Was in the market for a 65% keyboard and after watching countless reviews and top x lists, I settled on this little guy. Best keyboard I’ve ever owned with the only downside being it’s in US layout instead of UK. Not a big deal for people who are used to typing quickly or touch type.
Will be buying more FNATIC gear in the future.
Ok so the most important things:
The switches are great, they feel solid, the actual build overall is really good and the keycaps feel quite nice.
The Cherry “Silent Red” switches are quite a bit quieter compared to previous switches I’ve tried, I think the only kind of keyboard that rivals this for silence are chiclet style keyboards.
The software is pretty decent and has solid enough customisation for the lighting, RGB lovers would enjoy this.
Other Notes:
For those that like to flip their spacebars upside down like I do, it is very easy to do on this keyboard, unlike my previous one (Blackwidow Lite). However there is a logo on the spacebar and it makes it face away from the user (visible in my attached image).
However, the LEDs in the switches are incredibly inconsistent in their lighting. I’ve attached an image that demonstrates what I’m talking about quite clearly where there seems to be clusters of switches with their own hues. This is very noticeable for me because I want the keyboard to have a fairly dim solid colour backlight, but it just looks BAD when set to this. If you have rainbow effects or very bright colours I doubt you’d notice, but for those that want more subtle effects, this is really annoying.
Mega !! Mehr gibt es nicht zu sagen , Top Qualitt, Top Verarbeitung, Top Tasten diese sind aus Double PBT gefertigt ! Bei der normalen Version Streak65 sind ABS …
The aluminum case feels amazing. The keyboard is light but does not move around. Low profile looks so clean and RGB shines very crispy through the keys (on white version at least). Keycaps are your usual doubleshot pbt and the quality matches the expectations there. And this is very personal but I love the sound of it. The silver switches are not noisy yet makes enough sound to feed the mechanical keyboard sound hunger if you have any. Recommended all the way. One complaint: They were out of ANSI layout so I got ISO. In their software there is only ANSI option. So the layout will look different if you want to rebind your keys and I couldn’t find anyway to rebind the key between left shift and Z ( key). So it is sort of a waste of a key. I contacted them and I was told the engineering team is working on it.
I’ve went through about 10 or so gaming keyboards, and this is by far my favourite one. I love how compact everything is, and the RGB options are fantastic aswell
i needed a quieter mechanical keyboard and this one is perfect.
the compact size is just right for my desk set up, the build quality and feel are great. has a nice weight.
the keyboard software allows for full customisation of the colour of each key which is a lot of fun.
another nice feature is the removeable USB cable which sits securely under the keyboard.
one thing to note with the silent switches is, due to their nature, they no longer have the ‘click’ sound and feeling. instead they feel smooth and with the absence of the tactile click, it can take a little bit of time to get used to knowing when you’ve pressed the key all the way.
however, once you do, it feels natural and comfortable. though the absence of the ‘click’ may not be for everyone, it is the trade-off for the lower noise levels.
The first time I unboxed a new keyboard and instantly loved the feel. Specifically the low profile, short travel distance and fast multi presses is exactly what I wanted. Just perfect. Quality is obviously great. If you’re like me who likes putting O-rings in your keyboard + linear speed switch, then this is just perfect for you.
Decent keyboard and pretty comfortable, not as many mistypes as my old one, but I think with mechanical keyboards your more likely to get them. Nice lighting settings once you figure out how to use them.
If you want to set your own colours go to the OP software chose lightning tab, colour editor then play around with the colours and save. Then close and press FN-Pause Break together until you find the profile which will flash the number of which one it’s on. It did take me a long time to work out how to get that light set up but once I learned how to do it was easy. Only thing to point out is the key lights background can be bright at the wrong angle, if you can tellt it at an angle or look down and lineup your eyes then the lights are perfect. Silly minor flaw but for most it won’t bother them. No problems other then them. I could of gone for a slightly more quiet Fnatic keyboard but went for the slightly longer lifespan of 70-80mil keystrokes. Price is about right cheaper would of been nice but worth the cost.
Rgb works when the computer is off and lights up the room. I love the design very slick and clean. What a unique keyboard!!
