After being disappointed with a new MacBook Pro and it’s complete lack of ports, this was an absolute must for using any kind of peripheral that doesn’t use USB-C ports. Colour matched the Space Grey MacBook colour. Seems solid and performs with anything and everything I’ve plugged into it.
It’s compact, cheap and plug and play.
The only thing to note is it can get warm after extended use
Like above. I got this to be able to communicate with other products and older devices. It doesn’t charge my 2015 iPad Air 2. Shame. Everything else works well.
You can easily pay triple this price for an adaptor that does the same job. I bought it for my MacBook and have had no issues whatsoever. Well made product.
This is a powerful usb c docking station
That consists of everybody that you will need to carry out
Every operation on my mac pc.
Its absolutely brilliant and well designed.
I will surely recommend this for your use.
love this hub, lots of functions, it looks sleek and very lightweight making it easily portable
As a professional programmer I’ve tried lots of dongles but this is the best so far for me
Recently brought a new mac pro and unfortunately, they don’t have extra sockets or USB socket- this does the job! it’s great to carry around and attach it to the mac- easily done and works a treat. I can now attach my USB printer cable to it too. I use it when I need to and this does the job.
Direct and honest review below:
– Clean-cut manufacturing and flawless assembly (except for a slightly clunky ethernet flap).
– Minimalist design: cool brand design, small light (lit when connected) and unnoticeable port labels.
– Clicks in and fits perfectly; nice how its the same height so 1.) it rests comfortably with the MacBook (on a flat surface of course) 2.) it won’t accidentally snap breaking both devices.
– Ports work and perform as advertised (though I haven’t tested the SD ports).
– Best value adapter imo in terms of available ports (both from the MOKiN and other sellers) and the fact that it doesn’t get hot (tested for 3 hours).
– To extend its life, I recommend connecting all the cables you need before plugging the adapter into the MacBook 🙂
My prime concern is the performance to price here, this is an expensive hub, so i wanted it to be my permanent desk fixed unit and only have to move my laptop (USB-C) on and off as required. For that this is a superb piece of kit, but for it’s price I’d not carry it around with me, it is most certainly a fixed in place asset.
Performance wise, absolutely superb, stayed relatively cool with my 64W charging pass through to my Lenovo laptop, drive my 2K HDMI screen no issue, Mouse and Keyboard attached, a 128GB SD Card in place and a USB Mic on the other side, then an ethernet cable, it is rather a marvel of USB-C that all this is driven together so smoothly.
I got 300Mb/s internet speed, and that full speed was what I have provided at my test site and seeing it through this hub with ALL the other items.
The price has me leery of carrying the unit with me, but performance wise for this price it is excellent.
This docking station is a blessing, it has the highest number of ports among all of my adapters and docking stations, and it definitely delivers robust and reliable performance.
This station features 2x4K 60Hz hdmi and 1xDP Display which makes it suitable for triple display pairing and allows you to power three monitors simultaneously, as long as you are using a Win system.
In addition to that it also packs several USB 3 and USB 2 ports, making it suitable for pairing several peripherals and devices or even charging smartphones and other electronics.
It has card readers which can be used for sd cards or bulkier camera cards.
This is an all rounder docking station with more than what I need. I always end up with spare ports and this is amazing considering how small the station is. So far it is working perfectly with no issues encountered.
Recommended!
This is a really good docking station and helps a lot when you have only 2 USB Type-C ports on your MacBook.
It has 12 ports and they are most of the types that might be needed.
There are 2x 4K HDMI ports – one 30Hz and one 60Hz,DisplayPort, 2 x USB2.0 , 2 x USB3.0.
There are SD Card reader,TF Card reader, which for me looks like MicroSD card reader,Gigabit LAN,3.5mm audio jack .
There is also USB Type-C power delivery port which is only for power and not for data transfer.
I have tried to plug different types of devices to use the port for transferring data ,but none of the devices was recognised.
The docking station has a pretty thick cable with USB Type-C plug at the end ,which looks like gold plated.
Overall good docking stations ,but the price of 59.99 is a bit too high for no USB Type-C ports that can transfer data and the USB Type-A ports that are USB 3.0 can only transfer up to 5Gbps.
