This camera is not too bad. Ive never had a camera with a fixed 3.6mm lens allows more view but, of course you need more light to see details. The detect and shoot is pretty rapid and barely any lag. Ui could use an upgrade. The night vision with good fast wifi and some ambient light works well. I would give the audio 8/10
Picture quality it great , easy to set up great product and a great price
Good picture quality even at night – But why does it have to show two red LED on the 4mp version when the 2mp one doesn’t! Footage is very good, the 2mp version of the same camera is also good, but the 4mp one has this major let down which makes it near useless for any sort of security monitoring, as the red led allows anyone to see it in the dark and disable it.
The software is also quite annoying to retrieve footage from – its easier to pull the sd card out of the camera to copy it than using the capture feature. I’d suspect this is deliberate to push people towards using their cloud subscription service, but this isn’t a viable option with low upload speed (sub 1Mbit for example in this case).
Updated home cctv to this one, and it’s that good I’ve bought more to replace all of my other ones.
Good picture quality both day and night but the Wi-Fi is poor, but that just may be my brick house. It’s not the easiest system to work out Eufy is much better coming from a non tech person. I seem to be able to delete the pictures but for some reason the SD card keeps filling up. Still don’t know how it doesn’t delete pictures from the SD card.
Works as it should and the software is very user friendly. Would highly recommend
I say surprisingly because of the price. Great quality. Really impressed so far. Wasn’t paying too much attention when I bought it so was pleasantly surprised to find out it had alarm as well as the 2 way speaker/mic.
Finally a Wifi 6 camera that’s 4k! it really is crystal clear through day and night, the IR lights light up a nice area and the addition of a spot light is really cool, something you don’t usually see, the motion detection is really quick and it notifies you instantly which is really handy i cant wait to purchase a few more of these for a full home setup! highly recommend!
Happy with how the camera is working! Good price , great little camera!!
Easy to install if you link to your network via ethernet cable. Cut Ethernet cable off before installing in situ. Effective in use via sd card. Active area works well as does notifications. Has a tendency to focus too closely on near items at the expense of those in the distance. Birds passing by can trigger detection system.
Here we have a 4K camera that has every feature you could want including motion detection and night vision, plus connectivity and stylish packaging. Everything about it seems to me to work perfectly. It can detect me or our cat coming into its view and start recording, it can upload recorded stuff or live the control app and access utilities for it all work great – there’s nothing I can fault it on. Even the documentation is good!
4K Outdoor Security Camera 2.4GHz/5GHz Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Camera, IP66 Weatherproof Surveillance CCTV IP Camera with AI Human/Car/Pet Motion Detection, Color Night Vision, 2-Way Audio, Siren, Spotlight.
For someone who doesn’t like Instructions it wasn’t so simply to set up but wasn’t too hard either.
The Imou Knight Outdoor Security WiFi Camera records comings and goings in crystal-clear 4K/8MP resolution. The high quality sensor and IR lights enhance night vision up to 30m/98ft. Big wide-angle vision, more stable connection and clear real-time video surveillance provide your home with all-day protection.
Works with alexa
I have been using it for over a month. No problem at all. The app works great too.
Decent addition to the looc cameras we already had. Needs recharge more often than you think. Not watertight!
The camera is amazing, pictures are clear during the night as they are during the day. Only downside is that the motion sensors pick up vehicles driving past, cats, birds and insects despite it saying human detection! But other than that it’s been brilliant and has given me peace of mind so I’m able to sleep that bit better now.
Was not expecting much when i bought these but reviews were good. I can say after getting them set up and easy by the way they are amazing, they pick every movement up and pings straight to my phone. Subscription required for some perks but only 2.29 per cam cheap for what you get. If your looking for some cctv this will do the job 5
poor night vision especially on a very dark night! Start using this in the summertime, is ok at around 9 pm but, it poor vision when in the very dark midnight.
I’ve had a few people stealing from my garden so thought I’d set up a camera, not caught anyone yet but if they come back this will surely see them!
It’s very well made and super easy to set up, highly recommend!