RGB on the white version is great, stabilizers are insane too for a stock board. 100% Would recommend just buy it bro
miniStreak with Cherry Silent Red
I don’t use the num pad on a keyboard and the extra width just forces my mouse further to the right, which is uncomfortable so I decided to try a TKL. That was four years ago, this will be my third TKL and the second miniStreak.
Presentation is OK but it doesn’t scream “bling” at you.
The keyboard looks and feels less impressive than something like a Corsair, but it is really solid. I guess that may be it’s lack of weight that makes it feel a bit cheaper than it is. Most other mechanical keyboards are heavier, not that it affects performance.
The cable clips in to the keyboard either way up, which is a really nice touch. No struggling to see which way it goes. It’s also very long. About seven feet long, which is very handy.
You need a wrist rest about 37cm long for the miniStreak
I like a keyboard to be quiet so I wanted Silent Red. The Silent Red Keys are lovely. They really are a lot quieter than any of the other keys and a huge difference from normal Cherry Reds. At first they felt a little strange compared to other ( non silent ) switches, but it only took a few days to adjust to them. Now they feel completely normal. Absolutely disagree with reviewers who say this and that are better or worse. It’s a very personal thing. If you want silent then I can’t recommended the Silent Red highly enough.
The LED lighting is actually much better than I thought it would be. There is nothing like as much light leakage as a Corsair. Corsair it’s a bit difficult to see the characters on the keys because the amount of glow coming from underneath. Surprisingly this keyboard is on the same level as the Razer, in that the light leakage really isn’t that bad at all. Logitech of course has absolutely no light leakage, only the characters are lit, but the fnatic comes in a good second and perfectly suitable for night time playing. The shift characters are not so well lit, but this is a normal thing with Cherry keys.
The keyboard has a label stuck on the space-bar to tell you where to get the software. The software is really nice. It is not the most comprehensive, but it is just so intuitive and easy. I like Competition mode. When selected, this disables useless keys and sets the keyboard to one colour. I would like to see the ability to disable keys added to the normal operation though, I mean all “locks” should be set to off! One thing that is nice is that they keyboard remembers everything set in the software. You don’t need to run the software in the background all the time.
All in all this is a fantastic piece of kit. I think it lacks a certain something that makes it really stand out. The “wow” factor. But if you want performance at a reasonable cost, then this is for you.
I have been using a FNATIC for more than three years now and it hasn’t missed a beat. It gets long daily use. The keys show no sign of damage, paint wearing off, etc. I just bought a second because they went on sale and I wanted a second to keep one in reserve should anything happen to this one. I need to pull the keys off the old one and give it a good cleaning! One thing about these keyboards is the keys are mounted on the base not recessed in to it. So there are no nasty little spaces muck can get in. Well, there is one, but that’s all. So it’s really, really easy to clean them. If you are like me and often eat your lunch sat at the PC then that’s seriously important! You don’t want your keyboard inner workings stuffed wit tuna.
Very highly recommended.
Fantastic keyboard, nice and quiet for a mechanical.
Not my favourite keyboard for everyday typing but my go to for gaming.
I previously used a hyperx mechanical keyboard with red switches and I can sincerely say that it’s keyboard is miles better in basically every single way. I recommend it to people are are looking for the best performing keyboard, especially in fps games and for people that are going for a cleaner setup.
One down side is that it doesn’t have many RGB modes and you’re most likely just gonna stick with the rain effect for gradient. Happy shopping!
Got this to replace a cherry MX Corsair keyboard. I’d say it’s roughly as good build quality wise but does feel different as it’s the silent red keys. The keys are much quieter (not silent).
The keyboard is well designed and has some wieght to it which is nice.
At the price point I would say this is excellent.
The keyboard is lovely. It’s quiet (unlike a lot of not customised mechanical keyboard), the stabilisers are great straight out of the box and I think the rgb looks incredible on my white variant. The keyboard is low profile and overall has a rather small form factor, however does also have all the keys I would need (has dedicated arrow keys and enough macro keys). Comes with a coiled, braided cable which is rare at this price point, making it looks that bit better as well. However this cable is also removable so could be changed out if you wished to do so.
Height adjustments on the back are good, personally I think the keyboard is good flat but they’re there if you prefer that.
Only real complaint I can think of is that you can see some of the screws in the top plate, but personally I don’t think it’s a big deal and I don’t really notice.
Overall a brilliant product which I love and I’m very happy with my purchase.