There are many other docking stations that are cheaper and offer faster speeds.
Hopefully my review was Helpful for you.
12 IN 1 MULTIPORT USB C HUB, IDEAL FOR MACBOOK, LENOVO ETC AND ANY OTHER DEVICE WITH USB C PORT. PORTS ARE HDMI,USB 2.0 ,THUNDERBOLT AND VGA. SMALL AND COMPACT SO IDEAL FOR TRAVELLING WITH FAST DATA TRANSFER.
I have many different devices to connect to my iMac while working, so this adapter is a perfect addition to my desk.
You will get two options to choose from: either 1-12 or 1-7 adapter, depending on your needs – I have chosen the first option.
This adapter is just awesome as I can have 12 additional items plugged, and that includes:
2 x 4K HDMI
1 x DP
2 x USB 2.0
2 x USB 3.0
SD and mini SD slots
Audio jack
1 x USB-C
1 x Ethernet port
I used to have an issue with my laptop while working as it has only one USB-C port that I can either use to charge or plug in other devices, but now with this adapter, I can do both and I could not be happier.
This adapter is very well made from sturdy yet lightweight materials, so I hope it will last me many years. It is also nice and compact, so it is easy to carry it in your bag while travelling.
Currently, it is at the price of 54.99 (with 5 off voucher), including next day quick delivery and 30 days returns if anything goes wrong with the product. It is a bit pricey, yes, but considering how many ports this adapter had and how many devices can be connected to it at the same time and work with no issues, I think it is definitely worth it.
This well-designed multiport hub includes a USB-C output and inputs including – 2x HDMI 4K Ports, 1x Display Port, 2x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0, 1x Ethernet port, 1x USB-C Port, 1x SD Card Reader, 1x TF Card Reader, 1x Audio Jack. The quality of the whole product feels great, durable and sleek. I believe it will hold together for the long run. The design is very sleek with a stainless steel casing and quite weighted. It is very useful for laptops, especially if they’re missing a lot of the input ports that come with this hub, but can be used for any devices with a USB-C input. It has fast transfer speeds even with multiple devices connected. Overall, very happy with this device!
I often use my laptop with my TV for various things such as gaming and watching videos, this dock works perfectly for my use.
I’ve used mokin products before (including their other dongles) and have always been impressed with their quality, this dock has a ton of ports on it and they are all functional, plugging this into my laptop makes me feel bad about how little IO I have in my desktop.
When using this I had:
Display output to my TV
Controller Dongle
External SSD
USB-C Power
Headphone DAC
Ethernet
And I still had ports to spare.
Brilliant dock I would definitely recommend.
Anything that expands your IT inter-connectivity is very welcome, and the number of available ports on this and a card reader make it extremely useful and versatile. Will it work with everything, well, there is no saying, but this worked fine when I used it to connect micro USB to USB 2. My advice is to build up your stock of things like this if you use a lot of IT stuff, and have some legacy types into the bargain.
A very useful, high quality, USB C docking station with a decent amount of slots and compatibility. Having a lot of pictures and videos that need to be sorted from the last family holiday, this little device is perfect for that.
I can transfer a great many files to my 4TB external HDD while it only takes up one USB C slot on my laptop, leaving the other USB ports free for my wireless mouse and keyboard. The speed of transfer is very satisfactory.
The general feeling I get off this device is that of high quality. The price may be a bit steep but considering what it offers you, and the quality of that, it is quite worth it.
Thank you for reading.
Outstanding 12 port docking station
All usb are fast
Memory card transfer is very quick
Looks well built
Ideal for me as I was out of connections on the computer
This doesn’t take up much space
East to use plug and play
Most of the ports worked but the monitor HDMI’s were a little less realible. The idea is a great one and I think it may be my cable or monitors so am giving a 4 star for benefit of the doubt. Small footprint aluminium finish with loads of ports that worked seamlessly with my PC & Mac Laptops
This is by far the best docking station I’ve ever used. I use it for my MacBook as it doesn’t have any ports apart from USB-C which is such a pain! This adapter now makes it possible for me to use everything I could possible want! From HDMI, USB-3, SD Cards, Ethernet and even more! It’s an absolute lifesaver! Cannot recommend enough!
