I was a little concerned about purchasing a chainsaw. I had a set of old wooden ladders that I needed to cut down to reasonable size for disposal. Hand saw would do it, but take time. My small electric saw, might have managed it at a push but it wouldn’t have been easy. Overall I knew I needed something with a little bit more power. So I took the plunge and purchased this chainsaw, and I am very glad that I did.

Setup was easy, just followed the instructions. Knew it was imperative that the chain be fitted the right way around. So took my time making sure that was right. Chainsaw needs oil, I was a little surprised it didn’t come with any. But I appreciate not having it will keep the costs down. So I had already ordered some basic chainsaw oil 1ltr. So added that without issue.

Took all the relevant safety precautions, mask, googles, gloves etc. Then tried it out. This is an old saying, but it is so true … ‘it was like a hot knife through butter’. I was quite amazed. Having never used one before and being apprehensive, it worked like a dream. Cut through the old ladders instantly. Took me five minutes to get them to a size ready for disposal. I was impressed. Safety features seem good. Item feels solid in make.

This isn’t something I will use on a regular basis. But I think it is a good tool to have available. Deliberately picked a powered/corded model, to just keep things simple. Already had a Vonhaus strimmer which I liked, so not knowing any better I stuck to that brand. Tends to be how I kind of operate, bit of brand loyalty until I have a reason not to be loyal. And the strimmer has been working well over the past months.

All in all great purchase, very pleased. But remember, you need to buy Chainsaw Oil as well. So make sure you take that into consideration.
