Have been using this game pad for 3 1/2 months & it’s “mostly been great !
Main use so far has been with Xbox gaming & but yet have to try it for PC.
I really like the volume control features like game, chat & EQ.
Have NO idea what the “mode” feature does on controller & the bottom buttons do nothing on Xbox a Xbox. (unless there’s an app i don’t know of).
My main concerns (after 3 months) are with pressing the Xbox button it too often sends me to the “turn off console” menu instead of Xbox app menu.
Also now game the controller shows a “disconnected” warning Mainly for elder scrolls online game.
Lastly the USB C connection port on controller has loosened up a bit loose since i 1st used it.
Turtle Beach should redesign the USB C connection port so the cable is snugly “wrapping” around the cable. Maybe some sort of rubber extension.
Other wise i am Happy with this wired controller, No thumb stick “drift” so far like my 2 Xbox 1 controllers.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPreso per sostituire il controller originale Microsoft dati i vari difetti agli analogici.

It’s a bit slow to connect and requires a cable, however it works well and the provided cable is very long. If I had more money I would buy an Xbox Wireless gamepad instead but all things considered it’s a good alternative.

    Vorteile:
+Versch. EQ (Was deinen Headset deutlich verbessert)
+ Breite Kompatibilitt (Xbox ONE,S,X, Xbox Series X/S, Windows 10&11
    +3 M beiliegendes USB-C Kabel
    +Geringe Latenz
    + Lizensiertes Produkt

I bought this controller once and I had to return it within 6 days of playing because it got some stick drift, not bad but I didn’t want it to get worse so I made the most of my return. I bought a second one after to see if it was bad luck. The second one is looking like it is doing better. I really like the controller and the features and is unbeaten for features for price. I would recommend if you aren’t such a competitive gamer, great for casual playing.

This controller ticks all the boxes id expect from a controller from comfort, weight, wire length, button access, additional features and one particular one I enjoy is when you connect a headset through controller the super hearing button in certain games lets you even hear the wind whistle.

My big gripe is a very annoying one in my opinion, I use it on my PC which which I can only get it to turn on by disconnecting and reconnecting the cable which over time becomes very irritating.

I was a long time user of xbox 360 wireless controllers, but got fed up of the thieving prices for 2nd hand ones that last a few months, so did some research and came across this one, nice long lead that has a usbc into the controller and is about 10ft long a decent cable so hopefully will last, buttons and triggers are comfortable and the 2 underside triggers are programmable, now have one set for running for the likes of Battlefield 1, so much nicer than having to keep the left joystick pressed down,.
It is pretty much plug and play, I did plug it in and go straight to their website and got the latest firmware, apart from that and programming the underside trigger that’s all I had to do, I’ve played a few games mad max, ghost warrior contracts, Battlefield 1, and some others all worked fine, so I’m a happy chappy.

Just received today so first impressions with an unexpected extra. Can’t speak to endurance at this time…obviously.
Feels great in the hands if a little plastic-y, everything works with features that put the more expensive pads to shame especially with the audio options and the programable rear paddles.
I got this cheap from the amazon warehouse (25) and other than the box being opened it was basically perfect. The firmware update was so easy to do too.
    Now the added benefit.
If you use amazon music you might find that like me you struggle to get headphones that give enough volume especially with windows 10. Well with this controller, when I plugged in my old Titanfall headset I discovered the volume from the pad is independent from the volume setting on windows 10 and amazon music giving me the first truly loud experience I’ve had on amazon music. it was bliss. Try it with any headphones, see if it works for you.
    5 stars.

Great tension in the sticks and triggers. bumpers and dpad are a little squishy but still have the click. Good weight and nice feel, back buttons are great and clicky. I’ve always preferred buttons over paddles. Biggest let down is the audio. Lots of hiss, preset ‘signature’ EQ is god awful compared to the standard controller. Also comes with quite a lot of stick drift. But I think its just because the sensors are super sensitive and it’s perfectly usable. Im on Linear and its been fine. Again, for the cost, can’t go wrong.

The cable didnt work and I’ve had to order another 10ft cable from Amazon. Once I found another cable I was able to plug it into my Xbox X and start playing no problem. So far it feels pretty good. I am just using it while my official xbox controller gets repaired, for the second time.

