I purchased this to process dried herb and was very happily surprised. This thing is built like a tank and you see why it# expensive. I had no trouble starting it on my first attempt. I take comfort on the failsafe protection of the fact that it can’t operate without the cover on. It ground my herb to the consistency of oatmeal, which is less than I’d hoped. Maybe if I grind longer it will become finer. Best yet, the herb left minimal residue on the blades, so clean up was easy.

The product works even better than described, and more powerful than I thought it was going to be for that price. I honestly thought I was buying a cheap version of a better product but this product is well made, heavy construction, long life assured by the quality. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be powerful enough to do the job that I put to it but it made mincemeat of the work that I gave it. What I thought would take a minute of grinding took 2 seconds literally, pulse pulse done! Now I’m thinking that I bought too big of a machine in reality this one is excellent.

I bought for mainly spice grinding & it does a fantastic job at that!
Cleaning is a little difficult, because you can’t put anything in the dishwasher. But only takes around 15mins.
Overall I’m very happy with this mill.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis grinder works great! It gets the job done when I have to grind up lots of herbs. I have been using my grinder for about a year and a half. Recently the timer stopped working properly and so I contacted the customer service for Golden Wall. They got right back to me, helped me figure out what was wrong, sent a replacement part and a helpful video to replace the part. It was quick and easy and now works good as new. I was so happy because I do love this grinder! It was great to have such helpful customer service too!

I had a problem finding a grinder for spices I use like gentian root, vanilla beans, sweet flag root, iris root, etc. I bought a Vitamix, and a larger grinder with smaller blades. Neither worked. The day this arrived I need to chop up vanilla beans. I cut the large beans into 2 cm pieces, put into the grinder and in 15 seconds had perfectly chopped up pieces. Neither the Vitamix or the large grinder could do this. The product I was making was noticibly better as the smaller pieces increased the surface area of the spice used. I am curious how to sharpen the blades and how to put the silicon ring/gasket under the lid.

Great help with the capacity but only for quick and short burst of operation. I think the thermal control protecting the motor is a little sensitive so disconnects quick to protect the circuitry. We tried nuts and salt and the breaker keeps activating. The seller hesitated at first to fix the issue because we grinded mixed sugar and nuts though their description says it allows it too. We only needed it to be fine bits. Not trying to make puree at all. After a few days of communicating to the seller for feedback, they sent a new unit for replacement. That’s excellent seller customer service to me. Thank you!

We used to powder our grains at a place where they had a big grinding mill. But since they closed down due to covid, we were looking for alternatives, that’s when I saw this. We thought let’s give it a try and I am glad that it worked out. Though it’s a small one, around 700g, it does a good job of milling for our requirements. You can’t run it for a long time without break like professional ones, but it it’s job. If needed, I would like to try the bigger versions of this.

This product is really good I wish there could have been a little more instruction on timing when grinding whether you want to it be coarse or fine. Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this for the sole purpose of grinding up dehydrated peppers. Previously, I had been using a small coffee grinder but as you can see from the pictures, it would’ve taken me a couple of days and I likely would have burned the thing up in the process.

This thing handled the job wonderfully though. It was fast and it ground the pepper down to a very fine powder, like flour. I don’t know how this will affect my pepper mixes this year but so far it seems good. Some pepper can have a coarser grind but the speed and convenience of this unit will likely outweigh the negative effects.

The motor seems pretty sturdy and powerful. The handle on it is kind of flimsy and bends easily but this wasn’t a big issue for me. The wiring and electronics seem kind of cheap as well but hopefully it will last and frankly, I didn’t buy it to look at it. It did what I needed it to do and it did it well. I did buy the tilting version which was quite handy dumping the pepper out into another bowl. I used the sifter as well for my ground pepper, which was I was happy with.

Like other reviewers stated, it gets hot after running it for a minute or two. It wasn’t a big deal for me because I would grind 3 batches (1 minute each) then sift them so the unit had time to cool down. I was kind of surprised by the blades as they were not sharp but I think that’s intentional. I had expected to see really sharp blades but even though they weren’t, they worked perfectly. I also had mixed results with the cleaning brush too as wasn’t very easy to clean the unit with it since some pepper was stuck in the heads of the screws on the bottom.

Despite all the little things I mentioned, this thing plowed through the peppers I needed to grind without any problem. Overall, I gave it 4 stars.

