They have great sound quality, and they are the most comfortable wireless ear buds that I have used. The ANC is better than my Sony wireless ear buds.

Probably not the best Bluetooth connection as well as microphone quality (compared to AirPods Pro), but sound quality is incomparably better! Highly recommended for audiophiles!

Don’t get me wrong they’re great headphones. But I’m sort of a B&W fanboy. I have several of their products and have expectations on what their products should sound like. To be fair, they’re ear buds, it’s probably hard to pack all that into an in ear wireless bud. But my expectation of B&W is if it can’t be done perfectly don’t do it at all. I’m disappointed and don’t feel they’re worth $400, I could see $250. The retransmission feature is incredible tho, bravo to B&W for this tech.

I highly enjoyed the sound of these. I will admit the Bose has better sound cancellation, but these work amazing, too. The quality of sound was better, but don’t let other reviewers fool you. They might be listening to bad audio videos on YouTube. When I tried it with my receiver with a record player or even some files on iTunes, it sounds great. The sound was evenly produced with a great mix of high, mid and the low end. Some songs on YouTube sound good but most sound terrible and I bet that’s why people give it a bad review but we all should know the reasoning for that if you’re into audio. Highly recommended if you’re use to Bose earbuds or any others in that price range and wanted a new pair after giving those away.

Excellent pair of in ear headphones. Great sound quality. Volume could go a little higher. iPhone connection takes a minute to learn, but it’s not that difficult to master. Had a pair of high end Bose previously and these are as good if not better.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am not audiophile. I bought PI7 based on my daughter recommendation. To me, PI7 sound quality is awesome. Very pleasing to the ears. Separation is excellent. I can hear all layers of instrument and chorus like I have never heard before. I am falling in love with listening to music all over again. I find Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro’s tremble is a little too bright. PI7 tremble is perfect. Connection is weaker than Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro. Connection distance is much shorter about 10 feet. ANC works pretty well in office environment. Voice in phone call and pass thru are natural and clear. B&W Application has minimal functionalities. That’s the way I like it. I use Wavelet to modify the sound for listening to different genres of music. I would like B&W Application to have the equalizer built-in. It comes with 3 sizes of silicon ear tips. Small, medium and large. My right ear falls between medium and large. I bought Spinfit ear tip for that. L3P comes with 4 sizes of ear tip and fits me right. Battery last about 4 hours with ANC and music on. Other complains about it. For me, my ears get tired long before that. It does not matter. The earbuds design looks awesome and materials feel premium. It is a little big. It look slightly awkward in ear. But it is actually quite comfortable. But L3P is more comfortable. Last but not least, I love the the charging case transmitter feature. That allows me to use older equipment that does not support Bluetooth. All ear buds should come with the feature.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersIch habe mir diese Kopfhrer hier ausgesucht und wurde erst durch die vielen negativen Bewertungen skeptisch. Keine Verbindung mglich, reichweite ungengend etc.

They sound fantastic. The features are fun. It’s nice to know I can plug my headphone case in anywhere if I want to use my buds. This comes in handy in situations like foreign museum tours, airplane arm rests, listening to your one friend with a bunch of ipods ipod. Wireless use of that old discman or walkman. Computers without bluetooth. It solves a question few ask or care about, but I see how it could come in handy that one time you remember to bring the headphone jack to USB C cable to plug it in.

The bluetooth cuts in and out, and sometimes doesn’t pair. But then it doesn’t have that problem for a while and you forget it even happens. Good value at a sale price. At full MSRP I would pass.

    – Fantastic sound: Big and large sound with deep and powerful bass. Worth the price!
    – Uneven battery life: The earbud that is remove first from the charge case becomes the “master”, the other one is considered the “slave” earbud. The “master” earbud battery life will drain faster (15-20%). Resetting the earbuds is usually solving somehow the issue but that’s a bit disappointing.
    – Noise cancellation: Good quality and adjustable from the app. Not the best but decent enough.
    – Bowers & Wilkins smartphone app: Helpful to switch the source and adjust the noise cancellation. Not as snappy as any Apple apps for sure but decent.
    – Earbuds: Very comfortable. Stay in place.
    – Charge case: Bigger than the competition. Very strong magnets are keeping the earbuds secured inside. I wish there was options to purchase a silicone protection cover for the case.

