The quality of this headset and the sound quality are both really good, but it does seem a little lack luster for the overall price of this.
Really comfortable to wear while gaming, especially when gaming and wearing these for long periods of time, with it being adjustable for a better fit.
The mic itself is great, which makes these perfect for when you’re playing online with people, or even if you use them in work for online conference calls, as my husband learned when he borrowed these for work when his work ones no longer worked.
The wireless and Bluetooth aspect of this is fantastic and connects quite easily, without losing any of the quality from it being wireless.
i have bought and sold every headset under the sun from steel series to asto ive had it and sold it ,, but the HS 80 is by far the best headset out them all the sound the comfort the build beat them all and at the price too it’s a steal
I would recommend these to anyone from a gamer to a casual YouTube music listener. I ware them for hours at a time gaming no sweaty ears, Really nice piece of kit.
I’ve had my Razer Kraken Championship Edition for 7 years and never had a wireless headset until now.
This is super comfy, compared to the ear cups I had before that started to fall apart this mesh material actually feels more comforting.
The sound is great, actually a lot less harsher than the Razer.
Super Premium!
Not really tested on gaming yet but I’m sure its miles better than what I had.
I recommend this headset just because its Corsair and the price is actually good for what you get.
UPDATE: After almost 2 weeks of usage, I have found that the battery life is definately not that it advertises, I have had a few occasions where I would use it for around 2 hours and the battery dies, not sure if this is a fault or something but after less than 2 weeks its a bit concerning.
But they’re still comfortable to wear and sound great.
The sound after tuning the headset in icue using 8 channel 24bit audio sound really good not sure if it’s slightly better than the Virtuoso but the kids and highs were more crisp than Corsair’s flagship headphones. Bass is there not boom rumble type bass like on other brands but it’s got a nice depth to it doesn’t sound muddy or distorted.
On the fence about returning them at the moment because of the ear pressure problem. I actually find the Corsair virtuoso more comfortable on my average size head!
Edit:
I decided to keep the headset, I bought a set of ear cushions on Amazon for around 15 they are the velvet ones with the pleather. I tried protein leather at first and did not help with the discomfort I felt around my ears. Happy to say the velvet and pleather style works better for me. Decent headset if you don’t want to go crazy on 200 headphones. This one is more friendly on the pocket. Side note on Dolby Atmos, I don’t think it’s terrible, it sounds ok but I found just tuning icue EQ to my preferences did a way better job and shows as 8 channel audio 24 bit 48 000 hz where as in Dolby Atmos mode you only show 2 channels. but at 96 000 hz honestly I prefer icue though to manage the sound stage.
I bought these because the sound quality was superb for gaming and for audio in Discord etc… There are no arguments on that front, the sound is superb and the surround is really excellent. They are great to wear for those 10 hour sessions you don’t admit to having and they look good. I’ve not had headphone fatigue wearing them yet.
But there is a downside. And that’s the battery life. It’s awful, really really poor. In a D&D session I get a low battery warning after 3 hours and a critical battery warning not long after. They do last a bit longer if you don’t plug them in but not that much. For anything over 4 hours you really need them plugged in which completely negates the entire reason for buying them. I’m very seriously considering swapping them for something with a sensible battery life, something with at least 12 hours.
So, great headphones with a critical flaw. If you don’t play games or need wireless for more than 4 hours you can buy with confidence because the quality of sound is excellent. But if you need battery life I’d say on balance you should look elsewhere.
Out of the box this headset does NOT have good sound for FPS/survival. The depth/direction is impossible to pinpoint. Where I (with Sennheiser Game One) used to be able to point out shots on the exact number on the compass, I now will have a sort of “south-south west ish” sort of idea where sounds are coming from. And the distance is much harder to pinpoint. Out of the box they could be anywhere, even above me, it was a complete mess. To combat this you HAVE TO install Dolby Atmos via the Windows Store, it will then auto-sort the license and apply spatial sound in Windows. You can then tweak it in the Dolby app to sound much better for whatever game you are playing. Before doing this I literally couldn’t tell if the sound came from left or right, it was just everywhere and above all at once. Some sounds will sound more metal-y and “thin” than you are used to if you are coming from a higher quality headset, and with the added Dolby Atmos the overall sound levels will be a bit lower than it is from the box. Still more than loud enough though, as it’s borderline too loud out of the box.