I love mechanical but I don’t like worrying about waking the neighbours with the clickity clack. Silent keys are essential to me and these are very good. No its not as quiet as membrane but once you go mechanical you can’t go back so its cherry silent or Kailh pink silent switches (which I’ve only heard of but not used myself)
Tenkeyless is very nice, I never used the numpad anyway, and now I have more desk room on a very small desk.
Marking a star down for the relative dearth of RGB pattern options is harsh. But its a crowded market and why shouldn’t we ask for perfection? especially when this is something that could be fixed via software, at least the software seems stable and isn’t intrusive *glares at Razer*.
Could possibly be improved by some kind of wrist rest, but I do understand a tenkeyless coming with a wrist rest is a bit counter intuitive.
Perfect – not much else to say. An immense first gaming keyboard
Great keyboard for gaming very responsive good rgb lighting very quiet keys.
I use this keyboard mainly for competitive FPS gaming and just general typing etc. It works really great and is especially responsive for gaming. The software for it could be improved slightly but overall it is functional. The lights are very colourful and bright and it is definitely aesthetically pleasing.
Amazing keyboard for gaming. switches feel super fast and responsive!
I was shopping around for a decently-priced silent red TKL board and came across this. It’s actually much better than I was expecting even with all the 5* reviews. The construction is really solid, it works straight out of the box and the silent reds are actually very good, though they will take a bit of getting used to if you’re coming from blues! The only issue I find is that the accompanying software is functional but glitchy, if you’re after extreme levels of rgb control maybe look elsewhere but otherwise this keyboard is excellent value for money.
Small mechanical keyboard that looks and feels well built. Download the beta software to unlock all the lighting features and macros for key bindings. I opted for the silent red keys.
I like the size of the keyboard, switch and RGB. However the function key is bit weird. There is a BIOS mode. I am not sure to use the function keys I have to switch from one to another by holding B+I+O+S
It is by far the best keyboard I had. I moved from a Microsoft Surface Keyboard and the Fnatic streak65 is a real game changer.
Great keyboard would highly recommend. All the YouTube reviews are solid and made me purchase it This is my first mechanical keyboard so bare that in mind so nothing to compare it against but can’t see me buying a different one any time soo
Its the second time i have purchased this keyboard i love it because is silent so i can game hours during night without issue of noise
Great keyboard I will not be using it though it is really fast but the actuation force is really high and it’s a 70g bottom out like that for me is way to high I will be using the razer huntsman instead but for games such as valorant or
CSGO it would be perfect but for competitive fortnite it is just a little to heave switch wise
Great value for money, well built and a comfortable low profile keyboard. Would definitely recommend!
Just got this keyboard on sale for 84.99 and I’m loving it!
I previously owned the Roccat Vulcan 120 and the Ducky One2 Mini.
Loved the Vulcan but it was far too big.
The Ducky was good till the USB-C port broke (common fault) but this feels even better than the both in my opinion. It’s also just a little bit bigger than Ducky but a million times better quality!
Build quality is solid, RGB is excellent. Software does the job but I believe it’s still in BETA so things can only get better.
The only issue I had was that the shift key is quite a bit smaller in comparison to my previous boards, but my fingers quickly got used to it and the whole keyboard it feels rapid!!
Speaking of keys, this board has the best feel of any keys I’ve ever felt. PBT keycaps would be something I (and many others judging by other reviews) would’ve liked so fingers crossed Fnatic start selling some as I will buy them instantly.
Do not hesisate.. Just buy it!
Received this keyboard today and first impressions are very positive! This thing feels solid despite it’s size and the lights looks great–aside from the whites which have some light curdling (you can visibly notice the other colours that make the white). I’ve set mine to a two-tone of orange and hot pink.
The switches on this exceeded my expectations since I’ve not had great experience with linear switches but THESE feel good! There’s little travel distance so it’s compensated by a stiffer springs, giving way to a robust and almost tactile(?) feel. They feel really good is what I’m trying to say, and I’m someone coming from a 30 year old Dell bigfoot. I really dig the lack of a ‘gamery’ font for the key legends and this looks far more neutral and professional than those tacky fonts you’d see on Corsair or Razer.