Sound quality so good that you’d swear it’s wired! Clear mids, strong bass, and natural highs. The volume could go a bit higher but it’s suitable for most. The app is crap and not what you’d expect from B&W. No real controls, just basically used for set up. Buy it for the sound quality above all else!

These earbuds are my first official purchase in the true wireless earbud market. That being said, I have listened to a few pairs that are widespread such as Airpods, Bose, Beats, Galaxy Buds etc. and can tell you these out do all those in terms of sound by a noticeable margin. I do experience the infamous dropped connection issue from time to time and had to replace my first pair as they wouldnt connect to my phone at all. Battery life hasnt been an issue for me at all but, I can see how it woupd be if I used them all day. Comfort level is great on these. Forgot I had them in-ear one night and fell asleep. Noise cancellation is okay. Nothing to write home about. Coming from an IEM user, I figure most earbuds won’t come close to that performance either way.

Das darf schon was heien.

Okay, so I did purchase this pair as a used pair on prime days, so the price was half the cost, compared to a new pair. Maybe I was lucky, but although the item condition was not “very good”, but only “good” , the only drawback, was the missing rubber-tips. No biggie for me, as I have a lot of spares.
Case and the earphones themselves, are without scratches and bumps, and did arrive fully updating, regarding the firmware.
I have several wireless earphones from b&o , also their newest EX , which is the same price as these pi7’s from b&w . And I did not expect the pi7 to be as crisp sounding as my EX’s .
Boy, I was in for a treat . Though a bit heavy on the bass, compared to the EX , the ip7 are the bomb!
They get a little louder than the EX , and the heavier bass, is never too much, i think.
Also the ANC are stronger than on EX, which surprised me, as I did not expect that at all. Mostly because youtube reviews showed poor ANC and way to much bass.
Bottom-line: If you can purchase these for around 250-300 , you will get the absolute best tws’s .
    Do I think they’re worth 400 : Maybe , but I wouldn’t pay that much , as :
    1) I can live fine with a used pair
    2) The battery life is only 4 hours
    3) Bluetooth connection drops quick, so you need your phone close
    4) No volume control gesture , so also here , you need to have you’re phone close 😉

Bought these on Amazon day so got a serious amount off them. I have re ad some of the other reviews, and quite frankly I absolutely love them.
The sound quality is amazing. The build quality is top notch. The case is a great design.
There is one down side, but I won’t minus a star for it, but I think Bowers and Wilkins should really take note on this. The app for these is a complete waist of time.

Recommendation to everyone if you purchase these just use them on Bluetooth don’t down load the app. It’s woefully bad.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersDie Pi7 sind mit 400 UVP schon extrem teuer.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI typically only read negative reviews. These headphones do require an extra step to ensure that BT connectivity is established and maintained. Once I did that, I’ve had no issues whatsoever.

    Pros:
    – Sound quality is phenomenal – I have Jabra Elites at about the same price point and the sound here just blows them away.
    – Fit, even in my baby ears, is spot on once I swapped to the small ear pieces
    – Battery life is fine
    – Wearing during a typical, weights-oriented workout is fine – if you’re doing HIIT or plyometrics, you’ll want something that’ll anchor the buds to your ears

    Cons:
    – The BT setup took an extra step – you definitely should download the B&W app if you get these. If you wan’t overpriced plug-n-play and have an iPhone, get Air Pods.
    – I debated whether to put this here or not…they do NOT get very loud, even when my phone is at max volume. They get plenty loud but I like the fact that I can’t destroy my ears (with super loud volume) when wearing these things the same way I can w/ the Jabras. The only reason I list this as a con is because the buyer should be able to hear their music at whatever volume they want. So if you like having your music completely cranked up, these aren’t for you. However, you’ll likely no where near get the same sound quality unless you go up the ladder in price.

