i had the g1 version of this transformer a few years back and i’ve been trying to replace it and ever since i first saw this version i swore to mysekf i would get it, in truth i thought at first it wasn’t going to be as the one i had, boy was i wrong, this one is far bette
Hot rod/Rodimus prime is perfect, very nicely detailed, the face sculpt does make him look alittle grumpy but its not an issue. Love the extra accessories that come with it, to give the figure more flare when posed or played with. The transformation was slightly complicated at first due to smaller pieces needing to be moved etc.
The figure is brilliant and definitely recommend to any fan of transformers.
The figure is a great representation of Rodimus Price, with great articulation, a challenging but rewarding transformation, and great accessories. However, there are pieces that fall off too easily in the chest, plus some of the paint is prone to chipping off. All avoidable things, but every so often they can be troublesome. Even so, a great figure.
I paid 75.00 for this product that was sold as new, the figure is fine but the box was damaged in 3 places.
Huge toy, very complex transformations and a very happy grandso
Always preferred Rodimus Prime to Optimus. Rodimus kept things real, had actual doubts, and understood when pragmatism needed to supersede altruistic optimism. Also, frankly, Rodimus is just a better looking figure and this is, in my opinion, the best 1st party, transformable Rodimus Prime figure you can purchase without going into the Masterpiece pricing.
Unfortunately my figure was not shipped in a well protected fashion so, when USPS damaged the outer box, they also damaged the actual Transformers packaging… Which is upsetting… So beware the shipper and their subpar approach to their care with collectible toys. WFC Rodimus himself, though: fantastic and is, to my mind, the one everyone should own.
Hands down this is the best Rodimus Prime figure you’re going to get that isn’t MP scaling. As much as I love the figure and find the trailer fun, it’s better to find this on sale like I did. The trailer and other minor stuff like how the car sticks out far could be improved. The trailer having all the ports yet hard to properly store everything. I still don’t feel it’s worth the $80 but otherwise is a great figure, an update to the Studio Series 86 Hot Rod, which is pretty fitting.
Bought to display, really nice version of hotrod, only gripe is the trailer doesn’t stick together very well, the actual car/transformer is great and transforms really well!
Okay, so the figure looks great and all but there was a bit of a issue that I think may involve delivery… It came in with a part of the yellow wing on the right side broken off. Fortunately, with the help of some super glue this was an easy fix in like two minutes. But I suspect this happened because the toy was delivered as just the box with some wrapping paper around it. Knowing how delivery companies are, I think it’d be safe to say it was treated a bit roughly… Alternatively it could have just been random bad luck while Hasbro was putting it in the box since admittedly the box did come in good shape. In the end I’m not upset since it was a quick fix and could easily have been something worse, but I am disappointed overall since it’s something I need to try to ignore now… Not sure if I can say I got my money’s worth either because of this so keep that in mind if you’re thinking of buying this figure from here.
Besides that, the figure itself is great. I think the process of Transforming Rodimus is a bit too complicated for my liking but he looks great in both robot and vehicle mode. The accessories are great, I especially love the sword and the gunfire effects are gonna look great once I get Menasor and set it up to have Rodimus firing at Menasor from the mounted turret that came with his trailer.
The MSRP for this figure is a whopping $90 USD (Yikes!), but I was lucky enough to nab him for around $40. There was no way I was ever going to buy him at retail price, but I saw him for OVER 50% off and I couldn’t resist. And…wow. Just WOW. This is THE Rodimus Prime. Studio Series Hot Rod already set a high bar, but this figure just takes it to the next level.
So let’s talk about the main figure. The vehicle mode is a very faithful replica of classic Hot Rod/Rodimus and looks great. The robot mode, however, is where most of the magic lies. He just looks EXACTLY like Rodimus Prime should. His face is incredibly accurate, the graphics on his torso are very sharp, and his overall shape is great. He also has a compartment in his chest for the Matrix. The joints on my figure are also nice and tight, and his articulation is probably about as much as you could want. The weapons look decent as well.
