We like the double flaps with the additional middle flap. Helped keep the cold air to an acceptable minimum. Used it on an external door leading to an enclosed patio.

A real asset for our patio. Probably more than we need, but we used this unit in a previous cold weather home and it is excellent weatherwise and tough for hard charging dogs. As a patio entry we could have used a much less expensive door, but we consider this lifetime. Not easy to install in a patio setup without traditional doors. You have to improvise.

I has originally bought the plastic non storm version, but found it would blow open during wind and rain. I bought this version and the aluminum framed one and it is such better quality and now with the three flaps no wind or rain get thru and the area is no longer as hot! I would recommend this one over any other!

After reading reviews, I was expecting to be not 100% satisfied.
It seems like the doors have been improved, biased on reviews. I received plastic, AND metal screws. The door flap holder thing is metal also, others complained about it being plastic. The flaps do not leave gaps around the edges i’m really happy with it.

he screes they provide not really long enough to go through the door and screw on the other together . I wound up having a screw them directly into a solid core door with smaller screws because I didn’t have the longer screws. i do love the triple flaps, the middle one is not see through, and since the doggie door is in a bathroom it feels more private. but one of my dogs won’t go through it because she can’t see out it.

I have been replacing the single flap on my prior doggy door every four years. We started getting some rain coming in when a large storm came through town. This time I took the chance to replace same brand door with the more weather resistant version and so far so good.
I will say that it should’ve been a ten minute job if the original installer had lined up the holes well enough to use the included metal screws. One of the nylon screws stripped and the holes needed adjusting for me to use the new metal screws. But it’s done and I’m pleased.

This door has a metal frame, sturdy and square. It spans a 2″ thick door, and of yours is a bit thicker, you can bridge the gap with white duct tape.

Three flaps do a great job of keeping heat from leaking on or out, and wind drafts. This is the most energy efficient door I’ve installed (out of six, over the years). Two outer doors are tough plastic that pets won’t destroy easily. One inner flap is softer and thicker, for insulation and to let the outer flaps move easily. The outer flaps protect the inner flap from damage. Very good design.

The inner and outer metal frames fit together perfectly. Ideal is still experimenting with end nuts for the long bolts that hold them together – no door maker has quite got that right yet, it seems. See pro tips below to make installation easier.

    Pro tips:

    – Use a circular saw (e.g. SkilSaw) to cut the opening. It’s easier to cut straight, square, and clean, than with a jigsaw – especially if you have a metal door. And you don’t have to drill those 1/2″ corner holes.

    – It’s ok if you saw past your marked corners about half an inch – the frame will cover that up.

    – Screw one frame into your door temporarily with self-tapping screws. Remove it, and screw in the other frame. Remove both.

    – Use those screw holes as guides for the 1/4″ drill. Then your bolts should go through nice and straight to join the two frames (in a couple of minutes).

    – Get all 4 bolts through one frame clear to the back side first. Then ease the back frame on.

    – Start each end nut by hand before you do any serious tightening. Two people are really helpful at this point – one on each side of the door.

    – Tighten all 4 bolts part way with screwdriver and wrench first. Then tighten them all down the rest of the way.

    – Good job – you’re done! Seal the edges if you want.

The door is good it keeps the cold air out and I love that the door locks shut. Only with it would’ve came with inner border like my other doggy door I got from pet smart.

This is a great addition to my home.
It took a few days for them to get how to use it but we haven’t looked back since. We’re have 1 10yr old dog and two pups. I was worried the older dog wouldn’t take to it. The freedom it’s given is fantastic. I’m not running home to check on them and leave them out. No more accidents in the house either.
(The video attached was day one with the flap, I put them out and used treats as an incentive to coax them through it)

I highly recommend this flap as I live in Ireland and the weather is pretty miserable (cold and wet) I was worried we’d loose heat through it. To be honest I haven’t noticed a difference so the extreme weather version is definitely the way to go.

Husband found it very easy to install. He removed the door and placed it on a table. The template made it easy for him to outline and cut the hole. Everything went together fine and our dog (and us) enjoys the freedom to come and go. We installed it on the door leading to the garage so that we can close the garage door at night and not worry about some other ‘critter’ visiting….

Got my Pet Safe Dog Door on March 2nd. Was missing screws for the four bolts, so I went to hardware store and got what I need to complete the installation. The most difficult part was cutting the hole in an Aluminum Door. The two pieces that make up the inside and outside of the door fit nicely. Bolted the two halves of the door together and was finished. Total time to install, including cutting the hole in door, was about 2 hours. The template for cutting the hole in the door was spot on. Will leave a follow up after my dog gets comfortable with using her Dor Door. Also, I got the Aluminum Dog Door. Wanted something that will last. Will let y’all know.

The dogs use it all the time to go in and out but unlike the previous dog flap we had this one seals much better which stops a major draught in colder and windier weather.