Nothing touches the sound quality of the PI7s at <$300. Nothing.

After years of searching going through many different premium earbuds and returning them all.. I can honestly say these are absolute killers! The sound is just what I wanted from the price I got them for. 160 as they should be as I’ve paid over 200+ for earbuds that don’t even come close to these bad boys!

The comfort is a standout as I couldn’t last half an hour with any Sony or Sennheiser’s in my ears but these provide the comfort and the sound that makes the music more exciting than ever! I love all genres and the killer drivers inside provide you with that crystal clear highs and mids.

Noise cancelling is brilliant but what should you expect for the price.. easy touch sensors to switch between the outside world and just you and your music so I do recommend although the app has limited features with noise options.

It’s hard to find a flaw with these.. QI wireless charging, excellent noise cancelling, sound is top notch and the comfort is just as comfy as my AirPod Pro’s.

One major nitpick is the app. Very limited features and not much leeway to play around with the sound so you have to rely on an equaliser in most music apps to control your sound but you wouldn’t need to do that as these sound amazing without any altering.

Honestly can’t recommend these enough. Ignore the reviews about disconnecting and sound cutting out as I’ve never encountered any of these issues and seems to be a lot of Bowers haters out there but happily support Sonys and Senn which imo products are filled with flaws.

Have had many ear buds before, usually for sport. These are the first for purely listening to music.
Easy to connect to both iphone and Astell & Kern DMP.
Pop them in and twist and the sound is very good.
Never as good as over ears headphones, but for enjoying music in most environments these are superb.
Can go loud, but still clear sound.

    If you’re like me and:

    1. Would never listen to earbuds for more than 4hrs at a time.
    2. Don’t mind the occasional 1 second disconnection
    3. Don’t need to listen 10 meters away from your main device
    4. Don’t mind the constant reminders by this pair that they’re basically an unfinished product.
    5. Care a lot about fun sound

Then these are the buds for you. They’re inferior to airpods pro in every single metric other than sound quality. You can’t even tell whether active noise cancelling is on or off, but that doesn’t even matter, since they’re meant to be worn in a way that passively cancels 90% of the noise, so the result is the same.

The sound quality is amazing, the sound has a “fun” signature – it’s punchy, and bass-heavy but not overwhelmingly so. They might make you want to dance on the street in a way that airpods simply can’t.

They feel like an unfinished product and their initial price was a bit excessive imo, but I’m happy with the purchase and these are my go-to buds now.

So, I’ll start this by saying that I haven’t been plagued with the drop out issues others have had. Totally understand that would be incredibly annoying! But I’ve had no issues at all. I was a little put off because of the general flavour of that across most of the reviews I read. How glad I am that I persevered.

So, I’m a self described audiophile (my girlfriend says I’m bit a*al about it all!). I have had a number of sets of wireless buds now (including the award winning Sonys), and it’s no understatement to say these are a cut above.

The sound is so pure, and everything is given a sense to breathe, which is quite achievement given how limited ear buds generally are. Beautiful clear treble, true and precise base and just much more detail than I’ve heard in others.

Now that does come at a bit of a price, because as an all round package, they probably aren’t as good as others. For instance, as others have said, the noise cancelling isn’t as good as I’ve heard elsewhere. But, for my money, that’s a price worth paying for the purity of sound these units achieve.

Very glad I took the leap and assuming you can avoid the drop out problems, a very, very sound investment.

Fantastic earbuds & I’ve tried them all. Only let down is the noise cancelling which isn’t the best compared to Bose QuietComfort & Apple AirPods Pro. The battery life also could be improved BUT if you’re after the best sound, rich punchy bass, clear highs which comes from B&Ws dual drivers then these are the earbuds for you.