Easy to set up once you have the App, our 5th Imou camera, genuine manufacturer interest with alerts to warn of others attempts to log in (2nd ipad in this instance). Also works on own hotspot so wi fi is not allways needed. As good as the more expensive one available. Great picture
An average wireless camera; i’ve got this camera to use at the back of the house as already have one at the front it was easy to install as it’s a wireless security camera and the battery life is really good. Fully rechargeable so you would want to place somewhere you can easily reach when you need to take it off to recharge. This camera only records when the motion is detected so it’s not the best as you can easily miss something As if a motion is detected straight after it doesn’t start recording soon as possible.
It’s Okay for the moment however I would be considering upgrading to a better camera that records and saves all footage for the day.
Very happy with product, functionally and quality of build- will recommend to family and friends, much thanks
There’s a lot to like about this camera vs. the many others I’ve tried. I’m currently using Netatmo Presence, Arlo Pro 4 and G-Homa cameras. This one offers:
* Image quality day and night that’s at least comparable to any of my other cameras
* Colour night vision
* Micro-SD local storage — subscription available for cloud storage but not essential
* Works with 5GHz as well as 2.4GHz networks, and supports Wi-Fi 6
* Two-way talk
* Spotlight (useful but perhaps less so than a floodlight)
* Alarm
As with Arlo, you have to pay for a subscription to get person/car/animal identification. The Q&A on this in the listing is misleading — best ignore it. Netatmo Presence (not Arlo) includes it as standard and, like the Imou, it can record to a built-in micro-SD card. The Presence can also record to a NAS drive or Dropbox. It doesn’t have a speaker though.
Of course, if you need battery operation, this is a non-starter. With a mains-powered camera like this, however, you have the obvious advantage of not needing to keep a battery charged. That means you can site it out of reach. More importantly, perhaps, mains camera usually record constantly. Battery cameras don’t, to preserve the battery; the consequence is that you lose a second or two of the start of detected motion.
The Imou Life app is good, or certainly better than many. Pairing with the camera is straightforward. The UI could be better but it’s perfectly usable and, so far, does all I need.
I’m still comparing the camera and app against my existing ones, but results to date are pleasing. It’s quite expensive, currently 175. That’s reasonable, vs. Netatmo, Arlo and other established brands, but. I don’t like having to pay for a subscription to get person/car/animal id.
Cannot say enough good things about this camera the picture quality is perfect even on night vision and it covers my large front garden my neighbours home and most of the street too.
It picks up everything including sound which is a bonus and is very easy to set up.
I especially like the fact it will send notifications to your phone whenever motion is detected so I can view whats happening I real time.
For the price it’s fantastic value i don’t think you could find better.
I’ve recommended it to all my family and friends it’s the best buy I’ve made this year.
Love this camera is everything there what I wanted for , 2.4GHz/5GHz Dual-Band WiFi & Connection with Wi-Fi 6, 4K UHD & 30m Smart Color Night Vision, this is a security camera +light +alarm that you can adjust as it fits you
This is an excellent quality camera the picture in 4K is fantastic but 1080p is nearly the same, it has 480 setting that is rubbish not sure why it’s got this with 4K and 1080p settings. This has a power plug and the bracket for fixing it up all in the box along with the QR code to scan for the app. You have to sign up first with email and password and you need to subscribe monthly if you use the cloud. You can use an SD card in the back of the camera with a waterproof seal over that. It only has Power and Ethernet cable not like my CCTV set up that’s power and video cable but can be used WiFi that’s how I’ve tested it out on my phone. A little expensive over 170 but it’s excellent quality as I say so I would definitely recommend it.
I was really tentative about buying these cameras as I thought the set up would be difficult (technology not my strong point). However, the App was surprisingly easy to use, and I was delighted with the camera I bought first as a trial. I went on to buy 3 more, used to look into barns for signs of lambing, so only used for viewing in real time (motion sensors turned off). Vision is really good, and so much better to look at the cameras from bed during the night to check all ok rather than my previous 25 years of getting up and trotting across the yeard in dressing gown and wellies (usually through rain). It also meant I could get on with other things while watching for lambs on my iPhone, iPad or laptop. Remarkable value for money (and long overdue for me). The only problem I had was trying to use the cameras on my laptop (Windows 10), because I had forgotten the password for the original set up on my iPhone. I emailed the company via the customer support for help on the App but had no reply. I managed on my own in the end- the ‘forgot password’ page on laptop didn’t load correctly so couldn’t use it- but copied and pasted onto my iPad and was able to follow the instructions and sort. All good!
