I bought a BT-4XS last November and one of Probe Sockets stopped working after 8 months. Yesterday the replacement arrived less than a week after I first contacted them. Very fast email responses, no messing around and a sensible priced accurate thermometer.
Title says it all. I would definitely recommend. Especially for low n slow bbq/smoking. Takes all the guesswork out. Also used in the oven to roast chicke
If only it was WiFi, not just Bluetooth. Then I could monitor my food from the pub instead of having to stay at home. Apart from that, it’s a great piece of kit and I love the idea of being able to monitor the cooking environment, be it a BBQ or oven as well as the temperature of whatever I’m cooking.
For:
Multiple probes
Good temperature accuracy
Long, well-shielded cables
Against:
Nothing really, although Wifi would be nice.
Temperatures are accurate, four sensors is great for multiple types of meet and grill temperature. The only downside is that it seems to need recharging quite a lot and it relies on Bluetooth for app connectivity so it loses connection when you’re upstairs and on the opposite side of the house from the garden. Good for the price though.
Brilliant for using on my Weber BBQ – tested on an 8 hour cook of pork loin and it came out perfect. Only gripe is they lose connection to the phone around my house but other than that, first rate.
Great piece of kit. Allows me to get on with my day while smoking. Setting temperature ranges for the ambient temperature and also 3 pieces of meat on the smoker. Definitely take the stress away of constantly checking the WSM dial ambient temperature. App seems to work fine with no issues or drop outs unless i’m too far out of range but the unit itself will sound an alarm also.
Great piece of kit so far.
A great little piece of kit that’s saved my culinary life on multiple occasions when braaing (I’m married to a South African, I get hit by lightning if I say “BBQ” or use anything other than charcoal).
Really easy to use, with 3 internal probes and one ambient temp probe. The app is intuitive, providing real time updates from all active probes to your phone via Bluetooth. You can easily and quickly set timers and alarms (both min and max temps) for all active probes, and there are handy template alarms available that have preset temps and temp ranges for things like pulled pork or beef brisket.
As you can’t fully rely on the built-in grill thermometer for anything requiring time, it’s absolutely critical you have a way of reliably measuring and alerting on both meat and grill temperatures – and this gizmo does this perfectly at a fraction of the price of many other remote thermometer options.

Works well out of the box, but the presets wouldn’t quite match up with what I would normally go for, and it’s sometimes difficult to find the optimum placement for the probe, but with a bit of practice, it works great!
Lets you keep track of the temp at the cooking level rather than depending on the lid thermometer which is usually a lot higher. 4 probes let you easily keep tabs on multiple items. Phone can stay connected for about 40 metres unobstructed and roughly 15 if I am indoors.
It makes a massive difference when you get the meat just at the right temperature rather than overdoing it.
It’s so good that I have even used it to test the temperature of the water in the dishwasher when it wasn’t working as I thought it should. Also used it for the oven and again the meat is much more succulent when you just cook it to the right temperature. Really recommend this
Excellent piece of kit. Super easy to use and set up. Seems to be very accurate against an instant read and the 4 probes are brilliant to have. Battery life is brilliant and the app works seemlessly
I used a meat thermometer when I cook a very expensive beef rib joint. Tomahawk steaks are cooked to perfection and it takes the stress and worry out of cooking expensive joints.
It’ll be handy when the hubby cooks on the bbq ( only time he cooks all year) so he’s less likely to give us all food poisoning…
A friend hand one so I had to buy one myself. Works a treat and love that it is rechargeable.
Cooked the best steak I have ever managed on the BBQ with this – magic.
Good product, instructions are written in pretty broken English but understandable.
Use this mainly for oven cooking. Great results cooking whole chicken, pork and beef joints as I used to frequently over cook these but not now.

Good thermometer. Big bonus are the 3 meat probes added to the bundle. It will definitely improve any of your cooks or bakes.
Love the clear display, app and that it’s magnetic! But 2 of the 3 food probes are faulty now, one not working at all, the other out by 7 degrees

It works really well on the barbecued meat.
