I had lost my previous buds and a friend who is sound engineer, recommended to me these ones. It is worth the price, they last long and you get to customise your buds to your liking through the app.
I feel improvement during phone calls in UK. Old earphones when calling abroad, often people can’t hear me but they can if I use this. Battery lasted about 6hrs before needing to place back in box to charge. Old earphones lasted 12hrs before needing to charge. Ear buds are secure in ears when cycling.
These are pretty excellent earbuds for the money with dynamic V shaped tuning and solid noise cancelling.
Pros
-Great app with extensive equalisation after which a more balanced sound can be achieved.
-Wide soundstage, surprisingly good instrument separation and clarity.
-LDAC support for higher bit rate transmission.
-Decent battery life.
-Well built.
-Decent transparency mode and active noise cancelling.
Cons
-Not the most ergonomic shape, even with the tips and wings provided, a good comfortable fit may not be very easy to find.
-There’s a bit of lag with the auto pause feature, it takes about a second while the liberty 4s pause almost instantly.
-The tuning out of the box emphasizes the highs which may be a little ear piercing to some, this can, however be greatly reduced using the app.
Overall, they’re a solid pair of earbuds for the money with exceptional sound and decent features. If they’re comfortable for you, it’ll be quite hard to find a better sounding pair of earbuds in this price range.
The sound quality and active noise cancelling are excellent!
However, the plastic tips that ensure a good fit have become soft and flabby over time and the buds do not stay in the ears as well as they did at the beginning.
Very good pair of earbuds, with a lot of pros and few cons. I had a problem with the earbud connecting with the charging pins, and on occasions on earbud would be in the case, but fail to charge.
The headphones are almost perfect, sound quality is as good as xm4’s, using the EQ can give a whole lot of customisation – ANC is solid, a step below xm4’s but still really good. Transparancy mode is bad compared to xm4’s – it sounds artificial.
My biggest problem is that higher frequencies sound very harsh on these earphones. It starts to sound like hissing and it’s very irritating to the point that I want to stop listening. Changing EQ helps a little bit but doesn’t completely get it out. The previous model had this exact issue as well. Quite disappointing.
Big let down for earphones that are almost perfect
EDIT after 2 months
I’ve played around in the EQ and these sound extremely good, the problem I spoke about has been eliminated.
These are definitely worth the money. My only gripe is the earphones not disconnecting when in the charging case.
Not had them for long, but so far better than Sony, Apple and B&Oall of which were a lot more than twice the price. Just gets better and better. So adaptable, comfortable and stable as well.
One month in and really very impressed.
I am blown away by the Soundcore by Anker Liberty 3 Pro Noise Cancelling Earbuds! These earbuds are true wireless and come with a charging case that offers a whopping 35 hours of battery life. The noise cancelling feature is exceptional and really blocks out all background noise, making these earbuds perfect for travelling or just blocking out noisy surroundings.
The sound quality is top-notch, with crisp highs and deep, rich bass. The earbuds come with different sized ear tips to ensure a comfortable fit, and I found them to be very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.
Overall, these earbuds can easily compete with high-end alternatives and are definitely worth the investment. I highly recommend the Soundcore by Anker Liberty 3 Pro Noise Cancelling Earbuds to anyone looking for top-notch sound quality and noise cancelling capabilities in a true wireless earbud.
Impresses sound wise in EDM but voices can sound a bit recessed in some more vocal tracks, I bought initially to try out the whole in ear wing thing but alas these are pretty hot and miss, sometimes staying put and at other times declining with the bonus of if I’m lying down with them they are quite stable but I couldn’t recommend as sports buds from “personal xp” but I have large ear canals that are bud finicky to start with, “one plus” quality is quite good in regards to build and the tips are also good straight from the box
Reviews are accurate. For the price, you will not find better.
Excellent sound quality but be careful to patiently fit them and customise them with the app
After a few weeks, the left earphone stopped working, not recommended i
A beautifully presented set of earbuds in a lovely package, containing all necessary sizes of wings and tips to ensure a nice tight fit.
The sound quality is amazing and the noise cancellation is very impressive, from a test the other week I heard no sound for around 2 hours, travelling on trains and buses until I removed them when finally at work.
The options in the app allow you to really tailor the sound to your ears.
With changeable noise cancellation you have several available options that allow different modes of transparency so you can isolate outside noise and still hear voices.
The battery life is surprisingly good and you can get several charge cycles from the included case.
For the price point, the build quality and the sound, these are probably some of the best earbuds you can currently get for the price. Anker products are always well built and their support is second to none if you have any issues, so you have extra peace of mind.
Would recommend these earbuds to anyone that wants a great set of earbuds without spending crazy cash.
Bought them to replace my sony 1000xm4. For sound quality and volume are above the sony, for noise canceling bellow but still good.
Brilliant buds. IMHO as good as Bose or Senheiser but much cheaper. Thumping bass, clear sound.
They are almost as good as most top -of -the-line on-ear headphones out there.
Love these, packed with features, great app, multipoint connection. Amazing sound, lots of grunt in the low end. Great separation/ soundstage. Can get a bit peaky in the treble, easily sorted with a bit of EQ. I paid about 90 with a voucher. These are a bargain and easily compete with my 200+ earbuds. Love them with Amazon Music HD!!
The sound quality is exceptional once you download the software for ldac, otherwise they are on a par with the sound core liberty 2
Battery life is strange. My half hour walk around the park results in the case taking the rest of the day to charge one led. The case looks and feels very cheap unlike the liberty 2. I usually use them before they have finished charging fully, then I have to leave them charging all night!
