had this unit for 3 years now, brought as have c.o.p.d and asthma. when you look at the filter each month you see exactly what this unit capture’s. I purchase a new filter every six month’s but every month I pull out the filter and hoover gently. I wish they would invent a small each room device

I bought this VAX HEPA filter unit cheaper from Amazon warehouse. It came in its original box but sadly it was minus the remote control and user manual. This is not a problem however because the unit is very easy to use. The unit has a very large HEPA filter in the base, and a very powerful fan to pull air through the filter. The unit is silent in operation unless the higher two speeds are selected, in which case it becomes very noisy but also very powerful.

Normally it is just left in automatic mode, so that when it detects a high level of airborne contaminants the unit reacts to this and automatically Increases the fan speed.

I am very happy with my purchase and would thoroughly recommend.

This was a “Which?” Best Buy a few years ago, but now “Which?” say that there are better units on the market. The VAX unit is a must for allergy sufferers.

All I can say is that this is totally perfect. The air in the house is dust free. Cannot fault it at all

We live in flat on busy road. My eldest son struggle from dust mite allergy and pollen.
I keep this Air purifier on all night and day at auto mode. When I’m cooking something and it smells of fried oil, purifier switches from green light to red,and working very hard to clear the air.
I can see that it’s working.
Air is fresher then was before. My son is sleeping and breathing better.

It moves a lot of air which is what I was looking for. Max fan setting does sound like a jetplane taking off however but even though I have this next to my pc setup my microphone is fine with dealing with the noise suppression of it. Night mode is prefect enough for me on noise levels. Only problem is the remote control. I’ve switched out batteries a few times now but it somehow kills them strangely fast considering I barely use it apart from conveniently changing it into night mode if I forget to change it on the way to bed. Haven’t had the chance to replace filter yet but will edit this review in the future.

This is the second one ive bought, gave the other one to my son who suffers allergies , it cleans the air, and helps with my allergies to cat dander. Its quiet and the filter normally lasts me around 4-5 months, i just order the filters from vax, the only gripe i have with this is that the filters are pretty expensive, but overall its worth it.

Although it seems a large appliance it means it can be centrally placed in the house, whereas many of the small appliances would not even cover a good sized room.
Easy to set up and use. Could tell the difference from the first day – it does seem to have improved the air quality to such an extent that hay fever symptoms are reduced.

We have had ours for about 3 years now and when you replace the filter you can see just how much stuff this thing pulls out the air, theres a couple of videos on amazon reviews, one is making a noise that sounds like the fan is grinding against something, this is not normal and that unit sounds faulty.

The other review the person puts the fan on the highest setting, clearly not knowing the point of the setting and just complains about it sounding like an aeroplane with engine failure?? Besides that being a massive overreaction on the reviewers part, the highest setting will completely filter a large (average living room size) room in under 5 minutes, I know because when we were sanding our plastered walls to smooth them over I used this to clear the air faster and filter out the dust and it worked really well, still kept a mask on while working but it significantly reduced the fine dust.

Anyway, on low it’s barely noticable unless you stick your phone and or face over the top vent, I’d rather use this than some cheap chinese knock off that doesnt filter properly or claims to have a HEPA filter but it’s just a dirty rag the manufacturer found laying around.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this towards the end of 2017 due to consistent dust allergies. This has honestly been one of my best purchases in the last few years (although I don’t buy many materialistic items haha).

Helped highly with air quality in my room – my room is a medium sized room – double bed wardrobes, tv with plenty of space to walk around and it works wonders here.

The auto setting is good and works as it should do, so much so that when my brother farted next to it it the LED automatically lit up red and turned into hurricane mode. Jokes aside, the highest setting is quite loud and noticeable and I wouldn’t have it on for long periods on that setting.

Medium mode is still quite loud (I wouldn’t sleep with it on medium) but then again guess that’s what sleep modes for!

Anyway main reason for leaving a review almost three years later is I thought there would be a notification telling me that the filter needs changing but I haven’t had any lights flash and my brother that enjoys farting next to it suggested I have a look. Yes, yes there was a lot of dust almost like a layer of skin with slight wrinkles and folds and even a couple of drive-by-gun shots (metaphor – please see picture you’ll see what I mean) so instead of replacing the filter at 10.16pm on a Thursday night got the old dyson out and hoovered it up, worked wonders on the outside mesh of the filter but couldn’t really get at the inside – I’m guessing the inside shouldn’t really be played around with as it had some fibres so left it be.