  36. Avis64Gqrnhj says:

At first I thought it might have to be sent back because the sound didn’t seem to be working. Followed the instructions and was getting nowhere. I’m going to be honest I’ve got no clue what we did to get it working properly.
Unplugged it a few times, turned the Xbox One X of a few times. It seemed to be giving us sound after pressing the mic down button and now it all works as it should.
Already have the wireless or wired 8BitDo Pro2 for the PC and my lads Switch and I much prefer this Turtle beach model. The pro buttons underneath fir my hands easier than the 8BitDo one as that feels a little smaller. The right pro button really does help with head shots etc, it’s a great idea.
The d-pad on the Turtle Recon is excellent, way better than official one and a different league to the dreadful 8BitDo one. The sticks and triggers are really easy to adapt to and very responsive. The sound controls are great and do help with different sources. The mic is super clear for others hearing me and I can turn them down when they get too excited. The aim helper is fully adjustable mid game BUT this has drawbacks. Great against AI or bots, humans react much quicker though so I try to have it set a certain way for a particular game and leave it there. Humans kill you when you mess about like that in a game. 🙂
Plugged it into the PC and it is just as good, no messing around with anything it worked immediately. No sound on the PC, maybe there’s a way to get it to work but I don’t know how and it does clearly say the mic port is for Xbox.
We need another controller to replace a broken official one and I reckon I’ll be buying another one of these soon and not the new 8BitDo for Xbox.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersFYI: I bought this controller myself, and it is not part of the Vine program. Their pictures are gonna be way better than any I take so refer to them.

I never thought of Turtle Beach in terms of controllers. Headphones is their thing and I’ve had a few that were at best….meh.

When I saw this controller and what it offered in features and price; I figured I would check it out. I bought this for PC use only and do not have an XBOX, so if you’re looking for XBOX related stuff….sorry.
I used a Playstation controller for a while, but they are not great (they’re TERRIBLE) with Windows. I got a cheap Logitech to use until I could find a good one that I liked. Which ended up being this.

The button layout and ergonomics are pretty familiar and you won’t need to relearn how to use a controller with it. The two programmable buttons on the bottom are good, but I found where they are positioned to be a problem as I kept unintentionally pushing them. I have larger hands so I have to adjust a bit how I hold it. They don’t work for every button on the controller. Just the top L-R bumpers and not the triggers, the D Pad, XYBA buttons, and the joystick push functions only.

I would have liked to have been able to program the menu buttons for games like Destiny 2 and Division 2, but none of those are an option. All input functions are very responsive and accurate. One of the interesting features on the gameplay side is the ability to set up the so-called Pro-Aim Focus Mode. Simply put it just slows down your aim input to give you a bit more stability. It may be cool for you or you may not use it at all. Depends on how you like to shoot things lol

I don’t really get what they mean by “cooling” grips as they don’t feel any different to me than most others. They don’t actively cool your hands, just claim that by design, your hands will stay cooler. Honestly, I didn’t feel it.

I personally found the rumble function was so strong I turned it off. I like the DualShock feel, but this thing is like that on steroids. Super distracting when trying to pick someone off with a sniper rifle.

Headphone features are where it really shines outside the in game functions. It has all the controls you get on most TB headphones but will work on ANY headphone you plug in via the 3.5mm cable. I tried cheap buds, a Logitech Pro, and three other gaming headsets of varying qualities and you can make some meh headphones actually sound pretty cool. The side tone feature, (where you can hear yourself) worked with every headphone I used that had a mic BUT the ability to mix chat volume and game volume individually ONLY works on XBOX. Not a huge issue. You can change game volumes in game and make it work. I really liked the fact they put a mic mute button on the controller that turns red when you use it.

Makes keeping those sounds you don’t want (or shouldn’t make) your fireteam to hear out of the party lol. You know what I mean. Plus if you’re one of those annoying types who likes to eat while playing, you can spare your friends the sounds of your mouth. This isn’t ASMR. And…it’s gross.

You can read, so I’m not going to repeat everything they already said. I will say that the one big issue I have with it is the USB connection. As most gamers know, USB is way more accurate and quicker than Bluetooth. So, we’re more likely to have our controllers wired in. The problem I have with the USB connection on this controller is the same as the one I have with PS controllers: There’s too much stress put on the USB connection by the 10ft long braided cable and I feel it will eventually fail at the USB socket just as every one of my PS ones have. Since this is a wired only controller, I kinda would have preferred it to have been internally attached.

Time will tell, but I can already feel some wobble in the USB connection. I don’t look forward to it failing since it’s wired only, you can’t just switch to wireless and say Oh well… It basically becomes a brick.

I would have given it 5 stars but for the USB connection issue. The price is really good for all that you get with this and I got the black one only because they didn’t have white in stock. It’s an all around winner in the mid-range controller market and the sound features push it past anything at this price range. Let’s just hope I’m wrong about the connection. Buy it. You’ll like it.

