Accuracy, working very well and it is very helpful when you have plants at home, you know exactly if your plant needs water or no

This really works, I put it in the soil of my houseplants and it will tell me the moisture level! Highly easy to use and very affordable! If you own a lot of houseplants it’s so much easier to tell how thirsty they are from the meter level! So easy to use and I highly recommend these.

    Actually works!

This moisture meter has been an absolute revelation to me. I’m still learning about vegetable growing but it seems I’ve been over watering my plants and thereby causing myself all sorts of problems — not least, those nasty little flies.

I’m told that those flies lay their eggs in the top layer of the soil. They are everywhere usually but not this year! This year I’m using this wonderful soil moisture measurer and I’ve had none since starting with it.

Before, when the top of the soil felt a little dry, I’d water. Now I know better. The soil is more than moist at the roots which is what matters. My plants have never looked healthier.

Simply insert the probe, check the gauge and water if necessary. Simples!

The gauge does feel a little fragile so I would definitely take care of it, it will not stand for dropping. I keep my in a box and am careful with it. Been using it for nearly a month now and am thrilled with it.

I’m now saving on water and, I’ve none of those beastly black flies. Can’t say how impressed I am with this gauge. I’m using it on the house plants as well as my greenhouse plants.

At 7.99, the price at the time of writing, you can’t go wrong.

Exactly as described, currently using for indoor window plants to monitor how often they should be watered

I have several large pot plants and some seem to need watering more than others. It is important though not to water some plants too often it’s because their roots will rot and you will deprived of oxygen.

This moisture gauge is great. It’s excellent value at 7.99 and does the job really well. I have it in a camellia pot which is in a terracotta pot so does lose moisture quite quickly. The plant itself doesn’t really tell me when it needs moisture as it doesn’t droop it’s really important to have enough moisture or else next year’s flower buds won’t form properly.

Even though the gauge feels quite lightweight, it works really well. You do have to wait about 10 minutes for the door to stabilise and show you how much moisture is present in the soil. This isn’t a problem if you just leave it in one pot permanently as I am with this one.

I highly recommend this especially if you have large feature plants like mine!

Excellent guide to when your pots need watering.

This soil only moisture meter is very easy to use and read. On the box it states that the meter stake has to be in the ground for 10 mins before getting the soil moisture reading, but I’ve found that I only had to wait a few mins to get my reading. Once its been used wipe clean before using again. I’m a beginner gardener and this garden gadget is a game changer for me to stop me from under or over watering my vegetable and fruit plants. I used this soil moisture meter all the time in my garden and would highly recommend to any one that like’s gardening. Great price too.

Plants never seem to do well in our house and recently I discovered our large palm was actually sitting in a fair quantity of water that had drained through the compost. I ordered this moisture sensor as a way of checking the soil around our plants and hopefully take the guesswork out of our watering regime which clearly we haven’t got quite right!!!

When I put the probe in the large palm I found that the soil was still registering wet even after a couple of weeks without being watered, so this might explain the problems I have been having. Another smaller plant showed dry on the meter and then after watering showed moist and I was impressed to see that the reading seems to be fairly instant.

This moisture sensor has now given me the confidence I need to judge if our plants have the right amount of water – it requires no power, works quickly and the readings would appear to be accurate. This is a boon for any house plant carer, or keen gardener.

I have given this product a suitably moist 5 Star rating as it’s so simple to use just by inserting the probe to approximately root level and letting it settle for a while before reading the level on the dial.

The price of around 9.99 is a bargain as it is clearly very effective and, in my opinion, would definitely help keep plants healthy.

I do wish I'd acquired one of these years ago. I sincerely apologise to all the plants I've killed!

This Moisture meter has been working very well for my husbands plants

He is using it to help decide when to water his specialised plants as it is a very crucial part of their success.

He said it can be very deceptive as to whether there is sufficient moisture at any given depth, and this takes away the guesswork

It is well made and very easy to use

I have tested it on different moist levels and this seems to be quite accurate, it shows which pots are more or less dry/moist or even wet. It’s very easy to use and doesn’t cost a fortune. Worth having.

When I saw this moisture meter, I did not believe that this could really work and tell me moisture of soil. One time I also thought, may be I can figure it out myself on the soil moisture level. However, I was wrong.