Bought these at discount, I don’t buy stuff at full price, if you need buds find ones that are on discount first. These sound great, They are loud enough and bass is awesome. But momentum v2s are great as well. Difference between my momentums and pi7s is that these are more comfy and sound a bit better, but v2s have nicer case and pretty English voice instead of beeps like in PI7 (I’m fairly certain its same voice actress that is the ship computer in elite dangerous). The sennheiser’s also have programmable commands which is awesome because as far as I can tell, PI7 doesn’t have volume control, which is annoying, you have to reach for your phone every time you wanna turn down the sound. Both buds I tried have low range so you pretty much have to carry your phone (I presume) around, especially if you choose the higher quality audio (96000 Hz, oh and make sure it supports aptx and bt 5.1). Build quality seems nice, and I used them both in the shower without issues. If you are choosing between these two, well I kept the pi7, but I was happy with sennheiser’s as well (gave them to my dad). Oh. One more feature pi7 have is that you can plug in your case in aux port and get audio through the case, which can be useful, but you can get a separate device that does the same thing if you need it.

Anc funktioniert, knnte jedoch etwas strker filtern.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEs un buen artculo.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have the Sony wf-1000xm4, Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, Jabra Elite 7 Pro and I use different buds for different purposes. The Buds pro are my go to buds for working out due to their general fit, sound quality and good bass. The Jabra Elite 7 Pro’s are my go to buds for work, as it supports multi-point and calls are very clear. The Sony WF-1000xm4’s are my go to buds for travelling on planes due to its noise cancelling performance and its overall sound quality. However, the PI7’s have the Sony’s beat in terms of sound quality. I’ve also tried the BEO EQ’s but I did not like them because the fit for my ears where quite poor and as a result, sound quality suffered. In addition, the PI7’s are smaller and they are just more comfortable to wear for longer periods of time. Some cons about the PI7’s is that the case feels a bit cheap and batter life is not great compared to others. Furthermore, the buds also quite expensive compared to others. If Bower and Wilkins, created at PI7 v2 with multi-point support, higher quality case, improved battery life, these buds would be perfect.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Users*Completely rehauled review*

    I’m gonna rapid fire;
    Battery – trash | 1/5
    Build – decent | 3/5
    Features – meh* | 2/5
    Sound quality – ok.** | 4/10

    * Ambient noise is passable, ANC is basically worthless (it actually affects sound quality so I never use it), and the only other real feature is the case transmitter which is more of a niche gimmick.

** As mentioned the ANC has a noticeable diminish in audio quality, furthermore there isn’t really much difference between the Liberty 3 pro’s and these for technicality. Tuning is ok, if you want neutral inspired basshead tuning it’s basically that. SQ isn’t really representative of the price you pay for these. This could be due to my phone not having Qualcomm adaptive thus it only uses regular aptx.

They do look nice though lol, if you buy headphones for eyes instead of your ears.

These are really good, bear in mind however that they are only as good as your phone…..if it can’t transmit in HD then you’re not gonna hear HD. Noise cancelling is also good but only if you have an air tight fit in your ear.
Try them, if you have the right phone and get the right fit then you won’t want to put them down.

As an introduction to say, I have been looking for a very long time and many in-ear sound buds bought, like Sennheiser MT2, B & O E8 sports, and yes are good, but these by Bowers & Wilkins are the absolute top hammer. The sound is crystal clear, the bass very harmonious, no matter if you hear Hard Rock, Classic, Oldis you want to forget everything around yourself, you dive into another world, and feels like in a professional sound studio, hermetically corrected. Of course, I bae this Bowers & Wilkins Buds also linked to the Samsung 8K TV and watched me a movie with Atmos Dolby Sound, it’s breathtaking as the sound effects are played back, as you even doing the good Denon 50 plate Headphone, because it’s There is hardly a difference.