So I started it back up and again and seems to have more air flow.

On the note of the remote – it wasn’t the best part of the purchase, it wasn’t highly responsive and it was quite small and easy to lose which is what happened to me. I know these days smaller is better but not in my case.

10/10 from my view highly highly recommended.

Amazing item for dust allergies but give the filter a clean!

This is an excellent product for people with dust mite allergies. I have both the 300 and the smaller 200 model (one for the bedroom and one for the living room). It is very quiet during normal operation, and it can get even quieter in night mode where the light also is barely noticeable. It also has a remote and the HEPA filter can be easily changed.

When the purifier detects something harmful in the air and it is in automatic mode, then the circular light turns red and it starts filtering the air with a lot more intensity and gets noticeably loud, which is a good thing, because it notifies you to open a window and clear the air. This however can be changed manually or via the remote. The filter can be replaced after few months, at which point you realise how much dust the filter removes from the air. The white filter becomes brown from dust.

For me this has truly been a life saver. I was diagnosed around 3 years ago with severe allergy related asthma. Pollen and dust being the main triggers. This really has been a life saver for me, it has enabled me to create a safe space at home when i am triggered. I have had the Vax Pure Air for close to 3 years now and would not be without it. I also use this every night to ensure i can sleep through the night. The night mode is so quiet and nearly all of the lights go off so this has never kept me awake. I cannot recommend more highly. This has made such a difference to my quality of life that i would never be without it. I do have a couple as one remains permanently in the bedroom. You could easily move this around to different rooms if needed though and it is not too heavy. The filters need to be replaced on average every 6 months for me, although this is with mine being on for a minimum of around 10 – 12 hours a day. The remote control and the controls on the air purifier itself are so simple to use. I had tried other brands due to the cost of this air purifier but none helped at all. I would not be without this now. If you are in the same position as me i really would recommend the Vax Pure Air 300.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOk let me be honest.. it’s a LOT of money..

But does it live of to its claims.. short answer is UES it does. Air feel noticeable lighter and fresher.

The negatives beyond price has to be size! This bad boy is packing some timber!! Ultimately this was the deal breaker for me and resulted in a return. I do not suffer from any breathing related illnesses and I guess if I did I would buy this again in a flash as it’s size is worth the compromise when you consider how well it works.

Very sceptical paying that much for a device you can’t see working but this does work. Got 2 new dogs which after a month I find I have a problem with their dander (like hayfever). No way the dogs were leaving, more likely it would be me according to the wife. So I invested in this and I have to say it works a treat. Not 100% but maybe 90% of my symptoms have gone. Happy days, money well spent!

I bought this on the hope it would help reduce hayfever symptoms at home, it’s made a huge difference and now I know I won’t be suffering with this on! Not as noisy as I’d feared, high setting is loud but just use it for a quick blast to clear the air then leave it ticking over on auto.

Not cheap but worth the investment!

I recently bought one of these as I have multiple allergies. I use it on a high setting for about 30 minutes before going to bed and all night on the sleep setting. It has transformed my health – I no longer wake up with blocked sinuses etc. The sleep setting is very quiet and you really don’t notice any noise. I bought my machine direct from Vax as they give you a free replacement filter worth about 50.

Golden Review Award: 60 From Our UsersWhen you search ‘air purifier’ on amazon you will see a wide range of cheaper products. Most if not all will come with a HEPA filter – the all important specialist filters that can remove microscopic particles from the air.

The problem with most of the cheaper models is that they either dont specify a CADR rating on their ability to remove dust and pollen etc, or they have a low rating – rendering them useless for all but small sealed bedroom use.

This Vax model comes with a CADR rating and its one of the highest of any of the models available to date across all fields (pollen, dust). It is also suitable for large spaces – 120ms – which is practically a whole house.

One thing to note though is that the high CADR rating will presumably have been measured with the unit on ‘high’ mode – which is ‘very’ noisy. This may be fine if you position the unit in a part of your home where the noise will not be as intrusive – in theory as long as your windows are closed and internal doors open it will still recirculate the air in your home, as its powerful enough.