This laptop USB docking station display port has everything I need, and possibly need in most circumstances. Great dual display that worked straight out of the box. Connection to this hub is by a short cable with a male USB-C connection.
You get the following; 2 HDMI port, a VGA port, an ethernet port, audio port, a DP display, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 100w PD, an SD card slot, and a micro SD card slot.
This dock offers an ethernet port which is not found on smaller stations.
This docking station is dark grey, lightweight, but it looks durable. I can take my Lenovo laptop from work and set up at home in one easy step. I can now have another monitor display, charge my phone, and link up to my printer. Plus I have extra slots if I want to scale up.
Good value docking station at 58 much cheaper than a powered hub.
This Mokin docking station has a beautiful metal finish and, although larger than some docking stations, is still compact enough to easily carry around with your computer. The most important features for me are Mac compatibility and video ports: this has two HDMIs and also a DisplayPort, so that you can extend your Mac screen to TVs or monitors. It also has a good selection of other ports for memory card, Ethernet and several USBs, even an audio port.
This USB-C hub from Mokin is packed with ports to give your laptop (or phone) every kind of connection you want – 12 in total. It features a 3.5mm audio port, ethernet, VGA, display port, USB-C power delivery, SD/TF card reader slot and two HDMI and four USB ports. Two of the USB ports are USB 2.0 while the other two are USB 3.0. The ports are labelled for convenience.
Build quality is very good. The hub has a lightweight metal outer casing and a short cord with a gold-plated USB-C connector. The cord is a little stiff, but I find that they usually are so that’s nothing out of the ordinary. I own a few different USB-C hubs and only the ones from Mokin have gold-plated connectors so that’s an indication of quality as far as I am concerned.
In use, all the ports work as intended. There’s no installation required and data transfer speeds are up to spec using the USB 3.0 ports. You can’t use all the display ports for 4K at the same time, but again that’s nothing out of the ordinary. It’s not too big or heavy either. Really, this hub has it all. I can’t fault it.
This dock is the perfect size for a laptop bag, I do some video / photography work as a side business and it’s always handy to have a dock in the laptop or camera bag as you never know when you might need one, it does have a limited range of ports but should tick the box for most users that just want something to use with their MacBook (especially since they removed // reduced all the port options). Good dongle and worth the money.
Good product to add extra ports well made and packaged
This hub supports three digital outputs from my Windows laptop at 1080P, as well as having an ethernet port which is useful as many hubs do not have on board ethernet.
As is normal, using all three ports at one will not support 4K. Two ports supports 4K at 30Hz and one port supports 4K at 60Hz. Three ports are 1080P
Has two USB 2.0 ports which are perfect for keyboards / mouse / headsets / webcams. Two SB 3.0 ports ar perfect for data transfer.
Made in a rounded aluminium shell. Cable is rubber but still looks like it will handle a decent amount of wear and tear etc.
Supports PD passthrough to charge the laptop from.
Price at 58 seems right given the number of ports
Tested on a Dell XPS13
I hadn’t comes across MOKiN until earlier this year, when I reviewed a MOKiN NVMe external enclosure that was well made. This is also a nicely made unit and, much cheaper than powered hubs. Primarily for connecting a laptop to one or more monitors and devices, it will take up minimal space on a desk. The number of monitors and type of display will depend on the laptop, but surfice to say there are two 4K HDMI ports and one DP. There are two USB-A 3.0, two USB-A 2.0 and one USB-C PD ports. Additionally, there is an RJ45 for Ethernet, a combined audio 3.5mm port, and TF and SD readers. Connection to the hub is by a short cable with a male USB-C connection. The case is nicely finished aluminiun sprayed dark silver, with a black plastic insert at each end. This will join the Vemont hub on my desk.
