Video Doorbell Camera KAMEP 1080P Wireless Doorbell with 32GB SD Card, Chime(Battery Included), PIR Motion Detection, 2-Way Audio, Night Vision, IP65, Support Cloud Storage/Max 128GB SD Card
The doorbell arrived quickly. This is my first smart doorbell. It was easy to set up with its own app. The instruction was clear and simple. The camera quality is quite good. With my home wifi connected, I’m able to see what’s going on outside my door. The chime uses batteries to run, or the power can be supplied via a USB cable. The range is far enough to put the chime two rooms down the hallway so I can hear it when I’m in the kitchen. The design is quite sleek so it is small enough to be installed on my door frame. Now I can talk to the postman if I’m away from home. I’m very happy with this door bell.
My neighbour had a break in last week, so I was thinking of a camera doorbell. After reading a few reviews, I found that this camera door bell is best suited for me. It is very easy to install, not hardwire. The video is clear and the two way speaking function is very helpful. I can check who is at my door whenever I want. I feel very secure after installing this camera door bell.
Read the reviews for this product and decided to purchase after a few strange incidents around my property. It was easy to set up and install and does the same job as a Ring Door bell but at a lower price. If you are in the market for door bells, I recommend you look at this.
I have been receommended by so many friends who purchased through AMAZON, the price is much more competitive than big brands yet quality is still good. I cant wait to open and start using it. The instruction is also quite easy and connects to phone easily. The volumne of ring is good sound too, I can hear it from anywhere in the house. Thank you AMAZON for bringing this product to more users in need.
Quite easy to set up , it really pick’s up everything even pedestrians beyond our drive ( 20 metres ? )
Quality great , it’s been up about 4 weeks haven’t charged it up ye
Images and video quality are acceptable and it is easy to set up and use. The CloudEdge app is user friendly however depending on your wifi it can take a moment to connect to the camera remotely by which time the person could have walked away. I get it’s encrypting the feed for security but definitely costs time to do so.
One of the two units I purchased also does not report the battery % correctly but actually lasts the same in real life so haven’t bothered with a return.
Note: returns are actually handled directly with seller so may make issues longer to resolve than an Amazon direct purchase.
In hindsight I would have purchased the budget blink camera or eufy and spent a little more for the reliability aspect.
Does exactly what it says it will.
I must also say how good the aftersales was though.
My doorbell arrived without the SD card. With just one email questioning if one was supposed to be included and their reply to say yes it should have been. I confirmed my address and a card was sent out. No quibble…..very impressed!
The doorbell its self seems of good quality.
I suppose at this price compared to “the known brands” time will tell.
Currently all is good though.
Great price, delivered swiftly. Superb instructions and the unusual gift of some spare items (extra rawl plug, fixing screw and security screw) which most suppliers fail to include! Simple to connect to Wi-Fi as long as instructions are followed. Great to have separate bell included at no extra cost. If I had another front door, I’d buy one more!!
The motion detection is a little slow at reacting when someone walks in from a slice side angle, but the picture quality is good, outside lights seem to blow out the image at night. Other reviews have complained of battery life, my Battery lasted a months from original charge. Don’t get much passing traffic of people or cars, so it’s what I would have expected.
My overall opinion is it is worth the money.
Product very easy to setup and install, night vison very poor, athough motion sensor set to 1 metre still picks up motion a metre away which is annoying getting reports whose walking up and down the outside pavement.
Really like this. But the intercom function doesn’t work – you cannot speak to who is at your door. Contacted customer service support and I am still yet to receive a reply over a week later.
Other than that, the camera quality is great even at night. The motion detection is good too and I like how you can adjust the sensitivity. Very easy and quick set up took less than 5 minutes load an Pair up to my device. Sharing with other family users was fast too. Almost 5 stars, shame about what I would consider the main feature of being able to speak to visitors
Nice little camera. Turned motion detector off as tamper alarm kept going off. Video does lag sometimes by the time it rings caller is already leaving but ok other times. Not bad for the price. The tamper screw can’t be too tight or the alarm will keep going off
I’m really happy with this, it does everything the more expensive one does which my partner has on her home, arrive next day with prime and so far so good, Yeah spot on as far as I’m concerned
I got one of these and found the picture quality, motion detection to be excellent and very reliable (so far). I have since bought 2 more for my extended families. Super easy to setup, and very user friendly interface.
This seemed to get the best reviews for a wireless video doorbell, and I can confirm it is a good product. Looks great, easy to install, the app is easy to use particularly with the latest update. Battery seems to last about a month which is fine as we are not on a secluded back-road so it gets a fair bit of movement, and it is great at ignoring cars and picking up people movement instead. Slight negative is that sometimes the saved recording misses the first second or two of detected movement/speech on playback. This doesn’t seem to be as much of an issue from my partner’s huawei phone than my iPhone. Doesn’t come with the angled or corner mounts so you will need to contact the seller for those, but it has a very wide field of view.
In the box is everything you need, however I would strongly recommend upgrading the screws to mount to a door as these are a little flimsy
Once charged syncing it to your phone for setup is painless, takes around 3 minutes
Mounting it and securing in polace gave one inital problem (and scared a DHL driver) was after a few ring and going in and out the tamper switch was ever so slightly loose, so when DHL push it a siren went off. This was remedied by attach a small rigid foam .5mm strip in the house to help ensure the switch was flush. Since then, no issues.
When you are not home you get an alert that looks like a phone call if the doorbell is rung and seems very clear.
Once I’d overcome the problem of installation and setting up (more on that in a moment) everything worked perfectly from the word go, with none of the connection problems, picture quality issues, time lapse delays, etc, that some others have reported on. Battery life is even better than I had hoped for. The one potential flea in the ointment is location. I live in a terraced house and it faces directly south. The literature warns that this could lead to operational difficulties due to overheating in summer and of course, on the few sunny days we have had of late, the glare from the low lying winter sun all but obliterates the picture.
