Update! The company reached out to me, and after I sent them a few pictures, they are replacing the unit!
Still not sure why it leaked and rusted out the circuit board, but they did take the initiative to make things better! They also asked that I keep them posted on how the replacement unit is working. For that, I have to give them great customer service recognition. I hope it works, because I really like this system. IF all goes well, I will change from star to 5!

LOVED this…grew herbs and lettuce so well…for about a year. Suddenly stopped working. Took it apart, and like another reviewer showed, the circuit board was completely full of water and rusting. I have several aero gardens, and take great care not to get anything wet when cleaning them…I never submerge them in water or anything like that. They are used inside my house in perfect conditions. I just recently purchased a second one, but will not purchase any more due to this problem.

I’ve had this unit for a couple of months and have done full set up and review videos on YouTube – look for Roses Allotment Adventures. It’s nice and neat on the kitchen worktop and the plants do well. The only slight downside is the light may have a loose connection as it flickers sometimes but a fiddle around usually fixes i

I’ve had this for over a year and have grown a few batches of herbs in it. It’s easy to startup, and easy to use.
A few things to note though – I almost tossed this over the weekend, why? I couldn’t get it to stop beeping to save my life. I read the faq it said to clean the water pump, which I did. I even went as far as to disconnect the whole thing to look at the circuit board to see if there was a short – but nope; it kept beeping. So after a few hours (I’m not exaggerating) of disassembling/reassembling and then having the beep stop only to start up again once it was in its preferred place, we started looking elsewhere within the unit.
That’s when we realized that the little floater thing that indicates the water level is low (with a beep) wasn’t floating even when the unit was full. We hypothesize that there’s a leak in the floater and that it’ll flat for a bit and then sink, thus completing the circuit to make it beep.
So, we got creative and we put a piece of a bamboo toothpick, cut to size, under the floater. The unit now works except it won’t beep for water level – and I’m ok with that. But the frustration was real for a while there. I’d recommend adding to your faq though, to look at the floater if your water pump is in clean, working shape and the beep still won’t stop.

This was my first time using an indoor hydroponics system.
The iDOO Hydroponics Growth system arrived well packaged and with no damage.

Within the box you have mostly what you need to get going: system, baskets, sponges (for putting seeds in, basket covers, nutrients and straws (although not referenced in the manual a quick internet search shows that these are for supporting your plants as they grow taller).

Obviously you will need to select seeds for what you wish to grow.

Setting up was relatively straightforward, however, the manual may not be clear enough for people with little to no knowledge (there is a Facebook support group that is quite helpful).
To get up and running you need to mix water in with nutrients A and B. The nutrients then get added to the water (measurements as directed) and water placed into the tank.
Next step add sponges into the baskets and then added seeds (manual recommends soaking seeds for an hour in warm water).
I then added the basket covers although the manual does not clarify this.
Once done fire up the power and the machine lights up and you are off.

Once running you then tell the machine when to power down for the night by pressing the power button until it registers. This will then turn off the unit overnight and power it up the following morning.

With the machine up and running the light can be quite bright and dazzling so consideration will be needed as to where you will keep it.

Within 2 days my seeds have started to germinate and seem to be growing quite well.

So far I would fully recommend this system as all appears to be working flawlessly, however, I will add to the review as more time passes.

The review has asked me to comment on thickness, warmth and sheerness.
Not really sure how any of these will help a perspective buyer but here goes:
Thickness – the system seems to be amply thick a d build quality is likely to hold up well
Warmth – I haven’t really noticed any warmth – LED lights don’t seem to generate much heat
sheerness -not really sure what I can write about sheerness for a hydroponics system

Overall I and very pleased with the system.
My only issue is the lack of information in the manual but as I say this can be bolstered by some internet searches or via Facebook groups.
System is very straightforward to use and so far is showing good results with no issues

I’ve wanted a self contained hydro unit for ages and finally decided to get one. Delivered on time and well packaged. Really simple to assemble and the instructions on use are clear and easy to understand. I was planted up in a few minutes with 3 different herbs and some chilli peppers. I bought the white one and it looks very slick and stylish.

The unit has 7 spots but they are a little too close together for full sized plants. If you were to just use it as a seed starter unit for later transplanting it would still be an excellent buy though. I intend to use mine as an indoor herb garden but I wanted to try a few chilli plants in it as well to see how they get on. 4 days in and the herbs have all germinated.

The water pump is very quiet, if you are sat close enough you can hear the faint sound of trickling water which is quite pleasant.

A couple of things to be aware of.. when adjusting the light height it is extremely easy to disconnect it which turns the unit off and resets the light timer. It is also possible to turn the unit off when adjusting the height as the power controls are on the top of the light unit so careful grip and placement of your hands is required. You then have to make sure that you manually turn the unit off at your preferred time and manually turn it back on early in the morning to get the light timer to run correctly which is annoying enough to make you determined not to make that mistake again.

The pellets for plant food A are quite large and take a long time to dissolve so it might be better to snap them in half or crush them first.

Overall I am delighted with my purchase and will definitely buy at least one more but I will probably go for the larger model to give me more options with growing some full sized plants.

The setup was pretty simple and didn’t take long. The timing for the different light settings took some trial and error, but that depends more on the surroundings and your schedule. Once everything was ready the growth came quick. Chives were probably the best thing to come out of it. They grew fast and tasted good! Be mindful of the seeds you try to plant, not everything will grow well. A minor downside is the regular tank cleaning that is needed to prevent any algae from getting out of control. Otherwise, the whole thing is simple, affordable and doesn’t look bad on a countertop.

Systeem werkt heel goed.

