MARSHYDRO FC-E4800 LED Grow Light 480W 4x4ft 2646pcs Diodes LEDs Plant Grow Light UV IR Full Spectrum Growing Lights Plants Grow Lamp Dimmable Commercial Grow Lights Daisy Chain Detachable 2.8 umol/J
Out of all the grow lights in the market, the mars hydro FCE-4800 is one of the best grow lights I’ve used. A section of this light died on me. I emailed mars hydro and within two weeks I received a bar replacement. Thank you, Mars Hydro for the excellent customer service. You have a loyal customer for life.
My dimmer box was broken I had to get a replacement.
I was upset I spent so much money and had problems out of the box but its fixed now.
Probably a rare thing. Caused a costly disaster in my grow at first. I was pretty angry.
Here’s the good news though!
Onto the LED light itself:
This is a powerhouse so be careful with it. Unless you have your growing environment dialed in 100% or close to it you will need c02. Also ignore the direction manual about spacing from plant top to light fixture distance. This thing puts out more par than the advertisements specs state. You will need to experiment with how far you keep this thing from your plants because its like a planet in a tent shooting out sun beams basically. IGNORE the directions about spacing from plants. Find your own sweet spot by watching your leaves.
It’s not a bad thing to have more light than you need but you need to adjust accordingly to this. I keep my lights WAY farther away than directed. Don’t mount the driver on the light, keep that with its own fan pointed at it outside of your tent or on the floor in your grow room with a fan pointed at it. It’s gets pretty hot and its all of the weight on this light. Without it, the bars themselves are very light and no stress on your tent or hanging fixtures.
I don’t suggest this light for a 4×4 unless you really know your stuff and can keep good control over your conditions. I would say people who want to try a powerful LED like this should aim for a 5×5 tent. Saying this out of experience with using this light.
I would suggest it to beginners wanting something strong and veteran growers just be mindful you are a getting a really powerful light and you need to be ready for it. If this is your first LED from old school traditional grow lights you will hit a learning curve with it so hang in there and stick it out.
If you are in an actual grow room go for it, if you are a tent grower prepare yourself for the power you will have to adapt to it. Again, get a 5×5 tent unless you know what you are doing in a 4×4
If you are growing in a smaller space tinker around with 50% and 75% on the dimmer. You really need to be ready to use this thing at full 100% power. So unless you are ready for the power behind this thing I would get a different LED that is less actual watts. If you are ready for a light like this I think the powerful even spread of light and coverage area will give you really great results.
Assembled this LED fits in a 4×4 perfectly with very very little space between the tent walls. It is almost exactly 4×4 feet all said and done. This thing kicks out like the sun in the summer.
This is an excellent light, worth the money. Want to buy another one
This literally touches all the corners in a 4×4. Perfect for even coverage. Incredibly bright as well, I really don’t find a need to go above 60-70% power, but it’s rated for a 5×5 I think. The driver is passively cooled, but even at 60% power was barely warm. Not only reduced my temps inside the tent, but now I barely even run my window A/C to cool the entire room. I now have a new problem: humidity due to the lower temps. Went from 50-55 to 70-80. T5s were almost perfect.
No tools needed to setup, but you may want an extra pair of hands as it’s kinda big. Don’t make my mistake of replacing the lights mid-grow with a tent pull of plants in a trellis net.
Easy to assemble, works great, and if you’re worried about the diodes being bridgelux and not Samsung. Don’t they are just as good, no real difference
Great Light i absolutely love it!! The light also just barely fits in a 2×2 tent very tight fit tho. I highly recommend this light no problems so far.
The main reason I decided to go with this light was because of the price. I really couldn’t pass up a 300w light under $250. I think it’s a fantastic light for a new grower with great performance.
I was curious if it would fit inside my 27″x27″ tent and it did without issues. It was probably overkill though so I ended up putting it in my 3×3 tent instead. The LED driver is removable which is fantastic because it allows you to place it outside the tent in a cooler environment. The box was a beautifully plain nondescript brown, and packaged well.
Light was exactly what I was looking for. Easy to assemble. Fit perfect in 44!!!
The light is fantastic but the assembly instructions included were completely wrong. Search youtube for assembly instructions if you need help.
Upgraded my set up from the other style mars hydro, these lights are much cooler in tent. So far so good, just vegged so fa
My first led grow light and so far no complaints
Tried this in a 3×3 indoor flower garden probably better for a 4×4 as you’d have a little more area around the perimeter for fan lines and other tidbits. It didn’t effect mine at all but it was tight. It fills the area corner to corner. The flowers turned out dense and enormous. The most surprising thing was the size and density of the lower flowers under the canopy. I’m not talking about the lower third larf that won’t get touched regardless. I pruned that trash off. I also love the fact that you can station the driver outside of the tent for temperature control. I’m am very happy so far with the price and the results. I got this unit with a coupon for like $100 off.
