It was protected very well. I run it in the garage, it’s perfect, Plug it in, turn it on, plug into the car, go and do whatever. I usually run it on 6A purely as I’m in no hurry to charge the car most of the time. in the rain it goes well too, The unit stays cool without issue.
A good quality alternative to the silly priced car dealer alternatives. Very well made
Only improvement needed is a feature to dim or blank the display at night – its quite bright. Otherwise works well.
Good values compared to having a charging point put i
I bought it as an emergency charger on long drives. Received in good condition and worked as expected. It seems it can be helpful.
This is a great quality car charger that works flawlessly. The charge rate is easily adjusted with the push of a button and the quality of the charger unit, plug and cable is great. It comes with a nice storage case that keeps it well protected.
Then built in display shows all sorts of information including the charge rate as well as the amount of juice I’ve pumped into my car. It works out the box without any setup. Just remember to charge at 10A or below in the UK. Even though you can, you should avoid charging at the max 13A rate for too long as this will put a lot of strain on your plug sockets. But at 10A, I’ve left this plugged in all night comfortably with no issues.
This charging cable does exactly what it’s supposed to and does it superbly well. Easy to connect and use, it is the longest (and the best) EV cable I’ve tried so far, so I would definitely recommend.
Most people would not be buying this to use as there main charging cable. It simply takes too long to charge an EV over 13A. However, that is missing the point. It’s perfect for a back-up emergency solution when you go somewhere that does not have a fast charger at all. For example, friends and family. The robust storage bag holds the cable in neatly and it sits in the boot of our EV ready to be used.
I did of course test it and it worked without any issues, very simple to use. It was impressed by the long 7.5m cable which is helpful for someone like me who has a socket quote far away from the car.
Yes it’s expensive but this is a decent bit of kit and I would want to buy cheap charging cables and risk a potential fire.
Happy to recommend.
Portable Type 2 Charging Cable UK 3 pin Model 2 Adjustable Current 6/8/10/13 A, 7.5 Metres Digital Screen,IP65 Max Waterproof level, EV Home Ev Charger Type 2
This EV charger comes in a good quality portable carry bag made from strong material. It’s a good size bag that can be kept in boot or at home for quick access in emergency.
The 7.5m cable length is longer than the standard high speed cable supplied with the car and provides more flexibility in use.
Just plug it into a mains socket and into the car and charging starts straight away. It’s very quick and simple to use. The information on the digital information panel is clear and simple to understand. The charge rate is not quick but an overnight domestic charge definitely gets you out of trouble or offers recharge when a fast charger is not readily available.
A highly recommended piece of domestic EV charging kit.
I ordered this for my sister who has recently changed to electric car.The charger comes with smart carry case so can store in boot and runs via standard 3pin plug. She says it works well and she likes length of cable.Great emergency charger for electric car when unable to get to fixed charge point she is happy to own and keep in boo
Portable Type 2 Charging Cable UK 3 Pin Plug.
This is a well made EV charge cable. The cable is well manufactured and charges without any problems. The fitted UK 3 pin plug will charge your vehicle, albeit very slowly. The included carry case makes it perfect for carrying in the boot of your car.
I will keep the review updated with how well the charge cable performs over time. So far its worked flawlessly.
This a very well made, quality item that works equally as well as a “regular” cable purchased with an EV. We have this as a spare for use at our barn and bungalow for those times wen we have visitors who need a “top up”. Charging rates are as fast as for regular cables, so absolutely no complaints there. It has a very nice storage bag, although its not easy getting it back in after use as the “folding” of the cable to make it fit is quite tight. But overall a very worthwhile investment.