I consider myself fairly average when it comes to IT and techno stuff and have a range of clever gadgets around the house that I have installed myself. However setting up this doorbell proved anything but straightforward. Could be that I was having an “off” day but I found the instructions in the usual Sinoese (Chinese English) guide rather difficult to follow.
Top tip prior to installation. Before you try to pair the phone with the chime make sure that the Tamper Alarm (Settings – Alarm Management – Tamper Alarm) is set to “off” to avoid being blown out of the house by the really loud siren which otherwise will go off continuously as soon as you touch it. Also, once installed and in use, the time will come when you need to charge up the battery (after 5 weeks mine was down to 60%) so remember to disable the alarm before doing so. You will need to remove the security screw which secures the bell to its casing. Do so with great care. It is tiny and will all too easily fall away to the ground as it did in my case. Took hours and my wife’s better eyesight to recover it.
Very Easy to set up and use. No need here for long winded reviews . Just follow the instructions and you won’t have a problem. Play with the App to find your way around for fine tuning.
Much easier than the Ring ( which I sent back) and a much more sensible price.
Get one
Great value for money but mine has an issue when using the answer function, the camera end can hear me but I can’t hear then, my partner the same on her phone. Other than that it’s great, I have changed my score based on the fantastic customer service at the provider, they are sending a replacement device
This is an excellent product, if anything it is too good. We live about 5 metres from the road and it picks up pedestrians and vehicles, so I am going to get a wedge to hopefully alleviate these problems. As the product is so good I am considering getting one for the back of the house as we have a large garden and the doorbell gives such good coverage. All in all this is a great product and good value for money.
The fantastic product and easy to install, Really clear picture, works well, provided you have a good internet connection on your phone when you’re out Pretty easy to set up, I really like this Video Doorbell. Would recommend this product and company 100%.
Seems to work well and do the job. Used big command strips to stick it on my front door.
Had to turn off motion sensor as an alert went off on my phone everytime myself or partner went in and out the house so it’s better when it’s used as a doorbell with camera.
Extremely easy to set up and install, only had for about a week now but it seems to working fine. The message response sent to my phone is immediate and the picture quality is above and beyond what I thought it would be for the price I paid (55).
The only problem I’ve had is with the Tamper Alarm – it tends to go off for no reason, day or night. So I’ve turned that feature off, as it’s not really needed at the moment.
Edit 28th December: I’ve now bought my Mum this doorbell as well as she’s disabled and she finds this so helpful to see who’s at the door and if she really needs to answer it.
The doorbell is good, very loud and good reception. The resolution of the video is also adequate. Took two weeks to share. Good things are worth buying.
only got this for the camera side really after someone tryed nikking a bike
pic is just as good at night as it is in the day
lets me know as soon as someone comes in the garden
thinking of another just for the back garde
This doorbell is excellent for the money! It’s so good I have purchased again for my daughter’s new house.
The doorbell comes with a memory card so you don’t have to worry about subscriptions for the video’s it takes.
The video quality is really good and the doorbell has an anti tamper alarm built in.
Just buy it, you will not be disappointed.
Used ring door bell for 3 years was never happy, this product on the other hand is so much better, easy to install, picture quality much better Including at night and motion detection spot on. Highly recommended
Very easy to attach to door and to set up .Love it as I live in a flat on my own and it gives me a sense of security to know I can see who is at the door before I open it or who has been at my door when out . Very clear pictures and picks up any movement outside my door . Would highly recommend .
Well I received this item purely to cover my front garden and drive way . I have to say I was pleasantly surprised , the item comes well packaged , seems to be made to a high standard , is easy to use and attach ( comes with fixings ) . The app is easy to set up and offers you many settings. I especially like that it Captures facial pics if anyone uses the doorbell whilst you are out and the camera it self looks stylish. I was more than happy with the picture quality which is crystal clear especially with the zoom facility . I highly recommend this product to people who do not want to pay silly amounts for a
Doorbell camera.
Amazing! It’s made me feel safe because when anyone’s in front of the camera my mobile alerts me & show’s me a video. For the money it’s great. Love it!
This is really good camera the wide angle is brilliant battery life seems good but have been playing as it’s a new toy so using all the different set ups ,sound is good when talking nice and clear ,the he picture quality is great ,like the idea of it takes a snap shot of the moving object then you also have the recording as well ,was dead easy to set up even connecting the bell ,and I like the idea you can have the bell anywhere as it doesn’t rely on a electric socket so great when out in the garden ,the Wi-Fi is better than the previous models and the bell has a light which lights up when people are in view so they know what to press ,haven’t really got any dislikes compared to the big name high price bells this is really good.
I bought this to replace an old chunky video doorbell and it hasn’t disappointed! Picture (day and night) and sound are crisp and clear.
Motion detection is accurate and only people are picked up- unlike my old one! Easy to share device on another phone using QR code and love the fact you don’t have to use cloud service unlike an alternative branded one!
Easy to setup and we’ll worth the price – Definitely recommend 🙂
Everything very good apart from when battery low you have to dismantle door bell and charge the whole bell would be better if you could remove battery and charge and replace battery but not a big problem.
The doorbell is good as we like the wireless features so we can move the bell to any location and it is loud. The video works well also however if you don’t have a good mobile signal it may have a problem alerting you however when you do it works well, you can answer the door from anywhere. Great if waiting on a delivery that you can speak to the driver and advise where to leave the package.
Wow let me say what a great camera…..
I had one of the better known makes of video Doorbell and it was OK it did what I wanted but for the price I expired more, than after 2 months it packed up so I thought I would give a budget one a try. The first 2 I ordered would take ages for the phone to notify me that the bell has been pressed so they went back quick sharp.
Then I chose this one and to be honest I just thought it would be like the other 2 How wrong was I the Video is great the Audio is great and the press of the bell is instantly sent to my phone…
I was blown away as to how good this Video Doorbell is for the price… sure you may have to charge the battery every couple of months or so but that is a small price to pay for the Quality.
I would not hesitate to recommend this little beast as my go to Video Doorbell.. Buy it Try it you will not be disappointed.
