lngeren Strecke nur fr den ersten Teil (200 km ? oder so) das ist schade, wenn ich das fr die ganze Strecke sehen wrde, knnte ich mich eventuell schon vorab fr eine andere Route entscheiden.
Mein Fazit nach den ersten Tagen: eine klare Kaufempfehlung fr das neue Tomtom Camper Max. Wer den Platz an der Windschutzscheibe hat, sollte sich auf jeden Fall fr ein 7″ Navi entscheiden.
So easy to set up wifi @ bluetooth connection took only minutes and was ready to go exploring , whats good is no more getting stuck down narrow lanes with caravan attached or low bridges , the route is calculated to the size and length of your unit.
Also it comes with camping site pois making it easy to plan stop on route to your end destination, also you can choose a scenic route to make your jpourney more pleasurable’
What is also brilliant apart from the 7″ screen is the live traffic info and alerts , which can divert you from any hold up in the road ahead .
This tomtom max is much quicker at making fast responses to changes on route its 4 x faster than my previous Camper Sat Nav , find destinations through wifi accurately with little info input very impressive.
This TomTom Camper Max Sat Nav is far superior to my last camper Sat Nav … Looking forward to covering many miles with my Caravan .