For playing strategy games, watching youtube, chatting etc, it’s an amazing headset and needs very little adjustments. It’s ready to go with the iCUE software, where there are a couple presets to choose from.
The microphone is great out of the box, needed nothing at all. It does mute itself sometimes a couple times a week, I don’t know why, I just have to troubleshoot the mic in windows and it will unmute it.
Turn off all and any light effects to have longer battery life. The battery isn’t that big, likely to ensure it’s a lightweight headset. Any lighting will drain the battery and you don’t see the lights anyway. I have it all off, when I am on a gaming binge I easily get 8 hours of play time and still not fully depleted at that point. I see others mentioning only getting 6 hours out of them but that has not been the case for me. You can choose how long it will stay active before automatically shutting off, which is great, I put mine to 10 minutes but could probably do with just 5 to save even more battery. Turns on in 2 sec anyway.
All in all I am very pleased with the headset, just wish the positional audio was a lot better as I do play a lot of FPS/survival games where that is key. If that part of the audio was on point from the start this would be a smash hit for me. I will keep this as it’s super comfy and I needed to go wireless, and the audio is good enough now that it’s been tweaked. I would recommend getting this on a discount/from the Amazon warehouse if you are getting it. If positional audio is more important to you and you can miss a little of the comfort, the Pro X is maybe the better choice in the same price range.
Wayy better than turtlebeeches. I was initially on stealth 800. The comfort of these headphones are outstanding and i would be very fussyw ehn it comes to comfort. Best headphones to date. Battery life is mid, charge every other day of use, but you can still use while charging which is grea
I bought this to replace my void pro which I loved but the battery died on, these are a good replacement for them, they sound great and are comfortable but there are a couple of flaws. Firstly they can get quite uncomfortable if you are a glasses wearer, causing your glasses to dig in. Not sure if it is just a problem with mine but when I use discord I have to turn off and on my headset for it to pick up my voice and then it mutes itself after I leave a call. Apart from that it’s really decent and good value for money.
Got it mostly for work. Better mic than most other wireless headphones I have tested. I wish it had microphone noise cancelling. The dongle doesn’t turn off if you turn off the headphones. It’s bothersome because I have to change mic and sound output every time. Overall, recommend.
If you don’t wear glasses this headset would be pretty good for you.
i previously had the new steel series nova pro and the microphone was awful and would randomly do a high pitched noise. so switched to this one everyone says the mic is way better. it sounds really good most of the time i forget i have it on its that comfy. the only downside is the connection can be bad, i move to the other side of room and it starts beeping at me so it doesnt go far at all constantly beeps at you. sometimes the mic will show red even when its flipped down i usally have to flip it up and down about 6 times to get it to actually turn on.. but other than that id say this 100 headset is better than the 300 steel series nova pro
It’s tight on the ears but gets better over time.
Mic is better when using USB but not too much difference when wireless. Good range. Battery life is alright considering I use it every day for 8hrs+ and have side tone enabled which really helps keep my volume in check.
Decent headset. Main issues have been pc related (sometimes disconnects etc) so not really something to comment on for this.
I really like this headset, I bought the logitech G733 right before this one but the sound was crackly and it was not very comfortable. This headset is much more comfortable and the sound is great, I should have stuck with corsair from the start, they make the best headphones. The microphone quality is also one of if not the best for a wireless headset.
These is a good headphone for gaming. But you cannot expect premium quality sound like bose headphones. Base is a bit lower.
Mic quality is decent. Though when I compared with my s22 ultra mic I found my phone has better mic.
Great sound quality for the microphone and headset.
Very comfortable.
The negatives first: The battery life is terrible. It says 20 hours, but I get maybe 10 at a time. I wear my headphones all day, for music while working, and then in the evening for gaming, and I end up having to charge them halfway through the day.
Apart from that, I love everything about the headset. It feels comfortable (and I have a fairly large head), and it sounds really, really good in Atmos mode. The headset only really comes to life in Atmos mode, so ignore the regular settings.
All in all, a great headset, when it’s charged.
The headset is very good feels nice to wear and the sound picks up the foot steps very well. It uses Dolby Atmos to make it surround sound that clear and packs a punch pc only all in all for the price it’s a good gaming headset just been a few updates to do then your there , the mic is good and clear . The two bad points are the battery is not 20 hours more like 12 and the RGB are wasted on the side so with them turned off about 12 hours battery other then that all good
use this for work and games at home. Very lightweight which is probably why it isn’t the best for battery life however it also makes it extra comfortable as long as you correctly adjust the tension straps.