This video Doorbell camera was super easy and straightforward to set up, unlike some I’ve used. The picture quality and functionality is brilliant. I have this situated facing my driveway which is about 8 meters from house & WiFi and no problems at all. Be ordering another very soon *****
Pleased with the purchase –
Pros
1. Price is a big factor, its definitely worth it
2. Good build and quality
3. SD card is a major plus, so independent of any cloud
4. Wireless and quick installation
5. Easy to share the device with members of the family
6. Not sure how many will appreciate this, but this doesnt have any brand label/name printed – this is exactly what I was after.
7. Wire-free chime
Cons
1. Wish it can be integrated with Google home,
I am glad I bought this and I will recommend others. Note this is only a recent purchase, so will keep a tab on the battery performance.
This is my second one of these , this is an upgraded version of one on my home , but this one is for my mum.
Just as simple to fit, have chosen to hard wire this for ease of use , solid build , personally think the build is better than ring.
Good pic quality and the motion detection can be a little over zealous at times detection of every thing can be frustrating but this can be adjusted .the night vision can be a little underwhelming but is adequate.
The app is a little clunky, but functional, the pairing can be a pain, but the Bell parts spot on.and once it’s all set up it gives you a notification on your phone like your recieving a phone call, which you can ignore or answer and speak to your visitors without moving .
Does its job over all ,fair pricing and value for money.
The fact my mother can find her way around it is a bonus
A great product, easy to set up and use.
First of all, I received the product and it was packed well. It was easy for me to set up the video doorbell, only a few steps I did and it was ready to use. The app which you will use with the bell is called CloudEdge, it is easy to use.
The chime which comes with the doorbell is already connected to it, and the good point is that the chime works on batteries. So this could be useful if you want to put it in a place where no socket and also it can be moved to any place you want.
I like in this chime that you can choose from different sounds, and also give the option to be low or high volume.
This doorbell gives very good quality images, audio and videos, brilliant night vision and great adjustable motion detection.
Now in terms of how quick you get the alerts, as soon as press on the doorbell, directly I receive an alert message. Also, the doorbell has one more good feature, which I believe is a very good one, it lets you answer the doorbell from anywhere through the App, so in case you are outside the home and someone visite you, you can answer him.
Excellent value for money. Motion detection works perfectly and night vision and picture quality are all excellent. Highly recommend this video doorbell
This is a brilliant doorbell camera. The picture quality is great, even in night vision. The alerts you get when someone is at the door is very handy if you are not able to answer, you can simply talk through the speaker and let the person know. Overall very happy with this purchase, highly recommend!
This is a great doorbell. I really like the video quality and motion sensor is very good actually. Night vision is very good. Overall is a great doorbell and I would strongly recommend anyone to purchase it.
Great door bell, arrived on time well packaged
Really
Easy to set using the instructions. It took minutes
The night vision is great and wide camera angle is fantastic
Would
Definitely recommend
Very good doorbell camera. The image and audio quality is very clean and clear. The cloudedge app is very easy to connect with the camera and the settings are also intuitive. Easy to set up, It only took me about 5 mins to fully set up out of the box. Its fully wireless so no need to worry about wiring, just drill a hole in the wall or door and screw the doorbell in your desired position. It also comes with wireless chimes so we could get alerts when our phone is not near by. Overall cant complain with this device, best buy for this year.
The doorbell looks very well made and was well packaged on arrival. Most of the packaging was recyclable. Instructions where the best I have seen for this type of product. Setup was really easy and the item was working within a very short time indeed. The chime was certainly loud enough and easily heard. I was also surprised at the quality of the app. It was very comprehensive and easy to setup and use. Not sure how long the battery lasts but there is a charging plug on the side to recharge. Image quality is very good although if there is a bright background the subject at the door will appear dark but this isn’t a fault of the unit just how cameras deal with large variations of exposure. Very pleased with my purchase and will buy another for my office. Update: Had to charge the battery on the 30 Dec so got around 2.5 months between charges which is good.
Easy to install and set up good picture quality, motion sensor can be set at different levels, records to built in sd card which you can clear easily in the app.at anytime. Cloud storage available if required, easy to use app
This video door bell is very easy to setup. It requires no wiring installing the door bell. All I had to do is charge it, position the doorbell, drill holes and screw it into the bracket. You do need a strong wifi signal so if you router is too far away from where you want to install, then you might have to install a signal booster near the doorbell.
Overall, the picture quality is good and the alert on the mobile phone is responsive. With the price being reasonable and good quality video, I would recommend it.
i have found that the quality of this camera and the support which comes with this camera are very good. the Night vision is as clear as day. the day light side of the camera is very clear as well. only thing i think they need is a link or a part number so you can order the angled bracket. i know i would preferred an angled bracket so i could watch the whole of my drive in front of my garage. highly recommended regardless
I wanted to wait a little before posting a review, to see how this doorbell stood up over time. After one month of constant use, I can safely say that is one of the best purchases I have ever made.
At 69 standard price (I paid less as Amazon had a 20% voucher on the item), it offers the same quality and important features of the latest generation Ring which costs over 179. (HD, Night Mode, Motion Detection, Intercom, Access from anywhere via mobile device, Live access to camera etc)
Build quality is great and image quality excellent in both day and night mode. Access is via the CloudEdge app, which has a simple interface allowing access to various features and displaying a neat history and video snapshot of all visitors each day. There is no need for cloud storage subscription as the device has an SD card for storage of video footage.
Upon pressing the bell, visitors appear on your mobile device (s) with a familiar call like display, showing a still thumbnail image of the visitor and the option to accept or reject. If answered, you then move into a full video intercom mode. This works remotely, enabling you to see and talk to visitors when away from home. The doorbell also comes with a wireless, battery operated chime which works alongside the mobile notifications, meaning that even if your phone is not nearby, you will still hear the bell.
Access to the bell can be shared with other members of your household (via the CloudEdge App) so any one of you can answer, wherever you are.