I’m not a fan of the touch interface much preferring a physical button, like the liberty 2. It’s too hit and miss when one is urgently trying to turn them off for example. Overall, they could be better for the price.
Great fit, great sound, great product, once they’re in you don’t really feel them after a while, the noise cancelling works exceptionally well, the case can charge wirelessly or via usb-c, the sound quality and bass make these earbuds stand head and shoulders above others I’ve had, they are more expensive but are also worth the extra money.
Great product with great sound. Especially for the price. Item itself I feel is a little on the bulky side. I personally couldn’t get them to sit perfectly although they didn’t move when in. I know they aren’t gym ones but conscious how they would stay when sweaty. The app is good providing some decent sound settings.
I don’t normally write reviews but these are so great for the price. There was space in the case for my memory foam tops and together with the noise cancelling block out almost all the noise around me even things like a hoover right next to my face
These earbuds sound great. You may need to tweak them or find a preset that you like. HearID does do something but whether it’s a gimmick or not I’m not sure.
Battery life is average but not disappointing. The one area this needs improvements is the app and noise cancelling. After running the ANC test it just never really blocked out much noise. It would remove very low and quiet background noise like a computer or a fan but nothing else would be touched. The Soundcore app is very messy if you have more than one product you will notice each product has a completely different layout, style, settings and their respective menus just look like entirely different apps it’s quite messy.
The best of all earbuds! Better than anything else ie AirPods Pro, Bose and all other expensive overpriced ones.
Amazing sound quality, nice design, durable and ergonomic, they fit perfectly into your ear canals and do not drop. Battery is very long, they have configurable touch controls, the case is magically beautiful and well designed. I have other bose NC and Airpods PRO, the liberty 3 PRO are another league, the sound quality after a bit of configuration with the soundcore app is of a studio level, I would pay 300 for these, easy.
Can’t go wrong, just buy them.
I had Liberty 2 pro before I bought these and I must say these are definitely an upgrade.
UPDATE:
The folks over at sound core sent over another pair. While I’m still not very impressed with the earbuds overall performance (personal opinion, I’m sure it’ll be different for everyone) definitely giving an A++ for an amazing customer experience.
Firstly, I REALLY REALLY wanted to like these. They’re the right color, the perfect price point and I like a stemless earbud because I find it way more aesthetically pleasing. Even as a lover of Apple products, the reason I got these (and previous pairs of earbuds like it) is because white is NOT my thing. All my kit are space grey or black and I just couldn’t get on board with white AirPods and also they almost cost double this pair.
Reasons For My 2 Stars: after only a few days, the earbuds started cutting out during regular music play (no ANC or any EQ settings on).
The mic was only efficient about 35% of the time (serious outage issues during the few team meetings I used it on).
The left ear doesn’t hold the charge. I left it in the charging case overnight on 3 occasions (at first I didn’t think anything of it) and then when I went to use it, it alerted me with “battery low” after a little over an hour of use.
In all fairness, this may have been faulty but I simply don’t have the patience to find out. I’ve been seeing all my favorite YouTubers raving about these and now I’ve concluded it may just be a serious paid advertising campaign (which is fine, you need a boost sometimes) but I just wish it was as impressive as it was professing to be.
————
Plot Twist: I’ve now ordered a pair of AirPods because I honestly can’t and won’t put up with sub par performance from any of my devices. I need them to work, be reliable and have no issues whatsoever.
I love these ear buds. I got them on an offer for 99. I already own a pair of the Liberty 2, and I do notice a difference in the noise cancelling, the clarity, and the soundstage.
I use them with an Ibasso DX 170 HiRes digital audio player, and they compliment it very well.
I also have a pair of Jabra 75t, but I prefer these.
Best sounding TWS buds I have owned, great app experience. Yes the ANC and transparency could be better but they both work very well for the price. Had to change the eartips for some spinfit cp100s as the supplied ones made my ear canals itchy. The spinfits are a great upgrade in every way over the supplied tips. Would love to see a dedicated low latency mode for gaming but as long as you are not using LDAC latency is hardly noticeable. Very comfortable and sturdy to wear for long periods. If you are looking predominantly for great sound quality and lean towards a more dynamic open and energetic sound signature with good response through all frequencies you can’t go wrong with these earbuds.
Takes a while to get used to the shape/fit but omygod the sound is absolutely tremendous, decent noise cancelling too. very happy.
Liberty 3 Pro’s build quality is good. They’re made of plastic and silicone but feel sturdy. They’re also rated IPX4 for protection against splashes of water. Liberty 3 Pro have a v-shaped sound profile that delivers extra thump, rumble, and boom to mixes. At the same time, vocals and lead instruments are bright and sparkly. If you prefer a different sound, their companion app offers a graphic EQ and presets so that you can adjust their sound to your liking. I love it!
I’d started with a wonderful looking generic pair of buds that I purchased and sadly that was the only superlative, they looked good. I returned and bought a pair of Samsung Galaxy Live buds. The sound was incredible but the fit wasn’t; they just felt like lumps in my ears that I continually struggled to get them to stay in place. I gave up; very disappointed though as the sound really was excellent.
So after hours and hours reading reviews I came down to two pairs. One I bought ,the other I didn’t. I took the plunge and bought the Soundcore by Anker Liberty 3 Pro Active Noise Cancelling Earbuds and waited.