I was impressed by how easy it was to assemble and use. The results were great. I planted sunflowers, basil and lavender seeds. If I could change one thing, I would make the light warmer and less purple. I had to cover it with a blanket at night because it was so bright.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersOk so the idoo 7 pod arrived on time 12/09/2021, everything came with it to get you up and running, the plastic casing that covers the lights was bowed outwards, with enough room to poke your finger through, after I fixed that, everything ran perfect, my herbs were growing fast and well had to start raising the lid cause the tomatoes plant was growing fast, as was the red chilli plant among others, the automation was on at 8am and turns off at 22:00 at night, I was loving this product and growing my own resources buuuuut with a sad discovery this morning 24th/09/2021 the automation failed to switch on and the touch buttons dont work, I tried lower lid to lowest setting unplugged and re-plugged and lights not working, I can hear the pump thou, so definately not fuse problem.

    Update: 24th/09/2021

so as I hate not knowing why things break, I kept going over this product, after many times extending and lowering the light, I noticed at the bottom is a white plastic connected to metal arm, after 2 or 3 times pulling it out and back in, i finally got that much wanted bleep and everything is now working, I guess it can be temperamental when it’s time to raise the lid but I hope this helps anyone who has same problem, just double and triple check the bottom of the metal pole where the white plastic is, is pushed firmly down in place, a bleep will confirm it. Changed it from 3 stars to 5 stars

I really liked the size of the unit, the style of seed pods, and the adjustable light bar. The pump was pleasantly loud enough to hear when running. Sadly, the timer mechanism was faulty so it did not turn on/off where it was set. I bought another popular brand, but wish I still had the Idoo..

    Idoo IG201 hydroponics
Just add water and seeds to start growing hydroponically.
A good value and well made kit which is easy to assemble with the clear instructions and if needed the comments on Amazon and videos on YouTube are a great help too.
The pump is inaudible with just the slight sound of water trickling. The lights are very bright and the colour is a cool white which is good for plants but not ideal in a living room( there is an ENJOY setting that gives out a warmer white but it is not then great for growing)
I had a small issue with my unit but it was resolved very quickly after I emailed the seller. Excellent customer service.

To be perfectly honest I wasn’t expecting much from this growing system mainly due to the price being so low compared to other makes. However I thought I’d rather waste money on a cheap hydroponic machine rather than spend 200 + and find that hydroponic systems are rubbish. I have to say I am impressed, the photo shows the results after around 10 days growing from seeds. I was so impressed I also bought the 12 plant version as well! I would definitely recommend this system. I am looking forward to growing lettuce in the winter it’s going to be great having fresh leaves rather than rely on the supermarket bagged salad leaves

    So impressed

I have been ‘window shopping’ for a long time for a way to hydroponically grow some herbs and lettuces. But it needed to be E-A-S-Y and affordable. Plus, I have limited space in my tiny apartment. This was perfect for all of those needs.
Since I found out that my oldest granddaughter is into botany, I am seriously thinking about getting her one. It would be perfect for her bedroom, or at the end of the kitchen counter. She will love it!
So glad I found this one. Even my apartment manager commented on it in a positive way. Yay!

Ive only just got it so i cant comment on its efficacy but it was very easy to set up. It looks great, exactly like the sales pics. It reminds me of something you might see onboard a ship in a Ridley Scott movie. All this said, it completely ruins my lighting scheme. If, like me, you have splashed out a fortune on a smart lighting set up and like it soft in the evening then buy something else. But i guess you would have the same problem with any similar set up. I’ve only had it for a few days, but so far it’s been working great. A few of the herbs I “planted” are already sprouting!

I would have given it 5 stars, except for a small issue I have with the liquid plant food that came with the product. The instructions say to add 5ml for every liter of water in the tank. Since the tank holds 5 liters, that’s 25ml of the plant food. But the cup that comes with the plant food only goes up to 15ml, so you have to add twice – one 15ml and one 10ml. If they had made the cup go up to 25ml, people would only have to do it once instead of twice.

I had wanted to try one of these indoor gardens for awhile and finally decided on this iDOO model. The intial setup was very easy, preparing the nutrients, adding the water and planting the seeds only took about 30 minutes. I did soak the seeds ahead of time for an hour. After just a couple of days I can already see little sprouts starting so I’m very impressed. I was a little worried about how loud the pump would be, but it was so quiet I actually wasn’t sure if it was even working at first, but listening closely I could hear it turn on. I don’t sleep in the same room with the it, but I don’t think it would bother me if I did. I’ll try to add future updates once the growing progresses further, but so far everything has been great!

I got this to use as a small cloning machine. The light worked for about an hour. The way it connects to the base is with a headphone jack. Because of that it seemed to cause a lot of malfunctions. Also the on an off controls on top feel really flimsy. If your going to spend this kinda of money make sure you get one that works well. It was partially my fault because I didn’t read reviews. I’ve learned my lesson. It would be a great product if they built it better not with old headphone parts. Lol

Everything planted has grown quickly and easily enough. Plus I’ve put a few other plants nearby as well to benefit from the grow light which was a nice bonus. The lights have the same on/off timers as Christmas lights, I did have to unplug the unit and plug it back in to get the lights on a good schedule for me; A programmable timer would be an awesome upgrade. The only downside not sure if it was the sponges or the purified water but I did get a little algea which another review mentioned to use peroxide and a cotton swab, seems to work.
When your plants get bigger just make sure to check the water more frequently. It’s been nice to be able to use fresh herbs on pizzas and omelets so far. Would most likely get this brand again.

Just follow the directions and it will take care if the rest.

I purchased the hydroponic garden unit for my kitchen so I could have fresh lettuce and tomatoes year round. I am not much of a gardener but really enjoyed the system and how fast the lettuce grew and the tomatoes ( this is not the system but the type of tomato seed I used had bitter tomatoes- trying new ones)

My sister who is a gardener had been talking about wanting to try hydroponic gardening so I sent one to her as a gift and one to my son who lives in Hawaii where fresh vegies are expensive. My sister loved her unit and has started plants for her garden and grows herbs for cooking. Sadly, her unit lights turned grey, the next day blue and the unit stopped working.