Worked Great for Grinding Dehydrated Peppers

I am using this device to smash dry and hard Chinese herbs for heart & lung wellness. Was I surprised ! In 3 cycles of 15 seconds each. Resting in between to cool down the herb. Hard and fiber (roots/bark/woody stock) all are smashed into fine particles. These are herbs for sipping with hot water (like tea). Anyone can smash up their favorite recipe into powder. With a couple of my buddies pooling the money, we bought this machine ( get at least a 700g capacity, you need the open space of the canister and the length of the blade to completely pulverized herbs ) , we are now all happy campers. Your imagination has no limit. If you sun dry some cranberry, grind them, and add some cranberry powder into your tea, you will be delighted !

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Users+++ UPDATE 18.10.2020 +++

    +++++

    … aber leider

    – Gert kommt verkratzt und mit schlecht verarbeiteter Bodenplatte an
    – beim Ein-/Ausschaltknopf (Billigst) hat man das Gefhl er wrde jederzeit abfallen
    – die Messer verschleien wahnsinnig schnell
    – Fllmenge 800g, wenn man Steine einfllt?
    – Maschine wird relativ schnell hei
    – das “tolle” Reinigungstool ist nach 5x reinigen reif fr die Entsorgung
    – sehr laut
    – durch die Vibrstionen lsen (weiten) sich teils die Verschlussklemmen
    – leider sieht man nicht wann das Mahlgut den gewnschten Mahlgead erreicht hat. So kann es sein, dass man den Mahlvorgang mehrmals unterbrechen muss um nachzusehen. Oft verbleibt es so leider zu lange
    – die Spannvorrichtung lst sich durch die massive Vibration. So springt, whrend des Betriebs, schon mal das Stellrad ab, wenn man etwas zu weit aufgeschraubt hat und die Maschine fllt aus der Halterung
    – Preis/Leistung

+ Mahlgut ist relativ schnell pulvrig vermahlen
+ im Grunde eine gute Idee, leider mit vielen Mngeln

    daher der Preis zu hoch

Wäre schön gewesen... und wurde besse

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI use Pau d’ Arco in an animal feed supplement I sell and have been burning up coffee grinders 1-2 times a month for a couple years. I decided to give this a try to save time (can grind more at once) and hopefully keep appliances out of the landfill. My main tool for my business is a CS Bell La Milpa commercial grist mill but the Pau d’ Arco is a thin bark that slips by. This spice mill did a very good job turning it to the needed form of powder.
The reviewer with an Indian Restaurant is who convinced me to give it a try as I cook Indian food at home and know how tough/dense some of the spices are in whole form. I’m hoping this mill lasts me at least a year! Thanks!!

Surprise! 1.5 minutes gave us a very fine masa. 0.5 minutes gave us an inconsistent grit- a mix of masa, meal, and fine and coarse grits. Sifting required. The grinder is LOUD, but then we expected it to be as it takes a lot to grind corn. If you had to truly clean this grinder, it would be work as it isn’t easy to get the blades off and you cannot take the grinding bowl off. The corn we ground was fully dried so it brushed out of everything and a simple wipe got any residual dust. We shall see how well this motor lasts as we still have 20 pounds to grind.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe have used whole grains for ages which means we have also tried out several different grinder options. Yes – we own the usual clutch of food processors and then hand grinders etc but this is an area where it does not pay to cut corners. Eventually we invested in one of those lovely wooden counter top models that are fairly expensive but worth every penny especially if you routinely make homemade bread etc…we’ve had it for quite a few years now and it’s still going strong. it’s beautiful, works well and had held up over time…almost perfect. It has one glaring limitation – it cannot handle really large grains like whole corn or full sized dry beans etc… enter the expensive hand unit with optional motor…it’s a beast that can tackle anything you put into it but the assembly, clean-up etc is such a huge ordeal that we go to all kinds of lengths to avoid using it. Enter this. Initially I thought perhaps we didn’t really needed a third grinder but kept thinking back to the beast so figured we’d give it a try. The good news is this can handle beans and corn – not great and I have some concerns over the long term durability but it does the job. Yes, clean-up is a pain but NOWHERE near the big deal required for the manual beast. Now, compared to out countertop beauty – this is a horrible pain to use…hands down that one wins. I grinds to a smoother consistency, doesn’t overheat, is easier to use, easier to clean…this really doesn’t compare. On the other hand, that is very limited when it comes to really large beans/corn etc…
So – bottom line – go with the beautiful high ranked and expensive wood model if you only intend to use with small grains like wheat, millet etc… For those that want/need the versatility to handle large grains like corn or beans – this is a good option but be prepared to work WITH the machine to address over-heating, clean-up etc… Last but not least, consider the price. Heavy duty manual (with motor option) are also quite expensive and REALLY a burden to set-up/take down…and use (muscle power) without the motor but they will last decades if you buy the right one. I don’t think this has anywhere near the lifespan of either prior unit but out of all of them, it’s the most versatile and least expensive putting this as a strong contender for consideration and all around versatility.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was sick and tired of buying the 10-20 dollar plastic coffee grinders that would last me at best a year or two and would have to replace them 4 times already. I was also upset about generating so much un-needed electronic garbage. This was my main reason to purchase this particular item, though it was more pricey, it is made from stainless steel with nearly no plastic parts.