Absolutely amazing controller. Response, handling, weight, sound is pretty much 10/10.
With sound controls, Eq, share button on actual controller makes it far superior to nearly every other controller out there.

It is a wired controller so that may be an issue for some people. But definitely recommend this one for anyone out there looking for a new one.
I also have a scuff controller and the sound through the head sets on this one is better.

I have to say this is a very good quality controller. While it lacks mechanical buttons (like my Razor Wolverine v2) it is very solid. The sticks are a bit stiff at first but it does offer good feel. The buttons are pretty good as well (though not as good as mechanical), and the sound control is also good (why is there no volume control on standard controllers I will never understand). Cable length is long too and it is USB C so well done Turtle Beach! Overall good controller and good price point.

If you like the standard series x controller size and comfort but really want a couple of rear buttons then look no further.

Even without the built in chat mixer and sound card I would recommend this controller. It is comfortable, has great grip, and the rear buttons are absolutely perfect. Their location is spot on, and they feel so natural to press. This controller feels much comfier than the elite series 1 and 2, and build quality is on par with the standard Xbox controllers, which in my opinion are very well built.

The sound features are great, you can have standard, bass boost, bass and treble boost, or vocal boost, plus scout mode is also included to boost the sound of enemy footsteps. Depending on your headphones this feature may not be needed, for instance if you have a quality pair of headphones like some dt 1990 or hd 660s you’ll hear enemies easily without the need of eq or scout mode, however if you have something like a turtle beach or Hyperx cloud headset with average/sub par audio quality then scout mode will help with footstep clarity.

The fine aim mode when holding one of the back buttons is very impressive, it will take some getting used to but I can imagine it being very good for heavy thumbed gamers, reducing your from turning too much when aiming at someone.

I can’t comment on the longevity of this controller as I haven’t had it long, but it seems really excellent, and for the price it is unbeatable.

I just wish there was a wireless version!

TL DR : great controller , only thing wrong with it is the placement of the menu/select button is pretty close together so if you also have unwieldy large hands keep it in mind. I’d also reccomend stick extenders for my fellow large handed brethren as it will help you get better hand placement for you to use the paddles with more ease as it does seem this controller was made for beta small handed people. Asides from that I’d reccomend this highly as the pre program feature is AMAZING

Been using this controller for about a month now, not going to lie I actually really like it!

    Just a couple of flaws:
    1. The stickdrift has been pretty drastic to be honest, seem to have to increase the dead zone every time I play, I don’t know what other people think but I don’t think that’s very normal

And 2. Unfortunately kontrol freeks don’t fit, but a wee bit of double sided tape did the job

Best controller for the price. I did have some bugs so I advise you to go onto turtle beach website and update the controller as soon as you received it. It’s really that good and the only thing I would change is to include proper trigger stoppers for FPS games, other than that, excellent.

Works really well as a wired controller for both my gaming laptop and Xbox Series X. Cable has good length and can be disconnected from controller when not in use. Very responsive during game play. Would recommend it.

I normally use Power A controlers but like all controllers they wear out fast. So trying this. From the moment you pick it up you know it will be good. Programming is a tad complicated without the manual. The pro aim feature does take some getting used too so cod players, do some private games for a while. All in all, this is a five star product and then some.

Great bit of kit, no need to worry about batteries again. All controls at your finger tips, easy to use.

Okay so first off this pad is made off very high quality materials and is put together very solidly, next the amount of options on this pad is insane, from 4 different EQ settings, to different pad sensitivity, to mappable back paddles, amazing pad, I love everything about i

Great for the price, Comfortable grip, great audio control and the buttons on the back are almost as good as the triggers on the elite controllers.

I bought the back buttons for ps4 and when I got the series x I missed having then so this controller was ideal for that but the sound controls make it even better and ant headphones give premium quality sound. Mute mic comes in handy too

Nice controller. Ergonomic design and with the lead, who needs batteries. Well worth the money and keeps costs down. Also saves the environment from dumb batteries.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI am someone who generally only likes 1st party controllers, but I just had to try this out. And I gotta say i am very happy with this pad. it aint perfect but what it offers for 50 is fantastic. A great featureset and overall well built controller. With corners cut in the right places to bring the price down this low. Bear in mind this pad is designed specifically for shooters. (I use it for apex legends and soon will be Halo infinite). I would not recommend this controller for fighting games.

