I have a Prusa MK3s and was plagued with problems cloging and filament snapping… didn’t know filament soaks water from the air over time, could never get wood filament to work…. now after using this dyer my prints are how they should be. Really happy with this dyer, the only con’s you can hear the fan going, and clicking from it regulating the temperature…

After trying 3 different filament dryer boxes over the past fortnight, I found this to be the winner. It was the best in once you take into account of of the cost and effectiveness of the machine. This was the cheapest option but I would say it was a close second in terms of how good it was in drying the 3D filaments. Basically, this is a controlled heat and dry box. It gets so hot as to dry and dehydrate the filaments. It does take some practice to setting it up so that the filaments unwind smoothly but once you get some experience with using it, it is great.

So, it’s fairly well known that the “dry box” lots of companies make don’t work, because they don’t get warm enough to rip the moisture out of the filament – all they’ll do is keep the filament warm. This one actually gets warm enough to dehydrate the filament, I’ve been using it fro PA-CF with a proper humidity & temperature sensor inside the box and after about 2 minutes at 70 degrees the box enclosure is around 65 degrees and hops between 1 and 3% humidity – so yes, this works. I’ve put significantly moisture filled CF12 filament inside this and after 8 hours it has come out printing great, without the cost of running an oven for 8 hours.
Only down side is it’s incredibly fiddler to feed stuff through and the included hose is a useless PTFE tube, it would be nice if they included something like capricorn tubing to counter the added friction included with printing from a box like this.

Very simple to assemble, took about 5 minutes. Heater worked quickly and quietly.
I didn’t realise that no coin cell battery was included, so can’t comment on how well the humidity sensor works yet.

Well this is both good and bad, but better than the esun rubbish! Very good very sturdy and smooth rollers. This is quite a large device and seems to help somewhat. However I am not convinced that this is anything more than a basic food dehydrator. If I were to actually purchase this I would have been disappointed. I’m not convinced of the accuracy of the readout and for this price, I would have expected to have a weight measurement similar to the esun (which is otherwise rubbish).
This very much feels like a prototype even though it is well built. I have good faith that the next generation of these will be a good improvement. Having said that, if money is no problem, then this could be of benefit for you, but keep the box, just in case!

I tend to use a small amount of a roll and then move onto a different colour, material or brand to test that so have quite a lot of partially used spools of filament lying around. Most of them are thrown back into their bag or box, but not sealed. The big problem is that they all absorb moisture and then are pretty much useless.
I tried running a print with one of the oldest spools and had nothing but failures. I popped the spool into this drying box and after about 5-6hours at 60 degrees, I was happily printing with the roll again.
The box fits two 1kg rolls quite comfortably. The fan seems to do a great job distributing the warm air and the bonus with this unit compared to cheaper models, you can print while leaving the spool in the dryer. The bearings feel smooth and the included Bowden tube is a decent length.
Happily recommend this unit if you’re like me and have loads of half rolls lying around wasting away.
