HAVEN’T USED THIS YET BUT HAVE THE LONG HANDLED ONE AND IT IS AWESOME. MAKES GARDENING AND WEEDING GO MUCH FASTER.
The reach was awesome and this is just what I needed. Still won’t cut old thick weeds but the majority of weeds are handled.
This works very well for weeding way better than using a normal garden hoe. Doesn’t take much effort either.
This tool works best on smaller weeds and on softer ground. When I tried using it on “baked clay”, it didn’t do much until I could loosen up the soil a bit. On softer ground, it tends to pull up some of the roots, as well. On harder ground, it cuts the stems and leaves the roots behind.
I garden a whole ton ! This little tool works wonders for eating up the grass, weeds, etc. Granted you still have to really scratch at the ground, but the metal gets right under the roots ! I am very happy !!
I have the large, long handled action hoe, but there were times I needed something smaller. This is perfect!
Love this, my son in law frequently, “barrows” it also.
I like having the kids use real tools and this one is super functional for shallow weeds in our wood chipped garden.
Easy to use when there is a lot of loose dirt around the weeds, but if the beds are shallow or dirt is more compact, is more difficult to achieve the wanted goal.
We bought a full sized oscillating hoe, which is amazing at getting the weeds out of our clay soil. However, we have raised beds in some areas where this hoe is awkward to handle. Hence the purchase of this smaller version, which just like the other hoe is amazing. It is a solid little tool and does a very quick and thorough job of eliminating the weeds. If you haven’t got this tool, get it, you won’t be disappointed!
I love this little hoe!! The handle is easy to grip, it is light and sturdy and most of all it gets the job done!!
Sturdy and does what’s expected. I hope to get a one with a longer pole soon but you can’t beat this one for the price.
I love this mini version. I am usually trying to get weeds out of a section of my garden that is under benches and low palms. This makes it easier to reach those areas while deadheading and pulling weeds in the rows. Very good product! Sturdy and good price!
Could have done with one of these years ago. It’s ideal for our raised beds which are fenced in 2 feet high to keep out cats, rabbits and deer. I can reach over and weed with this hoe where a hoe with a long handle gets in the way. I find it s sharp enough, haven’t found it necessary to sharpen it.
Works well in loose soil. OK in heavy clay soil. Allows me to get closed to vegetables without damaging them.
I have a similar one full size but wanted one with a shorter handle to get into tighter spaces so I would have more control over it. This fits the need!
Oh my word if you don’t have one of these get one right now! I LOVE it! Easiest way to weed ever. I want to buy one for every friend who gardens!
If you have weeds growing in your garden you need this tool. Makes weeding a breeze!
Great weed remover. I added a 4 foot wooden dowel to be able to use it standing up. I also filed the pull-cutting edge to razor sharpness. Weeds don’t stand a chance now.
I already have two of these and felt it would be nice for another family member. So pleased they reacted the way as I had.
Won’t wear out your hands and back pulling weeds. Able to complete the task quickly and efficiently!! Takes the weed at the root. My only regret is not getting the longer handle.
This tool removes weeds easily and also loosens the soil nicely. I can weed a bed in more than half the time vs hand pulling.
I used this product in my veg garden for getting rid of weeds in small areas and it works well. Might not get the roots, but gets rid of surface weeds.
Easy to use.
I seen this thought heck give it a try. Best investment ever! Works great for around my flowers and in hard to reach areas that you may not want to put your hands pulling weeds. Now going to get the longer stand up one for further reaching in beds .
This works better than I expected. Saves me a lot of time in the garden.
Wow. Works both ways – push and pull. Use corners for tough weeds/grass. Handle could/should be thicker. Clears large areas of weeds quickly. Very useful. Have not tried it in mulch yet.
It works fine so long as you sharpen it before hand. Both sides.
I have raised beds with soft soil and a few rocks so it’s fine in terms of sturdiness but it’s still wiggly. The grip slides off. I think it’s perfect for a raised bed like mine but if you have more compact soil I wouldn’t get it. I like the length the best it’s perfect for raised beds.
This is the best tool in gardening arsenal!
It quickly and easily removes weeds and tills the soil in one motion.
Seriously a wonderful product!
This is an amazing tool for the garden.
I use it on my raised beds and also to hoe in between my garlic and onions.
Cuts through weeds like butter.
Highly recommend
I bought one & it works so well I bought another so we can both use them!
They work so great & help dig out roots of weeds & it saves many hours in your life!
This is a great addition to every gardening kit.
Very comfortable grip and easy to use in small tighter areas of the garden. Has performed far better than I expected and would highly recommend.
A lot easier than expected and super satisfied with the product. You won’t regret it!
This mini action hoe for weeding is 14” long. It has a durable medal rod and cushioned grip. It’s made from high quality grade steel. The oscillating hoe uses a push pull motion to cut weeds and shallow roots. Easy for anyone to use no need to install. The only downside is you have to constantly bend over to use hoe.
Works great to get finer weeds up. It’s the perfect handheld size (fits in my garden bag) and felt very sturdy while I was using it.
I’m going through my spring cleanup so much faster since I got this baby hula hoe. Sturdy too! I’ve had three different passersby stop and ask me where I found it. Good price too.
Cuts through the dirt like butter and digs up weeds in a flash. Love this tool!!!
Bought this for working my raised beds, and it works so great!! Honestly better than almost all my other hand tools!! Highly recommend.