    Pro’s:

Paddles feel good. Remappable via hardware with four presets. This is simple to do and explained well in the instructions.

great sound controlls and feature set with top buttons, mute (with light), chat mixer, game volume, eq (four presets), aim sensitivity tightener option (only if you are willing to sacrifice a paddle), supersonic hearing mode (ups treb and mids, drops bass, good for hearing footsteps).

Sticks are slightly tighter than first party xbox one/series x controller which is a nice touch, they feel very precise.

ABXY and menu buttons feel good, almost identical to first party controller (although menu buttons are a little further down)

Shape is great feels good in the hand, paddles are in a good place and it feels comfortable to hold without a lot off accidental paddle touches for someone who is not used to them.

Grips feels nice all around. (Including on triggers and paddles).

USBC input with a solid and leangthy cable out the box.

    CONS:

Bumpers and D-pad feel abit spongy, I wouldnt use this for fighting games.

Triggers hit the bottom hard but tension is good and they still feel good to use

Wired. (Although this does mean it looses a bit of weight which is nice)

Nicely made controller, light and responsive. The cord seems well made and good quality, so should withstand plenty of use.
Definitely worth buying if you want a decent 3rd party Xbox One controlle

The build quality feels great and it’s very light. It’s a bit tricky learning all the different settings but once you’ve got your head around them all it offers awesome functionality. 4 not 5 stars as twice now I have had the controller suddenly crash on me and lose all my settings, plus I’m already getting stuck drift.

I’m a big fan of this controller, i own the Xbox elite series 2 and comparing the two together, IMP the turtle beach recon is by far the better an go to controller.
Yea the elite 2 feels great and well built to the recon, but i had so many issues with the elite 2, where as the recon no problems at all easy to map the back buttons. An i love the pro-aim focus mode think its the first time ive seen this on a controller.
Aslo the thumb sticks on the recon just feel better too an the dead zones settings feel better to no stick drift at all.

What I most like about this controller is the built-in amp giving great sound to mid range headphones like mine almost doubling the output but time will tell if they are venerable to stick drif

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI’ve recently purchased the Turtle Beach Recon Controller and the Power A Spectra Infinity and whilst both are really good ‘budget pro controllers’ with extra features over the official Wireless Xbox One/Series S|X controllers, the Turtle Beach Recon Controller just might be my favourite.

+ Has a nice weight and feel to it. The controller is slightly lighter than the official Microsoft controller (and also the PowerA Spectra Infinity)
+ Kontrol Freeks fit fine, I had no movement or turning, same as an official controller.
+ Ergonomically very similar to the official controller.
+ Includes the impulse trigger motors for games like Forza (unlike the Spectra Infinity). Vibration doesn’t feel as smooth as the official controllers though.
+ Analogue stick tension slightly tighter and smoother than the official Xbox controller. Which is great for FPS and third-person shooters.
+ Back buttons are great, placed perfectly and bigger than the Spectra Infinity. Fairly easy to program with 4 different profiles which can be stored and easily selected from.
+ The microphone monitoring, easy volume and chat controls on the controller are amazing. Tested AKG K361’s and Antlion Modmic Uni plugged into the 3.5mm jack and was able to drive them to higher volumes than the official controller. Slight noise floor on the headphones but unlike my Xbox One controller there was no blips or noise when moving the jack in the socket (may be that particular controller).

Not that many negatives, although the controller and buttons do feel a bit ‘plasticky’. Not as nice feel as the Spectra which has better feeling triggers, shoulder buttons and d-pad. The included USB cable has a slight wiggle in the controller, and the start/select menu buttons are closer to the sticks which makes them harder to reach in the heat of the moment. The triggers also can be slightly noisier given the lip hits the casing. But there are no ‘deal breakers’ particularly given the price. In the short time I’ve had with it, I can’t talk about durability, but I hope that part holds up well too.

Overall I am really impressed with this controller which is fantastic value for money. The back buttons are great, the controller has a light weight to it and with all the grips and ergonomics fits really well. However the key unique selling point is the built in audio controls and features (which seem to match the Turtle Beach Headset Audio Controller Plus adaptor for Xbox One/Series S|X controllers). And those make the controller incredibly useful for online games where you need microphone etc. This controller essentially adds mic monitoring, EQ, volume controls and chat/game volume mixing on the fly to ANY set of wired headphones or headset. And having the mute button and volume controls right to hand all on the joypad can feel like a game changer too.

A very good 'budget pro controller' with a unique and potentially killer set of audio features

Great controller for value, unfortunately being wired and playing in a party everyone else hears a low buzzing noise from my mic. This wasn’t a problem with my wireless controller. But as far as playing with this I cannot complain.