We contacted the seller and provided a description of what happened along with pictures and they immediately apologized and sent my sister a new unit.

My sister was blown away by the amazing customer service as was I.

Thank you…. now to get some cherry tomato seeds that will make my salads sing with happiness

UPDATE: after reaching out to the company directly, they were awesome, attentive and totally understanding. They sent me a new unit within days. Really solid customer service.

I got this system on March 26, 2021. I’m a newbie to gardening, so I was extremely excited to try this. It was incredibly cool seeing growth in as little as one day, and I love that bugs aren’t an issue so much with the indoor system.
Anyway, the reason I’m giving it two stars is because all of a sudden the lights aren’t working well. They’re about half as bright as they were, and the system sometimes doesn’t turn on at all. This is a huge disappointment, seeing as I have tomatoes that are currently ripening and reliant on the light. This worked for a couple of months, but since the lighting system is not working how it should, I feel very disappointed. I would return it if I was still within my window.

This is a great gadget to have. This is the growth after just under two weeks. It’s been fascinating watching it. Every day something happens and it’s amazing to watch.
The light is very bright so have moved it away from the window, but it’s nice and quiet and quite soothing. Would highly recommend.

My herbs grew from seeds pretty quickly in this! After about a month, I had oregano, basil, and thyme, and another month or so later they were big enough to use. Some herbs took longer to grow to a usable size, and some didn’t grow well at all. But, I’d recommend this for basil, thyme, oregano, and rosemary.

    Pros:
    – Looks nice
    – Doesn’t take up too much counter space

    Cons:
    – The directions aren’t written clearly, and the light/pump modes aren’t easy to control accurately.
    – This worked TOO well for the basil, which quickly grew taller than the light heigh

    Effective for smaller herbs

I love this growing system. It’s really easy to use for the most part and can’t believe how quickly my little plants are taking off. I do not have a green thumb at all, I typically kill every plant I’m in contact with, but this set up makes it super easy to grow fresh lettuce and herbs. The downsides to this particular system are it can be a little tricky to figure out the lights and the only way I can check the water level is if I remove one of the pods which is a pain in the … However, I love the system so much I wish I could get two more but the price looks like it went up from when I made my purchase so it’s a bit cost prohibitive for me to create a collection. 🙁

Overall, this has been working well for me though I’m still on my first batch of seeds. It does have quite a bit of flexibility and it was a reasonably priced option. The top which holds the pods is a little bit flimsy and because it is difficult to move the light, it’s easy to shift or possibly break that top when adjusting the light. The light also has to be put in before the top is put back on which would have made sense if it was very strong but I think is a downside at this point. I’m considering a minor modification to allow the light to come in and out with the top in place.

I’ve been using $2 seed starting trays forever, but I decided to upgrade this year because I wanted to get seedlings going before the ground thawed.

Bought this, planted cilantro and green peppers – within two weeks I had seedlings which were viable enough to transfer to a bigger container using good old dirt.

The best thing about this is you can just set it and forget it. Add water, add seed, set the timers, add plant food and go.

My only wish now is that I had a much larger one of these with more slots so I could start more seedlings at the same time.

A+ product however. If you’re looking to start a small kitchen herb garden, this would fit the role perfectly. Absolutely no hassle.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhat a great Hydroponics Growing System! Very easy to set up & maintain & looks great on my kitchen counter. It arrived quickly & was packed securely! Everything except the seeds & water (ha ha) are included. I set it up on a Sunday afternoon & within a day I could see the seeds starting to grow. (I ordered seeds at the same time as the IDOO so they would arrive together.) A few days later, I could see my Basil (left), Romaine lettuce (middle) & cilantro (right) growing. (See pics.) I plan to purchase a 2nd one soon for tomatoes. And I also plan to purchase one for my mom since Mother’s Day is soon. I definitely recommend!

UPDATE: As I would adjust the height of the lights they would not come back on and have to be reset. Eventually, the lights stopped working completely. Sadly, everything started to die. I started again fresh and no seeds have sprouted. Of course, now it’s entirely too late to return and thus money down the drain! SOOO DISAPPOINTED. Wasted money on a gadget that worked for a few short months.

    Love this!

You know it works so good, your herbs could be 3 feet tall! The herbs need about at least a litter of water a day. 2 arugula, 1 buttercrutch lettuce, 1 dill, 1 parsley, 1 cilantro, 1 basil. They grow like crazy once they go! The only problem is the timer, runs about 30 minutes off a day. Set for 10 am comes on at 8.30 in 3 days, No biggie really. I like it, hope it lasts. Have fun!

If the pump quits, take it out of its holder and scrub it with a brush. It gets clogged with debris. Now it works again!

This is pretty cool, and you can grow all kinds of things. I have enjoyed growing herbs and then transplanting them into pots when they get bigger. The only thing I dislike is how incredibly bright this thing is. The clock in it is not very accurate and before long it is on all night and off all day. I put a towel over it at night, but it still lights up my entire kitchen to a blinding level, and with an open concept house you can see the light from every room at night- with the towel! I just ordered more seed pods and baskets- you need the extra baskets because if you want to transplant and not just harvest, you need to cut the basket to get the roots out. Luckily they are pretty cheap and not every plant has wide or extensive roots. I like it, but be aware it is incredibly bright.

Overall this product is clean, effective, and quiet. The pump isn’t load at all and the different light modes are great! I wish a couple of changes. #1 The ability for the lights to go higher. We love tomatoes but we’ll have to keep over-pruning to keep it within the high limits. #2 option to be able to program a custom lighting sequence. Plants need light to grow, but the shortest setting has too much of a harsh light and the other settings keep going off in the middle of the night. Overall however we’re happy with the purchase!

