To soon to fully rate its effectiveness but already the signs are promising this is our second purchase of this item and the first pack has definitely worked to get rid of the damp that was on our bay window wall. This pack was used in our utility area we used a dehumidifier to first get rid of most of the moisture and then treated the mortar the same as we did before so far the damp has not returned so it’s looking good I would recommend this product but make sure you follow the instructions with regard to drill bit size and hole depth. You can buy it as a kit but as my husband is a very competent diy’er and he has a multitude of tools suitable to use.

Appears to have resolved a rising damp issue in days.
    Easy to use.
Just make sure the drilled holes are well cleared and adaquate to take the dry rod sticks.
If you are installing in 9 inch brickwork make sure you have a drill stop or depth indicator to stop over drilling.
Would i use this product again ? Absolutly already have other areas to install.

My back garden wall has always been damp. After a bit of research, I came across these Dryrod damp-proofing rods so I decided to give them a go.

After watching a youtube video on how to install these, have drilled in the rods into my wall. I’m told you need to wait a few months to see results so will wait and see if they worked or not. I figure for the price it’s worth it.

If you do decide to buy these, make sure you have a powerful drill and also the right drill bit so the rods can slot into the holes you make.

Having purchased a property without a damp course rising damp started to appear. Installing the rods took less than an hour and worked instantly. Very very happy.

Used some of these last year for an old damp wall. The wall is now bone dry from the dryrods course up. Absolute doddle to fit, brilliant, now doing the rest of the house.

I am really giving this a five star review because I trust the marketing. this is the kind of thing that can take a long time to see results, but the product is guaranteed, I think, for 10 years. half our garage and basement are built into the ground (like many basements). the side next to the soil (cinderblock) recently started showing signs of dampness. Maybe it had been there for a while, not sure. However, I saw some mildew and (uh oh) MAYBE some mold, not even sure. But, I added an industrial strength air cleaner with UV light and a very very strong dehumidifier. I also found an incredible mold and mildew removal product that I hadn’t used before ( see here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071V6RLWT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
And, I was able to get rid of all VISIBLE signs of mildew and mold. Just gone– that product is absolutely the best mold and mildew removal product I’ve ever used (I haven’t used MANY, but that works quickly). However, it’s cinderblock and who knows what’s inside the hollow area? I don’t. My mission is to keep this area dry and clean now. So, I found this product and it promises to fix the problem that I was exactly concerned about.

I did drill holes evenly spaced as instructed, and popped these babies in.

I’m still reluctant to stop using the dehumidifier (that fills up in 24 hours), but I’m feeling really good about this product working in the cinderblock hollows. The product, combined with the dehumidifier and air cleaner should really keep the moisture at bay.

This is a revised review, had someone check with a damp meter, I am amazed at how quick these have worked on my interior walls, they were installed on 30/5/2021, they are very much value for money, if I could give a 10 i would, if your thinking about buying these rods, dont waste time just do it, they have worked on my house, built in the late 1800, one word, “amazing”,Delivery was quick, I have only just used some of these rods, so its s wait and see if they work, after reading other people reviews, I am optimistic that they will work for me on my house fingers crossed.

These things work. They do just what they say on the box, we could see a difference in the colour of the brick work in only a couple of days. The photos show what we were up against.

    A great product.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersUsed these to treat a rising damp issue. Pretty quick to install. Need a 12mm masonry drill bit to drill the hole in the masonry layer, then use the dryrod hole clearing tool which gets out loads of debris and then slot the rod into place. Easy fit with the 12mm hole, just need to check with drill bit or hole clearing tool that all debris is out at the back as the debris, if crumbly, can block the back of the hole making it impossible to put the rod in all the way. Then just put some mortar over the hole and job done. Best to use gloves as the rods are a little moist, and the instructions do recommend this based on possible irritation from the ingredients. I bought the cutting tool too, which cuts the rods easy, maybe a sharp stanley knife would also do this but the cutter works a treat. Now it is a case of waiting for the chemicals to penetrate the mortar layer but am hopeful from all the online reviews and users that it will do the job once the rods are activated. Really simple job and really pleased. Would buy and use again.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSimple to install, just drill a 12mm hole at regular intervals (120mm) and insert the rod. I’m tackling the inner leaf of of a cavity wall and the rods can esily be cut in half to suit with a stanley knife.
Time will tell how effective the product is in the long term but in my case the known damp areas are evidently drying out quickly. To begin with the walls could be seen to sweat out moisture and after perhaps a week become noticably drier… I have high hopes that along with clearing debris from the cavities this product will perform well into the future. I’ve only granted a three star rating for value for money as the future hasn’t arrived here yet!

Did our homework, this is one of the few BBA approved damp treatments. And oh so easy to apply, just need a 12mm drill bit long enough to go all the way through the mortar line (9″ long in most cases)

This stuff is amazing. I had rising dampness in various areas of the flat, one area was treated by a specialist contractor which I had done so I could get a mortgage. It cost 4000. Then there was another area which wasn’t noted on the valuation report, so I decided to spend 100 on this stuff and install it myself. 6 month later and the dampness is gone. When I asked the dampness contractors about this stuff, they claimed they has never heard of it.. They also recommended not using it. You will save yourself a lot of money and hassle with this dryrod treatment, I really recommend it!

My initial internal damp proofing failed (installed 18yrs ago). these have resolved the problem for 99% of the wall. 1 area still damp (a 5 cm strip in a room corner), but it may not be the products fault as I have waterproof concrete to 1 meter high on most of the walls which may still be drying out after 5 months. You may need to strip old plaster off the walls

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersNever attempted a damp-course before, but after a bit of searching online I decided on this method. – I chose right – If you can use an electric drill you can easily do this damp-course treatment yourself, — Only recently completed so time will tell how good the treatment is, but other people have given very good reports on this system.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersThis is a great product and worth spending the extra penny’s in comparison to injecting liquid. When installed it creates a good rising damp barrier. I’ve successfully used on the full ground floor of a 1905 terrace. It’s also been placed in my mother in laws wall where her chimney breast had been taken out a few years ago and damp patches started to apear. The hardest part of installation is in the drilling, you need to find a continuous strip of cement mortar for this product to work and then drill 190mm deep at 125mm centres, that’s a lot of holes! Use an SDS drill with a good drill bit. Once installed the product takes a couple of weeks for the chemical to set into your mortar, creating the rising damp barrier. Dry walls out with a dehumidifier. One your moisture meter readings comes down to reasonable levels you’re good to paint over. I’d use this product again. Tech support available and was very helpful when contacting.