The alternative for those who want to use this overnight in bedrooms is to close your bedroom door and window and have this on low mode (there is a night mode but the air flow is so low i question whether this actually does anything). Low mode is quiet enough to sleep yet still effective in an enclosed room.

I have this in my kitchen, with the ioniser function enabled. I have a cat and find using this regularly (as in few hours a day) on auto mode keeps the dust and cat hair levels from the air down (you can see it when a beam of sunlight comes through the window – there is a noticeable difference in bits floating in the air).

The filters on this model are ridiculously expensive though. Vax really should fix this as their main competitor (e.g. philips) filters are cheaper.

So all in all I would recommend this model if you want a reasonably priced unit which actually works. Beware the cheaper models on amazon and always check the CADR rating and room space they’re designed for vs the use you want it for in your home.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe have two units, one for our kitchen another for the upstairs rooms. These units work very well and everyday we turn them on for an hour to incrementally cleanse the air. Sensors are sensitive and will definitely detect changes in air composition and quality e.g. heavy cooking in kitchen – it detects and works hard in conjunction with the kitchen extractors. Design is sleek and it sits inconspicuously and elegantly in corners. We have had these for more than 1 1/2 years and filters have yet to need replacing but one drawback is that the filters are expensive. Overall, a solid product.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this machine 1 1/2 years ago. We purchased a house that need gutting downstairs and we “camped” upstairs. The dust was HORRENDOUS! My allergies were even worse. After plugging this big boy in it took a few hours for the red light to go off but the air felt cleaner and my allergies cleared up after a few days. He was a godsend. The bad news…he’s BIG, he takes up a lot of room and he’s difficult to hide away. The worst news…the filters are expensive! Buying him was the best investment ever but I haven’t purchased a new filter yet. He has been sitting behind my bedroom door for about 6 months because the old filter now stinks of dust. I’m going to splash out on a new filter today and I’m honestly very excited to get him out again!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersSpent months researching air purifiers and tbh it wasn’t easy finding unbiased advice or reviews in the end I became so frustrated I chose the vax purely because they are a household name and reliable.

What an amazing bit of kit. Quiet but powerful. The smart sensor is spot on, I can have a cigarette on the first floor of my house and it will detect this on the ground floor within 4 min and activate (if auto is selected).

Amazing simple bit of kit that does what it says from a reliable easily accessible source.

Most things were of good quality but not all. Must be more careful in future. The details aren’t as good when you purchased items. For example my mail box was so heavy to put on the front of my house, it looks more like a safe than a mail box. Well built very ugly. I’m using it as a safe to put money away under the stairs. Very poor and disappointed.

I moved into a new build and soon started developing a stabbing pain in my lungs and waking up with water retention in my face and hands. This air purifier reduced these symptoms immensely. Its become my new best friend and I drag it from room to room and sit or sleep in a bubble of purified air. I was using WoodyKnows nasal filters (usually used for hayfever) before buying this which worked well also, but weren’t as comfortable as they restricted breathing.

It does get loud and does look like an office building lobby ashtray from the 80’s but I wouldn’t be without it, especially as new phases of construction on my site look to continue for months.

Once construction is over and the amount of dust in the air settles, I plan to keep this in the joint kitchen / living room to help mop up the air during / after cooking.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this from VAX rather than Amazon as VAX had a free filter offer & free next day delivery. I suffer from chronic hay fever which this year has been particularly bad & turned very asthmatic. I already have an air purifier by a different manufacturer in my bedroom which helps me to sleep, but during the day I have been suffering terribly while working in my home office. I ummed & ahhhed over which air purifier to buy & finally chose this one. I have to say I think I made the right choice. My hay fever symptoms have been dramatically reduced during the day to the point where, so long as I stay in my home breathing the clean air, I can live a normal life. When I do go out the symptoms seem less & clear up quickly once I get back to my purified home air. The unit has an optional ionisation facility that is on by default but can easily be switched off either on the unit or with the RC. I leave it on for additional air purification. The unit also comes with a small but neat remote control. Be careful you don’t lose it as I have misplaced mine several times. My trick is to use some sticky back velcro on the main unit & the RC. Whenever i’ve finished with the unit I replace the RC back on the unit using the velcro.