This is quite possibly the best product I’ve ever purchased. It keeps growing fresh herbs at hand, low maintenance. You fill the tank and put in your seeds— set it and forget it. The water in the tank lasts quite sometime and circulates on a timer. The lights also do the same! The light is telescoping, so it can be set up low for seed starting and moved up as your herbs grow. I’ll be looking for more of the dirt pods as I want to try to do some seed starting and planting outdoors. Highly recommended!

I’d been wanting to try one of these for a while but was a bit daunted by the price. I decided to try this one and it was much better than I expected.
I grew some identical seeds side by side with this on a north-facing window sill. The sprouts (I got this a month ago) in hydroponic garden are MUCH more advanced, thicker, and greener. I really appreciate the fact that you can use seeds purchased from anywhere rather than needing to buy seed pods from the company.
Lastly, I was a bit worried about the lack of one feature…it has no alert for low-water situations. However, in the month I’ve had it, it’s lost less than a liter of the 5-liter reservoir. I’m sure that in warmer months more water will be lost than now, but still, having to check the water every 2 months or so is simple enough that I’m no longer worried about it not having this feature.
Overall, it does what it says with a better price point and more flexibility than most competing products. I’d certainly recommend it for anyone who wants to give indoor gardening a try.

Yes, just like the great Rob Popeil cooker you set this and forget it! You just check to make sure the water is filled and every to weeks you add a splash of plant food. Cleaning out the water reservoir can get a little messy but all you have to do is wipe it down, fill it up and boom back up and running.
I will say this product puts out a TON of light. If you have this in an area you want to keep dark I would find somewhere else to put it! You could get a tan standing near it for too long. The pump is not loud at all. It sounds like your faucet may be running slightly but it isn’t anything obnoxious. I also used AeroGarden pods in place of the supplied pods. The AeroGarden pods had the seeds already in them. The only problem I ran into was the one hole in the middle of the setup has a bar running through it so I transplanted the sponge from the AeroGarden pod to the supplied pods and it worked great!
    Definitely recommend this product.

Works exactly as advertised! It looks attractive and was very easy to set up and easy to use. My seeds sprouted, and my plants are healthy and growing quickly. The pump is very quiet and I almost never hear it. The growth light is bright but I set it to match my Circadian rhythm, so there is no problem. My only complaints are that (1) there is no way to set the time, so the light timer starts when the planter is turned on, and I had to be sure to turn it on the first time right when I got up in the morning so that the cycle would be right; and (2) there is no way to be sure it is on during times when the light and the pump are off. Overall great product and a great value!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe product is easy to assemble and initial set up is quick. Ive had it for a week now and my cilantro has already sprouted. Thats pretty quick! There are small holes meant to hold support straws – i reccomend making them closed holes do that light doesn’t enter the tank. I’ll have to keep an eye out for algae growth. One other thing to note is the 3 button system is super confusing! I wish they had separate set of buttons for the lights and the pump system. Otherwise good first impression. Price is much cheaper than aerogarden.

Delivery was early, setup was fast, and my seeds are already germinating. Less than a week after placing my order and I already see green! It all happened so fast that I didn’t have time to purchase new seeds, but am trying some from previous seasons and they’re hanging in there. Once my seed order arrives, I may reassess what to grow in those spots, but too excited to wait for that to get here. Feeling like a kid in a candy store. If you need a little boost this spring that is fun and productive, this fits the bill.

The product looks great. I transplanted some pepper plants from the aero garden into this product. It has been a week now and they are doing great. The only complaint is the surface doesn’t sit flush to the base. The company has agreed to send a replacement surface. So far for the price I am very happy. Will buy another one.

The system was delivered quickly and everything is in order BUT it came with the European adapter, not the American one so now I have to spend more money. We were very pleased with the quality, ease of use setting up, supportability, and overall positive results, this hydroponic garden offered us. Growing fresh herbs and vegetables was one of our indoor projects and the IDOO product gave us the satisfaction, plus affordability, to make this happen without disappointment. We’re so happy with the original results from our first purchase, we’ve considered purchasing MORE of these products to display around our kitchen and provide all the natural growing herbs and vegetables to satisfy the whole family.

Thank you IDOO!!! We’re very grateful, and will tell all of our family and friends about your product.

So far, so good. It has been running for 6 days and I already see green growth for 3 out of 6 herbs/lettuce planted. Great packaging and nice design. The only issue I have is with lack of directions regarding the functionality of the buttons. I am running it on the grow button but have no idea if that is correct and when or whether to change to one of the other 2 buttons. I’ve seen comments about it not working. I have not had that problem but I noticed after my husband fiddled with the lamp, that if the lamp ‘rod’? ‘pole’? is not inserted firmly down to its connection, the light will not work. So far it is a good product. I may be sending this out as a gift in the future.

Let me start by saying I am NOT a gardener. I want to be, but always struggled. I really wanted fresh herbs during the winter and was interested in hydroponics so I gave this a try. It worked great! My only complaint is that the instructions for which light setting and height to use were not great. I had to guess a bit there. But they grew great. 6 of the 7 herbs I tried are all growing perfectly. Mint was the only one that failed, but could have been the seeds. I do wish there were instructions for how to transfer these in their pods into a planter. As you can see we are quickly outgrowing this unit! For reference, these have been growing for exactly 4 weeks now.

I love that this IDOO system has the ability to grow seven plants. Set up was very easy, I didn’t need to read the directions in order to set up. They utilized the space in the water tank as storage for the power adapter, food, seed baskets, and peet inserts. With this product you’re given the ability to grow what you want, right out of the box unlike their competitors product where you’re sent prepackage see pods and you have to order what you want separately at an added cost. I’m planning on starting my plants in this IDOO system and transferring some at a later time. My first system was a competitors, I’ve had this system for a shorter period of time and much happier with the IDOO system.

