Was bought gir a birthday present to protect my husbands rifle and make it easier for him to move around with. It is a strong case, and he had cut out the internal foam to protect all his equipment saving him from diving into various pockets etc to search for necessary bits and pieces. He is very happy with i
Very nice piece and very easy to form your gun in the foam inside the case
Great case for protecting your rifle. Fairly heavy even when empty but will do a great job of protecting the contents from bumps and knocks. The inners are easily shaped to fit the contents. All in all very happy and good value compared to some other branded names.
I really like the fact you can shape the inside to match your gun and accessories. Also its so well built i would not hesitate in putting it on a aeroplane as luggage. It is quiet heavy though, but its worth the extra weigh
High quality items need high quality protection and this meets that standard.
Heavyweigh
he box is definitely as pictured and described. The foams insides are protective, Good for storage though a bit pricy…
Belle malette, solide , spacieuse . Dommage pour les coups et rayures…
Fabrication robuste. Calage intrieur efficace. Bonne dimensions intrieures. Peut-tre un peu lourde …
4 stars out of 5.
If you are looking for a sturdy, well-made case that is more cost-effective than the usual suspects, this is a great option.
My husband, who is the one who owns and operates the guns in our household, assisted me in reviewing these cases. I’ll begin by focusing on the positives, which is that this case is well-made and very sturdy. The latches do a great job of keeping his guns and accessories inside, and the case is waterproof and dust-proof as a bonus. This case is heavily lined and the wheels roll well, assisting in moving this from one location to another without having to carry the actual case. The cases are large, which means that you can store a lot inside and these are more reasonably priced than some alternatives.
The downside to this case, and the reason that it lost a star from us, is that these are quite bulky and heavy, likely due to their large size and the additional protections that are built in. This can make transportation cumbersome despite the addition of the wheels to help.
This would have gotten five stars from us if it were a little lighter and easier to move from place to place. That being said this case offers excellent protection at a great price and is worth investing in, especially if you aren’t looking to travel all that often with it.
This gun case is built very strong and sturdy and because of this it is very heavy to carry. Its not a case that we would use to take our guns into thw woods, its more of a traveling case not a go out hunting case. Seals very tight with a waterproof seal. It has a flip out handle that is a bit short and awkward to pull for taller people, my husband is 6 feet and finds it awkward to pull with the handle. The wheels roll nice on smooth surfaces. The foam insert comes as a blank sheet for you to customize your gun. Its easy to customize as they are little squares you tear out. Once customize to fit your gun properly your gun will be well secure in the foam. You can remove the foam insert and still use it as a normal case but your gun wont be secured in place. Latches seem to be quite strong
The “MEIJIA Portable Waterproof All Weather Rifle Hard Case with Rolling Wheels, Foam Inserted, Elegant Black” is an excellent alternative to other, higher priced brand name, hard rifle cases. The case has plenty of room for your rifle, and the pick-and-pluck foam insert in 1cm cubes allows you to customize the support/protection for your cargo. The case has 4 sturdy closing clips, sturdy handles and hinges. The foam inserts provide good support for whatever you chose to put in the case and there are two lock holes for padlocks.
Overall, this case is an excellent alternative, worth consideration.
I own and use a number of similar cases made by Pelican and Nanuk, which are two major brands in this market. I’ve always felt like Pelican and Nanuk were pretty nearly equivalent in quality, features and toughness with Pelican maybe having a slight edge but liking Nanuk because a lot of their cases are made in Canada. You might be looking at one of these Meijia cases because you looked at Pelican and balked at the cost. These cases are WAY more reasonably priced. Hopefully I can answer the question you probably have at this point: Is the extra cost of Pelican (or Nanuk) justified, or is it all paying for a brand name?
I’ve spent some time examining the Meijia cases and comparing them to both my Pelican and Nanuk cases and these are the main differences/shortfalls that you’ll be compromising on if you go with the Meijia ones. If I don’t mention a particular aspect of the case, it’s because I feel like they’re basically equivalent or at least acceptably similar.
Latches: The Meijia latches seem to do the job “fine” of keeping the cases closed, and they do require a purposeful amount of force to unlatch but they are clearly inferior from the latch systems of either Pelican or Nanuk. While the Pelican and Nanuk cases both require a secondary operation to “unlock” before you can unlatch them by either pushing a button or sliding a release on the latches the Meijia latches are simply kept closed by friction. It’s conceivable that if the cases are being jostled around that a latch could get caught on something and become unlatched accidentally. The other thing is that there are latches only on the long edge of the case where my Pelican and Nanuk cases that are anywhere near the size of these Meijia cases will have latches on all three non-hinged sides.
Handles: The handles on the Meijia cases seem suitably tough and I don’t believe that you’ll ever have an issue with them breaking or cracking or anything of that sort. But they are lacking a feature that I’ve become used to on my other cases where my other cases will sort of “lock” the handle in the flat/closed position against the sides of my cases and require a bit of force to “unlock” to be used. The Meijia handles simply pivot on their hinge pins and don’t have any mechanism to keep them locked close to the body of the case when you’re not using them which means there is a chance they will either get in the way or get caught on things when the cases are moved around.
Pressure equalization: All of my Pelican and Nanuk cases have special valves built into the body of the cases that will allow air pressure in the case to equalize with the cases surroundings while still maintaining the water proofness of the cases. The Meijia cases don’t have any valve like this at all, what they do have is a screw-in “cap” which needs to be completely closed to be water proof (and honestly, is kind of easy to loosen by accident) and if you need to worry about pressure equalization you need to basically remove it all the way to leave the small hole to the interior which also means that the case is no longer water proof (if it gets dunked in water, it will, eventually, take on water through the hole).
General case quality: The Meijia cases, I feel, when empty are heavier than an equivalent Pelican or Nanuk case would be. Fit and finish is generally good, but there are some things that show that the level of quality assurance and fit and finish is just not up to the same standards (overflow of some glue around the gaskets, some strangely molded plastic parts, some imperfectly cleaned up excess plastic left from when they were released from their molds). None of it really affects the function of the case other than the extra weight. The pick and pluck foam is generally fine but it seems slightly less resilient than the foam in my other cases if I had to be really picky – it doesn’t bounce back from pressure as readily – again, though, I think that it is perfectly serviceable.
Most of these downsides and limitations I’ve listed above really aren’t a big deal unless you plan on needing to travel with the case by air. When you’re having to check the case, it’s going to get thrown around, mixed with other luggage, and be placed in non-pressurized storage areas on the plane. This is when latches that may open if they get caught on something, handles that may catch on things, and the lack of a proper pressure equalization valve all become things that you may start to worry about. If you never plan to have to travel with the cases by air, then these things become just more minor annoyances.
While these cases certainly aren’t cheaper non-branded equivalents of the MUCH more expensive name brand cases, they do have clear downsides/limitations in my direct comparison, they are still really great cases if these things are less important to you and are looking to save some money. For the vast majority of general storage uses, I think these cases are great especially considering the cost.