I play a lot of video games and my last headset is on its way out, so I decided to invest in a new one. After a lot of review reading and trying a different headset and then returning it, I decided this Corsair one sounded like what I was looking for – I have a Corsair keyboard and love it, so I already am familiar with the brand and like their products.
The headset itself is fine, it does what it states on the tin. I wanted a headset with decent mic quality, which this has, and was wireless, which it is. However, I have a wide head and I found that the design of the headband was uncomfortable; there’s no way to adjust the headband itself, there’s just a velcro strap inside that you can move, so if the actual headset is too small then you’re out of luck. Because of this, the earcups rested on my ears themselves and over time the pressure hurts – so it’s either you have comfortable ears and your head hurts, or your head is fine and your ears hurt.
Because of the earcups not sitting over my ears entirely either I found a lot of outside noises bleeding in as I was listening to music/playing games etc. I know the headset isn’t designed to be noise cancelling, so perhaps a minor complaint, but I was somewhat disappointed because the ear cushions are so plush they should be fine at muffling most distractions, provided they’re not too loud.
Set up was super simple pretty much straight out of the box – so simple I thought I was missing an instruction manual or I misunderstood what I was reading! I like the idea of being able to flip the mic up and down to mute yourself, and it beeps to let you know when it’s actually been flipped up enough to be muted; I don’t use push-to-talk so this was pretty convenient.
I’m going to return this headset as it doesn’t fit what I’m looking for, but I can’t fault Corsair for my humongous head. If you’re looking for a decent headset at a decent price then you’ve found it.
Amazing sound quality and ear comfort but not good for large heads. Hard strap pressed down on the top uncomfortably
I bought these based on a recommendation and am so glad I did. They are so comfortable it feels like my head is being hugged.
I recorded my voice into camtasia and there is no audible noise. I don’t even need to apply a noise removal filter. I am using them with the wire connected.
Mic sounds great, better than a mic the same price as the headset I recently bought, also it works with phones if you get a lightning to usb adapter, didn’t expectt it to but it does.. best headphones i’ve ever bought they are so comfy as well
They’re comfortable and the flip to mute is a great feature. Make sure to download the app for pc and adjust eq as the default is atrocious. The mic quality is excellent, like almost studio quality.
Downside is that it won’t work on Mac OS at the moment, Corsair hasn’t bothered to fix the issue of it not even working. Bluetooth connection is also not as great in terms of allowing you to use your phone or save settings etc. the dongle is a receiver and that’s it.
All in all I would find myself still going for my wired Sony headphones, the ones that are like 15 on Amazon. They’re richer in sound and more comfortable. A simple plug and play solution.
Would not buy these agai
You have to download the corsair icue app to play around the settings and lighting. It’s not ideal but you really do need to play with EQ settings to get the right sound. It is also licensed to use dolby atmos for free which you can download from Microsoft store. You can use this instead of the corsair icue.
Very happy with this headse
Anyone sitting on the fence — procrastinating. Just get it!!! I got the warrantee too. So covered for 3yrs I think it is.
Brilliant piece of tech once again from a great company.
HOWEVER, I had a problem with intermittent audio crackling/popping and spent almost 1.5 hours trying to fix it. I’m not certain it is fully resolved even now, just occurring at a lower frequency than before. Whatever drivers they’re using for these are not plug and play by any means. If you have the same issues as me, make sure the Windows sound settings do not have the audio quality set to 8 channel/96KHz if you’re not using the Dolby Surround Sound software. I set mine to 2 channel/48KHz and the issue is mostly resolved. Of course, this could be a hardware issue but unlikely IMO as I’ve never had a problem with any other headset.
To add insult to injury, why is the legacy iCUE software listed under the support page for the HS80s instead of the newest version when the legacy version cannot detect them? Took me 5 minutes to realise I had installed the wrong iCUE release.
The mic is phenomenal for a wireless mic, better than my old wired mic its amazing! it says 60 feet wireless range but when i went to my sisters room to see the range they went, maybe like 5 meters away baring in mind i did close my door too so that might have effected it.
this are 100% the go to wireless headphones, good price too these are the ones you gotta get if you’re looking for a new hadset (dont get steel series their mics are pretty trash)