I bought this growing system as a holiday gift. It’s easy enough to set up and worked with varying success. Some of our seeds sprouted right away, but some ultimately did not and we had to replant. Also, the sponges don’t have much depth in the top where you’re supposed to plant the seeds. This doesn’t matter much for all of the herbs we planted, but for some that are more fragile, like our dill, they started to droop over because they weren’t planted deep enough. Overall, it’s much cleaner than a traditional pot/planter setup.

I have several other of the more expensive hydroponic units and wanted to see how this compares. So far I find this one to be just as good for significantly less $ investment! One really nice feature is the light unit unplugs completely. This is nice since, as things grow, you do have to clean the base and filter which requires taking everything apart along with growing plants. I especially like how easy it is to set things up. Fill up the base with water and nutrients, get your own seed packets from the garden center, drop a few in the growing pods, and watch them grow. I have read that hydroponics don’t transplant to soil well but have not found that to be true so I am planning on transplanting everyone outside next spring and starting a new indoor herb garden. So nice having fresh indoor herbs at arms reach

It was fun watching the plants grow. They grew and grew, and grew! I have used the Hydroponic growing system to grow fresh herbs in the spring and summer. Now I’m going to try growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce this winter. My daughter saw it and wants one for her own. She loved the fact that I have fresh herbs on hand for cooking. And the fragrance the plants give off is so therapeutic. The only thing I didn’t like is the bright light. It has a very bright light. So program the light, with a touch of a button, to come on when the brightness is not to disturbing to you or others. And, the Hydroponic will let you know when to add water and vitamin to your system for healthy plants . Enjoy!

I am a pretty experienced and involved gardener in the summer months, but in Minnesota that means a very short growing season. I have experimented with mid winter grow lights and windowsill growing.

I have to say that this hydroponic kit is excellent, especially for the price. For example, I was at a local store that sells a lot of gardening equipment and they had an aerogarden with the same foot print and features for literally twice the cost.

I’ve only started seeds a few days ago, but my lettuce and basil are already sprouting. I have to note that I also use my own cultivated seeds as well, so I will dive updates as to how they work out on this kit.

    PROS:
    -Easy to set up
    -Very small footprint
-Comes with extra sponges and plenty of grow fertilizer
    -Really inexpensive for the quality

    CONS:
-Instructions are confusing but there’s a lot of using common sense involved in setting this up, so it’s not a big deal.

Item arrived, has everything except for seeds, works as expected – but the instructions are terrible and may leave the user confused and frustrated. Had to view multiple YouTube videos in order to answer most of my questions. Portion of the manual that describes how to turn on and select operational options are completely wrong or at least incomplete. Still for the money – seems to be a solid purchase.

    Summary
I bought 2 units and been using them for 2 months. This project is doing a good job while the usability can have some improvements. See my comment below.

    Pros
    1. Easy to setup. Manual are simple and instructions are clear.
    2. LED light has great range of setting. It can be very low for sprouts and very high for basils or chilies
    3. Easy maintenances. Just add water and plant food biweekly.

    Cons
    1. No water level indicators. From the filling hole you cannot tell where the water are until it is overfilled.
    2. LED height adjustment is tricky. Since the power delivery is through a 3.5mm headphone jack (weird), it is easily pop-out when you pull up the LED pillar.
    3. The timing control of the LED is tricky. It is kinda complicate and not clear about what each mode provides.

    Great value. Need some improvements

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe headline says it all. I really wanted to love this, but sadly it was defective. Setup was very easy. I had no problems following the instructions and it looked so nice in my kitchen. But….. A few hours after getting it all set up, I heard a pop sound from my kitchen. When I went in to check, I had nutrient water running off my kitchen counter from the grow system. The IDOO grow system leaked on the bottom where the compartment that has the control board and the electrical plugin is.

I have asked for an exchange and will give it another try, hoping I just was unlucky and just got a bad unit. Will update this review as to what happens with it.

UPDATE: Replacement arrived the next week and the new one has been up and running for 2 weeks. No leaks and it works beautifully. I was able to save my previous seeded pots and put them into the new unit. So from seed starting to 3 weeks I have beautiful herbs 1/2 to 2 inches tall.

Update: 7 weeks in and loving this morning and more every day. So amazing to cook with your own home grown herbs, and my kitchen smells great! The dill, basil and parsley have grown the fastest and I often trim them. Mint, lavender and rosemary took longer but they are all coming up now and it’s amazing to see. Love this product!!

I have never been successful in growing anything. This is the first time I’ve had success! Simple to set up…and thank you for all the reviews about the directions. Really helped with getting things off to a good start. Bought the seeds that came recommended with this product. Now only 3 weeks in and have already enjoyed adding some of my new herbs to salads and meats! Amazing…super cool to have this as we head into colder weather. Fresh, beautiful, tasty and makes your kitchen smell yummy. Some seeds take longer to start growing than others, but everything I’ve seeded (apart from lavender) has been successful. Kids and I love seeing the growth from day to day- super great investment.

So great to pick Delicious herbs right from your counter!

This product was easy to use and the plants grow fast! The set up instructions were confusing when putting in the minerals as the instructions said use A or B when it wants you to use both. My hydroponic set came with a broken piece but it was still able to use without any trouble. I was skeptical on how well the plants would grow but they grow fast. The light has three different modes and is adjustable. The light is bright to replicate the sun. Over three weeks, the plants sprouted to having colorful leaves. The water will circulate occurs frequently and will make slight noise. I have not changed the water and will do that in 2 weeks. I personally prefer outdoor gardening but at my apartment we do not have a backyard and this is a good substitute. It is pretty cool to see how the plants grow in a day! This hydroponic system is low maintenance and will require you to order more minerals to continue the lifespan of your plants. Over time, this can increase the costs of your indoor hydroponic system. If you are looking to get started into indoor hydroponics, I would recommend this product but will be costly. I am currently growing jalapenos & bell peppers.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersOverall, this system works pretty well. The cons are its a bit pricey and the instructions are difficult to understand. On the other hand, it works very well if you just plug it in and turn it on. All seeds I planted genrminated the very next day. They grow an inch or two in a few days. The first plant I tried wasa marigold. It developed lush foliage within a week!