As for the trailer, holy cow is this thing huge and versatile. There is a ton of space to store accessories, the trailer can hold small Deluxe and Core Class figures (when empty), it can fold out into a sort of “weapon platform,” and includes this huge transformable heavy gun accessory that can be used by almost any figure. The overall construction is super solid as well. As with all Commander Class toys, you also get a ton of rubbery “effect” pieces that can be applied to the robot, vehicle, and accessories, and they can be used with many other figures. There are so many little different things you can do with the stuff included here!
My overall impressions are that the figure is superb. The only drawbacks are that the head articulation is a bit limited and the wheels are left unpainted. Do I think this is worth $90 though? Um…no. Not at all. I still think these Commander figures in general should be maybe $70 max. If you’re a diehard Rodimus fan or have someone in your life who is, I still think this is a must-have for you.
This has so far been the most expensive Transformers figure I have ever purchased and I am glad I did. Like all figures however they are not perfect but close. By far the most complicated figure in my collection and looking at the instructions and YouTube video simultaneously on how to transform him was still a nightmare. I must say his robot mode is just spectacular as is his car mode. A beautiful display piece but just be aware he is difficult to transform and definitely takes practice. Some of the pegs will not fit at first as I had trouble with his backpack portion but eventually got it to fit although one of the pieces around his left calf will not properly secure. Only other issue I had was with the trailer as the top two halves won’t securely snap together. Despite these Minor issues the toy is amazing but expensive.
Other then the price, a really decent figure of Rodimus, best so fa
A complex transformation, but we’ll worth it. Great accessories. The trailer as a weapons platform is great. Would definitely suggest this for any G1 fa
The title seems like hyperbole, but I genuinely love this figure.
Rodimus has been my favourite G1 transformer since I was first introduced to him. I was always jealous of people who had managed to get the original figure and was disappointed he was never presented in upgrade format.
I saw Combiner Wards and wanted to cry such a great character wasted on such a terrible figure.
When I first saw this figure, I thought there were so many issues with it; it doesn’t really look like the movie, TV, or comics versions I thought, the spoiler should come further forward, the cabin should go further in, what is that gross car mode?
Then I got the figure.
I have not been able to take my hands off it for the past month I have had him his transformation is perfection. The vehicle mode, once something I looked at with disdain, now feels and looks like a kick arse all-terrain muscle car used for hazardous terrain.
The alt-mode feels like how a Hot Rod Prime should feel, bigger, stronger, and super poseable.
This figure is fun; it looks, feels, and plays beautifully.
And I love him.
You will too if you buy it.
Buono l’imballaggio.
So, I’ve come to expect modern toys from Hasbro to be imperfect. Overall, this is an expensive, but well put together toy save some nitpicks. I do think this is the best Rodimus Prime toy we’ve gotten and while the long cab does bother me a little, the robot mode of this toy is amazing! Now, if you’re keen to do it, there are some fixes to the trailer that are pretty easy to do. You can paint the rims silver/chrome (c’mon Hasbro…) and I found that an easy fix for the gap in the pipes is a LEGO axel with end cap wrapped in aluminum tape so as to soften the cross shape. I didn’t have a problem with the trailer closing like a lot of people but there’s a fix online for that as well. I was on the fence about this toy but in the end, I’m glad I purchased it.
Well, as one of the few Transformers fans who has liked Rodimus Prime since 1986 and has tried to get any Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime figure that I can get my hands on–from Hasbro and Takara Tomy, this is one of the better versions of RODIMUS PRIME that has come out in recent years. My detraction from making this a 5-star figure is the slight issue many of these figures have with snaps on the trailer (many won’t perfectly close) and I still dislike that we have to have a Hot Rod version car to snap into the trailer……….which I think makes the camper mode look awkward. Vehicularly speaking, the 1986 G1 Rodimus Prime still has a superior form. I feel this figure would have been better if they had left the Hot Rod focus out of the figure–we would have a taller figure more worthy of a “leader” character and a vehicle form that wasn’t two separate vehicles smashed together.
Despite all this–it’s a very good figure and is far better than the awkward-looking Power of the Primes Rodimus Prime figure. The number of accessories (and the trailer’s “battle platform mode”) is one of the things that shoots this into the Commander Class category. It’s one of the more complex transforming figures (34-ish steps!) for it’s smaller size. There are a lot of fold in, rather than snap off, pieces–and it has a paint job on the plastic to make it look smooth and shiny, as opposed to merely being colored plastic.
