his is great for my 7 year old as a beginner. its lightweight, portable and easy to use. it shows the finder if there is an item below the ground by sounding a beeping noise. the search coil is waterproof so it can be used in woodland, lakes or the beach easily. its great for children to use but not so much for adults. it is currently being sold for 41.99 down from 50 which personally i feel is a better price to be sold.
This is great fun. Very easy to set up and use. My daughter loves it and loved the idea of finding treasure. Very impressed with it. Good value for money.
This arrived with two batteries and a digging kit (spade and fork). The batteries were quite difficult to attach, but after that it was easy to use and actually great fun. Instructions were easy to follow and the metal detector expands for larger kids. I must admit the connections were a little on the cheap side, but it did hold itself together in use.
Great starting detector for the very young enthusiast, East to set up and use. Lightweight for the children.

This metal detector seems like an excellent quality product. It was great that the 2 square batteries are included as they are not something you’d typically have in the drawer at home. The pole height is extendable so you can adjust it to a height that’s suitable for your kid to use. There’s a battery testing ‘mode’ and you can adjust the detector’s sensitivity to ignore particular type of metals like iron, nickel etc. When we tested it in the garden over mud it was picking up things straight away not visible to our eyes. Of course this would be only screws or nails (unfortunately). We did test it over some coins outside too (in the house there would be too much interference and this product is meant for outdoor use.)
The set includes a robust black plastic trowel and rake. It lost a star In this rating simply because the battery compartment is so tight we weren’t t able to remove the batteries without pliers (you must store this without the batteries installed). It is also something that adults will need to teach younger kids to use particularly with regards to the Elimination switch.
Whether you use this in the garden or at the beach it will provide plenty of fun and entertainment for many afternoons to come.
Ideal as a kids starter metal detector with two batteries for hand held meter reader, this also comes with two trowels to help in your locating items, this is a bit over priced at 49 given its for kids and made from cheap materials other than that they will enjoy see pictures to show full item
This metal detector is great for learning exploring young minds. It was simple enough to pop together and insert the included batteries. With this been for kids, I wouldn’t suggest an adult used it for long periods of time as you’ll end up with a sore back from been stooped over.
Detects metal really well and with the included shovel and fork is very easy to unearth your find.

This is rather a fun item that’s great for keeping your children (and even adults) occupied in the summer holidays. When this came up on the Vine programme I was happy to apply for this metal detector for my rather bored thirteen year old son.
This metal detector comes in a brown cardboard box. It is really easy to use and when you hit upon a metal object (or coin etc) it starts to beep. So far we’ve had no luck finding gold or anything of value but we do live in hope.
I’m really impressed with this metal detector. It is definitely ideal for children because it is lightweight and really simple to use. It picked up metal that wasn’t too deep, probably about 3 inches deep. I haven’t tried it on anything deeper but it was very fast at being able to find the metal. I also like how fast it was to set up and how easy it is to take out and about, it fits well into small cars. Definitely recommend for an affordable metal detector!

Things me and the kids didn’t like. The battery requirements are two 9v batteries. The coil end (the bit you run just off the ground) doesn’t secure great, bit of cheapy plastic. The main pole is extendable, but again, secured by cheap plastic bits. What we loved. Well, not been crazy excited about wanting to dig up parts of the garden, I gave them two turns each to find some buried treasure. Putting the unit on full power and no exclusions (i.e. find any metal), both the kids were very quickly able to find 4 positive beeps. I was a little skeptical, but using a small metal trowel (the included tools might not work on heavily dry soil, which given our recent heat waves, we have a lot. Digging a small hole at each signal, then getting them to rescan with the detector, we hit gold 4 times – or 100% success rate of finding metal!! So convinced of its ability to actually work, we had an absolute great time digging up our finds. We won’t be appearing on Antiques Roadshow with any of it, but it was so fun detecting something we couldn’t see, then digging it up. Always wanted a metal detector as a kid, and I am super pleased we managed to get this one for a starter. Brilliant in the garden, can imagine loads of fun taking it to the beach or forest and digging up a load of old tut and trying to work out what it actually is. We spent some time cleaning up our treasure, and then some more time guessing what it was or where it came from. Brilliant, absolutely love it. A star knocked off for cheapy plastic construction and the jumpy price (it was listed as 36 for both orange and black, and then suddenly 47 for the orange one). Starts to become closer to 60 then, with batteries. Looking forward to using the “excluder” to find other interesting bits. Love it.
This is absolutely brilliant-the only problem is the kids fighting over who gets to use it! They have been up and down the garden and we’ve dug a few holes (nails usually!) and we realised that we buried the dog and our cats with their collars on and the children found them but thankfully we stopped them digging there!!! We are off to the beach soon for our hols and they can’t wait to use it there too! Haven’t had a single problem with it so very happy!

This is a great metal Detector for Kids, it’s the perfect starter one..
This metal Detector has 2 easy to control Modes, our 10 year old grandson has been testing this for us and he can use easily with no help…… We took him up to our local beach yesterday and we got this up and running, he found nearly five pounds worth of coins so he was very happy with that….. It works perfectly and is exactly as the description describes, no issues!

We have found it ideal for a beach setting where digging in the sand is easy to achieve.

My son wanted a medal detector for long time, when he saw other kids was using it at the beach. I decided to buy one for him. He was so excited, because it’s light enough and small enough for him. He really likes exploring when we go to the beach. The metal detector is accurate, finding things that were buried under sand and even some under water.
Great little detector for children. Nice and light for them to hold. Easy to assemble and use.
First off, it comes in an unfancy basic box.
Nothing colourful which would look a lot better, especially if you are giving as a gift.
Having said that, it is easy to put together.
And small enough and ideal for little hands.
Bought as a present for the grandkids.
If they like it. I will be buying another one.
But all around a good buy.
