With the cost of welding gas now I’ve moved over to the gasless mig and although my welds aren’t as clean I’m certainly happy with them and the machine is more than capable.
I bought this with doubts.
How can you buy a Mig/tig/mma welder for under 150 let alone a decent one?
My doubts were worsened when it arrived. It is tiny!
I grumbled about it as I put in the wire, and set it up for a quick test and practice – before I started the job I bought it for.
My doubts fell away in use. This is great value for money, and I’ve just welded 8 off , 40mm mild steel tube to 8mm flat plate to start making up the balustrades for my front entrance stairway.
No real problems and although it might not be good for building battleships, it’ll come for anything I have to do.
I’m an ex engineer to trade, but haven’t welded anything for about 30 years but it came back right away like welding a bike
It worked straight out of the box , and the only niggle I have it the ground/ earth clamp – it’s too flimsy and has already bent. But I’ll replace that later. I’m Not taking off any points for that.
Comes with a couple of spare nibs and a wire brush, but unusually for these wee machines, no welders helmet. ( I bought one from Amazon , and that’s great too)
I used to have an old Draper Mig, a massive thing, which was temperamental, and having used this one, I Don’t have any regrets about buying it .. although I don’t know how long it will last, but I won’t be overusing or abusing it.
All in all , if it breaks down after this job, I’ve still saved about 1000 doing the job myself.
Great for small jobs and, in particular, completely unnecessary jobs that wouldn’t make sense to pay for. My son would have me welding every day if he got his way, and the homemade robot can’t be far off. Dead easy to use, compact and lightweight, and it will make a hobbyist of you.
HITBOX 3 in 1 Portable MIG Welder Gasless
The product is portable, and the manual is easy to understand. This welder supports MIG, TIG and ARC. With its MIG torch and wire provided, any newbie could start welding right away. MIG welding is recommended for big metal projects and doesn’t require gas, but what I am concerned with this is that the machine can only take up to 1kg of wire, so if you’re aiming for bigger projects, you ought to get a bigger welder.
The machine allows for TIG and ARC welding, but you’ll have to buy a TIG torch and a gas supply. TIG is suitable for cleaner and lighter projects and requires a certain amount of skill to avoid mishaps. With ARC welding, two metals could be welded together with just electricity, but more skill is required for successful welding.
A 30A and the above breaker will support this machine. You will also need protective gear while using the welder. With the inflation today, this will be a handy tool for working with steel projects that will save us tons of money!
It could have been better tho if it came with a user-friendly manual. Overall, this is a decent welding machine suitable for small DIY projects.
I got this welder as thought it would be really useful for so.e.small jobs I needed doing. I’m an absolute beginner to welding, having only played around with an old arc welder before.
The first thing I noticed on this product are the instructions which really are not clear for the beginner. Even the basics are not in the manual, like feeding in the the wire. There were no details on how to do this so it was down to common sense. Also how to plug in the earthing lead. Nothing in the manual on which terminal to connect to?
However after a little playing around I got both the arc weld and tig weld function to operate. I don’t have any gas so didn’t try the mig weld function.
The welder is handy if you don’t have any gas as it still allows you to weld.
I have not tried this out on several trial pieces just doing some spot welding and also seam welding and have to say its really easy to use and adjust the current. It really comes down to experience and practise as to how good the welds are, but for what I have done so far I can’t fault it.
Iys a pretty compact and light weight unit this simply plugs into a 240v supply and away you go.
I have given this 4 stars mainly due to unclear instructions.
Fantastic little lightweight welder ideal for DIY jobs or learning. Straight out the box just install and connect the reel of supplied flux core wire plus the earth cables. We have a classic car and some bits require professional welding and other much smaller bits we can now do ourselves as well as DIY jobs around the house/garden that would benefit from welding. A great price and will pay for itself after just a few jobs, really happy.
I like the size because it is very easy to storage and to handle.
I actually used it to build a derby car. I wielded from super thin to 1/2 inch thick metal. I was very surprised!
Me gusto su funcionamiento de trabajo y la uso en todo lo que necesito en la casa
I was kind of skeptical of buying but my father-in-law was going to buy another one for $150 so I decided to try this company out and this one out perform the one he was going to buy and for $150 I bought the welder the helmet 5 lb of welding rods .. I also bought some welding gloves for an additional $15 this little welder can pretty much do any job you need to do my father-in-law was a welder and he was really impressed on this little welder a lot of good reviews on it I also bought it on prime day
Great lightweight stick welder. Used it to weld some horseshoe art projects together. It seems to run 6013 3/32 rods better than 3/32 7018. Haven’t tried any other yet. Not hot start. Works pretty well for small jobs. Only used to on 110v so far.
Muy buen equipo de soldadura con todos sus cables y adaptadores listo para trabajar!!
Very good welding equipment with all its cables and adapters ready to work !!
This welder performs! Amazing power from a small light machine. Recommended electrode size is the largest thickness to work with but smaller diameter electrodes work great for most odd and ends jobs.
I wouldn’t buy this again if i was paid to. The darn thing quit working 1 day outside of the return warranty. And they won’t replace it. I wouldn’t waste my money in it.
This is surprising, an excellent small welder that I can be taken into the field that has a great arc. It lays down a nice strong bead.
I liked the quality of the welder. We plugged it in on 110v and easily welded a smooth spatter free weld with 3/32″ 7018 rod at 110 amps. Impressive, I’m a professional welder and proud to have this light weight and very portable machine.
My experience with the Hitbox Arc200 so far has been a good one. It is very light which makes it easy to carry around. From the test which I have done, it has been efficient enough to do some heavy duty welding. I have given it 4 stars because I haven’t used it for a full day to see its full potential.
Fired up some 7014 rods. Lays down a nice bead. Nice little unit and a nice little price !