Battery life is impressive. It arrived with a 60% charge and after over 1 month I have 40% remaining. I’d expect it to last around 5-6 months between charges with constant use.
It can be concerning trying alternatives to the big name brands but this is proof that it often pays to do so.
I wanted a doorbell camera with a memory card and there was lots of choice, so I choose this one.
Update after usage. Taking it back, the alarm has been going off randomly and the live view bit rate is appallingly slow at 11kbs
I like the fact is that it came with a memory card, also that it has a wireless door bell chime too.
The camera quality could be a bit better but overall it is okay.
High pictures and video quality.Easy to install and setup. Feel free to leave home and wait for communication with someone who rings the bell. It meets all the criteria of a good video doorbell.
Bought for monitoring our front garden and also to answer the door when we are not in. Does it deliver? Yep it certainly does.
Crystal clear pictures day and night and very good motion detection. 32Gb card inclusive which holds the videos too.
Easily connected to my wifi router and attachment to front door with simplicity.
Can set the sensitivity on the motion detection which helps as high sensitivity caught a moving bus at the road on the end of my path.
I am very glad i purchased this at a decent price and delivers what more expensive doorbells does plus!
Buy this for peace of mind and if you are security conscious.. A+ from me..
To fit this to a front door I used a 6mm drill bit. This was the perfect size for the raw plugs. I also used my own double sided tape for extra adhesion.
If you are setting this up on your phone make sure that you have excellent wifi to your phone. I had a case on my phone which for some reason seemed to reduce the wi-fi signal which was causing me to not find the device for about 20 attempts. Once the case was removed it found the phone and linked the doorbell to the wi-fi first time. Don’t go through my pain..!!
Once set up it was fine. You can set the sensitivity of the motion detection, this is required unless you want a hundred notifications a minute for animals, flying birds etc.
Night vision is absolutely perfect. So far so good.
A smart looking video doorbell which is easy to connect and to fit – remember to disable your 5GHz wifi at your router as these types of devices use 2.4GHz signal.
The chime receiver takes 3AA batteries rather than plugging into the wall so although you’ll have to keep an eye on the battery life, it does mean you have flexibility on where the chime is in the house, and it could be moved around easily.
The only drawback is that it will need charging overnight once a month or so, leaving you without a doorbell or video surveillance for that period. A second battery and charger would be perfect for this kind of product as you could then have continuous use of the helpful functions it provides.
The doorbell and chime came together in a well-presented box, very securely packaged. The box includes the doorbell, indoor chime, AA batteries, screws & tools, and a clear and simple-to-follow quick start guide.
It was very easy to unpack and set up – I was able to do this in around 15 minutes, including the configuration within the app. You do have to wait a few hours for the doorbell to charge initially, however.
When the doorbell is pressed, it immediately sends an alert message through the application, enabling you to answer the visitor from anywhere you may be, given you have a stable internet connection. A sound is also heard from the doorbell itself as well as the indoor chime. The indoor chime comes with a selection of 4 ringtones and 4 levels of volume control.
The doorbell is rechargeable and waterproof and can be mounted using sticky pads or screws which are both provided. At night, it automatically switches to infrared and so it can continue to record in the dark. Lastly, a motion detection feature is also available, impressively distinguishing between humans and animals.
Pros: Good image quality day and night; effective motion detection (with option to only alert for humans); good battery life; timely motion/call alerts; recording to local SD card with option for Cloud (paid for); handy option to choose a pre-recorded message when bell is rung; tamper alarm; can share device to other accounts; good wifi range.
Cons: No support for mains supply for either doorbell or chime (so have to be periodically charged); no option for local network storage of media; slightly buggy “CloudEdge” app; can’t dismiss “The resident message service has been turned on” notification on phone.
When I received this doorbell, and chime both had no power so first had to get some charge into them. Once it had enough to power on I was able to connect it to the “CloudEdge” app where it immediately updated the firmware of the device.
Setting up the device was simple, having logged into the app with my facebook account.
The configuration options were good with options to set up alerts on motion detection with the ability to fine tune the sensitivity as well as restricting alerts to only humans to avoid noisy alerts due to passing traffic. You can also set schedules for when you want to receive alerts or not.
You can pre-record messages which, when the bell is rung, you can select to play from the app instead of having live interactions with whoever has rung the bell (if it’s not convenient for you to have a conversation at the time).
Video recording can be set up to save to a local SD card (included) or to use the paid for cloud storage (free trial available) that I haven’t used. I would have liked to have the option to save to local network storage so that if the camera is stolen I can still have some footage without having to pay for Cloud storage. It does have a handy tamper protection alarm, which , when set, will trigger an audible alarm if the camera is removed from the bracket.
Compared to previous bells I have used, this one has a much more timely alert on the phone when the bell is rung, which is great! It looks like this is enabled by a “Resident message service” that is enabled on your app. Although this is great to get timely alerts of people at the door, this also means you have to have a permanent notification on your phone about this which is a little frustrating.
Alerts for motion detection come through promptly to the phone, but seem slightly buggy in my experience where they should come through to the app but when you click on them you don’t immediately see the image. (They do appear to be available later.) Also when you click back from this alert view, instead of taking you back to the main menu, it quits the app.
Frustratingly I can’t sign into the app with my own account with multiple phones (it logs you out of the other phone) so you would need separate accounts to which you can share the device (although not particularly intuitive as to how to do this, it seems to work well).
This can also prove useful in non doorbell related contexts. For example I was able to use it to detect and record mice in my shed (this demonstrated good wifi range as this is away from the house) as well as using it for older children to contact you if you have had to pop out of the house for a short while.
All in all I like this device and it has a great set of features. My main drawback would be it’s lack of options to have it powered in situ to avoid having to charge it periodically.