This Wireless Security Camera Outdoor 4MP 2.5K, 2.4G/5GHz Dual-Band WiFi Rechargeable Battery Powered Camera with 180-Day Life/32G SD Card/30m Color Night Vision/PIR AI Human Detection/2-way Audio/IP65 is great! Nice quality! easy to use! easy to install! Nice night vision! Picture quality is good! Good value for money
Great little camera during daytime but 147 motion detections at night, including raindrops, flies, headlights passing by. And the only way to get past that is to turn off notifications or pay a subscription fee to enable AI recognitio
Very happy with this system and it has far more positives than negatives.
Positives first
It’s easy to install and set up — it comes with fixings supplied and a template for drilling accurately. It can be mounted onto any internal or external surface including brick, plasterboard, wood and concrete.
Two options for Internet connection — it can either be wired in directly using an ethernet cable (not supplied), or it can connect wirelessly to your home router (I cut off the ethernet port section of the cable as I only wanted to use the wireless).
Picture quality is superbno more grainy CCTV footage! High-res 1080p full colour footage by day, and very good quality infrared by night. You can view the live feed directly via the supporting app on your smartphone, which works perfectly on both Android and iOS.
There’s two storage options for recorded footage — you can either pay monthly for cloud storage or you can use a micro SD card which fits into the camera itself (not supplied) and store the footage locally.
You can watch back all footage that’s stored on the SD card on the app on your smartphone (you don’t need to remove the card from the camera to watch the recordings).
The SD card DOES record and store 24/7 footage permanently (contrary to what some other reviews say) if you set it to do so. How much is stored depends on the capacity of your SD card.
I use a 256 GB micro SD card which has the capacity to store about three weeks’ worth of 24/7 HD footage. When the memory card reaches maximum capacity, it automatically overwrites the oldest footage.
You can use the Event History Timeline feature in the app to watch back recorded footage (detected motion is clearly marked on the timeline as a separate colour).
Every human/motion detection alert gives a snapshot of the scene with the notification on your phone so you don’t always have to watch the recorded footage back.
The app is very easy to use and has lots of customisable features that you can make to the camera directly from the app.
Negatives
The human detection feature is a bit hit-and-miss. It detects correctly in the daylight, but at night passing car headlights set off the human detection alert.
It appears worse when it’s in night vision mode. Tiny insects and fog also register as humans when in night vision mode and the alert goes off constantly in the night.
Recorded human detection footage isn’t immediately available to watch — it takes a couple of minutes for it to sync to the app.
Overall though, a very good home security system and excellent value for money!
Set up was easy. Fixing camera a doddle. Quick set up book quite good. Could do with a manual explaining all the options on the camera, this the only bugbear.
This mini ultra compact CCTV camera is amaizing and works extremely well. I’ve mounted this at the front of the house in a small weatherproof box with a small cutout for the lense with absolutely no issues. The unit is connected to a 20000Mah power bank which has a 10W mini solar panel attached which keeps the powerbank topped up during the day. This is extremely power efficient and hardly pulls much current during the day. Picture quality is outstanding and the app installed fine with no problems. This camera has a built in mic so you can remotely talk to a delivery driver if you are expecting a package and are out during the day as the app alerts you to any detected movement. The audio is very sharp and clear both ways and you could also happily use this as a baby moneter if you so wish. The package came with a 32GB SD card which is easy to fit and perfect to capture audio and video. The unit is charged and powered via micro USB so absolutely no issues there. The only slight negative point is you need a constant WIFI connection to be able to connect to the app which won’t be an issue for 99% of people but as we use 4G for internet access I may have to buy another mini 4G router which will keep this connected but apart from that it is amaizing for the price and very easy to hide away so whats not to like? highly recommended.