The unit runs almost silently on the night setting and a neat feature of this setting is that the indicator lights on etc unit are dimmed so they don’t keep you awake. The noise is very bearable on the auto setting and starts to get louder on the medium & high settings. The high setting is quite loud indeed & quite distracting. In a large room it may not be so intrusive, but in my home office I can’t really use this setting & usually settle for the medium one below it. This clears the air very quickly & after a few minutes I switch to the auto setting which maintains a clean atmosphere with a lower filtration rate. I switch it to night setting when i’m away from the office for a while and at nights. Some reviewers have mentioned plastic odours from the machine. Mine smelled a little for the first day or so, but after that it was fine.

The rated wattage for this unit is 60 Watts making it a very small drain on the electricity. At that rate you can run the appliance for about 1 day for 1 unit of electricity. One downside to this purifier is that replacement filters from VAX are a bit on the dear side. However, as far as i’m concerned, anything that helps with my hay fever is cheap. I have yet to check if alternative unbranded filters are available from anywhere.

All in all, a very solid well made appliance that I would highly recommend, especially to allergy sufferers & anyone with breathing difficulties.

Golden Review Award: 36 From Our UsersBought this beast after the dust from our never ending building work started to get seriously out of hand and was making us ill. We positioned it in the hallway next to the stairwells and, after just a couple of hours, could feel the air improving all over the house. We had our first proper night’s sleep for weeks, with no coughing and less wheezing from me and no sniffing or sneezing from the other half. We already have a smaller Vax AP02 in the bedroom and a mini Vax AP01 in the caravan which help me manage my asthma very effectively and I rate both very highly, but we needed something bigger for the rest of the house and the Pure Air 300 is in a different league – simply amazing. It is so quiet, compared to the smaller models and, on night mode, it just whispers, making it easy to ignore and sleep through. I love the way it responds to changing air conditions – every time it detects a wave of dust, or the toxic smoke seeping in from our neighbour’s woodburner, it revs up and clears the air in minutes. When the soil pipe was being cut in our bathroom, it eliminated the odour immediately. One small downside is that the dog is getting a complex, as the machine revs up every time she walks past it, however, it has certainly driven the message home to my other half about how much dust he has been carrying around on his DIY clothes. This machine takes up a bit of space as you need to keep a margin around it for it to work properly but it is not unattractive and has serious capacity. Great for large, open plan areas. Very pleased with this purchase and the delivery was very quick and efficient.

It’s quite large like a large floor standing ashtray and very quiet untill dogs disturb dust when (on auto) the fan works harder. We don’t find it intrusive and it quickly goes back to very quiet mode. On low we don’t hear it at all. Initially we are leaving it on night mode through night.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought this on the strength of a Which? review, plus others’ comments. I don’t find it excessively noisy, even on the highest setting, although you certainly know it’s running then. At the lowest levels it’s almost silent. The sensor is located at the back of the machine, and air intakes are front and back, so sometimes it’s not as quick to ramp up if the dust etc. is directional from the front. If left on auto in a dusty atmosphere, or where there’s a draft, it can ramp up and down quite frequently – I tend just to put it on the middle setting if this happens. It clears particulates (e.g. smoke) very quickly and effectively, but it won’t work on cooking smells – or rather, it will remove the smoke but vaporised cooking oil can taint the filter (so you get the smell of cooking next time you use it!) The only real drawback I’ve found with the unit is that it is very light and easy to knock over, being fairly tall – I wouldn’t use this unsupervised where there are young children or pets.

    PARTICLES REMOVED

This Vax does a near perfect job of removing pollutants from the air, with 93% of the particles used in our tests captured. Poor machines capture around 40% and the worst machine we’ve seen removes so few particles that officially, we can’t report on the exact figure.

Night mode is quite and it automatically detects air quality and adjusts the fan speed accordingly.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGreat product, already feeling the difference and we only had it 2 days. We live in a really polluted area and this makes it much the quality air at home much better. We leave it on all day and night. So far so good. Would definitely recommend it.

It’s pricey, but it’s good, A sleek, ergonomic design, very easy to use controls and a simple light coding to indicate the quality of the air in the room. Mine was showing green for good in my living room, I moved the unit into the vestibule shared with the smoker in the upstairs flat and it immediately turned to amber for ‘fair’, so it obviously works. The unit makes only a gentle purring noise when operational which is a major plus. All round good job.