Arrived packaged in thermocol, without damage. Seller communicated via email to let me know product had shipped.

So far, have used it to grind several spices, and cleaned up the insides with a wet microfiber cloth after emptying the chamber out by tapping it upside down. I expect it to feel slightly heavy if held for a prolonged period of time, but thankfully havent needed to hold it for too long. Hoping this product would last me longer and I meet my primary goals of a purchasing a long lasting quality product.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI love that this grinds grains, seeds, herbs, and beans into flours and powders with great ease, but there are some things that could have been better about it. First off, you plug this in and then turn a timer to start the motor. The timer has markings for one, two, three, four, and five minutes. For everything I’ve done so far, the ingredient is ground into a fine powder in less than a minute. Usually between 30 and 55 seconds. It would’ve made more sense to have the timer marked for the seconds, as seconds are currently just a guessing game. Also, it would’ve been lovely to have a power switch (on and off) as I noticed the videos of people using this had people cranking up the timer, counting out the time, and then unplugging it as a way to get the correct time.

Also note that the lid is clamped on, and there are cylinder “screws” at the bottom that can be further tightened for a tighter clamp action. One of these was not fully tight when I first tried it, so when I was doing the cleaning grind before the first use, the fine powder seeped out of one side and got all over a 2 foot circle around the grinder. After I tightened the screw, this was never an issue again. No leaks. Though I will warn you to tap around the lid before opening it as fine powder can puff or spill out as you remove the lid.

So far with the beans, grains, and seeds that I’ve ground, the correct amount (300 g for my machine) turns out to be about 1.25 to 1.75 cups. You need to let the motor rest after five minutes total of using the machine or the machine will overheat. But carefully removing the powder from the machine can take minutes (in between 50 second grinds), so I’ve never had this be a problem that slowed me down. For oily seeds or nuts, they recommend only grinding for a few seconds at a time (I think it was 10 to 20 seconds) before opening the lid and shifting the ingredients so that a nut butter doesn’t form at the bottom. I tend to grind the oily things first and follow it up with a grain to help clean the oil from the machine.

They do not want you to immerse the motor in water, but you can take a damp cloth to wipe out the inside of the grinding chamber. You can probably wash the lid in water, though I’ve not tried immersing it in water. Unfortunately, there are several screw heads in the grinding area which catch the debris and need to be cleaned out thoroughly before storage. You can remove the blades to clean the blades and around the area of the blades, but they say that the blades are on very tightly at first and so that may be difficult. I’ve just used a microfiber cloth that is great for dusting to pick up any flour dust around this area.

For the swing type, which I have, you can loosen a screw along the side and tilt the machine for cleaning and for removing the finished product. This does make it very easy to remove the product compared to having to hold the whole heavy machine. They give detailed instructions on how to replace the blades or other pertinent parts, plus they give spare parts in case something breaks or eventually needs to be changed. I appreciate having the spares on hand. The machine comes across as sturdy and safe to use.

This works wonderful, love that it tilts and makes it easy to get things out. I will need a little work on just how long to leave things in for the size I want. This is just what I have been looking for and wanted for a long time. It is really easy to use and clean, made well, nice size bowl. I totally love it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe are a gluten-free home, and it’s not always easy to find good flours. We’ve resorted to buying our on whole grains and nuts to grind our own, and this machine was just what we were looking for. It’s pretty amazing for even the hardest materials. Now that I know how powerful this is, I’ll use it for tougher stuff like dried medicinal roots.

My idea was to create “designer” flour for making my breads. What I mean by that is grinding together different things…say a cup of wheat berries, a quarter cup of dried chickpeas, throw in a handful of hazelnuts and when done, I’d have this wonderfully nutty bread flour that just needs a few tablespoons of yeast, a drizzle of honey and water to make a unique bread. The machine can make flour, but it’s just not an easy machine to use (for the first few times) nor is it easy to clean. I will continue to use it, but it just seems a bit more time designing this machine would have yielded a better, more efficient, easier to use and clean design. For the price it also should be more time saving than time consuming.

Very good grinder so far, i have only tried dried reishi mushrooms. It did an excellent job. The only downside so far is the smell from the motor. Not sure if it will go away or not. I just use it out in the garage for now.