This really is an all-in-one hub with more ports than you could wish for. It can pass through 4K Ultra HD at 60 fps and 100w power over USB. It’s got a Gigabit Ethernet port which is really rare in hubs like this and for my line of work having a TF/SD card slot is vital. It’s constructed from metal and matches the colour of my MacBook Pro. It’s cool to the touch so should allow for good heart dissipation when connecting numerous peripherals.
This gets a solid 5***** rating from me.
Thank you for reading.
This really is a bit of a Mega hub when it comes to connectivity, with the following 12 ports:
1. Dual HDMI 4K Ports
2. Display Port
3. RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Port
4. Audio Port
5. USB C PD port
6. SD Card Reader
7. TF Card Reader
8. 2 x USB 3.0 Ports
9. 2 x USB 2.0 Ports
With 2 x HDMI and a DP, this will support a triple array set-up for Windows and Extended for Mac OS. That is assuming your laptop can cope. It would also enable you to connect and run a Pen Tablet, while still having full access to your two monitors. I can run DEX from my Samsung tablet if I so wish and on both of my monitors via this hub.
There is quite a bit of flexibility here in the setting up of your displays with the option of having two monitors + laptop display or having three monitors and no laptop screen. This does mean that you must take the resolution down to 1080p. If you want to utilise 4K, then it is two displays only.
The 15cm USB-C cable is quite thick and firm, with the connector being gold plated. There is a 100W PD fact charging port, that can easily take my 96W power supply. Meaning I can charge my laptop, tablet, and mobile phone simultaneously.
There is an array of USB ports for external drives, keyboard, etc and you can run both card readers at the same time. Transfer speeds are excellent. Given that USB 3.0 is backwards compatible, it does make me wonder why there is the inclusion of 2 x USB 2.0, rather than four USB 3.0 ports? Perhaps there is a technical reason for this.
I connected an external SSD and ran a Read/Write speed test and they maxed out as 423Mbs and 410Mbs. For me, that is sufficient performance. Although I do not have a spare NvME drive to test, I would expect speeds to be double that of the SSD.
With the Ethernet port, not only can I hardwire my laptop but also my phone or tablet as well, rather than using Wi-Fi or my Data plan. Particularly useful if I am running DEX.
Overall, I think this is a great piece of kit, with rock-solid build quality and connectivity overload. If I were to be critical, I would have preferred one less USB port and had a USB-C instead.
I hope you found this review & photos interesting, informative, and useful. Thanks for reading.
NB. For a sizing guide, squares in photos are 1cm.
Really nice and doesn’t stand out from the laptop. It blends in well
It is solid, which was a pleasant surprise. It does the work, and it is well laid out.
The packaging for this is a thin card box, which does the job, although a corrugated cardboard box would have been preferable.
These are my main pros and cons for this product:
Pro:
Large selection of ports
Conforms to claimed specification
USB charging up to 100W (as long as other components are up to the job)
Good build quality
Con:
No lights to show connection status
A little loose, can be wobbled when in place
Gets very hot when charging above 50W
——————-
This is a very full-featured multiport hub, it looks good enough to go alongside your Macbook, although the colour doesn’t exactly match.
I tested data transfer speeds on all ports and they are all within specification.
The unit gets slightly warm in normal use, and very warm when sending power at 50W or above. I didn’t push it any more than this as I didn’t want to damage the hub or Macbook. Obviously this might be due to unit variability, so I wouldn’t let this decide the matter for you.
The build quality in all parts is good, although the main connectors are a little loose when inserted. I’ve not yet had a lost connection, but I doubt there would be a wobble like this on a genuine Apple device.
Despite these flaws I have to say that this is a quality product for a reasonable price of 30.
I bought this before I bought a case! Worked perfectly but not unfortunately with the case:-(
Great addition to make the most out of the MacBook
Compatible with my mac book,
Has all the ports you could imagine needing and comes with a little fabric case for storage in your laptop bag
This hub is great. I use it almost every single day whether I am on the go or at home. I take it with me wherever I go and has saved me countless times when I have needed to connect something to my 2019 Macbook Pro. The idea behind this connecting directly to the Macbook rather than having to use a hub on a cable makes it much easier and very slimline when using. Overall I really do love this product and I would be lost without it. I can highly recommend it to any Macbook Pro owners that are in the market for a versatile little hub.