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersUPDATE: THE FILTER REPLACEMENT PRICE too expensive so I washed it even its not recommended washed it with bleach left dried for few days and it works as new 😛 it’s almost the same material as hepa filter in your vacuum cleaner 🙂

Everything is OK with this purifier but I didn’t know that vax doesn’t use the true hepa filters, it makes me wonder how they get the CADR ratings. Filter in this one looks like a really big hepa filter from baggles vacuum. Doesn’t have any AC(activated carbon) layer on it. Just basic hepa.

UPDATE: I realized that all of the customers reviews are wine reviews, and they are not quite clear, even Vax official webpage does use the same reviews as u can find here on amazon.
I put some pictures of purifier and the hepa filter. It it just a big hepa filter I would say its aquatically made pretty well it doesn’t says TRUE hepa but it maybe does the same job ? I was looking for ionizer most of this kid of purifiers (upright ones ) usually have two needless on top so the fan can blow air on them and spread the ions easily . But what I found on this one it does not even have the needless it have just two naked cables as u can see on pictures. I have no idea it maybe provides the same job as purifiers witch have proper needless but it look really cheap to me and the ionizing unit is on the same panel with some Chinese and English writings on it , maybe how many ions it produce but this u wont hear from vax I guess ? It looks like some type of model used by more companies, the front panel with traffic control changing lights looks like it suppose to be some numeral LED but they scrapped it off. Like my feelings are a bit confused? with this purifier, plus auto mode little tiny light doesn’t work but that don’t matters as it doesn’t affect the purifier. I bought this one as returned one for discount price seller stated that it may have some cosmetic damage, maybe that control light. But in overall its really big unit and its silent only on first setting with power consumption only 7 watts second setting 25 watts and it blows quite nice blow of air and around 57 watts on third. It could get the Energy Star rating. Night-mode uses only 3 watts but really small air flow and it may become useless with cleaning the air and I have no idea if ionizer will stay on or be turned off . And u can see inside as I take off the hepa its filled with polystyrene and again I have no idea how long will last in this unit I know that washing machines are filled up with concrete to combat with “turbulence’s“ but why they used this material in air purifier? I am using it in a smaller room air is nicer but still can get the right feeling as I bought it in summer and I have to open the window so filtration of this become useless. I could not say its a bad purifier but what I`m guessing is that VAX just made purifier looking outstanding but after further investigation u realize that is just a magic with no magic in it ….

It doesn't use the TRUE HEPA but some kind of vax hepa

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOn opening the very large box that this comes in you will see a lovely looking machine, it is big ( 27 high X 12 inches across ) but when not in use just push into a corner out of the way. Before you plug and play take the green tape off at the back remove the filter and take the plastic bag off , then you can start.
We first tried this just after we had the painter in and kept it on overnight to help with the paint smell and the muzzy head in the mornings, we got a yellow light (poor) when first turned on and green (good) in the morning and no muzzy head. Hay fever has really been much better as well and no headaches with keeping the windows shut at night. The lights are red poor , yellow fair and green good, there is a fair noise from this on full but as the day goes on you can turn it down and in the evening you can put it onto night mode ( light out and on tick over) . Pollen, dust, mould, pollutants and for the cooks smoke removal are all taken in at the base through the filter and clean air out of the top there is a replace filter reminder as well so it covers all.
The price may look a bit of a worry but if it works on your allergies / headaches etc then it is well worth it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a serious bit of kit. That much is probably obvious from the price but it is worth mentioning two things straight away: this significant investment means finding space for something fairly large but that works really effectively.

This is a big device, you can see the dimensions in the listing but it is roughly the size of a medium pedal bin and so you are going to need to have some space in whichever room you place it in. It is always going to be obvious, this isn’t something you can hide discretely away in the corner. It has several settings but on first use I simply turned on Auto and allowed it to get to work. I was terrified slightly that it would declare the house unsafe for human habitation and it did work itself up into a frenzy to begin with, it makes a bit of noise when running full tilt – but after a while it calmed down and I really did feel that the air in the house felt ‘cleaner’, if that makes sense.