One annoying thing is that there is no clock. So, if you lose power, and then the power comes back, the on-off cycle will restart. This means it will stay on for 12 hours from the time you got power. I think there is feature to force off-mode but the instructions aren’t clear

The pump is very quiet. I think there is a feature to turn off the pump at night, but the instructions to enable it aren’t clear, and I didnt find a need to turn it off
You can’t easily see now much water is left in the tank. I wish they provided a transperant window

This system is easy to set up and looks nice in the room. The adjustable light height allows you to ensure maximum light intensity for seedlings and adjust as they mature. The height is enough for larger plants to grow as well. Two smaller downsides, the max fill mark is hard to see when there are plants growing. Had to make a mark in a more visible area so I did not have to disturb the plants. Also the height adjutant for the lamp is not very smooth so it feels like it sticks a little at times. All in all a good home growing solution that adds a little warmth to a room.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersYes, I am having fun with this kit. I am enjoying watching the fast-growing, healthy plants.

I have been wanting to do hydroponics for years. I put it off until this summer. I tried some DIY versions. I did an outside hydroponic with lettuce, but all the roots rotted; I think it was too hot because we live in the desert. Before I got this hydroponic kit, I also did some Kratky hydroponic method for indoor basil, parsley, and sage. The purple basil grew over the months, but there was no purple. While, it was still totally edible, it had no purple color. With my DIY hydroponics, I was wondering why everyone said hydroponic grew so fast. Now, with this kit, I have seen my plants grow fast! It is amazing how fast the plants are growing!

The difference must be the lights. I think that the water being stirred up helps too, but I still think it has everything to do with the lights. The purple basil that I started from seed in the Hydroponic kit is purple as ever, which has a lot to do with the lights. The traditional basil is taking off like crazy in less than a month it measures about 11 inches tall! Compared to the basil that I started indoors in potted soil, the hydroponic is more than double in height and looks a lot healthier with bigger, darker green leaves and many more leaves too. The other thing I notice is how healthy the pepper plants leaves look; they are a dark green color. I have the same plants growing outside in soil and they are green, but not that dark of a green color and the leaves are smaller in size. I also was impressed at how fast the rooting took place with this hydroponic kit. That might be attributed to the nutrient solution that came with the kit. The rooting on my other DIY hydroponic attempts was much slower.

What I like about the hydroponic kit:

It has everything except the seeds to get you started. It was very low stress in setting it up, which made it fun to do. There is very little that has to be done. You check the water from time to time and add water with nutrient solution. The telescoping light is great because you adjust it as the plant gets bigger. The pump that is used is a common item that is used for fish tanks that isn’t too difficult to exchange for a new one. I like that I will be able to use this for a long time.

What could be better about the kit:

The instructions are a little confusing to understand when it comes to turning on the different light cycles. I am still a little bit foggy on how the lighting cycles work. You can have all white light cycle. Then you have have white and red light cycle and also a blue light cycle. I have more to learn about grow lights and what are the benefits to the different color lights. I suspect that some plants need moonlight too and maybe the blue light might mimic this?

I wish there was a transparent water line indicator like there is on a coffee pot so I don’t have to disturb the roots to take a peak at the water level all the time. Even still, I like looking at the roots, it is so amazing how many roots there are on these plants! I might put a floating bob where the water is poured in and have a stick indicate how much water is left.

    Other thoughts:

The size of the unit is not overly big, which means that you can’t grow giant plants. If you do, you’ll have to prune them to keep them from getting too big. The planter pot that holds the water measures about 14 inches x 5-1/2 inches x 5-3/4 inches tall. The distance between the top of the planter box to the bottom of the LED light fully extended measures about 12-3/4 inches.

At first I thought the price for this was a bit steep. Then I looked into the wish list of features that I would have loved to have in the perfect world. Well, the competitor has it, but it is over $300! I just couldn’t imagine spending that much for a table top hydroponic planter. I think at that price I would do something else. The grown light, pump, nutrient solution, and inserts that come with this kit make it a fair value. When you start adding up all the costs it is pretty reasonable in price. I think that this is a great way to start with hydroponics.

The container is pretty to look at and I have put it on the table to enjoy it. I think it could be a great way to grow some flowers in the house. I’m using it to grow herbs and pepper plants.

Living in the desert makes it very challenging to grow stuff outside. Between the extreme heat, the lack of rain, and the wildlife that wants to eat everything that I have grown, hydroponics is a great alternative. I think that indoors hydroponics are better since I had trouble with it being too hot outside.

The seeds I used are pretty old. Some of them are 10 years old. The Basil that took to task of growing like crazy was about 4 years old. Younger seeds would help in increasing the growth of the plants. So even though I used old seeds, I still am seeing some great results. Yes, hydroponics is hands down a great way to grow plants fast and big.

Would I recommend this kit to other? Absolutely Yes. I like the quality of the grow light, I like the ease of setting it up. It has all the timers built into it so it will cycle through the lights and churn the water to keep your plants happy.

The hydroponic kit is fun, but can also be a practical way to grow plants all year long.

Well priced and the lights appear to be working quite well for the plants. Smooth exterior and very space efficient. An excellent product so far. Time will tell how long it lasts. The automatic light settings are effective and a good feature to have. The plant caps it comes with are a useful accessory in growing new seedlings. The adjustable light height is also very useful and works well enough. Overall a very good product and would recommend to anyone who wants to get started with indoor hydroponics.