The moisture meter exceeded my expectations. It said that you need to stick two third of the probe into the soil and wait for 10 minutes to get the result. I saw the results immediately as soon as I put this into the soil.

It’s easy to use and clean this moisture meter. The meter gave me right moisture level in the same garden at three different places as expected. Although, the meter readings are not on standard scale it helps you to maintain the right moisture level by taking the right action or at least to help figure out which measures are working well on your soil.

If you too have a big lawn like me and struggling to get it right, you should definitely get this.

    Quick and easy moisture mete

With most of my plants in pots it’s always hard to tell when they need watering so I was excited to try this moister meter out.
Though I was slightly disappointed by how cheaply made the top part of this felt (it’s made from very thin plastic) I was actually really happy with everything else about it.

It’s really simple to use, just poke it in the soil and it will tell you how dry or wet the soil currently is.
In larger pots you can gauge how much wetter the soil lower down is as well as it’s measured from the top of the detector which has quite a deep reach.

The meter is shown from 1-10 with 10 being the wettest. It’s perhaps not the most accurate but does give you a good idea on what needs watering, especially when after using it a while and getting used to what each number means in relation to each pot.

Overall I do wish this felt a little more robust but I can’t fault the practicality of it and for that I would recommend it. At 7.99 (it’s current price) you can’t really go wrong with this.

Feels a little cheap but works well.

It’s a simple tool to use. Unpack and straight into the soil. It give you a ready very quick. I like it and its worth having too.

So far it seems to work alright. Simply insert the probe into the soil, wait for the needle to stabilise and read the dial. Not all plants require the same level of soil moisture, so you’ll need to research your plants’ requirements. There is a printed list of various plants and their requirements on the box, it isn’t exhaustive though and I couldn’t find things like chillies or tomatoes.

On a side note, another reviewer shows the probe not reacting in a glass of water: they only work in soil!

WOW, what a useful device. It takes all the guesswork out of watering and checking plant pots for the right amount of moisture. IT gives a clear and easy to read analogue reading on a simple scale of dry, moist and wet.

The best thing about this little gem is that it needs no batteries, or if it does, they are non-changeable and long-lasting. I was able to check all my house plants and instantly get a reading of how dry the soil was at the root level

A MUST HAVE for all gardeners and checking your houseplants for moisture. It feels very flimsy, so my guess is not to drop it or force it into hard soils. I have a feeling this is going to be a very useful device and save many a houseplant from the droopy demise!

Overwatering or underwatering is quite a common reason that some plants die, so a meter like this is essential really.
There is one rule though, “DO NOT put this into a glass (or cup etc) of water”, only use it in soil, if you do that it will damage the probe and you WILL get inaccurate readings !

You can test the soil moisture at varying depths if you so wish, by say putting the tip, 2″, 4″, 6″ etc into the soil to get the reading, rather than just pushing it in as far as it will go.
It can be used in pots in the house and greenhouse or even in the soil in your garden.

On the back of the carboard box it comes in is a list of various plants and the ideal moisture readings for each of them, so don’t throw the box into the recycling bin as I nearly did… oops.

When you have finished using the probe make sure you wipe it clean of any soil that may be on it.
If at any time you find you don’t get a reading at all, or the reading just doesn’t make sense, then ‘gently’ and I mean gently clean it with some very, very fine sandpaper, and that should bring it back to life, but I have only had to do that twice in over 20 years of using these meters.

I do have two other makes of moisture meters, so I compared all three in 3 differnt plant pots, and I am pleased to say they all gave the exactly the same reading of 55%, so I think it is fairly safe to say they are all accurate as the soil I put it in ‘looked’ (plus many years of experience) neither wet nor dry.

I have used a moisture meter for many years on my potatoes and tomatoes, both grown in pots in the greenhouse, and both are very thirsty plants too (they are in the same family by the way) and it is amazing how you think they will be wet enough in overcast weather, only to find out they are quite dry.

I am very happy with this meter and I also think it is well made and a very reasonable price too but don’t forget about not throwing the box away… I might photocopy the chart and then laminate it then put it in the greenhouse, that way it will stay clean and dry and not deteriorate !

5 stars from me, and I hope this review has been helpful !