I am very happy with this unique hoe. I need something to help me clear rocks in an area of yard. This mini hoe does the trick. It is a sturdy, well-made hoe. I do wish it had a longer, retractable handle. I like the comfort grip that keeps me from getting blisters and from my hand slipping. It is an easy to use hoe. It is a good width for working in flower beds. The hoe does a wonderful job at eliminating weeds as well. This makes weeding a breeze. I am very pleased with this handy garden tool.
I got this to attack grass seedlings that seem to blow into some of my garden beds on occasion. For that purpose, it works about as expected to be able to get in between plants and lightly attack the very top soil. It quickly uproots/cuts the fuzz and I pick out what I can. Repeated treatments does the trick.
All steel construction with a comfortable rubber grip, it’s a very fair quality garden tool that I believe will serve me well for years to come.
I have used a large hula hoe for years and I’ve always wanted a small one thank goodness someone finally made one works really good
I use a full-size action hoe for the majority of my sizable garden, but this little guy is perfect for those areas that are hard to reach with the full-size hoe or are easier to access while sitting down. We have a huge problem with invasive wire grass and this small hoe is absolutely perfect for working under our picket fence, which is impossible to do with the larger hoe. I also like to use it at the base of my rose bushes, where the larger hoe gets hung up in the branches. I think the blade is a bit weak and is probably the worst part of this tool’s design, but this also isn’t meant to be a heavy duty tool like a full-size action hoe. As long as you understand the limits of this little hoe, it’s an invaluable tool for garden maintenance and at $16.50, the price is right!
This is a great deal, and a super alternative to just pulling weeds by hand.
In particular, I have THISTLES that grow as weeds in one of my mulch beds and they cut through even the thickest of gloves to prick me if I try to pull by hand. This is saving me immensely to just rake up the mulch with this every now and then to deter the growth of any emerging weeds through that mulch before those plants can mature (especially into thicker and thornier weeds).
It’s annoying that it’s more of a hand tool size, so you still have to bend over to use it, but it stores easily and the price adequately reflect that it’s a hand tool and not a long, rake-length tool.
The tool is metal and sturdy.
The handle has cushions with grooves for fingers.
It’s comfy to hold and use on the hand due to the cushioned and grooved hand grip part.
Overall I’d highly recommend it.
The only reason I selected this mini-hoe for review is because I’ve nearly worn out my other one. I’ve used it a LOT because it does such a great job of getting weeds loosened up and ready to toss out of my raised garden beds. Over a winter the beds can become fully covered in various weeds and the hoe makes getting them all out easy and fast. All I do is run the hoe underneath the soil a little ways and the roots of the weeds are detached and ready for pulling, shaking off the dirt and tossing into the weed bucket. It will disturb worms and I usually have over a hundred worms/bed that I have to gently re-home but the hoe doesn’t actually seem to damage them. Unless you like to laboriously pull weeds out by hand then don’t buy this, but if you want it done quick and easy then this is a great tool. It seems to be very well constructed and should last basically forever if you take care of it. This one is all metal while my other one has a wooden shaft.
We have a raised-bed veggie garden and orchard. I have a long-handle version of this that you use like a hoe while standing. However, when doing light weeding around veggies and the base of fruit trees, it’s helpful to have a shorter version like this.
You work it where the weeds are, under the soil about half an inch, and pull it back and forth until the weed roots are severed. The edges of the cutter aren’t that sharp, but they still work to cut off those pesky weeds! I may actually sharpen the edges with a file just to make the job easier.
It’s a useful tool, recommended.
This really made pulling weeds a more enjoyable experience! We used this to weed a large bed with a mixture of deep grass and ground cover. We began this job by hand, which went very slowly, so when we pulled out this weeder, we could really see what a difference using this tool made! The handle is comfortable and allows a good grip. The only thing we wished was that it had a long handle so we could weed standing up! This is a great tool for raised beds! Good choice.
The Walensee Mini Action Hoe for Weeding is working out just fine.
It shipped well with minimal packaging. It emitted no strange odors or chemical-like smells.
It is true in size at 17 inches in length and at its widest 3.9 inches. It features a grip material at the top so you can handle it without it slipping. The blades aren’t sharp so you don’t have to be incredibly careful with it.
I found this tool easy to handle. It doesn’t slip from my grip at all when using it with or without gloves. I like the size as it doesn’t take up much space with my garden tools. The width is favorable as I can work around plants and flowers while still exercising some caution. It works best in my opinion for well-tended gardens and flowerbeds that would mainly only have shallow-rooted weeds instead of deeper ones where the weeds would just keep coming back again and again.
This will need to be tightened every few uses or so as it can become a bit lose after all the back and forth.
Overall, it’s not a bad tool. It makes the job of weeding easier on my hands and a quicker process.
I like this tool, I really do and it does pull up the grass an weeds quite well. I have had to tighten the screws on the blade as the blad wobbles after a few uses.
I understand that most people will use this less rigorously than I am using it as I am trying to remove turfgrass to make a wildflower meadow lawn. Turfgrass is much stronger than typical weekding so I am giving this tool a big test and its passing.
It is nice to have this style tool in my arsenal of weeding tools.
Get it but just have a screwdriver handy if your using it to remove sod. There are only two screws so its not a big chore yet just keep a screwdriver handy.
This is great if you have weeds growing in sandy loose soil or gravel or mulch. I have a long-handled scuffle hoe but I like this one for my raised beds. Scuffle hoes do not have sharp edges (and if they did they would dull quickly). They work by cutting tender roots just under the soil. They are not useful for large weeds or weeds with developed tap roots – they are great for getting weeds when they first appear.