I can highly recommend this Earbuds of Bower & Wilkins are really the best of all three worlds (Sennheiser, B & O, Bowers & Wilkins)

Golden Review Award: 31 From Our UsersLet me start by saying that *sound quality* is paramount for me. I tried my wife’s Airpod Pro’s, not expecting stunning sound quality, but hoping that it would be at least “good enough” and that I would purchase a pair due to their flawless integration with all things in the Apple-verse (yeah, that’s my universe). I found the Airpod Pro’s clear and clean, and effortless to use. But I really was not thrilled with the sound quality. So began the search for something significantly better – that led me to these Bowers & Wilkins PI7’s.

Like you, reading here, I found contradictory reports. At least one thing in common in almost all reviews was that these sound wonderful (they do!). Unfortunately, some folks reported trouble – difficulty connecting, Bluetooth dropouts, poor signal from the case/transmitter when using them with non-Bluetooth native devices (like an old-era iPod), etc. I almost did not order them, but I’m glad I did.

My observations here are based on using the PI7’s with: an iPhone X, Apple TV HD, MacBook Pro ca. 2016, and, yes, an old click-wheel iPod. First things first, I love the sound quality! As with any in-ear monitor, the *fit* is critical. Without a good seal, you will have poor sound – terribly weak bass and other distortions. I have large ears and I use the largest of the three included ear-tips. I recommend using the largest tip that you find comfortable. The PI7 earpieces themselves are a bit large. I have no problem with them, but if you have particularly small ears you might find they don’t fit comfortably. The only way to know is to try.

As long as they fit, and you use the proper size ear-tip (to get a good seal), the sound is glorious! Ok, remember, they are wireless bluetooth earbuds. They are not going to dust the best wired headphones you have ever used. But, really, for what they are, they sound awesome!

Any trouble?? A number of folks reported trouble with the sound dropping out. I have not had any such trouble. This may be dependent on the particular devices &/or environment. As long as I stayed close to the broadcasting source, I had *no* dropouts. Now, if I walked across the room, around a corner, etc., then the sound would drop out. Maybe some other earbuds perform better in this respect. But for my use this was a non-issue. Another user reported that when using the case as a transmitter (say with an old iPod), the sound/connection was bad. Again, I have had no trouble here. While typing this I’m listening to a great playlist from my old iPod, being transmitted by the PI7’s case. The sound is wonderful!

I use the PI7’s paired to my Apple TV while I’m on the treadmill (an old & noisy one). Between the good fit/seal and the noise cancellation, the sound is excellent. Does the noise cancellation equal the over-ear Bose headphones I’ve used in the past? Probably not. But it is plenty good enough.

My use with phone calls has not been extensive; so far, callers have sounded very clear and they have said the same about me.

One area where I’ve had a little trouble with the PI7’s is with the Ambient Pass-Through. This is an important feature, allowing external sounds/voices to be “piped-in” with whatever you are otherwise listening to. As other people have commented, you need to use the B&W Headphone App in order to engage this feature. It would be nice if you could trigger it from the earbuds themselves. Additionally, sometimes I found the earbuds “reluctant” to engage the ambient pass-through. I’d have to toggle it a couple times.

All in all, though, I love these earbuds! Their operation may be a tad less good than the refined perfection of Apple’s own devices (in the Apple-verse), and there is room for improvement (quick, reliable, on-device engagement of ambient pass-through), but if you *really* care about sound quality, these are by far the best wireless earbuds I’ve heard at this time.