I didn’t want a wireless controller, so I went for a good as possible quality wired one. This arrived today and I’ve been using it all evening on my PC. So far I am very impressed, it has a good build quality and the controls are very responsive. I had an Xbox 360 controller before which I didn’t like much but compared to this is like night and day. It also has some excellent features and handy extra buttons, like volume, mic and loads more I haven’t used yet. Great for the price.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersOverall built quality is excellent. Feels good in the hands.
Triggers and buttons have a textured surface which takes some getting used to, but should prove much better than the slippery triggers of a normal xbox controller.
Thumbsticks are also textured, which is a very welcome addition. The sticks themselves also feel great and they have a good springy feel with no drift that I could detect.

Onto things I am not so fond of:
D-pad travel is quite a bit more than standard. Makes using the D-pad awkward and slow.
Shoulder buttons are AWFUL. They feel spongy and often don’t register, or if they do register and you need to hold them down, the slightest reduction in pressure will disengage them.
The triggers are inexplicably the exact opposite. They stop dead against the controller casing and it is actually audible. Not a big deal in itself, but the difference between the triggers and the shoulder buttons are vast and that makes it uncomfortable, with a weird tactile feedback.

The addition of the additional buttons underneath the controller is great. They are positioned absolutely perfectly. And although they can be mapped to the thumbsticks, shoulders or D-pad as “alternative” buttons, they can’t be mapped to the menu selection buttons, which is a big disappointment for me because that was one of the main reasons I pre-ordered this. Because they claimed the buttons could be mapped to “any” buttons on the controller. This simply isn’t true.

I will persist with this controller, but it is not a comfortable transition from my older XBOX ONE controller.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWorks as well as an official controller and no annoying buzzing on my mic or echo echo echo…like you get with Power A pads. Long time old school gamer and am impressed.. although had a bad experience with headset from TB so can’t recommend their headphones but this pad is the mutts nutts for 50 quid sound investment. Happy hunting.

In my opinion the only reason this controller is cheaper than the official controller is 1: It is wired. 2: the base materials are a bit cheaper. But in every other way though it is brilliant!

What is bad: Aside from the cheap bas material (which is mostly covered by the grip) literally nothing I can think of. Even the packaging is good, and comes with a really helpful minimalistic booklet.

What is ok: The grips are not as “grippy as you think, and feel more like a texture, but it definitely helps keep a grip, especially when you get sweaty palms.

What is fine: The sticks are a TINY bit smaller than the official ones. I only noticed this as the rubber add on’s I have turn freely when I try to turn them. This will never happen accidently in game though.

What is great: All the buttons and are really responsive and not spongey at all! The D pad looks REALLY cheap, but It has some really good punchy travel to it. The sticks also have a really nice resistance to them, which I found was slightly stronger than my OG xbox one controller.

What is great: The gaming features are surprisingly good. one of the paddles activates a ‘sniper/throttle mode’ which decreases sensitivity. It has 4 modes and can be really strong! The audio features are quite nice, and feature a mode to listen to footsteps better. This works with any 3.5mm headphones too.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersUsed for a few days and prefere the thumbstick tension on these than the official Xbox controller.
Sound it good too but depending on headset may sound a bit odd . I personally would just use the standard sound(1 led light).
As long has it doesn’t play up this will be the best 3rd party controller out there.
I’ve had powerA controllers and all have a sticky button suction problem ,(basically the button stays down) after a few months.

The back buttons are the best I’ve used too
Overall not that different to an official Xbox controller but the thumbsticks definitely are better and feel less likely that they will have stick drift. On time will tell how good this really is

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersOk first impression. It is light (due to being wired and no batteries) and has a plastic velvet feel. The grips are a nice touch and prevent the sweaty hands from slipping. The triggers feel shorter press than the official xbox controller and all other buttons feel very tactile. The D-Pad felt a bit strange at first as it is like a deep dish and it has a lot of travel to press in each direction. I tried it on Street Fighter 3rd strike and was initially disappointed. But a few rounds and I was throwing out DP’s no problem. I wouldn’t say it is as good a D-Pad as the official xbox controller, (but nothing I have ever used is) but it is far and away better than the 8BitDo Pro which I hate for fighting games. Not tried the sound setting yet as I don’t use headphones much. But the analogue sticks feel as good as official controller. THe back customisable buttons are great too. Just need to work out how to set them for sprinting in FPS games.

Easily the best 3rd party controller I have tried. (and I have tried a few)

Edited: couple of weeks of use controller is still a joy to use. Great sound but wonky jack socket where sound cuts out at slightest touch, so unbearable in FPS games.