All good bar tamper alarm been going off on it when no one near it so had to turn it off & I put the doorbell in right from the top but still goes off, especially when bin men doing their job
Very very easy to set up. Excellent picture. Great adjustable motion detection and brilliant night vision. There is a little security screw in the bottom with its own special tool to secure and remove so the gadget can’t be nicked from its mount and also an alarm if it does get dislodged/ tampered with. But by then the culprit is also pictured and sent to your phone. I am extremely pleased with this and would totally recommend it. I feel very much more secure in my home with this.
I was recently invited to review the 2021 version of the Kamep video doorbell being the satisfied owner of the previous model that I purchased last year. I had already concluded that doorbell to be an excellent acquisition, so I was keen to see how the new model compared.
Unpacking revealed a slightly smaller, lighter video doorbell and a much larger cordless chime. The doorbell itself is powered by a rechargeable 5000mAh Li-ion battery, but it can no longer be hard-wired to a 12V ~ 24V AC or 12V DC power supply. This no doubt streamlines the internal electronics and attributes to the reduction in size and weight. Besides being connected to the mains via the supplied USB cable, the chime can now be powered by 3 AA batteries (supplied) which offers more flexibility and convenience when it comes to its placement. The supplied Quick Start Guide is not a comprehensive as the previous version, but still adequate to get up and running.
The doorbell ergonomics have been completely redesigned, whilst still retaining its IP65 rating. The charge port is accessible on one side and a microSD card slot is located on the opposite side, where there is now an on/off button; the card slot is now much easier to access than on the previous model and mine came with a 32Gb card pre-installed.
Once the camera was fully charged, setting up was a breeze via the QR code and the CloudEdge app, as was pairing the doorbell to the chime.
When it came to installing the doorbell, I was a little annoyed to discover that the screw holes in the wall mount did not align with those of the previous model. However, once in place, I did think that it looked rather classy.
According to the specification, the 2021 version has a camera viewing angle of 145, which is a 21 reduction compared to the previous model. However, the difference was not all that apparent in the video images, as seen from a screen dump of the CloudEdge app (see attached photo). In the limited time I’ve had the camera up and running, motion detection and night vision appear on a par with the previous model.
One gripe I do have with the previous model is the delay in communicating with the CloudEdge app after the button on the doorbell is depressed. Often notification is received long after the visitor has departed! Thankfully, this seems to have now been redressed in the new model. Moreover, video images download to the app much faster.
A useful new feature is the tamper button located on the rear of the camera. However, one must ensure the camera is located snugly into the wall mount to avoid sounding off the alarm prematurely. The tamper alarm is controllable via the app, however.
All in all, the 2021 version is an improvement over the previous model, incorporating some nice new features and improved performance, and in my opinion offers excellent value for money. Unlike some of its competitors, I’m really pleased that Kamep have retained the versatility of the microSD card slot for recordings, although cloud storage is available for an additional charge if desired. However, those wishing to connect the doorbell to an existing mains transformer may be disappointed.
In future it would be nice if Kamep doorbell cameras supported Google Home/Alexa.
Sparse instructions in Quickstart pamphlet. First is to download Cloudedge – I accidentally downloaded P-Cloud (top of the list when you enter Cloudedge on Google Play) of course it doesn’t work, and it took me a while to realise my mistake. After that, it was quite easy, even for a non-techie like me. I’m still experimenting with Motion settings. Mine came with a 32GB SD card, which means it must have been returned by somebody else (naughty, Amazon), but it works fine and saved me 6 for a card. Its vision covers my drive and across the road with excellent picture quality in daylight. In darkness, not so good, so I’ve also installed PIR floodlights.
After researching different camera doorbell’s, I decided on the KAMEP 1080P based on comparisons with other devices and the price.
The picture quality day and night is extremely clear, I found that the night vision is particularly good, as I do not have an outside light I was amazed at how clear and sharp it is.
The doorbell is 1080P and the high-resolution image is crystal clear and of excellent quality, as is the two-way audio, it is also very simple to install, easy to use and really good value for money.
The storage options are excellent, I chose to go with the SD card as 128gb is a very good size for storage, you do have the option to go for cloud storage as well.
Overall, it’s a simple & good quality doorbell camera to setup for easy monitoring & security at a very reasonably good price compared with others
I purchased this doorbell as it seemed good value for money and had most of the features I wanted. It is not all sweetness and light but does, IMHO, represent good value for money and for this reason it gets 4 stars. to reach 5 would require at least a re-write of the CloudEdge app
I have not contacted customer service so everything I am about to tell you could have beed achieved by someone with experience of wifi devices and an ability to use poorly written ‘phone/tablet apps.
Security. The doorbell is reasonably secure from attack by vandals and is capable of sending an alarm if it is removed from the mounting hood which is screwed to the door or wall. it is secured to the hood by a “tamper proof screw” which simply needs a suitable size Torx bit to undo it. There are a few issues but none of them are much worse than most other similar items I have looked at. Having visits to the door recorded on an internal SD card is probably the most serious security issue particularly as the files are NOT encripted as expected, but more on that later.
Settimg up. This requires you to download the CloudEdge app for your device, android or IOS. In either case it is free and looks almost identical on either type of device. The app attempts to guide you through the process but I found myself going round in circles on more than one occasion. I does work but I would strongly advise you to follow the instruction about doing the initial setup with the doorbell and ‘phone/tablet close to the wifi access point. i.e. at least in the same room. Fitting the doorbell outside the house and then proceeding with setup is a recipe for failure. I did a wifi strength survey before installation and already expected that I would need a wifi repeater near to the doorbell. Anyone can do this survey using a free app which gives a graphical representation of all the wifi sources in the area showing their names (SSID) and strengths in dBm. Simply look for your SSID and check the strength at your intended installation point. Anything less than about -40dBm probably indicates you need a wifi repeater placed near the site. These are available from Amazom and others for as little as 20.