Update 11/16/2021: I had complained about the Ambient Pass-Through toggle (in the app) not always working. Lately, I’ve had no trouble with it. There *is* a slight delay, switching in either direction. Not sure if this had made me feel it was not switching. In any event, no complaints with that now. Also, though I was happy with the fit of the included ear tips, I ordered a set of Comply tips to try. For me, the Comply tips were no more comfortable than the included tips. However, for me, the sound is much better using the INCLUDED TIPS. This may be ear-shape dependent. But I found that the included tips yielded better bass, overall clarity and richness. So, if you find you are happy with the comfort of the included tips – I’d stop there.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAfter reading numerous reviews indicating blue tooth connectivity problems I was ready to return these pups as I couldn’t get them to pair with my iPhone 12 pro. I had requested and was granted return status. Yet I kept thinking about the reviews that gave these earbuds stellar marks for audio quality so I called Bowers and Wilkins. The rep walked me through the pairing process that was not clear on the tiny instruction sheet. Very glad I called. The sound quality is awesome. I also own Bose, Sony and Apple ear buds. These by Bowers and Wilkins leave the rest in the dust. I also use Bowers and Wilkins PX7 over the ear head phones. I have three pairs in three different locations. Love the sound quality. Equal to or better than B&O H95’s. Like the over the ear headphones these buds do not sound/feel like they are compressing the sound into your brain through the ear. I’m not an audiophile but know that I prefer a wide sound stage. I don’t know how they accomplished that with ear buds but they did. These are also very comfortable. I did add Comply Ear Tips. I also read reviews that complained about build quality and the lack of controls on the buds themselves. I don’t agree with the negative build quality comments. The buds seem solid and are comfortable (for me). The lack of controls can be problematic. You have to control volume etc with the phone or other source. I use the P13 for bike riding or hiking. They have easy to use in line controls. The P17’S could definitely benefit from the basic controls that most other ear buds have.
Are they expensive? No doubt. Worth it. I reckon so. I’m keeping these and will probably send the other brands to the Yavapai Humane Society or the Compassionate Justice thrift stores. On the overall rating I stopped at four stars due to lack of controls and as the instruction manual is barely decipherable — especially for an old geezer such as myself. Battery life has not been established so I left that blank.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI rarely write a review, in fact I can’t recall the last one. I’m not sure what the issue seems to be with peoples Bluetooth dropouts? Maybe the initial batch was defective. I got them today, they instantly paired with my iPhone 13 Pro Max with the touch of a button. I paired them on the top floor and walked to the basement opposite side of a 4000sq/ft house. Not a hiccup, my AirPods Max and Aipods Pro can also accomplish this. I was stunned, after all the Bluetooth issues I’ve read about, this pair has no such issue. Now, onto the sound. I’ve done home theater for years, I’d consider myself an audiophile and very knowledgeable on sound reproduction. These are simply put, INCREDIBLE! They have deep bass, the mid bass never gets lost or muddy and the treble is smooth as butter. I’ve got the WF-1000mx4, sennheiser momentum 2’s, beats studio buds, Bose quiet comfort buds, Jabra 75t, 85t, AirPods Pro. Easily these are the best of the bunch when it comes to sound quality. If you’re looking for something close and 100.00 cheaper get the Sony WF-1000mx4’s. Honestly, for the size they complete very closely to the AirPod Max. They can’t match the db output for sure, but sonically they’re property darn close. Where others beat these is with ANC. The Sony’s and the Bose are easy wins here. So far (roughly 4 hours) I haven’t run into one hiccup, just pure sonic bliss. I haven’t had a pair of earbuds that I can recall that instantly put a grin on my faceThese did that with the first few musical notes. Yes they’re expensive, hopefully B&W has figured out the BT issues, my pair is flawless.

I had high expectations when it comes to B&W products. The B&W PI7 does not disappoint except for one thing and one thing only… its battery life. But before that let’s talk audio.

Right out of the box, the buds sound pretty good but not amazing. It’s the B&W signature tuning that you would expect. Not my 100% prefer sound signature and its app does not have an EQ setting. But man, once you adjusted the eq (if only you are able to, like me, my phone comes with an EQ in its sound setting.), these buds do not disappoint, they will sound like the best earphones you ever had. Superior soundstage and audio quality. Every aspect is on another level than every pair of earphones I ever had/tried (MTW2, B&O EQ, XM4s, MW08, Liberty 3 pro, 75t…). The 24-bit makes everything superbly clear and you will hear every little details in your music like you never before, I kid you not. These sound insanely good and so far they have my favourite sound.