It works and looks the part. Definitely value for money.
This was a great buy, I have previously bought other adapters for my MacBook Air, and they haven’t worked. this one is a keeper and works really well so far.
Does exactly what is claimed. Very sleek design. Goes very well with Apple products
I am very happy with my purchase. Worth the money!
The SD and micro SD card reader, USB. USB C, Ethernet connector all work very well in such a small device. The build quality is very good and it feels good. On the macbook pro it’s reversible so you can use it on the left side or the right side.
The product seems sturdy enough.
I haven’t used all the ports yet, but is working fine so far. Quality of finish seems high.
I would buy another.
A perfect little adapter – fits very neatly into the side of my MacBook.
This is very sleek and stylish port replicator for Apple products.
Every port you miss on your MAcBook is there:
2 pcs of standard USB3 ports
1pc HDMI for monitor or projector
1pc USBC for connecting the charger
1pc USBC port for connecting other stuff
You get also a microSD card reader and a standard SDcard reader.
Nice velvet pouch for transporting in your bag or sleeve
Great way to connect multiple cables and dock the Mac in my office. Also the devise is portable and lightweight!
eally nice bit of kit having all the ports i’ll ever need, Looks nice with the M1 MacBook Air to top it off
Such a good adaptor. Goes along well with my m1 13inch MacBook Pro. No problems with i
Excellent product used with my Macbook. I would recommend as is very useful and handy. Used the hdmi port to link to my TV and usb to connect my external hard drive. I have recommended to a friend who has also purchased one.
This product is just what I needed for my new Macbook Pro. Worked a treat. Just be aware you have to lift the black hinged lid slightly to connect in the ethernet cable.
Item came on time and as described, all functions work perfectly. The only issue is that when I have a hard shell case on the MacBook Air the adapter can’t connect as the case is in the way! A design fault on the case not so much the adapte
This is a really nice bit of kit. It slots into the two thunderbolt ports on the MacBook, doesn’t take up much room or require more wires. It adds sufficient extra connections for all my needs. Highly recommended.
This product works very well with my MacbookPro and it is very useful as it has most of the connection ports that I require.
The problem with buying a MacBook Pro is that it is always ahead of its time so it only has there USB C type ports which aren’t This little unit means that I can connect to my TV or monitor without buying new devices. This is what I use it for but it also has old style USB ports and ssd card reader. It works perfectly and I am very happy with it.
With the advent of the potentially multi-functional USB-C connection and a lot of mobile devices coming only with USB-C, adapters to allow you to use legacy USB-A connectors and maybe also SD cards and HDMI output have become pretty popular and there are many of them now on the market.
This one is quite different to most of them …. Usually, they take the form of a ‘dongle’ on a short, non-removable cord that plugs into your USB-C. They typically offer a couple of USB type A sockets, Micro SD and HDMI out. Those ones are pretty flexible, working on a variety of hardware but have some shortcomings like typically not supporting USB power input and often ending up hanging off the port with a short cable.
This Mokin unit is quite different – it is designed specifically for certain modern models of Macs, specifically Macbook Pro and Air 2018-2020. It’s physical construction is designed to match the case of your Macbook and takes up two USB-sockets. There is no cable – the unit effectively docks with the side of your Mac using the 2x USB-C connectors. IMO it looks quite nice but I guess some people might not like it or have problems with placement (it effectively makes your Mac wider).
It also has more functionality that your normal USB-C ‘dongle’ type adapter – principally it allows USB power input and it also supports a wired ethernet connection with a low profile socket which has a flap that flips up to take a cable.
In practice it worked great for me but there are a few things to note when I tested with a Macbook Pro 2018:
It only seemed to work when I plugged it into the USB-C connectors on the Left hand side of the laptop, which limits your placement (I had to stretch my HDMI cable around the back of the Mac to reach it).
The very thing that makes it look so good with say, a Macbook Pro, means you can’t really use it on anything else other than the Pros and Air models that it is designed to support, unlike a generic Dongle type adapter that will work on PCs, Macs and even mobile phones. I guess physical design changes by Apple in future models mean that possibly you won’t be able to use it with future designs either.