The box is very impressive with what can only be described as a full range of ear tips and wings. I felt certain there would be a combination that would fit me and they did. I downloaded the Soundcore app which I should mention is really comprehensive. First up was a full charge with buds in situ. Set up from that point with my Samsung S20FE was simplicity. Next up was get them into my ears. Insert, slightly turn them so the wing locks in place, job done. Next up after looking at the plethora of settings available was listen to some music. I hit play with Barns Courtney ‘Glitter & Gold.’ Followed by The Dead South – ‘In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company.’ Wow wow wow. I had a good fiddle with the settings getting things just right for me. I’m an old aged pensioner who once upon a time teetered on being a sudo audiophile with Audiolab hardware and Mission 753 speakers. Those days are long behind me, and now i just want to hear clear music with balanced pleasing tones. I was not disappointed with the results. One side of me thought the Samsung Galaxy buds Live were very close in quality but after several hours I can hand on heart say these Liberty 3s are another dimension.
My last on ear pair were the enchanting Plantronics Backbeats from around seven or eight years back, and they were good. These are better from Soundcore which is pretty amazing concerning the comparison from on ear to in ear. As sound quality is so subjective I’ll leave that element and move on. suffice to say for me they sound incredible.
The Fit?
Really I have to give them five stars, although energetic use is yet to be tested and I’ll update the review at that time. They are so simple to fit and do seal nicely allowing deep tones to be easily heard.
Noise Cancelling abilities?
As I say, I’ve yet to go out and try that element but at home where it is quiet I can hear the deep hiss in-between tracks or at quiet parts. Clearly that is not a test as I need to go into a noisy environment. I did turn the TV on and could not hear it even during quiet parts of any given track.
Batteries?
Really good. The app shows current charge so you know how long you have left. I had them in off and on all afternoon and they were still going, so really I imagine they’d easily last the longest gym session.
All in all I’m delighted and will not be returning these.
Great sounding headphones. Noise cancellation is not as good as brands like Bose and Sony but these are a lot cheaper.
You get lots of options with regards to size of buds and fittings and these fit even with my tiny little ears. Comfortable to wear for prolonged periods too.
There is an app to go with these and I highly recommend you use it to get the best out of them
The good.
Provided you find the right tips and wings, the sound is excellent. The HearID feature is great too, and allows you to test your hearing and automatically modify the sound settings to compensate for shortfalls. The app is very comprehensive – just take the time to explore the features.
The average.
The charging case feels very flimsy – more so than cheaper Soundcore units, and it’s quite fiddly getting the earbuds in and out. Noise cancellation works to an extent, but nowhere near as effective as with Bose earphones. The attachment of the wings is quite weak, and they do tend to become dislodged when you twist the earbuds into your ear.
The poor.
My biggest issue with the earbuds is that you can only find the charge / ANC status, and what devices they are connected to by using the app. My Bose earbuds announce the charge level and the names of the devices they are connected to, as soon as they turn on. Even my Soundcore Life A1 (a much cheaper earbud) announce the charge level. Why has this been removed from a more premium model? The same applies to the Mode (ANC, Normal, Transparency). My Sony noise cancelling earphones announce the mode, this, and it makes a big difference. These shortcomings makes for a frustrating user experience, which could easily have been implemented in the firmware.
Really good sound quality, decent noise cancelling, fitting ok for me seems quite solid in the ear once fitted. Battery life about average. The case though looks lovely is a right pain to get the buds out.
Simply put the best wireless ear buds I have ever bought. The ONLY criticisms I have is the size of the case and the way the buds sit in the case. Sometimes you have to re-seat them to make sure they are charging. It’s also not very logical the way you have to seat the in the charging case.
Other than that…they basically do everything really well!
– Sports fins for perfect fit In the ear.
– Brilliant sound quality with a myriad of options
– Completely customisable controls
– Excellent battery life
– usb-c
– Perfect touch control
– Single bud use
The list goes on. All in all, the perfect buds to date considering the crazy low price I got these for vis the warehouse (turned up brand new, sealed)
I always trust soundcore to deliver amazing sound quality with their liberty pro series. Some of the best customisation options out there regarding eq and settings. ANC might be a bit dissapointing for some people. However, ANC truely shines when you are listening to something at a low volume. It really kicks in when there is audio and truely blocks out a lot of sound. Very high quality for the price. Very comfortable fit and are much lighter than the liberty 2 pros. Finally, the battery life with these is great (it is an anker product after all). Even with LDAC and noice cancelling on, they will last a decent amount of time. Overall, a really good wireless earphone/IEM.
Brilliant sound, I’m not an audiophile, so not quite sure on how to describe, but the bass is extremely powerful and same with treble, it”s so crisp it can almost hurt your ears at even medium volume, mids are good too, but not so pronounced.
I would advise users to take the couple of minutes required to set the buds up using the ‘Hear ID’ on the Soundcore app, as it tests your hearing and customises the buds to your particular hearing, and it transformed the sound for me.
Almost everything is adjustable and customisable using the app.
I use them inside a full face motorcycle helmet, and the noise cancelling is acceptable for wind and exhaust noise on a litre sportsbike, but not the best I’ve ever heard. It’s easy to get the helmet on with them in, (even a tight new one) as they are smooth and don’t catch in the liner as you pull it over your ears, and the wingtips on the buds help hold them in place also. I use foam eartips and they’re very comfortable for long periods on the bike. I didn’t even try the silicone ones supplied, as they usually make my ear canals itchy.
Battery life with noise cancelling on is not as good as I expected at about 4 hours, before the right side bud needs a charge. It’s always the right side that dies first for some reason, and the left side usually has about 20% charge left when the right bud gives in. Overall, I’m happy with them, and they seem to be on a permanent sale at the moment. Definitely worth the 109 paid, but not sure I’d pay full price for them.
I see many people writing 1, 2, and 3-star reviews based simply on aesthetics or how the earbuds don’t fit, to quote someone reviewing on this page ” because I have difficult ears”
Well, let’s get this through first: your shape or size or the fact that you cannot change the parts and fit these properly is really not the manufacturer’s fault. Also, if you don’t like it, send it back. It’s free.