This was too deep for our door so it sits out a bit. Our fitter put a wooden frame around it to make it look better.
It’s taking a while for my dog to get used to it. We’re putting treats at it to encourage her!
It certainly will make life easier for us as she knows how to open doors but not how to close them!!

    Seems good quality,

Have left external flap off until cat and dog are used to going through with one.

Cat is not too sure of it at them moment, hopefully it works it out with only one flap installed for a few weeks. Will probably move the one flap to the outside for weatherproofing.

Sprayed with anthracite, as the brush strips are installed before the frame is assembled, you need to notch to top to slide them out.

Seems good quality - sprayed external panel to match anthracite doo

We were reluctant to install a flap big enough for our 30kg Golden Retriever on security grounds. However she was joined by a GR puppy in mid-Feb the pros and cons of the door being opened & shut multiple times persuaded us to try it. Despite our young grandchildren proving they could climb through we do not regret installing the flap which both dogs mastered in about 20 mins. We slide in the ‘lock’ at night or if we are all out, plus our back door is not visible to passers by as is behind a high locked gate. We have not had ‘draft’ issues, however the door is sheltered from high winds. The dogs love the freedom, thankfully they have stopped trying to go through at the same time!

Bought the medium size for small 7kg dog, it was about right. It does seem well insulated with an inner and outer flap and insulated flap in the middle. The magnets at the bottom of the flaps seem to hold the flaps enough to stop any draughts but nothing at the sides except draught excluder, dog was using straight away.
    would recommend.

Just keep the sides of the flap sides clear of fur. Just a wipe over each day for example in windy weather. If you have dogs that are malting, and their fur sticks to the sides of the dog flap opening, the flap won’t magnetically seal as tight. BRILLIANT though. FAR BETTER than the companies normal single flap option which we’ve had previously. We have six dogs, it gets some use.

Superb design. This was fitted into my south-facing upvc porch door (into a pvc panel – not in the glazing). My Lhasa apso dog learnt how to work the flap within days. I did as other reviewers suggested and taped up the flaps so she learnt to hop in and out through the hole, then the next day just left the central insulated flap down. The third day I dropped one of the magnetic flaps. And the fourth day she could easily push through the full door. She has lots of dog friends who visit. I was amused to see her best mate, a Border Collie/ Labrador cross, easily use the flap too (with zero training just following my dog). We’ve recently had a very strong storm with 80 mph winds. The flap has not flapped about under any weather. It has not let rain in. It does let a small draught through – but I don’t mind that at all. Really great purchase.

Was easily installed in the same door where my dogs killed the last dog flap, seems to keep out the elements and cold air but let the dogs have free access. As the puppy is only a third of the weight of the bigger dogs he literally charges or launches himself at the dog flap.
Will have to see if it lasts longer than the original which was designed for upto 20kg dogs, mine are 3 times that so in fairness no surprise that it only lasted a month.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI now have a warm house, my previous dog flap/pet door use to blow open with even a gentle breeze, and so my kitchen was always freezing cold in the winter. This door however managed to stay shut even when we had very strong winds that were blowing plant pots around, even strong enough to move my greenhouse that is weighted but not screwed down. And yet, through all this the pet door stayed closed – brilliant. I have large dogs and they are able to push the flaps open easily enough when they wish to use it and the door also has a clip on cover too which my old one didn’t for when you wish to close it off and stop the dogs going out (not that I ever do) but I least I have that as I viable and aesthetic option.

All in all a fab product, relatively easy to fit and does exactly what it claims to do.

Would fit literally any dog, its huge, be sure to measure your door tho, I purchased this for my sisters house and it didn’t fit the back door so I took it back to mine and it fit my back door perfectly, we both have rottweilers and could have done with a smaller size, not complaining just for an idea for people

First I needed to make the existing hole in our door smaller. The hole template was invaluable at this stage.The-new door was easy to fit. What took the time was fitting decorative mouldings to hide the infills.
Our dog soon mastered the task of getting out of the door, but barked to come back in especially in the early hours of the morning. We put a night light in our utility room, which seems to have solved the problem!
We are confident that our new door will not blow open as readily as the previous one did.

Should come with 2 covers for when you want to restrict access! Dog only knows it’s out of action from one side! (Bought anther from pet safe USA site!) flaps are sturdy, my 7kg puppy has no problem getting through.

Excellent product. Much better than the one with a single flap. The corridor where my dogs flap is was cold but it’s now really snug and warm. Took dogs a while to get used to it. Cat had no problem though

Bought this to replace an existing dog flap of the same make as needed additional insulation from the weather. Installation was a bit tricky even with two people you need about six hands each to hold it all in place whilst you tighten all the fixings. However, once installed and the flaps adjusted slightly it does a great job keeping the weatherout, even the cat can still easily use it.
