Exactly as expected, great value, not used yet but very happy, one very small nut used to hold the guard in place was missing, however not a problem as very easily fixed.
The only thing that would have made it better would have been a vice, however they are cheap enough to buy.
I bought on the reviews already posted, the ones with the vice included were not as good on reviews.
Will update my review when I use it.
I would recommend this drill press, for any amateur mechanics/ garage/ workshop.

I bought this to replace my very old craftsman drill, wow what a difference, the new one is lighter, definitely more portable, quieter and smooth to use. Nice clear depth gauge. I’m really pleased I bought this drill.

Arrived with a damaged box but was not damaged. The base had a small amount of rock so i sanded the base on a flat glass plate with sanding paper glued to it. Once sanded it was dead flat so i assemble thr other items cleaning the excess packing grease off with a rag. Its easier to fit the chuck before you fit the motor unit as the motor usit sits flat with the spindle shaft pointing up giving perfect access. Clean the spindle and chuck carefully then twist the chuck onto the spindle and give it a couple of good taps with a rubber mallet of place a piece of wood ontop of the chuck if you have a regular hammer. Then fit it all together set required speed with the belt and then tyrap around the belt cover and the housing as this stops any vibrations and noise. Runs very quiet and very true. Im only using it for light woodworking and the test holes cut very nicely. For the money im very impressed once it was flattened and built correctly.

Those were my first impressions…. After 24 hours lowering the quill sounded like a grinding metal sound and i was able to stop the chuck from spinning with my hand.. It got sent back. I bought the bosch PBD40 instead which is a whole different animal.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWould have given it a 5 stars but found fitting column to motor a bit tight, also chuck and key weren’t supplied (box had hole in bottom).
A lumberjack phoned me to discuss my problems, which was excellent. 2 hours later courier handed in chuck and key ( was found in van).
I phoned lumberjack to inform them. I’m extremely impressed by the company and its product. The drill is mai ly handy for light woodworking metal drilled but runs smoothly and looks the part.
A nice touch would have been to Include a hand vice but there are plenty in amazon to choose.

    Little beauty

Other reviews dislike the runout but mine seems fine, if not perfect.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am a amateur woodworker who has never owned a pillar drill before so I have nothing to compare it to but I found it fairly easy to put together, it is quieter than expected and works very well, the only problem I found was trying to adjust the pulleys, I had occasion to use a few bad words but eventually managed to get the right speed for the work in hand.
It arrived very swiftly (next day) was well packed and in excellent condition. I would have no hesitation in recommending this drill to any woodworker.

A little rough around the edges. The engineering tolerances are off a little but for most work that’s not an issue.

Clunky and makes more noise that I expected (even after adjusting the belt tension)

Otherwise works well and will hopefully last a few years.

Great unit for light engineering work.
Will upgrade the chuck to a keyless type.

This was easy to assemble and was well packaged for transit. It has only been used for wood but performs well on hard wood to the maximum depth of 50mm as advertised. It runs true. Changing drill speed is an easy task, as is adjusting the table height to suit the material. My only gripe is with the vice bundled with this by Amazon, it doesn’t line up with any of the slots on the table. Although the vice is well made and sold by Silverline, you need separate clamps to hold it in place, which rather defeats the whole idea. Vice excepted I would recommend the drill for hobby work although of limited use for anything heavier.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersLet’s start with the one little niggle, the packaging! It comes in a lovely box but when opening said box you are faced with two, tight fitting, polystyrene trays that have no finger holes or anything else to grab. The best way would probably be to cut (or tear) the sides of the box, but if you need to send it back for some reason then that is not ideal. My solution was to carefully tip the box over and let gravity take over, lo and behold the underside of one tray had a place to put your fingers in……perhaps I should have opened the box upside down!

Assembly was a doddle, the instructions were very clear, concise and easy to follow with just a 13mm spanner extra to the two Allen keys provided; the table angle adjustment needs an 18mm spanner.

Not having had one of these previously, I can’t say whether it is excessively noisy or not but as I have always used an electric drill on a stand before this is a lot quieter than that! The speeds are easy to change too.

All in all this seems a good machine that is easy to operate and not too heavy to move around.
