This is a really good unit, cools my loft apartment perfectly. The hose is a little on the large size so not attractive in a room.
It’s quite noisy at night but a small price to pay for a cool nights sleep.
Great product, keep my room lovely and cool as my room is big . Great value for money .
Picked up in time for the 40c heatwave, cooled a large room to 22c. A little noisy, but have heard worse.
Kept us cool, it is loud, but if you like being cool it won’t matte
Very impressed, only had it a day so can not comment on any thing long term , but cools the room , nice little unit
I don’t understand the complaints of noise it’s not that bad , less noise then my big fan I was using
Compact easy to store
Be nice if you could have a hepa filter installed not just a metal mesh ,
But it’s great little machine and for the price I don’t know why you would pay 2x as much for other devices.
Update
After running over the heatwave, I’m little disappointed in the cooling ability,
Seems week for an AC device and definitely not 8000BTU
I’ve had better AC units in the past but for the price I don’t think you can complain but it’s AC ability is week
It is a little loud, BUT it gets our south facing bedroom cold really quickly. If you’re the kind of person that likes to have the windows open in winter, but despises summer, this is the unit for you.
This is a great little air conditioner. It really punches above its weight and yet it’s so small. Fits in anywhere with a small space amd has wheels to hellp moving. Comes with hose, window connecter (but for sliding windows, not the typical old British type that open outwards) and remote control. I actually used the box it came in to make a temporary window cover and popped the hose through that, although you could just hang the hose out of a window. Works great. 🙂
Cools a small to medium room down by a good amount after 30 minutes of use, and being just over 800watts, uses less electric than many of the other ones.
Has dehumidifier function and normal fan function.
All works great, a little noisey, but not bad, and you can control the air con fan speed and knock it down a little bit. You can adjust the grills at the front blower to direct the air travel. I like it.
Great machine. Fast delivery, great price and first class seller. Thanks!
Bought because of dehumidifier and the air con was a bonus. Both functions work very well and though the noise is off putting it is not so bad as to mark down. Well worth the investment especially with far hotter summer days and damp winters.
I have mine set up in a small room that gets quite warm, and it has been a joy to have during some of the very hot weather. Made sleeping actually possible. It does its job well enough for a bedroom or maybe home office room, and is great if you’re able to set it up so that you’re sitting right next to it.
It does have some annoying shortfalls however;
The vent hose it comes with is a bit too short to reach windows that only open at the top, and I needed an extension.
It makes a LOT of water when it’s on cool as well as when on dehumidify. Obviously this is part of the normal operation of the thing, but the internal tank seems to be too small or too badly sealed, because it tends to leak water an hour or two after it is started if you try to rely just on the internal tank. I now have it set up with a hose (which it doesn’t come with) and a separate water tank. If I run it all day in hot weather it’s producing about 10-15 litres of water a day. So be prepared for that.
It’s a fairly noisy little thing, but not much worse than a large fan of the same sort of size, it doesn’t really bother me but some might find it irritating. There’s a “sleep mode” that doesn’t seem to do anything at all as far as I can tell, it certainly doesn’t make it quieter.
Overall it has its little hang ups, but I would much rather have it than do without.
Order was delivered by DPD within 2 days, 1 day earlier than predicted by Amazon. I’m using it in the bedroom which is 4x4m. It comes with a 15x165cm corrugated exhaust tube, an extendable grey plastic window fitting approximately 10cm wide and up to approx 160cm long, and a plastic fitting which converts the end of the exhaust hose from a 15cm circle to (again, approx) a 25x8cm rounded rectangle. So basically for a side opening window, you need it open by about 4 inches and you’ll have to find a way to waterproof the top and bottom to prevent rain getting in.
The unit itself is actually quite stylish, and although it’s 71 cm tall including castors, the footprint is actually quite small at around 30x30cm. I would recommend standing it on some kind of rubber mat or expanded polystyrene to reduce the floor vibration. It is quite heavy at 23kg, but manageable as a 1-man lift. Also, as another reviewer has mentioned, it’ll need to be pretty close to the window because the exhaust hose isn’t that long.
Another thing to bear in mind is that it can’t be backed up to a wall because both the exhaust hose and the intake vents are on the back, so it’ll need 20cm behind it if you bend the hose at 90 degrees as it exits the unit.