The hay fever seems to be particularly bad this year and I find that the mornings are when I tend to suffer most. I was hoping therefore that this would help to alleviate those symptoms by purifying the air overnight. There is a night-time setting which is thankfully much quieter and so I have been trying it for a few days and I must say that I have been waking feeling much clearer, allowing me to take an anti-histamine during the day and allow the machine to do the work overnight – a godsend.

It remains to be seen what the running costs for this will be over time with electricity and replacement filters etc etc but it’s fair to assume that anyone looking at purchasing this is doing so due to serious respiratory issues and so an investment in something serious that works is the main consideration. In that respect I have to say that so far this air purifier is proving itself to be worth every penny so far.

As I get older, my hayfever seems to be getting worse. And moving from a city to a semi-rural location where I both live and work really made March onwards quite miserable in that respect. So I was delighted to be given the opportunity to trial this Air Purifier, as it claims to reduce the amount of airborne allergens around, including dust and pollen.

The first thing to say is that this device is huge, and heavy. It stands around 70cm tall and is 30cm in diameter. It’s quite smart and sleek, but it will be noticeable in your room. It is advised that it is positioned about 50cm away from a wall or large furniture, which again doesn’t lead to it being inconspicuous. We’ve had to have it closer to a wall than this due to the position of our wall sockets and the fact that the cable isn’t very long.

It’s very easy to set up and get going, either on the device itself or via the remote control – which is a tiny little thing about the size of a credit card. So far, we’ve only used it on the lower settings as it does get very loud on the highest ones – think washing machine on spin loud. Given that we’ve yet to have the air quality light show anything other than green for “good” (there’s yellow and red for “fair” and “poor”) this I feel is sufficient.

So – is my hayfever better. Well, yes. But it’s oilseed rape and tree pollen that are my triggers and there’s less of that about so it’s difficult to pinpoint what is making the difference. The true test will be in April next year, I feel.

NB: although the product description says “Product Dimensions 77 x 34.5 x 34.5 cm,” it actually ships in a box which is more like 80 x 54 x 43, so be warned.

I am pleased with this product. I have already tested it on clearing the atmosphere in a room in which I have been evoking demons (nb: I mean because it clears the clouds of incense in the room. I have not tried it on the demons themselves), and it makes the place seem light and fresh and ready for a brand new ritual! More prosaically, I have also tried it out when I have been cooking pork chops on the grill and the smoke alarm has decided to sing me the song of its people.

Although the unit takes up some space, I believe it is worth it for the utility I am getting out of it.

This is slightly bigger than I expected but to be fair mostly my fault as I am clearly useless at dimensions. Would compare the height to be the same as my 50l pedestal bin but slimmer. Very heavy as well. However I did feel like it helped to alleviate symptoms of hayever which is exactly it’s purpose

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersLooking like a large kitchen waste bin this is an effective air filter. It works and there is really little else it can do as it contains a powerful fan which draws air in through a large HEPTA filter and blows the filtered air out of the top.
    .
In auto mode it decides the fan speed which is from reasonably quiet to very load, there is also a night mode where the indicator lights are turned off and the fan runs very slowly. In night mode although the fan is quiet there is an annoying woop-woop which sounds as though the fan bearing is slightly off centre. There are 5 manual fan speeds and a timer to determine how long it will run for.
    .
The unit also includes an ioniser which can be switched on or off.
    .
There is a light that indicates air quality which changes from green (good) to red (bad) it is difficult to tell in my case how effective it was as it always showed green which may indicate I don’t need it.
    .
The instructions say that it is most effective when placed in the centre of the room, no doubt this is correct but you then have an extension lead to trip over, the connected one is not long enough and it dominates the room even more.
    .
I wonder if these types of filters will be going the same way as computer printers where the devices are initially reasonable but consumables are expensive. Even with this one the filter should be changed every 6 months and the cost of the filter is a 1/15th of the list price of the complete unit.
There is a warning light to show when the filter needs changing so the quoted filter change time is probably an average.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWow. When it arrived I was shocked by its size. However what it used up in room space it hugely makes up for in design, functionality and efficiency. I put it in my hayfever suffering daughter’s room. The next day she woke up with no more sniffling. Amazing.

