This amp combined with the 6007 CD player gives great clarity and warmth. Love it.
This amplifier sounds nearly as good as my Cyrus setup, great phono input, got it to use with my Marantz cd player and Linn Axis turntable, very happy with my purchase.
To be fair I was replacing an Musical Fidelity X-A2 my mistake.
My old 20 year old Marantz had been retired so I was on the hunt for a new one. I came across this PM6007 and was intrigued by the reviews. Once it arrived I wired up my CD player, Turntable (via Cambridge Audio Phono Stage) and switched it on. After a few days I tested the amp and was pleasantly surprised in the warmth in the sound it gave. My Mission speakers are around 20 years old too and the amp had given them a new lease of life. I played my vinyl version of The Dark Side of the Moon and was blown away by the clarity of the music, also with CD the quality was amazing. I added a Bluetooth Receiver to the Amp for convenience when I want to play a song from my phone (Bit Rate 320kbps) and this sounds great too.
If you are looking for a new amp make sure you check this Marantz PM6007 out, you won’t regret it.
By the way I didn’t hear any humming or unwanted sounds. I did replace all my interconnects last year and also replaced my stylus on my ProJect Carbon turntable.
A big improvement on my old NAD amp.
The remote is fully compatible with my Marantz CD player which is very useful.
It’s now connected to my CD player, Epson projector, and iPod.
Very pleased.
Apart from the almost resolutely analog stance – ok, there are digital inputs but there’s no Bluetooth – the Marantz is a powerful amp if you have modest, living room ambitions
This amp was bought to replace a Marantz PM30 which we’d had for more than 30 years. They are high quality amps that last well, and although we were happy with the PM30, the PM6007 sounds much better.
Ordered and came next day. So far sounds great – this was to replace a 30-year old amp which had finally gone bang.
Technology clearly advanced in the mean-time, even some 40-year old vinyl sounds good with lack of ‘hiss’.
Was dubious about yet another remote control, but it has won me over.
The sound quality treble and base is nice and crisp with a good bass paired to a pair of Monitor audio bronze 2 speakers.
I allso must point out that the supplier has full marks for the quality of delivery
The sound quality through the speakers and headphone jack is superb. Separation, definition and rendition of the instruments is first class. Live albums sound as if you are on stage with them. My albums and cd’s have taken on a new life.
I’ve had two marantz pm6007 both with an issue that is I’m getting static shocks from the metal front plate, as any one else experienced this
A very well made quality piece of kit.
lovely amp the sound from it very good nice listing to classical and pop just the right sound not overpowering very happy with the amp goes with the 6007 cd player and the 6006 network playe
Deciding to move on from old but trusty Arcam Diva 75+, I was rather concerned that despite being a model made 20 years later it might have ended up as more of a sideways step rather than a big improvement
I needn’t have worried as this amp has indeed blown the old Arcam out of the water.
So here are my thoughts :
Soundstage is really rather good, streaming FLAC to my Cambridge CXN with a Chord C coaxial cable to connect to the PM60007 sounds amazing, separation and space brilliant, clear but not harsh highs, punchy precise bass, with a very quick sound pattern.
Streaming the lower rate Spotify sounds much better too.
My old NAD C521i CD player and Nakamichi BX150 E tape deck are now sounding like totally different machines now, once again separation, soundstage, clear definition, punchy energetic sound.
The phono stage is surprisingly good also as prior to this I was running a Project TubeBox S2 phono preamp on my old amp, and now I feel like I could get away without it ( although I’m still going to use it via the Tuner input )
All in all if you like a clear, warm, spacey, not confused sound then I would say you can’t go wrong with this amplifier.
The only downside at the moment that I can see, and it’s just a little niggle, and that would have been to let me switch the phono input to an inline input as for me to use the phono preamp I have to put it through the tuner selection.

The amp doesn’t have a radio tuner, but if you use the Bluetooth setup as stated above you can use BBC sounds app on your phone. It delivers excellent radio sound quality. When using the phone for music or radio you need to have phone volume power very low and rely on amp volume to get required level. That avoids any distortion.