In terms of cooling efficiency, it’s brilliant. It has dehumidifier/fan only options but I haven’t tried them yet. The fan is very powerful, and as again mentioned by others, there’s not a lot of difference in noise between full fan and night mode. The minimum temperature is 16 degrees, but 20 is comfortable. It cools my 16sqm room within an hour, and keeps a constant 21 overnight.
The on-board controls are simple and effective – from the left, 1) Timer (hours until on or off) 2) Fan speed (High/Low) 3) Temp up 4) Temp down 5) Sleep 6) Mode (Aircon, Dehumidifier, Fan Only) 7) Power On/Off. There’s a big green LED screen that shows room temp when the unit is off, and desired temp when it’s running (whilst in aircon mode)
Remote control takes 2x AAA batteries and has the same functions
Pros:
– Does what it’s supposed to – cools the room
– Good price
– Efficiency rating A so not going to be too expensive on electric bills
– Looks stylish
– Powerful fan
– Reasonable footprint
– Good functional controls on both unit and remote
Cons (suggestions for improvement):
– Timer only does one on or off. Although if you unplug it while running and then plug it back in it’ll start running again, so you could potentially use a 24hr plug timer. I take no responsibility if this damages your unit.
– Hose could do with being 2.5 or 3m rather than 1.65m
– Window kit could do with being adapted to side-opening windows (ie include triangular top and bottom sections – difficult since windows vary in width, I guess) rather than just being for sash windows
– Instruction manual could include some detail on how to install window kit
Overall though
It works well, cools the room very well. But it is very noisy
I have loved it in the hot weather, and even today, I have it on to give me a breath of fresh air in my office. Highly recommended.
its a life saver though its pretty noisy, don’t care, it keeps the up stairs coole
Unless you are able to position this directly under a window, the hose is likely to be too short – about 1.5m long at full extension. We’ve had to buy an extension from Ductsore and fashioned our own window seal as the supplied one is also useless.
It’s also fairly noisy but I have nothing to compare it to. Let’s say you wouldn’t want it in your bedroom at night. Otherwise all good.
It’s not that noisey. …it does cool your room well.
The AC unit works great, however, there are a few kinks with the unit. First off, it doesn’t have water drain hose pipe, which makes it awkward to drain the water without it leaking everywhere. Second, the instruction manual is not the easiest to follow because there are a set of screws that are meant to be fitted but it is not mentioned on the manual, instructions are not up to Ikea standards but is manageable with some guessing.
Overall though, I love being cold on a hot summer’s day and this does the job!
It sounds like the engine room of a battleship – I give it five stars for noise level because it makes five stars worth of noise. If you want a quiet machine of equivalent cooling performance it will cost you 2-3x the price.
Also it remembers whatever setting you put it on – so you can turn it on and off with home automation systems and hook it to, say, a homekit thermometer to cool the room automatically.
Seems ok but not really going to know until the summe
Ok for a medium size room but is quite noisy. No difference in fan speeds. Recommend getting a extension kit for the rear hose.
very efficient but a bit noisier than expected, hard to sleep when running.
This works great cooled the whole house down (bungalow) in no time at all so happy to have bought this air co
Pros – cools fast and has long hose
Cons- noisy on full pelt but you get used to it and the hose takes some getting used to.
As we had a really hot summer, this was the most perfect purchase ever! Whilst its a bit noisy it sure does the trick. So impressed, I’m going to make hole through wall, so permanent feature. As it has small “footprint” it doesnt take up too much space.
Love it!
works great keeps my office cool over the summer, just a bit of DIY needed to sort out the exhaust hose but i did expect that.
Works brilliantly, very easy to set up and keeps the room very cool for flowers that I am working with during the hot weathe
*EDIT – SUMMER 2019*
So as originally stated I was going to return this product, but due to the heatwaves we continued to have last year I decided to keep it. And I don’t regret it. Yes, it’s very noisy but if you’re after a reliable aircon unit that continues to this day to be ice cold, then the noise is worth it. Upped to 4 stars.
I put this on for an hour before bed with the door shut and the room is nicely cool by the time I get into bed. Not really useful for large rooms unfortunately but it produces lovely cool air and keeps me comfortable.