This is a good, very stable, high quality (especially for the money) – evidently aiming to get on the same level as ATH M50 X BT (we can’t compare it to a wired edition)
How do I know this? I’ve been a sound engineer for over 20 years.
Below is a proper review of what matters when you choose a pair of earbuds.
The frequency response is beautiful, and the reason the noise canceling is not as perfect as with others is that they need to keep that high-quality uncompressed sound untouched. Untrained ears can’t tell, but with complete noise canceling, the quality of the song is also affected. Just like with the difference when you listen between Spotify’s uber compressed tracks vs Amazon’s Ultra HD tracks.
In my testing, I got around 6 hours of usage from the Anker Liberty 3 Pro with the constant playback of music, peaking at 75dB(SPL). The mileage may vary depending on how loudly you listen to your music, and whether you are listening in ANC, transparency, or regular mode.
It takes about two hours to fully charge the earbuds, and three hours to charge the case; nevertheless, fast charging supplies three hours of playback time from only 15 minutes of charging. You can charge the case via USB-C or using a wireless charging mat.
Noise attenuation performance on the Anker Liberty 3 Pro is satisfactory. If you use the right-sized ear tips and ear wings, passive isolation blocks mid to high-end frequencies so they sound half to one-quarter as loud. Enabling active noise canceling renders up to an additional 10dB of attenuation in mid to low frequencies below 1kHz.
With ANC set to its highest setting, all environmental noise will sound at least 50% quieter compared to not wearing the earbuds. This is still a significant improvement over earbuds that lack ANC, and enough to block out all distractions once you play music as well.
How does it sound?
The default sound of the Anker Liberty 3 Pro leans into the U-shaped frequency curve of many consumer headphones, with significant boosts to the lowest and highest frequencies of the human hearing spectrum.
This is a frequency response most will enjoy, especially if you listen to high-energy EDM music or want to hear a thumping low end during your workouts. Keep in mind that tweaking the EQ settings within the Soundcore app will easily adjust the sound to your liking.
Using the default frequency response, bass notes are significantly amplified.
The U-shaped frequency response leaves mid-range frequencies from 300-1000Hz underrepresented in most mixes. The fundamental frequencies of many vocal notes live in this range, leaving the vocals in some tracks to sound quiet compared to the bass and drums.
A boost to high frequencies above 5kHz makes it easier to perceive detail.
Microphone quality is perfectly fine for taking calls in most environments. The earbuds feature six microphones with what Anker calls AI-uplink noise reduction, which is an algorithm to detect and limit background noise.
The Anker Liberty 3 Pro is more than serviceable for most people’s needs. Anker delivers feature-packed companion apps for its headphones, and the Liberty 3 Pro is no exception. Full customization over the sound and ANC, as well as extras such as an earbud fit test and wind reduction, provide a premium experience.
Firmware updates will hopefully continue to improve the performance of the earbuds over time. To install the latest firmware, open the Soundcore app, scroll down and click “More Settings”, and then “Update Firmware”.
The previous generation Anker Liberty 2 Pro lacks active noise canceling, has aptX instead of LDAC, and misses out on Bluetooth multi-point.
Overall these earbuds are cheaper than the top competition from Sony, Apple, and Bose, though the wireless earbud market is flooded with more affordable options.
But if you appreciate all the features and customization the Anker Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro offers, these earbuds will probably be a good buy for you.
The packaging, presentation and contents for the Liberty look excellent. The charging case is like a clam shell and the lid slides open. I don’t like the case at all.
The buds paired with my Galaxy S21 Plus without being plugged into the mains like another pair of buds I tried. They had 80% battery. I installed the Soundcore app from the Google store. It requires you to log in. I logged in using my Amazon account. Norton 360 AV on my phone stated the app “may effect your device’s security performance, or behaviour”. I upgraded the earbud firmware using the app. After the update I selected sound mode and switched to LDAC, it was necessary to download and install another FW update. Both updates took 5 minutes + in total to complete. I got LDAC to work eventually. I had LDAC turned on in the app then when I checked the developer option on the phone LDAC was not selected. I went back into the app and I had to turn it on again. I was also able to select LDAC in the Bluetooth options.
For starters I selected the smallest tip and largest wings. The fit was okay but I needed to adjust quite a bit. I could barely feel the bud in my right ear and I could feel it in my left, it was not uncomfortable at first.
I used the app (which is pretty good but I think the Technics is better) to change the touch options on the ear buds. On a previous pair of buds (now returned) I was able to disable the left earbud touch, it is not possible on this app. I just used double tap for pause and play on the right and the response was quick.
I was also not able a how to video within the app because it said I was not connected to the internet and I was! Bug I guess?
I tested the ANC indoors! I didn’t want to go out with them yet. I urinated in the toilet bowl, flushed the loo and turned on an extractor fan and the ANC is reasonable. Ha, ha. I am more concerned with sound quality than ANC. I am happy with the sound quality using LDAC I cannot tell the difference between these and my Sony WH-1000XM3. The buds are kind of big and stick out somewhat. I could still wear my fleece hat in winter but I think the pressure may begin to hurt my internal ear after a while.
The one thing I dislike about the Liberty 3 is the charging case, the slide hinge is rubbish and the case is too small. If the wings are not fitted correctly, the earbuds will not fit snugly in the charger and the lid will not close properly and the buds will not charge.
After using for a few days I am not comfortable with the fit. The wings help but I find even the largest one does not seem to be position where it should be. I have to keep adjusting the left earbud mainly as it feels like it would fall out. I have bought some SpinFit CP360-S/SS ear tips. and will see if that help when they arrive.