The charging case as an audio transmitter is a pretty cool function too, plug the 3.5mm in, and you will be able to hear HiRes audio w/o having to disconnect and pair to another source. I reckon this can be an alternative to the lack of multipoint pairing in this pair (if your another source has a 3.5mm of course). The case itself is ‘ok-ish’ quality, not top-notch luxurious like the B&O EQ and MW08. It can feel a bit cheap as it is matte-finished, soft to touch plastic. The magnet tho, is strong. If you have slippery/wet fingers, you might find it hard to take out the buds from the case.

ANC is pretty good. You may find some reviewers complaining the ANC on these but I will say ANC is pretty good and quite strong (Just 1 level below the XM4s?). When walking down the streets, the pair cancels out most of the engine rumbles and you can barely hear people talking on the street. On a scale of 100, you are probably left with 20-30% of the noise (for XM4s, I’ll say 10-15%) depending on how the buds fit.

The downside of these? The battery life. It is 2021 now and these only lasted at most 4 hours with ANC on… I mean, Senn’s MTW2 which was released around 2 years ago can already do this number, B&W you can do better than this. Some people will find 4hours enough, but some will definitely say that hardly pass the line. Just see this as the trade-off for having a higher transmission rate between the buds.

In conclusion, if you want a pair that sits comfortably in your ears (, has the best sound (if you can tune the eq), you value the case as a transmitter, B&W brand itself and you have the money, then you should get these. THEY WON’T LET YOU DOWN (except for the battery life ;))

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersClass leading sound. I also compared to Sony XM4 and AirPod pro. I own AirPod pros which are a tad more comfortable and louder in the mid range/highs with more bite however overall detail and depth is much more satisfying with the B&Ws. They stay in my ears better than Sony’s did too. Sony’s sounded dull in comparison. I’ve noticed KEF are joining the party soon so will be interesting to see how they compare. Connectivity is an issue though. Occasionally lose both or individually. Annoying while running. If they can sort the connection issues it would be 5 star.

Unless you are really into your music the price of these headphones would be hard to justify. I’ve tried many different headphones and find the Bose quiet comfort to be better for noise cancelling,

The alternative to these is the PI5 headphones which I would say was almost exactly the same audio quality for a lot less money.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIf you’re looking at these earphones it’s because you’re looking for wireless in ears without wanting to compromise on sound quality – and these will do just that. Unfortunately, there are some issues which, in some cases, may be deal breakers. That’s for you to determine:

    Good:
Broad range of codecs – these will connect using aptx, aptx HD, aptx LL, aptx Adaptive and the normal BT codecs (SBC, that apple one). Broad range of flexibility.

Case – the case doubles up as a wireless retransmitter for analogue sources (using the provided 3.5mm to usb-c cable) and for digital sources.

Design – these look beautiful, and moreso in the white than the black.

    The bad:
Connection issues – as of writing this review, I have experienced issues connecting to certain devices where the PI7s will not connect using the best available codec. This issue has been observed with the Sony NW-WM1A. No Aptx HD when using these two together. This is a known and prevalent issue with others reporting connectivity issues with a whole host of devices. Phones seem to be ok but I would do some research before dropping the dollar if you’re not sure. As of yet there has been no firmware update to address this.

Controls – the passthrough mode which allows some sounds through can only be toggled through the smartphone app. This would be fine if the app was rapid and smooth – but it isn’t.

At the time of writing there are also quality control issues with the battery. I initially had a pair in white that completely discharged after 1 day when the buds were left in the case with the case closed.

The noise cancellation is as good as the BW PX7 from my limited testing. I haven’t been on the train yet with these on.

Battery life varies but on average it is middling.