It’s a good light! Easy to set up and use, it doesn’t make our flowers hot, puts out way more than enough light. We had an area to review a timer that’s supposed to be with it? There isn’t one. We bought one from Walmart and it works well with it! Power bill hasn’t gone up much either. Highly recommend!
Been running this through several harvests now & I can honestly say the light output & par readings are amazing. My most recent grows haven’t looked better. Just wish customer service was a little better with Mars Hydro, in reference to another product.
WE switched from another brand to try this particular light. We are so glad we did. This light is like the true sun it seems to our plants, To try this out we put 6 scraggy plants we were gonna cull in under this light to see what would happen and wow. Glad we didnt cull them and can not wait to get our veg plants under these lights for the turn! OH man. We have a 4X8 new tent with room for 2. We shall get another when we can! Bravo Mars Hydro.. Wow!
I made the mistake of thinking this had the same PAR as the FC folding model. It doesn’t So I had it dimmed and farther away then it needed to be. So you pay less and the only compromise is this light needs to be a few inches closer to achieve the same par as the FCE. However both lights use the same wattage. Inside a tent being far away doesn’t have any advantage. Half dozen one six of the other.
The light is good in a 4×4 not to hot, able to keep the dimmer and power box outside of the tent to regulate the temp. Solid buy. If you’re expecting to receive the mars hydro sticker’s they didn’t ship with my order, but that’s not really a big deal to me

I love this light series. It was bit bright for my persimmons at full strength, hazels too; so I used dimmer switch to turn it down. Now they are very happy. I love the light, plants do too. Produces nice tight nodes on tomatoe seedlings.
I love how it’s wall to wall coverage. There’s nothing I dislike about this light. Fits perfect in a 3×3 te
My buddy had one of these just setting in the corner so I brought it from once I put it up in my 1st 4×4 grow tent I knew I had to have a second everything so I bought another 4×4 setup just for these lights I’m in love
Wow, what a light. Coming from Electric Sky’s I was was skeptical, but these things are noticeable brighter and results are proof alone
Initial high cost but did the math and it will pay for itself compared to hps system in 2yrs of daily use. It uses half the electricity as a hps system for the same size coverage. Also has more even distribution of light over given area as multiple sources vs single hps bulb. Also hps is notorious for high heat output, you can’t even touch it but the LED is only warm to touch. No need for cooling in grow area. Definitely a better overall system. However after buying a second light and close inspection of driver, it is labelled as 730 watts not the advertised 800 watts. Now it makes sense that i couldn’t get the higher advertised par map with my systems fc-e8000. Still a good light but fake advertisement that reflects poorly on the company. See photo
Below are some of the updates to the FC-E series lights I have noticed.
They did change the dimmer box, it is still built with a variable dial, and they changed it from two buttons to one, but the function is The same
The driver support brackets were changed from metal to plastic, mostly to reduce the cost of manufacturing in turn making cost-effective products for customers. From my experience it protects the heatsinks on the lights when the brackets are installed, and if you need to shift the position of the driver or remove it.
The output wire was changed from 4 cores to 2 cores to reduce the probability of poor contact and with the change in the dimmer box, the extra wires were unnecessary.
the price has also been reduced a lot, I paid over 570 dollars on my first one.
Customer Service:
Mars Hydro has unparalleled customer service, when I first noticed changes to the lights, they assisted me through everything! They honor their warranty on their lights and they ship very quickly with the lights arriving 2-3 days, they have US based warehouses.
I highly recommend this light manufacturer, 5 stars!
Mars Hydro just keeps getting better. LOVE that they listen to growers (who here remembers before they had the dials?! LOL) and keep updating and upgrading with every release. The FC-E8000 is no different. It actually supersedes what Mars Hydro says the light’s wattage is. It says 800 watts. My meter read 825. So. . .MORE POWER! It’s has a huge driver, is cooler than their quantum board type lights. Even had to adjust my inline fan controller. Made that much of a difference. Can’t want to see how this thing performs.
We started out with a 250 light and went up to the 480 to yield more flower and we’ve definitely got more flower so we are definitely happy
Light is sturdy and easy enough to put together. It should probably come with 4 rope racket straps instead of 2. Box was missing parts, which is why it gets 4 stars. Missing the wire leaders that attached to wye bolts and for some reason I didn’t get the coveted Mars Hydro stickers that I was looking forward to.
Well worth the money, easily blowing out other older models in every aspect I can see. Even side by side with a TSW3000 it dosent compare.