Unlike a couple of USB-C dongles with HDMI output that I have, seemed that there could be issues when I selected another input on it for my PC. Although windows and screens moved onto my laptop display when I switched inputs to PC, I had issues sometimes with them not moving themselves back over to the external monitor when it was switched back to the HDMI input connected to the Mac. I ended up having to physically unplug the HDMI cable and plug it in again to get the Mac to recognise that the display was available again. Hard to say if it was my monitor or HDMI cable, but I never saw this happen using the same monitor/cable with a couple of different HDMI capable dongles.
On the plus side:
It really matches the MBP 2018 very well and attaches sturdily with the two USB plugs. It also feels very premium.
For the large range of ports that it offers, it’s actually pretty compact.
The functionality it provides is excellent – you don’t ‘lose’ any of your USB-C ports when you plug it in (thanks to it accepting a USB power-in connection) and you get an additional 2x USB-A, SD and MicroSD, HDMI and Ethernet ports. Having all of that extra functionality with no loss of existing ports is fantastic.
Despite all the functionality, it didn’t seem to get unduly warm.
To sum up, if you have a supported model of Macbook this is a terrific multiport adapter and actually priced quite competitively with the higher end dongles. Just be aware that whereas it offers great utility for the hardware it is designed for, it’s not flexible in terms of what other mobile devices it can be plugged in to so you might not be able to take it with you to your next Mac and won’t be using it with a PC. Phone or non-supported Macbook.
Hopefully this does everything I need from an SD card to an Ethernet cable, with a few USB’s thrown in as well. Quick delivery and comes with a nice little pouch to protect it. It’s a good colour match for my MacBook Pro as well.
The adapter allows you to use a number of non usb c devices at once.
It gives good flexibility, but at the loss of 2 thunderbolt 3 ports.
The advantage is it is easy to carry and attach when needed, it is stable due to the double port attachment.
For those who don’t want to loose 2 ports you can get a single usb c cable adapter on Amazon.
I find it useful for when I need access to usb or sd card access, without any hassle.
Useful for its variety of ports.
This review is for the USB C Hub Adapter for MacBook Pro 2020/2019/2018,MacBook Air 2020/2019/2018, MOKiN 8 in 1 USB C to Ethernet Dongle Adapter with 4k HDMI, 2 USB, TF/SD Card Reader, USB-C 100W PD and Thunderbolt 3
This is a great quality hub and must have accessory for anyone with a MacBook. It fits really well and blends in with the Mac great. Adds lots of additional functionality to Mac too.. very handy. Would Defo recommend.
Let’s start with the simple fact that it can play as fast charger (usb cable not included) and this is already a good start ..
Then it allows you to connect usb to hdmi for image transfer on other devices … (cable not included).
Connect phone and data transfer ect …
Connect cable internet for faster internet (good if you download large files ect)…
And it is also of good quality i thought this when I have it in my hands then i confirm it when I use it and I notice it is fast and easy to use and don’t get hot…
If these cables were included it was the top for beginners.
Very solid construction. Matches the macbooks surface. Feels like an Apple product. Well worth the money that it costs
Perfect adaptor for the MBP – works like a charm
I have tried many macbook USB type C hub adaptor, and I have to say this would make my top 3 favourite list.
The things I like:
* great match for space grey colour
* fast 104Mbp/s read speed on SD/microSD card port
* Gigabit ethernet port (with expandable flap)
* HDMI 4K output at 60Hz (based on newer MBP model)
* handy pocket travel bag
* thin profile form factor
The gotchas on this hub is:
* no support for external (usb) super drive
* will not fit if using external macbook casing
Overall, it’s a nice compact hub (with ethernet port) that looks aesthetically pleasing and compliments an existing MBP.

This is well made, good colour match and lovely fit to my Mac. The connections are all good. Weight is very light. The cat connection means you have to click up the connection end but it is straightforward and means it keeps the overall unit slimline. If you have a Mac then this is certainly recommended.
Useful hub as now we no longer have to use adapters to connect the usbs and hdmi separately. Much more convenient having it all in one.