The lock light on the caps-lock key is also a nice touch, and the key layout is obviously reduced to a 65% footprint, removing the F keys and multipurposing the number row to use them as function keys. This is a reasonable tradeoff as they’ve quite cleary chosen to stick to 5 rows, but as someone who plays a lot of retro first person shooters like Doom or Quake, I use F6 and F9 for saves, and now I have to press an extra button or remap it altogether. A thing to keep in mind.
There also seems to be shortcut/remappable macro keys on the right hand side, next to the nav cluster, so these might eliminate the need to make two key presses in order to activate a function key–allowing you to save and load in games like Doom which is a welcome idea.
Of course, you can see the price of this keyboard is fairly steep for something so small. So why should you buy it? Well, you’re getting a well built, sturdy piece of hardware that not only saves space but allows you to play responsively in games with the low profile speed switches that feel smooth and aren’t too light. The materials used feel good and just the design of this keyboard is very eyecatching, and something you’d only really find from Fnatic.
This is a great keyboard with a fast, light, short and enjoyable key press feel. I tried a few others but the balance of all of these make this a cut above.
The best keyboard for this price, the silver speed one is best then the red sile
I was very happily surprised over the over all quality of the keyboard. Everything from the crisp button clicks to the sturdy metal frame feels like its a top quality keyboard.
My favourite feature is the small size of the keyboard it’s perfect for a smaller desk/gaming station. The LED lights and options are pretty cool too!
I didn’t love the instructions that came with the keyboard, due to not them not being easy to follow/understand. Luckily it was fairly easy to set up and figure out on my own.
Great keyboard for gaming. Comes with software and the ability to create hotkeys.
Good keyboard with quality switches and backplate. RGB lighting is a good addition for people who want to change the look of their keyboard. Keycaps appear to be of high quality with no wear even after weeks of daily use.
Updating this review based on the fact I bought both of these versions plus the brown switch ‘classic’ version and just got the updated red switch version today.
First of all, I’m going to say Fnatic I’m disappointed. Your original brown/blue switch variety keyboards are no longer stocked but they came with a wrist rest and fnatic branded stickers in the box. This second generation set is lacking and tells you they are now extras but they cost the same amount of money as before.
Secondly, I really wish Fnatic would make this keyboard in a low profile version like they have with the Fnatic Streak65 (which I also owned but returned due to bad keybinding options). I loved the low profile streak65 to type on but the lack of keys was detrimental to what I needed it for. You also don’t need a wrist rest with it.
The ministreak however is my favourite shape with the TKL layout, particularly for games like League of Legends where you really could use the F keys to look around the map plus the delete key was weird on the 65 version.
The ministreak lighting isn’t spectacular compared to some others but it’s much better than Corsair. White for example is just made from really light blue. Purple is just pink and really hard to get accurate without dulling out.
Finally, the typing experience. That’s why you are here after all. So I personally prefer the original brown switches and I’ve always preferred those over reds and silvers but the silvers were quite possibly the worst feeling switches I’ve ever used. I sent that version back the day I got it. The red switches are better in my opinion but you should listen to the sounds on YouTube to get a better idea for yourself before purchase. One important thing to note is with the silvers I had major problems with keys not being detected when I pressed it. I’ve never had that before and considering I bottom out the keys this was really weird for a high activation point switch. The reds don’t have this issue.
I still much prefer the brown key version for now unless they do a low profile version but I’ll keep the red as I don’t have the brown anymore and I can’t get hold of one. Without going for the ridiculously expensive logitech keyboard at 200, I’d say this is probably the best keyboard on the market right now overall if you don’t need music controls direct.
Absolutely love my new keyboard! Perfect for my gaming setup!
Beyond the style and the LED lights (which are stunning), the performance of the keyboard is exactly what I needed. I love its compact size. Whether gaming or typing the keyboard feels fantastic! The key layout is perfect for fast movements which is great for when playing games.
Loads of light customisation options too, which is amazing! I am very much enjoying the constant rainbow flow!
Would absolutely recommend this keyboard for a gaming setup. I’m inlove with it! 🙂
Great little keyboard a massive space saver, great feel even the lightest touch can press the key so need to get used to t but very happy with my purchase.
I didn’t get mine new but the fnatic keyboard is great it uses my favourite switches the silent reds and the leds are amazing with or without the software I’ve had mine a year and a bit and there is no ware on it i have no complaints beside being outside my budget but its definitely worth i