Everything started up great! I like that it has dirt pods vs having to buy dedicated seed pots like some of the other products. The pump is quiet. I can’t hear it at all. I do wonder if that will change as it wears. My friend has a competitor product and say this one is a great comparison. The light is very bright! My friend said that’s no different than theirs. Probably why I can’t grow plants indoors in the winter! For the price I am pleased with what I got. I will post an updated review once I get my seeds in and they start sprouting. The instruction booklet was clear and it came with a quick start guide. I can’t wait to have fresh herbs in the house during winter!

The box has everything you need to start your plants except the seeds. Instructions were somewhat difficult to understand but common sense helped. The stand is attractive and doesn’t take up alot of space. I thought I ordered the black one, the box indicates black, but my product was white. I have all my seeds planted so fingers crossed they grow for me!

I’ve been wanting to bring gardening inside for year-round harvests and this little gem is doing the trick! It was easy to set up and I had sprouts within 3 days of hands-off gardening. The item comes with pods, lids for each pod to use until the seed sprouts, two bottles of fertilizer, and easy to use directions.
    Pros:
    Easy to set up
    Bright light with three settings
    Quiet while pumping water
Comes with all you need (no seeds)
    Inexpensive
    Compact

    Cons:
The lid is a bit flimsy to move (sets up fine)
    Haven’t found pod refills yet

    6 month update:
After trial and error, I think I’m having some success with this model. The lights however, are turning off at random times and has to be reset several times a week. I don’t have a number or email to contact to try to correct this.

Great way to bring the garden indoors!

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersI have wanted to try a hydroponic garden for a long time now, but just hadn’t found reason to do so, until I recently realized what a short life dill and cilantro have outside. I thought this would be perfect for keeping fresh herbs on hand. I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg, so the IDOO was a great choice.

As you can see from my first picture, it comes with everything you need to get started the first time around, and was very easy to set up. My only “warning” is to not plug the unit in to test the lights without water, or the low water alarm will go off…for a second I thought my unit was broken!

I “planted” some seeds that were about a year old on 08/07, and crossed my fingers that they’d sprout. The cilantro is slow going, but as of today (08/25), all my seeds have sprouted except the one pod of cilantro.
I have only used the “grow” light mode so far, but once all three herbs are growing well, I’ll probably switch it over to normal.

I’m really pleased with how compact the unit is (measures about 13.75″ x 5.5″), the adjustable light height, how easy it was to set up, and how quiet the pump is. Overall, I’m super excited to be able to have fresh herbs when the weather gets cooler!

Great Option for an Herb Garde

Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersI have to admit that I was not quite convinced by my ability to grow anything, based on known level of patience (very low) and previous experiences (pretty unsuccessful). But this system looked easy enough and since there’s not much else to do in these pandemic days, i thought “why not”…
The device arrived quickly (Thanks Prime), is very easy to set up and has a nice design (the black one looks even slicker but was out of stock).
You get the hydroponic system, 2 bottles of nutrient solutions, about 10 pods of “soil” (you need 7, the rest is if you want to plant something else some other day) but NO seeds. You have to purchase them separately. I bought an assortment of herbs, to start with.
The system is quite straightforward to use, with 3 different lighting/water-pump modes (12, 14 or 16 hrs of activity) The user manual is clear enough to help you set things up properly but if you have no natural green thumbs – like me – you will have to search online to understand the best way to plant / water / take care of your seeds and baby plants.
The water pump is very quiet, the LED lights are quite powerful (even in normal mode) so do not put it in your bedroom at night if it’s lit up…
After only 2 days of planting, to my delight, some of my seeds were already germinating. And 4 days later, most of them are. So at this stage of the process, i am very pleased with my purchase and new hobby of indoor gardening. Let’s see how long it lasts – and if i can actually eat some of my own herb production at some point …

I think i just got myself a new - and useful - hobby

This was pretty simple to set up and it works! The pump motor is quite, all you hear is a light trickle of water for a short period of time. The LEDs are super bright! I’ve had to move it a few times to find a spot that wouldn’t disturb my pets with the light.

The light tower plugs into the unit with just a jack plug. If you pull the neck to extend without holding the base down, it will unplug the lights. There is no latch or lock to keep this from happening.

The plants are growing great and it’s cool to see the roots growing in the water!

    Easy, Quiet, BRIGHT

The iDOO indoor LED Hydroponic System was carefully packaged inside of the box and no items were damaged. The design is sleek and the color will match in any setting. all items in the box were clearly labeled and the directions are easy to follow. It’s also really easy to register the indoor LED-LED hydroponic system and make sure that you are covered by the warranty. If you’re looking to get started with indoor hydroponics, I would recommend trying this product.

I have an aerogarden, so I was excited to try this product because it’s sold at a much more affordable price point. Set up was relatively straightforward, the 2 major differences here is that you need to buy and sow your own seeds, and there are two bottles of plant food instead of one.

    The Pros:
    – 3 different modes (14/10, 12/12, 16/8)
    – 7 pod slots
    – Aesthetically pleasing

    The Cons:
    – Extendable arm on the light is rigid
    – Device makes a noise when water level is low, but I’d prefer a light indicator with no noise

Overall, this indoor grow garden is great especially at it’s price point. I’ll update this review once my seeds have sprouted!

Tip: The manual might be a little confusing, email them and ask for the e-manual if you’re having any trouble understanding the paper manual it comes with.

I’ve been interested in growing my own fresh herbs, but living in a condo limits my ability to plant a garden. This kit was the perfect solution. I’m not an experienced gardener, so the jury is still out on how well this little project goes. I did, however, find the setup to be easy to do and the instruction manual was very easy to follow. The system is a decent size and I can grow several different herbs at once without taking up to much counter space in the kitchen. I have a lot of appliances, so this was the most important feature to me overall. I’ll be back to update this review with pictures once I get some growth out of the seeds that I planted.

I received my iDOO Hydroponics Growing System a little over a week ago. Since then I have been happy with the results even though I was initially a bit skeptical.