I am rating 4 stars because it gets quite hot and when that happens, you can’t use the hdmi with the usb charging, rarely an issue however and the build quality is really solid!
You’re probably reading this because your MacBook doesn’t have enough ports. I certainly found it frustrating that they don’t come with any more.
This USB C hub adaptor has been the perfect integrated solution for me. (I don’t want a hub that hung off the end of a wire).
It has every port you can imagine, and most important for me is the Ethernet connection which allows me to plug straight into my work network.
I thought it was going to be made from plastic, but it metal and blends in very well with my MacBook. Overall, I’m very happy with this product (with its numerous ports and build quality), and as such, this will be a 5* review.
Thank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.
I have had this brand before I had a hub that I ended up using for my iPad Pro 2020, so needed a replacement for the MacBook
Mokin is a quality brand that I really tuck pleasure in using, I got this 8 in 1 adaptor it is well made with a finish,
This fits perfect on the side of the MacBook Pro without any issue or having to be forced. The hub has everything you need and I mean everything.
You have
2x usb c (one can be used for power)
1 X USB 3.0 + USB 2.0
HDMI
SD Micro
SD Standard
RJ45
This is a very versatile hub and the quality I expect from the brand.
Over all 31.99 is good value (at time of review) I highly recommend this product ( just one thing you will need to remove any case you have on the MacBook)
This came in a smart, simple retail packaging and inside you get the 8-in-2 Adapter, Soft Storage Bag and simple instructions.
It connects to the Mac by way of 2 x Gold plated USB-C Thunderbolt Male connectors. Once docked in, you have access to the following connections:
1 x 4K HDMI
1 x Ethernet RJ45
2 x USB-C/Thunderbolt PD
1 x Micro-SD Card Slot
1 x TF-Card Slot
1 x USB-3.0 Side Port
1 x USB-3.0 End Port
This almost ticks all the boxes for me. Although, with a dual monitor set-up, it could do with an extra HDMI or Display Port but I could go via a USB-C to HDMI/Display Port cable when needed.
The overall build quality is rather good, with the aluminium casing, and the ports/connectors all look to be very well finished. The layout of the ports could have been better. I would have preferred the HDMI port to be at the same end as the Ethernet, rather than sitting behind the two USB-C ports but I am most probably splitting hairs here. The Ethernet port has a slightly strange set-up, in that it is hinged, and you need to lift it up to insert the cable.
It is slim and light enough to take when travelling or, as I will, have permanently set-up on your desktop. My current set-up is not designed to really take a Mac and my daughter wanting one for college, this will give her to option to dock with my main office set-up. Rather than docking the Mac straight into this, I will run a couple of short extension cables between it and the adapter. This will reduce any strain when she is using her Mac.
Performance is good and, price wise, it does look slightly more expensive than similar adapters on the Amazon UK website. The only thing I am unable to really comment on how well the dual USB-C connectors will stand up over time.
I hope you found this review & photos interesting, informative and useful. Thanks for reading.
Brilliant Adapter.
I was sent this product in return of my honest review. As an owner of a 2018 MacBook Pro. This is my honest review on this product.
I work in advertising which means plugging in a lot of SD Cards and USB into my Mac. This adapter essentially does all of this, but in one small sleek metal box. I used to have about 5 adapters.. Now I only need one.
The Mokin is coloured the same as your MacBook, so they look brilliant when it is plugged into the side of it. The Mokin also allows you to plug the following into your Mac; Ethernet, Power, USB-C, HDMI, USB3.0, SD cards, Micro SD Cards, and another standard USB port. The ports are nicely spaced, so you can have everything plugged in at once.
The Mokin is powered off 2 USB-C ports within your Mac, which distributes enough power across the whole adapter. I have used Ethernet port, had a keyboard and mouse plugged in as well as presenting a presentation at work and it has worked perfectly.
The adapter also allows you to close the laptop lid without issue.
I would 100% reccomend this adapter. It also comes with an excellent travel pouch to protect it. Brilliant quality and a must have for any MacBook user.
