Of the two light kids I purchased, I’ve already recommended this one over the other- came with instructions!! (The other has to be downloaded from a website). Installing light kits for Lego is not for the faint of heart. This is teeny tiny work that will numb your fingertips. So far we’ve gotten the van and treehouse completely done and lights work and add a lot to the display. Most of the bottom floor of house is also done but we haven’t added boards and power supply, hopefully this weekend. The scariest part is disassembling parts of the piece to get to the areas that lights are and my only complaint is that there are no reassembly instructions- just photographs. Original build instructions are somewhat helpful (they are methodical and in specific order, not for reassembling a big area that’s been pulled apart). We spent over an hour trying to figure out where one extra piece came from/went. Will I purchase more light kits from B-Max, absolutely. Will we be assembling the Home Alone set as a new family holiday tradition every year as planned? Nope not with the lights installed.
Overall, I would recommend this product. It was very tedious to put together, and the directions weren’t always the easiest to follow as some of the colors were off. However, the finished product was very detailed and looks great when it’s finished.
I absolutely love how it looks. It was a lot of work though the only reason I am giving 4 star is because the instructions for the Lego parts coming out are very difficult to understand and pictures aren’t very clear. I also kept forgetting how to put everything back together as well and had to watch a YouTube installation video for this light kit otherwise I don’t think I would have pulled it off. Also if it gets touched the top and middle floor light turns off because the connector pieces for each floor needs everything to be completely flush or something it seems. Have to keep playing around and pressing for it to go back on but Overall satisfied.
I am an older woman and have managed to put several of these together with success. It takes time, patience and good eyes but a magnifier and those tweezers they include can make a difference
A few stumbles along my journey made me question my sanity LOL.
As advertised these lights are delicate and if you try and shove a connection together the wrong way you will damage the entire board and will need a replacement so a few random parts are in order.
Some builds had better instruction than others. This Home Alone kit needs slightly better visual instruction. The Boutique Hotel had better wiring instructions. Because when you have a multitude of wires going in different directions it can and will get confusing.

Buildings they have no kits for and it has worked out well
We add other things and make this our Christmas town every year so these lights make such a difference.
Remember don’t be impatient, and you too will have success with these.

Bravo pour le packaging, l’emballage de chaque lment et la documentation. C’est du srieux. L’installation n’est pas aise et il faut tre trs patient. Au total je pense qu’il m’a fallu pas loin de 10 h pour tout faire. Le rez-de-chausse et le camion des voleurs sont particulirement prouvants. Mais le rsultat est gnial. Attention il devient difficile d’ouvrir certaines parties du Lego du fait de la prsence des cbles. Je pense que si on veut tre au top et qu’on a pas peur de percer certaines pices avec un petite perceuse, il peut tre envisageable de passer les cbles travers certaines pices de Lego pour que l’installation soit moins visible.
Armatevi di pazienza e forse non sar sufficiente lo stesso. Ma il risultato finale vi ricompenser!
Mittlerweile gibt es zum Lego Set so einige Lichtsets, dieses hier ist allerdings, das einzige, dem eine gedruckte Anleitung beiliegt. Da es fr mich das erste Mal war, das ich so eine Beleuchtung eingebaut habe, war ich froh ber diese Anleitung. Sie zeigt zwar nicht alles detailliert und Anfngergerecht, dennoch bekommt man den Einbau mit etwas Geduld hin.
Beachtet sollte noch werden, da es sich hier lediglich um das Lichtset handelt. Zudem sind noch Batterien erforderlich, die nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten sind.
Der Preis fr dieses Set ist im Vergleich zu anderen recht hoch, dennoch bin ich mit dem Endresultat, als Anfnger, sehr zufrieden.
Bought this for my son’s Home Alone house. It takes a little skill to wire would recommend for teens on their own and children (only if an adult helps) it can be a little confusing. Also be careful not to pinch the wires they will short out. But it looks amazing when it’s finished. Highly recommend and it ships fast.
Negative reviews mention how hard this was to assemble. How a grandchild couldn’t assemble this. YES! The makers of this product figured out a way to cheat the Lego system and incorporate lighting into sets. It’s not easy but when completed it’s outstanding! The directions are clear and the makers of this lighting set took time to make sure the least bricks have to be undone. If you want lighting to highlight your set please take a deep breath, read closely, and enjoy the result.
Es hat sich als schwierig gestaltet die Beleuchtung anzubringen. Aber wenn man es geschafft hat, lohnt es sich.
First off, this is not an easy task. There are tons of bags of light cables and materials and three thick instruction books to get your head round. And it takes a long time. For me – a total novice – it took about two and a half days of hard concentration. And it’s not until you’ve spent a day rigging up the bottom floor until the point that you can plug your first set in that you’ll know if you’ve been successful. It’s nailbiting! Fortunately the instructions are genius. Each step is just a picture which indicates which component to use and how to assemble it etc. Not dissimilar to the way lego manuals are designed, but this is much more complicated than lego so it’s really quite a feat to have made it this understandable! The relief I felt when everything worked was incredible and the results are well worth the time and the expense! It’s stunning as you can see from the photos.
It is not a lighting kit for beginners though. The actual wiring and connectors can be tricky to install, especially for older eyes and bigger fingers, as they are very small. I suggest getting magnifying classes or lamp to make sure you have the connectors oriented the correct way when you insert them. With all lighting kits, you have to be very careful not to pinch any of the wires between the bricks. Briksmax is no different.
I do like how Brixmax worked out the kit so that each level of the house is completely disconnected so it can separated. I also like how everything is connected via USB so I can plug all of my kits into one USB hub and then turn them on and off with one flick of the switch or plug them into a Wifi outlet and turn everything off via my phone or by voice. This is going to be a great edition to my Winter Village next Christmas.
I will start this off by saying this Home Alone kit is not for beginners. However, the product itself is very well made and the included instructions as well as the YouTube video were both extremely helpful. You’ll need to purchase 4 CR2025 and 3 AA batteries for the power switches as they weren’t included. I was bummed this kit didn’t come with a remote control as an option. Also, there was one wire that I thought was faulty but it turned out it was just being pinched too hard in between LEGO pieces. This whole kit worked for me with no issues despite of some of the reviews I read. I also got the Briksmax kit for the LEGO pickup truck set (10290) but haven’t started on that one yet. Overall, I recommend this product. I can’t wait to use these bad boys during the holidays!!!
We have many Briksmax kits. This is good. When finished it’s very effective. The contacts between floors need careful alignment. One wire was broken but was replaced immediately by the excellent customer service team at Briksmax. The battery pack for the van is a little underpowered but when lit by usb it’s excellent. These are excellent products overall from an excellent company.