The batter life is not great at all when ANC is turned on and LDAC is selected.
I have own galaxy buds pro wbich i considered best till now. Liberty 3 pro excel everywhere. Yes they his ever so slightly but most tunable TWS out there for sure. I have never been forced fo keep listening to music 😀 honestly i had tryed sony wf1000mx4 and i was dissapointed. Very mudy at high volumes. I must admit i had to return first pair of liberty’s as they were faulty so i bought sonys instead which i returned in a day due ro poor sound quality. So i gived these second chance and i dont regret at all. They are simply amazing the sound stage separation of instruments combined with LDAC <3 just best. Better than any wired headphones i tryed so far.
I use these ear buds so I can concentrate at work whilst cutting out the background noise and listening to my favourite tunes. Just keep in mind the link to your Apple Watch can drop out after a major update, but really it’s no bother to re-link.
I wasn’t sure about these at first but after a couple of days finding the right fit and setting the touch functions up to my needs I can honestly say they’re amazing. The app probably makes these better than they should be, giving so many customization choices. It’s been about 3 months using these every day and the battery still holds really well. The sound quality for the price has got to be one of the best on the market and the ANC works as well as other way more expensive earphones.
Only hole I could pick is they can sometimes be a bit quiet in some circumstances, like listening to a podcast on a loud commute but the anc and changing the eq helps with this. Call quality is great unless it’s really windy.
It has some weird…moments of no signal hat randomly occur. If it wasn’t for those it would get a full starred review.
Can’t play audio from multiple devices simultaneously but you can quickly switch between 2 or manage multiple through the app, which is nice when you have a phone and multiple laptops to deal with.
Once you find the correct size fittings for your ears, they stay in place and are comfortable to wea
Having already owned a pair of Sony wh-1000xm3 I wanted something more descrete to wear out and about or when just relaxing in the house rather than over ear headphones and these don’t disappoint.
The noise cancelling both passive (from the seal they create in your ears) and when actually enabled it’s quite good, obviously not top grade but truthfully I don’t think you need more than these offer from earbuds.
Sound quality wise I’ve tweaked the equaliser myself to my own personal taste and again they sound great.
I’ve had no issues with disconnects or drop out like others have reported, but I do find audio stutters specifically when I’ve tried to connect them a pc or laptop, also some people have said the call quality sounds a little echoey but otherwise clear.
Overall a good pair of earbuds that I would happily recommend.
I wanted to give 4.5* for these – as we know, you can’t and 4* would be too mean. I got them at GBP139 and that’s good value; my pros and cons:
– very well made, Soundcore have upped the ante on their own good standards
– they look pure class
– plenty of wingtips and tips
– every control you’d want is there and responsive
– good mic, very good ANC and transparency
– excellent sound with one of the best apps and EQ facility
– the bass and sub bass are exceptional.
While many reviewers are stating these are best you can get, I don’t agree:
– despite all the supplied tips, I still couldn’t get a 100% fit and seal without shoving them into my ear canals (and I can with any Bose for example)
– still using the weird and cack-handed back to front placement in the case, but you get used to it
– slippery case, slippery buds…already dropped them, thankfully into my lap
– the sound is excellent, but frankly I’ve heard better. Even though the bass is monstrous it can sometimes be TOO much and I turned it down for some tracks; but my main issue is the treble – there’s no sibilance, it’s clean, but can be piercingly sharp, so that I have it turned down for ALL tracks. Which means you need to do a lot of EQ tweaking to optimise sound
– volume isn’t the best. I overcame this by developing an EQ profile with all parameters above the line which has the effect of increasing volume.
I also got the Beats Fit Pro at the same time deciding I could only afford one, fully expecting these to kill the Beats – but they don’t in one crucial dept: audio quality. the Beats have exceptional sound, bass is stronger in the Pro 3s, but not missing at all in the Beats which have better quality balanced audio. The Beats also have a better mic for calls, but sadly don’t compete with the Pro 3s with anything else, most notably price. If the Beats were no more than GBP150 I’d have kept them instead, despite the Pro 3’s extra features. But for GBP139, the pro 3s are truly outstanding
(Sorry, American keyboard, no pound symbol!)
I have a LOT of headphones. This is partly because Iove keeping up with the latest gadgets and also partly because each set of headphones I own always has at least one thing about them that bothers me. Not these.
Let’s start with whats most important – the sound. It’s audio fidelity is insanely good. It take a good week or so of tweaking with the EQ setting to getting them exactly as you want them but it’s WELL worth the effort. I tried the presets and they just didn’t do it for me. I used the inbuilt testing system to build a pattern for each ear and then jsut tweaked this to take the brightness out of it. Now I’ve got gorgeous full bass tones, I can hear the defenition of sticks on cycmbals and the guitars are crunching along like they’re supposed to (I’m listening to Spoons new album as I write this). I listen to an array of music and these things keep up with ALL of it. Perfectly. The mix and dynamics across my ears make these the best headphones I own by a LONGSHOT. I’ve Jabras, Sennheisers, Sonys, Beats – these just win every time.
Everything else – case is stupily slim and easy to get around in a pocket. They charge in no time (USB-C). Connection never drops (with iPhone).
Call Quality is great (as I use these when out walking and on calls with work) – I’d love a mute button but can do without it given all the other plusses. Mute background noise and wind really well and they never fall out.
The button presses are effective and simple. Always work!
They are crazy comfy – plenty of wings and earbud options to get you the fit you need. Again, worth playing around with. Once you have it they just won’t move.
From someone who has spent a LOT of money on headphones over the years – save yourself any more trouble and just buy these. Be patient with the fit and EQ to get them set up for you. Once you do you won’t regret it.