Notifications. The CloudEdge app will allow you to control how notifications are sent from the doorbell to your ‘phone/tablet. I found it best to use the default which is “when the doorbell button is pressed”. The pir sensor will almost certainly give many false triggers unless your installation site is ideal. i.e no vehicles or people passing by, no trees or bushes too wave about in the wind etc. the exact form of the notifications you receive seems to depend on your device. I have two android devices which give very different results. IOS devices may be just as variable. However they show up you evemtually land at the intercative screen in the CloudEdge app which is the same on all devices I tried. This screen is one of the best in the app and is quite intuitive to use. Through this screen you can speak to and hear the person at your door. The sound quality is quite good but don’t expect HIFI. On some devices I noticed some squeaks and pops which appear to be acoustic feedback and are related to the relative positions of the speaker and microphone on the ‘phone/tablet. An iphone seemed to have the worst performance here. A reduction in the iphone speaker volume reduced the problem to acceptable levels.
Pairimg. This operation allows you to pair (add) more devices to the doorbell all of which will receive a notification when an alarm occurs. The first device to answer will lock out all the others. Pairing is done using the CloudEdge app. Each device must create an account and sign in then pairing is possible. If you are asked to switch off or reset the doorbell during pairing then you are in the wrong place so go back and start again. There appears to be no limit to how many devices can be paired.
SD card. The doorbell can take an SD card for recording visitors to your door. This must be formatted before use and this can be done in the doorbell. Once formatted the card will make a recording of all visitors for 10, 20 or 30 seconds. You set this time in the app. This is my first real gripe, 30 seconds is too short and I think it should have a option to end when the conversation is cancelled. A 30 second video in full HD is about 3.3Mb in size so a 32GB card can store well over 20,000 files! A longer time would be better. My second gripe also concerns the SD card recording and its failure to include your end of the conversation. All you hear is the person at the door. My third gripe also comes here as it is not possible to download these video files to your device. All you can do is view them. We are usually told that this is because they are encrypted for security reasons and you can store them in the cloud (at a price!) for download in unencrypted form later. But if you remove the SD card and put it in a pc card reader then you find that they are simply mp4 video files and play fine, albeit with the sound and video out of sync and no second channel audio.
General. Here are a few more snipits of information that I found during testing.
If wifi connection is lost you will not get notified of an alarm so cannot answer the door, pretty obvious really. However the chime will still ring and the doorbell will record for the set time so you have a video record of who called when the wifi connection is restored.
The requirement to remove the doorbell to recharge the battery is a nuissance as you will be without a doorbell for several hours. It is possible to charge from usb while the doorbell still works normally. However the usb connector is on the side of the unit and removing the rubber cover and plugging in the usb plug compromises the IP65 rating. Next gripe, why is the usb connection not at the back so it can feed straight through the wall?
Conclusion. I will be keeping this product as at 55 it represents good value for money compared to some other offerings out there which do most of the same things but cost significantly more. This is a commendable attempt to produce a great video doorbell but it falls short in a few places. so it only rates as a good video doorbell. Hence it gets only four stars.
I was looking for a doorbell camera and came across this on Amazon, decided to buy as the price is very reasonable, received the product and I must say it’s excellent, very easy to pair and install and monitor via the app, 10/10 !
This door camera works like a dream , it has rechargeable internal battery which has so far lasted without charge also included a portable battery bell sounder ( as batteries included). I have installed a 128gb micro sf card which records footage on loop this can be viewed on a mobile phone via the easy to use app leaving no subscription required for data.
You honestly won’t waste your money on this product. The app is super easy to use and the doorbell is weighty (not too heavy) but you can tel it’s good quality. I had a Ring before this and refused to pay the Ring price, gambled and I’m glad I did. 100% recommend.
Submitted review below 16/09/21
well. Instructions good, easy to follow. Battery needed charging first which took a few hours. Then following instructions in the manual it connected to my BT WiFi hub immediately without fuss. Paired with chime again immediately without fuss. App downloaded after scanning image in manual. Surprisingly App downloaded and installed easily. I tested first on the table before installing outdoor and drilling holes in the wall. All worked well. Picture quality really good, better than my previous video door bell. This time the App works, I get notification almost immediately when doorbell pressed and audio/ video connection. Installation on the outside wall was easy enough, drilled 2 holes and screwed the camera housing to the wall. Then turned on the device. (Switch behind rubber grommet.) Then secured the camera into the housing with the screw provided. Then tested it to check out the camera outside. I can see who’s at the door and talk with them. I remembered not to face the camera lens into the sun as this flares out the camera image. I installed the video doorbell on the side wall facing across the door. This gives me the best image. I can see clearly who’s at the door and the sound quality is good too, it’s clear enough to have a conversation. A micro sd memory card can be installed, however the manual doesn’t refer to where and how. On close inspection, the sd card plugs in under the reset switch behind a rubber grommet on the side of the device. Power comes from an internal battery, not sure how long it lasts. Also there is a micro USB port behind a rubber grommet on the other side of the device. This allows you to charge it up or provide constant power. It would also have been useful to have a rear power connector to allow use of an existing 12 volt ac doorbell transformer, which sits behind a lot of domestic door pushes. Some other products do have this capability. However it may require an electrician to connect. Overall I am pleased that at last I have a working security video doorbell that I can access remotely in real time. This device is IP65 rated so should be moisture resistant, this is particularly important for me as I live close to the sea and salt kills anything electrical pretty quickly, doorbells and security cameras especially, as well as rusting cars. One final comment on value for money, prices have been falling over the recent years, this device is good value for money. Hopefully the device lasts many years in my harsh environment.
This Camera for the money you pay is fantastic, the HD picture quality is very good. Just add an SD card so can save all videos without subscription. I give 5* for this produc
Excellent product, easy to install, motion detection is adjustable to suit your needs, picture quality has option for HD which is crystal clear and notifications to App can be set up on multiple phones. Overall very good value for money.
Quick and easy to install. Have got it wireless which means ti needs to be charged once in a while. Battery life is good and camera quality is HD. Supports a SD up to 128GB. Comes with a battery operated chime unlike the older version came with a usb powered one, prefer the battery powered one as you can moved it around with you and is not fixed to a location.
You get a rechargeable, waterproof bell press for mounting on the door and a portable sounder, which can operate on AA batteries or a 5v input. The batteries are supplied, but you will need an SD card for recording the bell’s camera output.