This is a review for Wireless Security Camera Outdoor 4MP 2.5K, 2.4G/5GHz Dual-Band WiFi Rechargeable Battery, it was 103 at the time of review.
Regarding the installation, the manual says you can scan the QR code to start with but unluckily it didn’t work for me. I downloaded it’s own app which is required, registered an account, follow the setup steps and works fine. While you have the app setup, you should also use the little cable provided to make sure the battery is fully charged first. Once both are in place, the setup didn’t take that long and quite smooth actually.
Good thing about this camera:
– wireless
– really wide angles, can capture good enough to see areas to safeguard my security
– good night vision support
– support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. My home is 2.4GHz right now but it makes me feel good that I don’t have to abandon this camera if I’ve decided to upgrade my network to 5GHz
– It says the battery life is 180 days, I am still testing if it’s true as I only recently have it setup. So far the battery life seems going ok. I’ve previous experience some batteries of security doorbell did drop very quickly or suddenly go offline if it’s too cold outside, this one seems working fine so far with a day or two was below 0C outdoor at night. I will report it more when I tested it long enough
– it works with Alexa which is what we use at home and I can control it via voice
– the detection is quite sensitive, you can set to motion detection only then it can screen out the dogs and cats passing by your detection area.
– two way voice interaction which is another good thing.
Some area which is no so good:
– it support SD card, comes with 32GB, you can change to larger storage size but if you need larger storage, you will need to choose their cloud service which is chargeable after trial period.
– life will be easier if the QR code installation can work properly
Easy setup but instructions are not 100% clear, password for connecting to camera is not listed anywhere (it’s the “safety code” on camera)
video quality is good being 4mp but I found the AI human motion detection doesn’t seem to work as designed and detects any movement as seen in the video, received an alert for moving vehicle even though I had AI human detection turned on.
Overall good quality with 256Gb SD card storage a plus (since most support 128gb at this price), would’ve been even better with two way audio & spotlight /alarm for deterrence but this can be found on other Imou models.
This camera and software is a good all rounder. I have no major issues with it really. Perhaps it’s my understanding of the quirks of technology. If you want a good no major thrills camera get it. As it does function well at the basics, However my experience so far…..
I’ve already had to reset it as it refused to reconnect to the software and network. Thankfully I was able to reach the reset button which was the last step after all else fails. However in general it is good and the image quality is also good. At night I actually found switching the flood light on detection and smart night vision off for plain old good infrared as the light exposure in my opinion reduced the coverage and detail in my situations, so be prepared to tinker around a little. I also have a bug bear with the “Human Detected” motion sensor. It is exactly that “motion” it is NOT anything close to AI or with differentiation of a human as it triggers with the weather such as rain or snow for example. I find I have to mute notification during bad weather as it triggers all the time and that is with the settings reduced. Even as I’m writing this. I just use record and overwrite constantly either way and the detection as an added step for when it does work as intended. So others that say it only records when detection occurs is not true.
I do not use the cloud service, it does everything you need if you use an SD card. It simply overwrites in time as you would with a standard set up. I’m not sure if there is any other value points with cloud other than storage.
Finally, be careful when setting up and drilling using the template. I’d marry up the device to the direction you need as the bracket needs to be set up with the groove and drill holes to allow you to move up and down, left and right. If you put the screw holes in with just the template, you may find limitation in the desired angle. The central hole is what it is and you need it to get the cables through. Unless you do a surface job.
Bit long, but I hope this helps.
(The attached screenshot shows an example of the timeline and recording. The amber lines are where detections have occurred).
For the price this kit is excellent, however. the instructions are just pants, so much so the maker (& also seller) sends you an email with top tips to “easily” set it up which makes about as much sense as the supplied instruction booklet; after some re-reading & head scratching I did figure it out and it then worked well.