With having that in mind- Nothing yet replaces wired head phones in the industry.
These pair serve the primary purpose of swapping calls between my laptop and mobile during office hours. When call come through while in a meeting I am able to pick up that call then swap back to office call on my laptop. A bit trivial at first but you get used to it. Choice of fittings supplied for comfort. Noise cancellation 95% very good. Transparent allows noise in too. Sound quality I can live with but not a music fan. Tested Star Wars and the battles sound great. Stylish by the way. Love the Silver colour giving Sci-fi looks. Apple/Android both Rocks. Charge wise I got 3+ hours in Noise cancellation. Think it last 5 to 6 hours not totally sure I don’t really care. After 2 hours or 3 hours I normally put them back in the case then back on again. So by that time they are charged again. My use will be different then my dogs of course. He likes music. 😉
I bought 3 pairs of B&W 350 ear phones that should have done what these do, but they were all faulty. Great sound, but seriously flawed electronics and manufacture. These are everything those Bowers and Wilkins should have been.
1. I have installed the Comply ear tips as I always get irritated by silicone and they provide an amazing seal and improve sound isolation.
2. I have completed HearId and love the result. B&W did not have this. Now I have the sound profile of B&W and more tonality, more richness with less booming bass, but this can be added any time if I want it. Yes there are ample EQ settings which can be integrated into HearId!
3. Everything just works with the latest firmware update. If they do sleep though they need to go back into the case to get sound to come out of my iPhone 12.
4. The ANC can be adjusted to automatic or manual. So for earphones these are as good as any I’ve had and way better than B&W PI7’s.
5. Transparency is good but perhaps the extra vocal setting is a bit hissy, but totally tolerable. It’s an EQ tweak that advances speech I think and in their place very useful.
6. The case is a great and as good as the B&W PI7’s except that they don’t transmit bluetooth sound from analogue devices. (But that was a great feature of Bowers PI7’s poorly executed as the earphones just became faulty and the usb c port failed on the B&W PI7 case.) Admittedly the earphones get stored in a strange way, but it works and is very svelte in the pocket and light. They do fit in the little pocket on Wrangler jeans.
7. The app is great on IOS and just works. A class above anything Bowers and Wilkins could deliver.
8. The packaging is more satisfying than that of Apple!
9. Did I mention that the fit of these is amazing and can be tailored to your ears. They have never fallen out on my walks. With the Comply Tips they can’t even be felt in my ear. I wear them all day and use them with Microsoft Teams video chat for office work. No complaints.
10. The sound signature of Soundcore is perfection. Indistinguishable from Bowers & Wilkins. The soundstage is wide, but not quite as spacious as Bowers and Wilkins PX7 headphones, but they sound so similar I keep swapping them to compare the sound in disbelief.
I cannot stress how happy these have made a 60 year old with not great hearing (85% ok) and tinnitus (quiet high pitch whining continuous in both ears) I use these to drown out these aggravating sounds with Bossa Nova Office Jazz music almost all day. I have had these for a few days and am delighted. If anything changes I will update this review. Full marks to Anker for these Liberty 3 Pro in black.
I have owned many earbuds (B&O, Bose, Samsung, Jabra, Jaybird…) to the point I’m quite obsessed with them.
Once you get the right EQ (that is also customable using the app) these are personally by far the best sounding earbuds. Audiophile quality – clean sound and brilliant ANC! Bear in mind these retail at 149 with offers popping up now and again. For what you pay you get a lot of features in which you will only find in earbuds over 200. The app also makes the controls in the earbuds very customable!
Although they are in the “bigger” side they’re comfortable – I cant why you will not find the right fit as it comes with lots of ear tips and wings.
If there is any cons it would be it’s size and putting the earbuds back in it’s case – not as easy as just chucking them back in the case as like the other earbuds.
Other than that they are pretty much perfect for what you pay.
Unfortunately left earbud is quite often disconnecting from charging case. Also the case is not closing to full after a week of use.
They might be to big for small ears.
I have small ears and they fall from my ears from time to time specially when using them during eating when moving my jaw they getting out it is funny to write down such things but I hope it will help you to make right choice in case you have small ear bear in mind they might not be very stable.
I love the way they sound found them more pleasant and detailed sound that the best selling Q30 headphones.
Battery life is very good but 4 stars for left one keep disconnecting.
I have had numerous wireless earphones over the past couple of years, but have always kept to the sub 30 bracket, always wondering, how much of a difference a premium pair can really offer, especially as the MPOW ones in particular are very good. But WOW, once you try, there truly is no going back. Its like Bluray over VHS, its like a PS5 over a playstation 1, its a world apart. Sound quality is like full over ear 200+ headphones. Noise reduction is hugely impressive and the bass is both customisable to your preference but is truly astounding. The App this comes with is also fantastic, it takes 15 minutes to fully set it up to your exact hearing ability but once done, you hear parts of music you have overlooked and never heard before. Regardless of your taste in music, this truly is life changing and at the price an excellent purchase. I dont leave reviews often, but this deserves to be heard!
I bought these earbuds as a replacement for the airpod pros, i was one of the few that suffer with the airpod pros constantly falling out my ears.
glad to report that i do not suffer any issues with fitment on the Soundcores. They are very comfortable and stay secure when moving, eating, talking – a massive improvement over the airpods which would fall out even when sat still working.
The sound quality is amazing, i was genuinely surprised how much more full sounding they are than the airpod pros. On the first day i was sat smiling – they just hit different to what i was used to – even for a non-audiophile like me, just listening to streamed music.
I have marked down the noise cancelling, as for my use case the transparency mode is no where near as good / clever as it is on the airpod pros.