The bell press can be fixed with sticky pads or screws, and it has an anti-tamper feature..
An app is downloaded, then fitting and configuration are intuitive. I had mine unpacked and installed in less than 10 minutes, although I had to be patient and wait a couple of hours for the bell press to finish charging.
The suppliers say that the unit will probably not need recharging for a month or two. This can be achieved without removing the bell press if you are able to run a 5v feed from a USB socket to it when required. Don’t, however, lose the special screwdriver for the security screw for the occasions when you do want to remove the unit.
When someone calls, the bell unit sounds and an alert is sent to any mobile phones that you have registered on the app. This enables you to interact with the caller from anywhere that in the world where you have an internet connection.
At night, the camera switches to infra-red, so it will can carry on recording when triggered.
The motion detection feature, which can be switched off or limited to certain hours, impressively discriminates between humanoid and pet prowlers.
Inevitably, there has to be a minor niggle. The sounder offers a choice of two jaunty versions of classical tunes or either of two “bells”. We couldn’t live with a regular 20 seconds of Beethoven’s-9th-Goes-Techno-Pop, but the much-preferable “ding-dongs” sound only twice — not always enough to always gain attention against the normal domestic buzz.
Nevertheless, this is an excellent package at a very attractive price, which I can recommend unreservedly.
Great doorbell!
Very nice sleek looking, doesn’t look like a cheap toy. Very fast response times- I’ve attached a video so you can see how quickly you get a notification and can see the live stream of the doorbell.
Comes with all the battery’s so it’s fast and easy to set up and you can either screw it or adhesive it to your door/ wall.
The quality of the picture is really good and you can either set “SD” or “HD” so that helps with SD card space and latency when loading the live feed. Only thing I’d change is the chime isn’t the loudest (still good- just not the loudest) , but you could always buy extra chimes and pair it up with the doorbell. The app is even very easy to use.
Over all this is a great doorbell and 100% worth it!
Impressed with this so far, unboxing experience is quality and manual is written in good English. As shown in the photos the external doorbell has rubber bungs over the ports and buttons to make it nice and waterproof. The rechargeable battery in the doorbell is a good size (18.5Wh) so shouldn’t need charging often, the internal chime uses 3x AAs which are also included. All the tools you need including a torx driver are in the box, so nothing else needed to get this up and running except a micro SD card, I’d reccommend a 128gb card for this as HD video can take up a lot of space.
I have been looking for a hd video doorbell and found this on Amazon at the right time. Picture quality , recorded image, motion detection ,sound every thing so perfect. I have already recommended to family and friends. Great device for this price.
Have had this doorbell for a week and can say I am very impressed. Reaction to movement is very good. And time between detection, or someone pressing the button & notification on my phone is excellent. With a previous video doorbell there was a delay of at least 4 or 5 seconds. One feature I like is that you can set times when motion detection is active. Great for cutting the number of unnecessary notifications from people walking past your gate. Audio quality is not the best. But with only myself to test it, I couldn’t get too close with the phone in my hand without getting feedback. One thing I would say to manufacturers/suppliers. Please put a bell symbol on the button. People don’t seem to realise this is a doorbell. I also had this problem with my previous video doorbell where visitors continued to knock the door or the letterbox.
If you’re not bothered about Alexa integration. Then this is a great little item.
I can’t help wondering how long before face recognition is included so that family coming home from work/school don’t trigger alerts
UPDATE 10/09/2021
After permanently fitting the doorbell to the door I decided to activate the tamper alarm. I had to deactivate it again. The issue is that motion detection triggers the tamper alarm siren. Not a big problem as the unit is a tight fit in its housing. And there is a screw which holds it in place. Even so, it’s something that’s not working as it should.
UPDATE 21/09/2021
Received a replacement and the tamper alarm is working as it should (though the wording in app when it is triggered is amusing “Someone demolish”). So as I said, this doorbell is very good value for money.
Absolutely love this doorbell camera.
Setup was so easy, I expected to spend a while deciphering instructions but it literally took less than 10 minutes to install.
Picture quality is really good, the camera has human detection so it only alerts you when it needs to. It’s so convenient to know when you’ve had a delivery etc the response time when someone rings the bell and I’m not home is really good, I’ve not missed a caller yet.
I’ve had it just over a week so far and the battery is still almost fully charged, considering I’ve been using it a lot for testing (new toy) I think it will last long time between recharge.
I have set mine up using an Sd card and it records and plays back any alerts I may have missed, I also took advantage of the trial of the cloud service which was also excellent (I was awaiting delivery of an sd card)
All in all I think this camera is an excellent addition to my home monitoring and compares very favourably to the more expensive models out there.
I bought this on the recommendation of a friend who had previously used the Ring doorbell, but said this was actually much better for a lot less money. It works perfectly and does everything you would expect it to, sound and image quality are excellent. Don’t forget to order a decent size SD card to make the most of the recording capabilities.
I had a previous version of this bell and I have to add that this version completely outperforms the previous version. The doorbell loads up extremely quickly. Video quality is extremely clear and the night vision works perfectly. I believe you can use the cloud storage option or the micro SD to store data as well.
I’m trying to figure out how I can get the notifications to appear more frequently but I’m sure that’s just something I need to sort out in the app.
Overall really happy with the device so far as it’s ticked all the right boxes.
This is a brilliant little doorbell camera, very quick and easy to set up, instructions are simple and straight forward. When the door bell is pressed your phone receives what seems like someone is calling you. Green for answer and Red for ending the call just like a normal phone call, absolutely love this!!! The software is full of options so you are fully aware of anyone who visits you, I would highly recommend this product.
