This vest is a chunky beast, but then again it is covered in pockets, each containing a 0.5kg weighted ‘pellet’! Despite the bulk, it doesn’t hinder movement.
This probably isn’t the best if you want to burn more calories as you go for your daily stroll, it looks very conspicuous and you’ll look like a member of the SWAT team.
However, where this excels is as a vest to add more effort to exercise which use your bodies own weight – such as press ups or pull ups. The added weight makes these activities noticeably tougher and require much more effort. I’m not really a workout kinda guy but for those who are – this can be used to really maximise the time.
The individual weights can easily be removed so you can build up to the full weight as you require it. The vest feel secure once on and isn’t too difficult to take on and off. The design is kept simple, which I like and the central function works very well.
In a nutshell: If you want to but more energy whilst running/walking – this will do it, but it’s probably best for those who are at home and want to use more calories exercising or just doing daily activities. Even simple things like vacuuming the house feel like a workout when wearing this!
This isn’t for the amateur athlete but for those who are really serious about pushing it to the next level. If you are looking for a way to really exceed your own limitations, adding weights to your standard routine is a good way to do it. This vest is perfect for that purpose – it is easy to use and you can adjust the weights to any amound and distribution that suits you. I would recommend this to anyone looking to develop their stamina in a serious way.

What I do like is that you can choose how much weight you want to add to the vest. Meaning you can start low and work your way up to help with your exercises.

It fits me well, and there are three different places to secure it in place to taylor it to your size. It will go around different sizes leaving room for my boobie-dos and waist etc
But when my other half tried it, he said he wouldn’t be able to wear it for long as it rubbed on his neck. He would have needed the size around the neck and shoulders to have been wider.
So far so good

a very useful vest for practice exercises. It comes with different weights, so you can easily adjust it for your convenience. He is comfortable and wears well.
A great weighted vest to add a new dynamic to your workouts whether it’s weight training or additional weight while on a run or hike.
The vest materials feel pretty strong, each pocket has a small bag of grain weighing 0.5KG each totalling 10KG when all pockets are filled and can be easily adjusted to your preference. The vest features a few reflective strips on the front and back shoulders, each row of pockets is secured with velcro, there are three adjustable clip locks across the chest and elastic/foam sides for bigger bodies. For me as a slim 6’1 70KG guy the fit isn’t too bad once the straps are tightened, it’s not super snug and does hop around a little while jogging on the spot but it’s not enough to throw me off balance but may cause a little chafing when sweating.
This vest is ideal for a large amount of exercises, especially if you wanted to easily add extra weight to an exercise that might otherwise be awkward like abdominals, push ups, pull ups, dips, skipping, using a punching bag etc.
The price is fine, if you were to buy a 10KG barbell/dumbbell set you’d be looking at 10-20 anyway and this vest obviously serves a different purpose to conventional weights.
It’s great quality, strong and is a great additional piece of equipment for most disciplines.
I was surprised at how well I managed to walk once I had this on. It felt hard to shift with one arm but once the weight was distributed it was relatively easy. It definitely made the walk tougher.
Once I get a bit fitter this will be great for things like basketball and trying to increase my jump ability.
The only issue I found was trying to get the individual weights back into the pouches once you took them out. Otherwise a great product. Definitely worth it.
I have to say, I was so focused on having something to increase the load to my gym work that I didn’t even take into account the look of this vest. This is a mean looking vest which could easily have been mitigated by bright colours or some such alteration in the design.
For indoor use, I find the vest unexpectedly comfortable. I’m 5’7″, of small build, and my shoulders are 17″ across. The vest sits fine on me. Very broad shouldered, large neck people may find this bites in the neck area as the weight will certainly push down into soft skin areas especially with the friction that cardio work causes and, I need to wear a shirt underneath it even if it’s only a thin one otherwise the coarse fabric chafes my skin.
Each weight pack weighs 500g and the packs are evenly distributed around the body. The packs are very easy to remove and equally easy to re-insert. The vest is bulky though and I eagerly await the time these vests can be made smaller as looking around, they are all pretty much the same.
At 5’7″ I find the vest comfortable but I think the designers could do with making the vests a little less intimidating but that’s just my view.
You do feel as though you are strapping on a bulletproof vest when you put this on, but it does do its job effectively.
Using a vest such as this is an efficient way of adding weight and resistance to certain types of exercise – and because the additional weight is distributed evenly around your torso, it doesn’t put a counterproductive strain on any one area.
There are three fastening straps at the front of the vest and they are easy to adjust, so that it fits you properly.
It is also easy to remove the weighted bags from the various pockets if you wish to lighten the load.
You can pay a small version for some versions of weighted vests, so at the current price of 34.99 this one from PROIRON represents appealing value for a decent quality product.