Other than that, my only gripe is my iphone won’t automatically use the earbuds as audio/mic source when answering calls, i have to tap the sound button and pick them from the list – i imagine thats something i could resolve but honestly its a non-issue.
These are good earbuds. They fit well and are comfortable to wear for long duration. Sound quality is very good. However the sound drops for about a second during playback every half hour or so (meaning the BT buffer in the buds is inadequate)
Their problem is the for 60 more you can have the Sony WF-1000XM4 that IS BETTER IN EVERY CATEGORY, including sound quality! To make these competitive, the price needs to drop.
Elsewhere the case is badly designed and the buds do not go easly in; you have to be careful to position them corrected, otherwise they do not charge. Taking then out of the case is also difficult due to the design. Battery life is OK but not stellar. I only use LDAC connection, and I got 3.5 hours off a full charge.
A price drop and a firmware update to remove sound dropouts will make these a best buy, but as such I sent mine back and kept the Sony WF-1000XM4.
The noise cancellation is really good – I could compare it to my over ear Sony ones! Its still strange as the reviews on these online are quite mixed bag. But I think its down to the fit. The ear buds have to sit snuggly in your ear canal – this improves the sound/bass and gives good passive noise cancellation, which helps with the active noise cancellation. If they are too lose, you lose the ANC and sound.
The Sound out of box is quite treble sharp… the bass to me wasn’t ever too strong though. Running the app that scans your ear really helps to make the sound stage really good. Surprisingly nice, no complaints there.
Cons,,, The right earbud started not want to charge or connect. Too many times soI had no option but to return these. Anker’s great support was offering a Hermes collection/replacement but as I’m not home always, I opted to return to Amazon. Unfortunately when trying ordering a replacement, the price had gone up. So I’m waiting for price going down again… I do want to have these agai
These buds have a wonderfully clear, vibrant sound, they have very good ANC that is very close to the more expensive, but exceptional WF-1000XM4 by Sony. To have those you’d be adding around an extra 70 to the budget at time of writing. They both have very comprehensive apps that greatly enhance the functionality /use of the buds. I would have preferred a set of Comply eartips to have been thrown in to the bundle here, but it certainly isn’t a deal breaker. Everything is improved from the Liberty 2’s, and they were a good set of buds. The Liberty 3’s are certainly comfortable, the wings add an extra layer of security, preventing them falling out, the touch controls work well and are very responsive, in fact in my opinion, at this price point I’d say it would be a real challenge to find a better all round excellent set of buds, that in many ways is very close to the XM4’s. It. Is of course subjective, and you have to select the right eartips, with a good seal or they could potentially sound quite flat, but that goes for all Truly Wireless earbuds. Personally, I highly recommend these, at this price point I’ve not used better.
I tried this alongside a pair of Sony WF-1000XM3.
The Soundcore were better sounding but only after a lot of work in the setup. Straight out of the box, the Soundcore have a very V shaped frequency response with emphasised treble, bass and a recessed mid-band. In the app, you can change this, either to use a custom curve which is built to match your hearing or a variety of cookie-cutter curves of which I found the flat curve to be best and to this I added a touch warmth in the lower midband. Once set up, the Soundcore is more extended in the treble and has a touch more realism. The warm sound of the Sony flatters everything.
That all took work and if you want something that works straight out of the box, the Sony is better. The default sound is warmer. You can customise it but it hardly necessary.
Sony noise reduction is better than Soundcore. The latter has a touch of hiss with the noise reduction switched on. I think the reason for this is that the two driver Soundcore is more extended in the top and this makes a touch of hiss more audible. The treble of the Sony is rolled off and this gives it some natural noise reduction. When you are playing music, the small amount of his is not audible. Transparency is better on the Soundcore.
The controls are a dead heat. It is easier with the Sony to cycle through the noise reduction modes. With the Soundcore, I only managed to switch between noise reduction on and transparency. You can use the controls on the Soundcore to change the volume where this is not possible with the Sony.
I didn’t notice the difference in battery life between the two. I didn’t run out of batteries with either and I was going several days between charges, using the battery in the case. The Soundcore is easier to use with multiple devices. The Sony case is easier to use but the Soundcore is noticeable smaller and easy to accommodate in a shirt pocket. With the Sony case, it is easier to centre the earphones in their slots without having to concentrate. I didn’t use LDAC which is supposed to drastically reduce battery life.
I found the fit and seal of the Soundcore closer and they were less likely to fall out although because it was so tight, at times and in a quiet room, between tracks, I could hear my own heartbeat. This was less the case with the Sony.
Overall, a roughly even result. Soundcore gives you a better result with more work where the Sony puts in a mature performance that works first time.
These were the latest releases from Soundcore and had received very positive reviews from others so I decided to give them a go. So far they are definitely the best I have tried from a wireless bud perspective! The fit for me is fantastic and they are not too heavy so the wear comfortably all day.
I use these daily for work and the connection has been rock solid. Connecting to two devices at once is very handy and just makes them easy to use.
The ANC feature works very well at cutting out background noise which is handy in certain situations and likewise the transparency mode is very useful and works well.
Listening to music is head and shoulders above other buds I’ve used and there is full customisation with the sound profile which can be tailored to your personal preference.
Battery life takes a hit if they are constantly in transparency or NC mode so I don’t tend to use these all the time if I want a full day of use without charging them.
Overall definitely very happy with these so no regrets whatsoever. If your looking for a good set of buds for both work and music this definitely should be considered.
Activate LDAC in your phone and the quality is incredible. Volume is good on these but not quite enough for me.. loading a Sound Booster app on my phone did the trick.