Overall I recommend these if your priority is sound quality and flexibility and everything else is a nice to have.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAs a B&W fan I have been waiting for them to release a pair of true wireless buds for a while now. Typically they had to go up against the new release from Sony, regarded as pretty much the gold standard of wireless earpieces nowadays. So, it was not a foregone conclusion buy, I read an awful lot of reviews of both before I committed. Everything I have read tells me that for the balance of battery life, ANC and sound quality the Sony’s are the one to go for. But. All the reviews I’ve read without question say that the B&W’s have the edge when to comes to ultimate sound reproduction, and that’s my priority, so that’s why I went for them. TL:DR the sound these things pump out is *astonishing*. True to B&W the sound leans towards the rich, but without any bloat at the bottom end or sacrificing of highs or detail, from Metallica to Clannad via all points in between these beauties give out a sound that only 4/5 years ago would have been the preserve of high end wired IEM’s.

I must say I’m blown away with these, first thing I’d say is if you enjoy volume these are your earbuds, secondly bass is clean and punchy, it makes you feel like your in the music. Vocals r cripsy clear and prominent, these are earbuds high quality and noise cancelling isn’t the strongest I’ve ever tested but still blows me away.

Golden Review Award: 57 From Our UsersThe B&W I& headphones arrived this morning and have been in my ears ever since. I’m just in from my evening state mandated exercise and despite getting warm in the May sun. They are IP54 rated so you can get a bit of rain or sweat on them. They remained unmolested in my hears unlike AirPods Pro which need reseating all the time when im exercising…

The PI7s have the B&W detailed punchy exciting sound. Its not quite flat but it really is fun. Unlike the AirPods Pro or the Bose version (With the silly long name) these come with bass; its bass forward – not like beats overload – because the rest of the music is bright but there is a bit more bass and it is punchy too. The detail of your music isnt lost though; the soundstage is definitely mostly inside my head but oh the detail. The ominous bass pad sounds in the Expanse theme tune are much more crisp than the Bose headphones I ran it against. My favourite headphone test the Girl from Byakkoya thanks to its brittle harps and dense overlaid sound is very impressive. The best thing about new headphones is going through old favourites and I really like how these sound; after months of hearing them the same way the change makes things feel new.

After the sound its worth noting that when I ordered them I was slightly concerned about the fit. B&W have chosen to use the solid silicone style tips; which in the past I have found cause a pressure problem. The PI7’s tips are soft and the medium size tip sized perfectly. The good fit adds some passive sound isolation; and helps the ANC which isn’t as good as the Bose version. Though unlike any other ANC I have tried it doesn’t seem to make a noticeable difference to the playback and there is no hiss.

The metal tips of the earbuds let you use gesture controls to skip tracks, answer the phone or summon your assistant. They don’t do volume which is a shame.

There is an app; and the PI7 are the first headphones in a while that didn’t immediately apply an update. The app lets you listen to some calming sounds and that is about it.

Callers found the microphones to be a bit quiet. They could hear me and they reportedly did a good job removing the sound of people around me.

Bluetooth pairing on an apple at least is a manual affair – the range is pretty good. I was able to walk 10m from my phone and still hear my music without interruptions.

The battery life is similar to the AirPods; it lasted 3 hours out of the box and charged up quickly in its (very) plastic charging case. The charging case has a lovely trick for users. You can connect computers or analog auto to it and it will transmit it to your earbuds. The USB cable connected to my Mac and I could stream lossless audio by clicking the button on the caes. Its being sold as a feature for travelling as you can connect it to your seat and relay in the plane audio. Ear buds are better for flying – especially if you are in Business or first as you can sleep with them more easily than a big headset. For flying they didn’t include the 2 pin adaptor – that is less an issue on newer planes. The case charges with the USB-C Socket or over QI charging.

The design of the headphones is really nice; and it is carried through to the case. Though the case doesn’t feel anywhere near as nice as the Bose or Apple versions.

For me its about the sound; and I love it. The case’s party trick of being a Dac/ transmitter is a really thoughtful design. If the price doesn’t put you off these really are excellent.