The camera has a really clear full colour HD picture with a good field of view, the night vision is equally good with a clear night time black & white image even in total darkness; it also comes with sound recording which was surprising for the price. The apps for smart phone and PC are quite good, however, they really push the paid cloud storage plan, which is irritating. The functionality of the software is generally good but there should be a continual record function rather than just record when motion is detected or when you push the record button which is then stopped if you access any other part of the app or it goes into sleep mode which it does quite often, which appears to be a sales device for cloud storage subscription. The other related issue is the motion sensor sensitivity which can be problematic with multiple activation due to wind movement of trees and plants etc; you can adjust the sensitivity level and you need some trial and error to get this right. The connectivity range of the WiFi is impressive as I have the camera at the bottom of my garden without any drop out.
All in all this is a very good value camera and with a little tweaking of the functionality could be really unbeatable, hence the 4 stars rather than 5; having said that and despite the issues previously mentioned, I would still recommend this camera as a good value option with the functionality of much more expensive models.
UPDATE:
After contacting the maker/seller you can indeed do both motion activated recording and 24/7 continuous recording, however, again poor instructions cloud the issue.
I bought this camera because I wanted a ‘ring’ brand video doorbell, but having a friend who has one I was worried I might suffer the same problems he has of connectivity issues. As someone who works in IT I recognised that a WiFi antenna can make all the difference, and knowing that IMOU are owned by ‘Dahua Tech’ who make truly exceptional products I thought this would be right for me. I wasn’t wrong.
The setup was exceptionally fast. I just downloaded the free App to my iPhone from the App Store, scanned a couple of barcodes, inputted my WiFi passcode (into the App on my iPhone), let the devices squeal at each other, and Bob was my uncle.
I plumped for a floor level installation, behind a front garden wall. Three screws and plugs were supplied, and I already had a power point waiting outside the front of the house (AAA batteries could also be used). The power cable is VERY long (3 meters, I think) and so I just wrapped up the excess. See picture 4. You might be able to make out the white device behind the wall, amongst the pebbles, top left of picture 5, circled in red.
After adjusting the sensitivity to 1/7 (it was even being triggered by the headlights of passing cars on level 3/7) and excluding certain areas from detection (I don’t want to know when my neighbours come and go!), all using the App, the device has now been installed for 36 hours and has saved me from missing 2 deliveries! One, a postman who was writing out a ‘red card’ to say I wasn’t home (see picture 4- and yes, I was home…) but an alert popped up on my phone and I caught him as he was heading away from my front door.
Overnight, it caught the culprit who has been digging my flowers up in the front garden (darned fox! Picture 3) and this afternoon a schoolboy who was taking stones from the same area to throw at his (supposedly even more annoying) mates. The definition is so good I could make out his school badge, even on the ‘standard definition’ setting (it also goes up to ‘HD’. See picture 1 for school badge and picture 2 for the handful of stones. Caught red-handed). The sound recording so excellent that I could hear them screech as he hit them with his well-aimed throws, even when they were half way down the street. By then, I was already out the front (which it also caught on camera.
Cons? I am yet to find any.
Unknowns: No idea what the battery life is like, or how good the cloud services are, as I am not using either. I am using a tiny 16GB Micro SD card, and so don’t need the cloud.
Tip: If you try to watch a video as soon as you are alerted that it has been triggered, it will not let you- it will show a message saying that you don’t have a cloud subscription and so can’t watch it. HOWEVER: this message is misleading. It can’t show the video because it is in the process of recording it, it is not a ‘cloud subscription’ issue. The pop up was super annoying until I worked this out. If you are alerted to a new event, just click on ‘live feed’ first. You will later be able to go back to watching the video it was recording/recorded when triggered. By later, I mean within a minute or so.
Quite honestly, one of the best devices I have bought on Amazon, and the value for money is exceptional. Pretty sure I already have my money’s worth, and I look forward to setting up my garden office where I can’t hear the doorbell, but WILL be alerted thanks for IMOU if anyone comes to call.
Also, no false alerts due to rain or even hail which we had today. The only ‘false’ alert I had was when a security light came on because of a passer by, and the IMOU captured that. But if my security light was better configured it would never have set off the IMOU BULLET LITE.
HIGHLY recommended.