I was pleased to try this ‘Suplong Soil Moisture Meter, Hygrometer Moisture Sensor for Garden, Farm, Lawn Plants Indoor & Outdoor (silver)’. I am fine with outdoor plants, flowers and vegetables but have never been great with indoor plants – this should be a great aid to keeping them watered perfectly.

    1. There are instructions on the branded card box and on the back are hundreds of plants and their water preferences – great information.
    2. All you do is insert the probe into the pot, by the roots and wiggle a little. The pointer swings a little and settles, which you then read and can decide how much water it needs etc. My ‘string of hearts’ wasn’t mentioned on the box but is a sister plant to ‘string of pearls’ and that is in the green section and it read in the red section, so needed watering. However, my ‘Devil’s ivy’ read in the green section, where it should be, so did not need watering.
    3. I am really happy with this gadget and can see it will be easier to treat each individual plant as it likes to be treated and thus more will survive.
    4. The current price of 8.99 is fair, in my opinion, for this very helpful gadget.
    3.

    A very helpful gadget.

What a handy little gadget, without it I wouldn’t have known that my veg trugs needed watering, the plants looked perky but in fact the soil was rather dry.
I tried the moisture tester in different parts of the garden an found all parts to be either just right or too wet, as it rained earlier today I would have thought the veg trugs would have been ok. The moisture meter said the soil was too dry. I confirmed this by plunging a finger into the compost, it was indeed far too dry, plants watered now and saved from stress.
The moisture meter doesn’t feel cheap and obviously does the job
    Happy to give top marks.

    It works!

This seems efficient and robust. The read out is clear and the probe looks and feels sturdy.
It’s got a nice long probe and the response time of the sensor is good.
It loses one star because there was no no storage bag included to protect the device. In fact I think it’s the first time I’ve ever got a moisture metre that didn’t have a storage bag or a protective cover for the probe. I was so much in expectation of a protective cover for the probe I felt around inside the box thinking it must have fallen off but no there wasn’t one.
However other than this I’m very happy with the quality of the buid and the moisture meter’s performance.

Suplong Soil Moisture Meter, Hygrometer Moisture Sensor for Garden, Farm, Lawn Plants Indoor ……..

This soil moisture meter comes boxed with instructions printed down the side of the box and on the back of the box is a guide to watering different plant by coloured zone. The meter itself consists of a needle moving on a scale indicating dry, moist, and wet with corresponding colours of red, green, and blue. There is a spike with a contact on the bottom which is 17.5cm long which you just push into the soil. Once inserted it recommends waiting for the reading to ‘stabilise’ whereas on the advertisement it says 10 minutes. Make sure you remove from the soil and wipe down after use, don’t leave it in the soil.

I found it to work well although moving it from plant to plant and having to wait 10 minutes each can be a little tedious. I tried it on my lawn and there was a strange occurrence where the value would change if I touched the plastic top, so recommend not touching it whilst checking the reading. I tested it on my lawn which was quite damp and tried it on several potted plants and the ground soil in my greenhouse, getting different readings each time proving it does work.

No batteries required, handy little gadget but can be time consuming if you have a lot of plants and you want to check each one.

    Strange gadget that works

These soil humidity probe work like magic. Make sure don’t leave in the soil, don’t leave in the water. Remember to wipe it clean which can keep the prove accurate.
Just a tip: if you leave it in the soil for more than 10 minutes , the reading won’t be correct. It will say dry…but actually it is not dry . So just follow their instructions…
It is a scientific way to measure your soil humidity level .

    Works perfectly

This is a simple way to see if you need to water your plants.
It is incredibly easy to use, you simply push it into the solid around your plant and the needle instantly moves to tell you the moisture levels.

To test it works I tested a dry cactus, then watered it, waited a few minutes and tested again and lo and behold it had moved from dry to moist.

    Soil tester.

This a longer moisture meter than any that I have had before. The extra length is particularly useful for measuring the moisture level in the deep pot which houses my large indoor fern. Readings are not very precise, but it is good enough to know if the soil is dried out or waterlogged. The hygrometer is robust and very easy to read and clean. It says in the product title that the meter is “silver” but it is actually the brown metallic color that is shown in the product images. Competitively priced.