The product is very easy to set up and has a handy light which indicates the quality of the air. Green for good , yellow for less good and red for bad. When I opened up the window for “fresh air” the light immediately turned yellow, then red – due to the high pollen count. I shut the window and it easily and quickly filtered the air and turned green again. The fresh air comes out of the top of the machine. It has a timer function and a sleep function which keeps the air circulating but much more quietly and also turns the light off.

In summary this beautiful machine seems worth the price tag. What price can you put on a good nights sleep during the height of the pollen season? My daughter uses her room as a refuge from pollen. A great product.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have been using this for a few days now. It is easy to operate whether by using the remote control or manually. It has nice bright backlights so you know exactly what your machine is doing. I have been using it on auto and it buzzes quite quietly in the background and then every so often when there are cooking smells in the air,or impurities such as pollen or dust it will blast out until they disappear as it draws the bad air in and blasts the good clean air out..It is quite loud when this happens but it does not last for long. The machine is about the size of a kitchen bin but still looks modern and is a nice clean looking white. It is recommeneded for everyone but especially for hayfever and asthma sufferers. My husband has both.He genuinely thinks that his airways are clearer and his hayfever has lessened and he has been out in the garden cutting the grass to test it out. After doing this he is usually bunged up for hours afterwards but with this in the house he is much better not nearly so bunged up as he usually is.Personally I also think the air is better it actually feels cleaner like when out for a walk in the fresh air. This machine is very expensive but if you or someone in the family suffers it is worth buying as the long term results are really good and better than taking drugs. Hopefully a cheaper version will appear soon come on the market as this one is probably to much for the average person to pay.I have only knocked a star off for the price, the machine itself is great.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy first thought when I opened the Vax ACAMV101 Air Purifier was its very big!
I have mild asthma but it can be more severe in summer,so this product has brought me relief when I find the air being quite heard to breathe unaffected.
I particularly found the Vax Purifier most effective at night when on sleep mode,I awoke without that heavy morning feeling,I normally get at Springtime and I think the fact you get a change filter reminder is a good selling point,I also like the retro look,it reminds me of a better looking 70s Dust Bin and I like the while colour.
As for the price,if it helps a family cope with a better spring time than coughing sneezing and having watery eyes, its worth it all!

This is a top of the range Air Purifier.
It is quite big and chunky.
    This is definitely hard core.

The claims are that the Vax Pure Air 300 Air Purifier is the UK’s most effective way to clean the air in your home. It traps dust and pollen particles in the air which reduces the effect of allergies, asthma and hay fever.

    This Air Purifier:

Removes 99% of harmful particles as small as 0.3 microns.

Draws in dirty air and releases clean fresh purified air.

Dust sensor and indication light lets you see the air being cleaned.

It has an Air quality indicator that allows you to adjust the filtration speed to get the best air quality.

Suitable for rooms up to 120m2.

    It has 5 speed settings.

It has a Timer for 1,2,4,6 and 8 hours.

It also has a sleep mode and filter change reminder.

Overall this Air Purifier has it all.

This is a godsend for anyone with any allergies such as Hay Fever or Asthma.

    I like this machine.

Perfect uniting you suffer with allergies. Hay fever is o e that comes to mind. As for me I suffer from asthma. ‘ve been asthmatic since a child. Having this unit on for two hours I could feel my lungs easing up. This unit which I might add I’d as big as my kitchen bin really does work hard at keeping the air clean. There isn’t much more I can say about it. As for the price being slightly high. It’s truly worth every penny.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a fairly sizeable and hefty air purifier: it stands about 2.5 feet high and has a footprint of about a square foot – it’s also fairly heavy so not what I would describe as easily portable. That said, it’s designed to look very sleek and modern so that it’s not an eyesore. It’s easy to use either with the remote or buttons on the unit itself and it’s all straightforward and intuitive.

On auto, it visibly ramps up to deal with cooking odours and also when I open the window letting London’s outdoor pollution in: very reassuring. There are a variety of settings to suit your needs, also a timer. It’s fairly loud on the highest setting so I wouldn’t use that if I were in the room.

It’s clearly not cheap and you will need to factor in the cost of filters but if you suffer from allergies or are subject to respiratory problems and live in an urban environment then this may well be worth the cost.