The unit came nicely packaged. The box contained the unit, AC adapter, nutrients, grow plugs, grow plugs, domes, and instruction manual/card.

The setup was very simple. Fill with water, add nutrients, install baskets and plugs (I would recommend wetting the plugs first), add seeds or plant clones, top seeds with domes. There are 3 light settings on the unit and it runs on a timer for convenience. There are 2 for vegetative growth and 1 (12/12) for flowering or fruiting. I think the pump also comes on intermittently to help circulate the water and nutrients. The lights seem to be ample so far and the spectrum changes depending on the light mode. I really like the fact that the setup was simple, the fit and finish are good, and the growing system was well thought out.

If I do have one complaint, the instruction manual was not very good. There are discrepancies with the setup, and I wish they explained the different light cycles and the appropriate time to use them. It tells you to plug the unit in before adding water. When plugged in with no water the low water indicator goes off emitting a continuous long beep until unplugged or filled. There is also a card that comes with the unit that tells you not to do this with risks of burning out the pump, but they should change the manual to reflect the actual setup process.

One of the things I intended to use the unit for was to clone some of my vegetables and other plants. After just a week I had some pretty good roots on my basil cutting. Some of the seeds also have sprouted enough where I can remove the humidity dome. This unit did produce good results and I am hopeful to have some new fresh herbs along with using this as a cloning chamber to start plants in the garden.

    Great for Indoor Gardening

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersUpdate: I added a photo of my plants at the 3 week mark. The arugula and basil have grown the fastest. It took longer for the cilantro and rosemary to sprout, but both are growing now. Now that the plants are bigger, the water needs to be refilled more often. There is supposed to be an alarm that goes off when the water needs refilling, but mine hasn’t gone off even when I notice the water level is low, so keep an eye on your water level periodically.

Original post: I ordered this hydroponic garden as a fun project for my kids, and so far we are really enjoying it! The garden comes with everything you will need EXCEPT seeds, so make sure you order seeds that do well in hydroponic gardens. The instructions are pretty high level, so it helps to read the questions/answers section on Amazon before you begin. For example, the kit comes with little plastic caps that should go over the sponges until the seeds sprout, but that isn’t mentioned in the instructions. However, I was able to get all of the information I needed between the instructions and the Q&A. The LED lights are really bright, which you want for growing the plants, but make sure you keep your garden in a location where that won’t bother you.

So far, I’m on Day 2, and both of my Arugula plants have already sprouted. I also planted basil, cilantro, and rosemary, so I’m looking forward to those sprouting in the next couple of days!

So far the grower was easy to set up and keep running. The instructions were not prefect but there is an e-manual that fills in the gaps. The buttons are a little weird and I’m hoping they will be changed in the next design. This is my first grower like this so i don’t really know how it compares to other products. I appreciate that it had everything I needed to get started except seeds. I’m trying out herbs and I already have sprouts. If this works out I’ll be getting a second for more gardening.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI have always wanted to dabble in hydroponics but never quite pulled the trigger. I have yet to reap the benefits of this system but overall I am impressed.

I have always kept my eye on the Aerogarden but this growing systems seems to offer everything that the Aerogarden does at a slightly lower price point.

It is very compact and has three schedules for lighting (12/14/16 hrs). I comes with two types of plant food, pods, little clear domes, and soil.

I currently live in the city and the planting options are sparse and I get limited sunlight in my yard. This will hopefully help me grow herbs which I uses regularly for cooking.

This system has an alarm that will sound if the water level is too low which is nice. My only complaint is that the light is a little low but looking at the product description again I have not extended to the second arm. If that is the case then 12+ inches would be more than adequate for herbs.

This growing systems does feel a little plastic-y (cheap) but I think it is plenty sturdy for what it is intended to do.

As far as first impressions go, I would recommend this growing system. Just make sure you have a good location for it as the LEDs are super bright!

I will update this review when (hopefully) I harvest from this growing system.

Golden Review Award: 58 From Our UsersI received my growing system just over a week ago, and so far everything is working quite well. I have no major complaints, but I’ll touch briefly on anything I’ve noticed!

    Pros :
    Very simple setup
    Looks nice
Build quality is good for the price
The automatic light timing and power is very convenient for a busy lifestyle
    Plants growing happily so far

    Cons :
The manual had a few typos here and there, but was perfectly understandable for me.
HOWEVER There was an E-Manual which was perfectly clear, in case the paper manual wasn’t enough!

I’ll update my review with anything new that comes up, and maybe some more mature plant photos when the time comes!

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersThe product came in an appropriate sized package which is a major plus. All of the accessories seen in the picture above include: plant food, seed soil, holders for soil, the power plug, and caps for unused growing spots (Note: Seeds are NOT included). These are all stored inside of the device as not to get damaged in shipment.

This is a pretty sizeable device and fits adequately under my kitchen cabinet even when the light is extended fully.

If you are wondering whether AeroGarden pods will work in this, they do fit but the middle slot has a support bar that blocks it. You need to transfer the seeds to the supplied soil / holder.

I am currently growing a chili seed pack I got on Amazon and will report back after my success.

    Great Device Comparable to AeroGardens

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI am in love with little indoor garden. The design is sleek and functionality is great. What I like about is the smart light cycle – the lights can turn on (18 hours on/6 hours off) for growth stage, 12/12 hours for mature stage, etc. LED light also has proportionate blue and red lights to promote plant growth. The water pump runs intermittently throughout the cycle which allows oxygen at the root level. The cons are very minor, the instructions says to clean the tank monthly, but there is no picture on the manual or video how to remove the pump before cleaning. The Height measurement marker would be nice on the LED light stand, for now, we will be eyeballing the height to start the seeds. All in all, I love the functionality it provides and it’s sleek design. Have started the seeds, let’s see how it goes. If anything change in the future, I will update the reviews.