Bought this as a replacement for the existing model as it is more compact and offers better features. On the main unit, the charging port is more accessible, and the unit detaches easily from its holder for doing this. It is held in place with a tamper proof screw (removal tool supplied), and has a tamper alert feature. The ringer is also more compact than the predecessor, and has the benefit that it can be powered from batteries or USB (cable supplied), so again offering more flexibility. Although not yet installed, have tested the camera and the image quality is excellent. Very happy with this purchase
This is a really decent video doorbell for the price; I was amazed at how clear the images are, and the almost instant notification when either motion is detected, or when the door bell is rang; we can set up either of these responses, once we download the app.
So what we get is a camera/video doorbell which fits onto the outside of the front door; screws, screwdriver and rawl plugs for fitting are provided, so just need to drill the holes. The unit needs to be charged before installing, which took, maybe an hour; we’ve only had to do it the once so far, but the camera is easily removed from the fitting for this purpose. Then we have the speaker, battery powered, again batteries provided, which can be put, and moved to anywhere in the house. The chime can be set to different volumes and melodies to suit; so to be honest I can hear it upstairs even when it is on the ground floor; but it is worth having a play around with it.
Now we have to set it up on our devices; we have installed the ‘CloudEdge’ app on both our phones and a tablet. This was easy enough to do on all the devices; and this is where we can see and apply the settings; we set it up on the motion setting, but if you have a lot of visitors maybe just the press chime setting.
Now not only can we see when someone approaches the house, up the garden path; we also can speak to them, as well; very handy for a parcel delivery, asking them to leave the parcel in a safe place for instance. These notifications come through to our phones even when we are away from the house; we have seen the delivery drivers jump in shock when a voice comes through!!
So yes, it took a couple of hours to charge the camera, fit it and install and adjust the settings on the app, but it was all very straight forward; the easy to follow instructions included are excellent.
We are told that we can record visits to the door by either using a Cloud storage, not something we’ve got, or an SD card, which would be a way to keep the house secure maybe, if we were away on holiday; something we may consider in the future.
Very pleased with this device, easy to set up and use.
I was given my first video doorbell as a gift on Fathers’ Day in 2019, and was always somewhat dissatisfied with it. The main problem was that it was slow to respond, and by the time an image had loaded up on the app, it was usually the back of someone walking away from the front door. Two years on, I thought it was time to upgrade, and I am happy I have done so. This product is very competitively priced (in fact it is cheaper than the model it is replacing) and seems to have all the right features, which include a better form factor, a higher quality image, a chime that works on rechargeable batteries and therefore does not need mains power, and an ability to record onto a micro SD card (not included) or onto a cloud service which requires a subscription. The product was very well packaged and with the included instructions being clear and coherent, it is relatively easy to set up. You have to charge the main unit, download the CloudEdge app, connect the device to it and your Wi-fi network, and then install the device in a suitable location outside the front door. The chime gives you a choice of sounds as well as relatively low and high volume. You can use the app to look out through the camera (it gives you a wide angle view, but it is very clear and has good low light capability), use the intercom for a 2-way conversation at the front door, and record. You can choose the app to notify you once the camera detects motion. Alternatively, the app is triggered when someone presses the button on the doorbell. The system response time is very good (2-3 seconds) compared to the previous model (7-8 seconds) but this may also be affected by the quality of your Wi-fi network. The app can also be shared with other users, but this is something I have not yet done. Overall, a very positive experience!
Nice, compact video door bell! easy to install, Very good picture quality even in complete darkness.
The system is very quick to respond to a bell push and you can view the camera at anytime by going to the app. One thing i found by accident was while viewing the camera on your phone you can zoom in on the picture! unsure of battery life but make sure you disable the anti tamper before removing it from it’s bracket!
Battery lasts well . No unnecessary alerts.
Good picture and nice loud chime.
Great picture, motion detection and night vision. The only thing I’m not happy with is that, the battery last one month not longer.
Great camera, motion dector pick up from end of my path, so great.
All round good little camera, just as good as the leading brand.
I think this was one of my best buys love my doorbell very good
Product build is great and image was high quality. App is also very clear and easy to use. Set up was quick and simply.
Ordered as my previous doorbell finally died.
Would recommend
Good quality, detection great but maybe a little too sensitive. Picks up lorries passing house
Great camera good price long battery life easy to operate and install
The doorbell is good, very loud and good reception. The resolution of the video is also adequate. Took two weeks to share. Good things are worth buying.
only got this for the camera side really after someone tryed nikking a bike
pic is just as good at night as it is in the day
lets me know as soon as someone comes in the garden
thinking of another just for the back garde
Works well , nice and quick.
Not noticed any lag in connection and best I know I’ve not missed a calle
This doorbell is excellent for the money! It’s so good I have purchased again for my daughter’s new house.
The doorbell comes with a memory card so you don’t have to worry about subscriptions for the video’s it takes.
The video quality is really good and the doorbell has an anti tamper alarm built in.
Just buy it, you will not be disappointed.
Seems OK so far, just took a while to learn how to work it. It could have done with a mount for the “bell”.
The motion is intense it goes off even if someone is walking on the street. The battery doesn’t last long but the overall quality is ok. 7/10
Great piece of kit and works perfectly.
Highly recommend at a fraction of price of some better known brands.
Easy to setup and we’ll worth the price – Definitely recommend 🙂
likes : easy setup, wireless chime, excellent camera quality, cost..
Dislikes : need to charge it approx once a month
Cheers
Highly recommend
Really pleased with picture & video quality, and it’s got more functions than I realised, really easy to set up, and for the price, I’ll buy it agai
A great camera doorbell. Easy to set up, app is easy to use and video quality is great.
Movement sensor sensitivity is adjustable too. Picture and sound at both ends is clear.
This is a brilliant doorbell for the price paid and just as good as Ring and less than half the price, the only one on Amazon rated 5*. Excellent.
This is a great product. Ooozes quality right out of the box and easy to connect.
Only slight issue is the app only allows one phone connected at a time, which is a shame but hopefully can be fixed with an update.
I recommend this great product from a great seller.
Nothing to complain very clear loud easy install and the indoor bell added bonus better than my old one .no lagging 5stars xxxxx
a very clear and and bell very loud 5 stars
A very well-produced and well-presented package.