This portable type 2 charging cable UK 3 pin works excellent with no any errors and this is most important for sure. The service life is about >10000 times, working temperature -30C ~+ 50C, applicable models are cars with european specifications, contact pin copper alloy, silver or nickel plating, input cable specification: 3*2.5mm2, output cable specification: 3*2.5mm2+2*0.5mm2, cable diameter: 12(mm), voltage is: 250V, the power is: 3.4KW, Cable length is: 7.5m(24.6ft), controller type is by LCD screen. It is very well protected against: grounding protection, leakage protection, overtemperature protection, under-voltage protection, waterproof protection, over-voltage protection, lightning protection and RCD type AC/DC protection. It can be used for many different top brands like: Audi, BMW, Citroen, Ford, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, LEVC, Lexus, MAN, Maxus, Mazda, Mercedes, MG, Mini, Nissan, Peugeot, Polestar,,Seat, Skoda, Smart, Tesla, Toyota, Vauxhall, and Volkswagen. It is built from high-strength ABS material, ensuring a longer service life and higher product quality. Comes with one year warranty. This set also includes a handy suitcase in which you can easily take this device with you wherever you want. Very expensive product (199.99) at the moment but it will certainly be useful to anyone who has an electric car and of course it will fit it. Highly recommend!
I got this Portable Type 2 Charging Cable UK 3 pin as a spare so I can carry it around in the car. The cable that came with the car I’ve got padlocked to the wall so that nobody can take it but that makes it a nuisance to take with me when needed. This charging cable has a nice, soft carry case. The cable is a good length and is thick and sturdy. The casing on the charger and plug are both thick and strong. The back of the charging box has a recess so it can be hung on a screw (see pictures). This charging cable looks and feels high quality.
Have only just bought this as a “get out of jail” purchase on amazon as my 3 pin plug charger that came with my model 3 has stopped working. Arrived next day in good time. I used to hit a charge rate of 9 miles/hr with the tesla charger plugged into my outside 3-pin plug socket, whereas this is registering between 11-12 miles/hr of charge. Can’t comment on anything other than first impressions having only just plugged it in, but based on appearance, cost & charge rate this is a winne
Want to save money on a three-pin domestic Type 2 charger? This will do the job! It’s cheaper and smaller than a typical
manufacturer charger, though, and those chargers are usually 10A.
So why is it cheaper and 13A? It’s pushing the limits of safe design that define those bulky factory options, and should be used with
more care than a factory charger.
That is not to say that it is not safe; it is a good charger with useful meter for how much you have topped up, too. For a plug-in hybrid with a small battery it’s ideal. Less so for a fully electric car that could be charging for 27 hours.
So, good points:
Display – handy and informative. However the kWh resets when disconnected and reconnected so you do want to check your charging each time if you’re monitoring costs – I’d prefer it counting up for a week then resetting.
Weight – it’s light and fits in a small bag – it would fit where most manufacturer charger cables live.
Length of charge cable – 7.5m is enough to reach pesky front charge ports without parking nose-in.
Storage bag – velcro back and easy to zip up.
13A charging is genuinely quicker than 10A – nearly 3kW. It’s close to the rate you will get from charging at Tesco or similar when your car only has 3.6kW capability such as some Volvo or PSA plug-in hybrids. That means a top up of my 3008 is fast and a full charge is less than four hours.
Less good points:
The 13A cable is short, but it is not thick. It is not enough for this sustained throughput and gets appreciably warm at 13A after 20
minutes or so. Not enough to worry about a four hour charge when at home and able to check it, but I wouldn’t leave this charging full-time over 8A.
The Type 2 connector is robust but feels a little brittle.
The plastic over the screen and mode switch is a little cheap feeling.
Conclusion? A great deal for plug-in hybrids, a handy low-cost extra to leave at friends or family you visit often, and a good charger just as capable as the factory option for thr cars I tried it with.
But it gets four stars because lower-cost or not that skinny 13A cable worries me. You get what you pay for and this isn’t engineered to deliver that 13A, near-3kW rate reliably in all the situations it could be used, or for a long time. It needs more care than you might take with a factory charger.
Keep all that in mind and it’s great.
This is a very straightforward and easy to use the EV charging cable. Simply just plug in and it starts charging right away from a mains socket. I found the 7.5m to be a sufficient length and it allows you the flexibility to charge your car anywhere. It all comes in a portable carry bag which can be neatly stored away in the boot of your car. It’s made from good quality strong material which will hopefully be fairly robust and last quite some time. It worked well and have had no problems while charging so far. You rarely use the mains to charge the electric car but is definitely needed for emergencies. It does the job with an excellent information display. Highly recommended.