USB C Hub Adapter for MacBook Pro 2020/2019/2018,MacBook Air 2020/2019/2018, MOKiN 8 in 1 USB C to Ethernet Dongle Adapter with 4k HDMI, 2 USB, TF/SD Card Reader, USB-C 100W PD and Thunderbolt
The product.
This is a port adapter for the Mac Book Pro. It plugs into the side of the Mac and gives you lots of ports in one place.
Build quality.
It is well made and fits very tightly into the Mac.
In use.
It gives you all the ports you need including a card reader which is very handy. USB, network and HDMI are also here. It is very useful as it provides extra ports.
I have used the USB ports and card reader and these have performed perfectly.
Overall.
A great item to have to expand you Mac Book Pro. Gives you all the ports Mac missed out. They work perfectly and provide just about all the connectivity you could ever want.
Very pleased with this purchase. I really enjoy how the product looked and felt. It does not look or feel cheap. Frees up ports on my laptop and makes switching from my home office to the living room a lot easier while working from home with only 1 thing to connect/disconnect each time. I use it almost every single day and so far I’ve never got any problems with it. Video quality is very good with 4K HDMI connection. I like that when you connect it to your mac, an internal light turns on so that’s cool.It is very slim and light. Easy to carry. If you are looking for a quality product at this price then this is your best optio
They base range of MacBooks give you 2 USB C/Thunderbolt ports; an Apple ‘multiiport’ adapter gives you an HDMI and USB port for 75 .
This adapter gives you: an HDMI port; 2 USB 3.0 ports; USB C to 3 card reader; 2 USB C/Thunderbolt ports; an SD card reader; TF card reader and an ethernet connector for 32.
It’s pretty much essential to have an adapter with a MacBook and this product fits the bill.
Well made and well specced.
This is perfect in every way. IF you need a USB c Hub adapter, and let’s face it, who doesn’t, this will literally fit all your needs in terms of adaptors for USB c products. I sue it with my MacBook Pro and it is perfect.
We have only tested this once and for maybe 30 minutes while we went through the different types of plugs. The transfer speed seemed good and there was no overheating of the product. It fit flush along the MacBook so it didn’t look messy on the table.
It is very light and whereas that is great for portability, it also means that it might break more easily than something made from stronger materials, but so far we’ve not experienced any issues. We do think is that it is quite expensive compared to what other similar products we have seen on the market at around 20 (where this is currently 31).
This doesn’t feel as heavy as it should, given the metal appearance and number of connections.
It does however work as it should and sits well in the dual USB C sockets of the Macbook Pro.
It has a variety of connections so should suit most use cases.
The main benefit of this adapter compared to others is the onboard Ethernet port.
The adapter has everything I need day to day including the pass through and enables me to just have to plug the adapter into my MBP and everything is connected.
Sockets are well labelled as well
Using this with a 2019 MacBook Air provided by my employer.
Works perfectly, sits snugly against the chassis, still allows me to charge the MacBook Air whilst this is plugged in and I have loaded USBs in every available slot and it still coped without any issues.
There are literally hundreds of these kind of hubs to choose from. This one happens to have an SD card slot, which I don’t need, so if this wasn’t supplied to me I would chose one with more USB ports instead.
Looks nice, feels well made and works perfectly.
This type-C hub is brilliant it runs cool even with multiple devices plugged in at the same time and having high power PD input is a huge bonus. You have all the ports you’ll ever need when on the go including a handy 1GBps RJ45 ethernet socket and a couple of type-A ports along with an SD card slot so perfect in every way so highly recommended.
The biggest advantage of this device and the reason I chose it, is the included Ethernet port. There are so many of these adapters on the market now and it’s always difficult to find one that does what you need. I used to use a number of different adapters to get everything I needed, but that meant plugging and unplugging 3 cables every time I moved the Mac. This condensed everything to the one adapter, which even has pass through charging.
It’s built really well and fits my MacBook Pro 18 perfectly with no wobble or difficulty plugging it in or taking it out. The ports are clearly labelled so you can see which ones are fast or for power and it covers most things I would need to add.
Overall it functions perfectly and I no longer have to worry about lots of different cables.
Hopefully my review has been helpful