Packaged well, easy installation, huge savings on my electric bill. Very happy with this purchase. My plants love it.
Arrived really quick. It came packaged in styrofoam and a box inside a box so there was no damage at all. After assembly, I was surprised at how sturdy it was. Man is it bright! Working beautiful! Do not hesitate to get this. The price is more than worth the it!
I am so pleased with my fc-e 3000 I have another one on order for 1m x1m tent In the future as I replace lights it will be with mars hydro. Keep up the good standard thanks
Also die Lampe kam recht schnell und heile bei mir an. Aufgebaut war sie auch recht schnell und unkompliziert. Man braucht fast keine Anleitung dazu. Also klare Kaufempfehlung..
When configuring it I am not the most technical and had to reach out to Customer Service—they were amazing. Super responsive and walked me through the solution in a matter of minutes. I felt pretty dumb once I saw what I was doing wrong.
This light is a game changer for indoor gardening, and after seeing it in action, I see no reason for people to spend extra money on HLG or Spider Farms, let alone big money lights like Scynce or others “premier” brands. Buy with confidence and truly enhance your garden!
I have been using Marshydro for awhile now.. I upgraded from the TSA series to this one and I absolutely love it. Great coverage, had amazing results under this loght.
If there’s ever a value for money light it’s this one. And you just can not go wrong with A Mars Hydro product. I have always used their lights and tents and they are by far best quality for your money.
Great customer care and next day delivery. I love it and highly recommend this to any home growe
Very high quality
Room temps r perfect with this and the plants r thriving
This light is awesome! So bright and nice spectrum! Perfect for 3×3 grow space
Have only been using the light a few weeks very happy with the growth so far. I am very excited too see it into the flowe
It’s actually perfect for a tent and adaptable to anywhere really. It’s made with the best technology too just check google and you’ll see plus Ino there’s a Ssomething 3000 that’s the exact same as this but 30 more expensive
It arrived last night. Took me about 20 minutes to assemble and another 20 to remove the TSW2000 and hand the FCE-3000 in the 3x3x6.
The design is great, very minimal and Very light weight. Seems quite bright, but no real difference to the TSW2000 in that regard. Checking the draw, it’s only pulling 275 watts, not the 300 ~5% as advertised, and when I adjust the dimmer, it steps intensity (almost blinking) where as my TSW1000 & TSW2000 are smooth. Going to contact the seller and inquire as I think there might be a problem with the driver.
FC-E4800 and moved the TSW 2000 in a 3×3, had side by side comparison for 3-4 weeks and i can tell you the 2000 performed as good as the fc-e 4800!? The light worked great but just couldn’t see a noticeable difference. So…I got a more expensive FC 4800 (OG model with Samsung lm301b) despite beeing the older model and returned the cheaper FC-E model with Bridgelux chips.
The FC 4800 was a warehouse deal, had a slight defect but nothing major, originally wanted to return/exchange it so i was thrilled when i found a smoking deal on a brand new unit (fc 4800). Ordered it got here quick but…not the same light bars anymore. As you can see on the pictures the one on the right is the OG fc 4800 unit, the one on the left has the FC-E light bars on it with the Bridgelux led’s. They were fixed, not adjustable ( as expected) and came with a Moso driver, the OG warehouse deal came with an Inventronics driver. I decided to keep my slightly defective light and returned the new ‘fake’ one. Amazon reimbursed me the difference in price of the two! Awesome customer service on their part.
Next is an update on the TSW 2000. Worked great for 2 and half months then suddenly…. I’m standing in front of the tent and i can see flashes through the zipper?!? This one baffles me a great deal, the light was flickering in and out full power and it’s switched off!! Wth is going on here?
Usually light is plugged in the timer so wouldn’t happen when everything was live but if your turning your lights on and off manually it’s definitely an issue not to mention the potential risks involved with something electric going on and off when it’s not supposed to. Crazy
Moral of the story:
Be very cautious of what’s advertised and what you get these days, Mars Hydro offers great deals on what seems to be a fairly good product, looks good, works good for a while but at the end of the day just doesn’t cut it. I did get in touch with their customer service at first or they got in touch with me i should say after posting a bad review an initiating a return (yes another one) on a 4in fan that sounded like a jet engine…we’ll skip that one for now. They’ll work with you to a certain extent as long as you fix your reviews.
Let me be clear here, i have reached a satisfactory conclusion (refund) to all my issues but not without a lot of stress and anxiety, that certainty was the most painful experience I’ve had with a vendor on this platform period. Can’t say you were never warned!
Thanks for reading
Now get back to your coffee and keep shopping:)