Sadly I noticed that the left earbud wasn’t connecting, with a charge staying at 10% no matter how long they were in the case. After trying various things I had to return them…
I loved these earbuds.. would I buy another pair… well no, the first pair from Anker and they’re faulty which doesn’t give me much confidence with these…. though I have many other things from Anker this puts me off
I have just worn these Liberty 3 Pro ear buds for several hours on a flight and on a very windy beach. The noise cancelling was absolutely superb. When activated, I could not hear anything at all. Nothing. Complete silence. The Soundcore app runs through a test diagnostic while you wear them. It will identify if the fit is good or if you need to change the soft silcone ear buds for the best noise cancellation. It will also test your current range of hearing, and then build a sound profile for your ears. I was astounded at how good that was. I mean, truly exceptional. They are very comfortable to wear, and will not fall out no matter how hard you try, so must be good for sports and dancing too.
Sound quality. – The bass is the best I have ever heard on ear buds, and the noise cancellation appears to be highly effective. The sound is really defined too, not booming or muffled or distant.
Operation – You simply hold your finger against either the left or right bud for 2 seconds to enable or disable the noise cancellation. One tap on the left decreases the volume and one tap on the right to increase it. The Soundcore app makes it easy to reassign the actions to the taps. The charging case is perfect. Really easy to put in and take out. Very small too, with a neat slide action lid, which made it easy to use in the confined space on a plane. They fit really well and are low profile when you are wearing them. I was surprised at how small they were. They looked bigger in the advertising.
My final verdict. – I ordered all the review topping buds and these are the ones I kept. Very pleased and would highly recommend them. I ordered the white and silver/grey colours. I elected to keep the silver/grey. Stunning if you can still get that colour. The white was tempting, but everyone said the silver/grey was head and shoulders better in terms of appearance. These ear buds have got it all. Great for sports, great for sound quality, great for making phone calls, connects to my laptop and my phone simultaneously, so great for Teams meetings and taking phone calls too. Plus they look just amazing.
These ear buds have got to be my best purchase of the year and I do buy quite a bit of tech stuff, the sound quality is absolutely amazing come from my Amazon Echo Buds the original 1’s I couldn’t believe the difference in sound quality of these it really rocked me when I switched the setting to LDAC with Amazon music HD and using a Samsung Note 10 5G plus they really do sound superb, I bought them on the first week of release so I got the sale price of 99 here on Amazon, I bought them after seeing and reading quite a few reviews and I didn’t see or read a bad 1 they were praised for the quality by every review I seen but it was already in my mind to buy them because I had bought a pair of Soundcore Motion Booms which I use for my music and they sit each side of my TV and are used for TV speakers which works really well but on the music side they have absolutely beautiful sound even on full volume and with True Wireless Stereo sound so good so I already had a taste of Soundcore products so I expected the buds to be good but not as good as they turned out to be. When you work out the right tips and wings for your ears which can be a bit of a chore but that’s because you have so much choice when you first buy them and once you work out the size they sit beautifully in the ears with a snug fit in the ears and you can feel that they are not going anywhere whatever I have done they have never fallen out, battery life is not bad at all I think I’m getting about 3 hrs out of them using the LDAC setting on them that does use a bit more battery over other settings but we’ll worth the sacrifice of battery over sound quality definitely worth the compromise and to the noise cancellation you have 3 settings, I must say I only ever use transparency mode so that I can hear everything around me when out and about you also get HearID and normal mode but in all they do a good job on the noise isolation, once you do the HearID test which sets them up for your ears personally, they sound tremendous, they come with 4 sets of button taps that you set up to suit yourself I only use the single tap and double tap and hold for 2’s myself but you also have the choice of triple tap in the control settings you also get sound effects settings which provide you with HearID, default mode, 3D surround and custom mode so there’s plenty to mess about with to suit your sound taste and also there is a more settings tab in the Soundcore app which you must download to use the buds and I’m was quite impressed to see they’ve had 2 or 3 updates to the buds since I’ve had them it’s nice to see that they are not just sold and forgotten about but I do have faith in Soundcore to keep updating although to be honest I can’t see anywhere the buds need improving the app it’s self a quite a simple app but easy to navigate and use so 10/10 for the app, on to the buds if could I would give them 12/10 because I’m so impressed with them all in all a perfect sounding, great fitting pair of buds with good noise cancellation so if your in the market for new buds I would say go for these, I have changed the ear bud tips over to memory foam tips just because that’s my preferred choice for my ears not that there was anything wrong with the tips they came but for me it’s memory foam so my ears don’t build up pressure inside , the buds do come with pressure release so thats another plus for them with some thought gone in to that, so anyone who likes they’re music sounding good, loud and bang on Soundcore is the way to go.
I didn’t believe the hype, but then I got them and compared them side by side by myself!
If you buy memory foam tips (Check the Comply for Sony, Anker and Sony tips are exactly the same and lock in the same way) the ANC is practically the same as the Sony WH-1000XM4!
The sound it’s also very similar in all ranges, although I found it a bit piercing in the Anker ones. Using the software to analyze your hearing and adjusting the EQ on top of that helps on this!
I am seriously VERY IMPRESSED with Anker. They just need to polish a couple of stupid bugs in the app (like you have to do the ANC auto adjust test twice in order to have it set) and they’ll have a solid product. The next product will be definitely even better than Sony if they continue at this peace, so focused on the user and giving out so much value with functionality Sony is years away.
The only thing worse than the Sony is the pass-through functionality, it doesn’t reproduce low frequencies very well so everything sounds as if you applied a filter decreasing the low frequencies. I am sure they’ll figure it out soon in their frequent updates.
Absolutely amazing sound quality from listening with LDAC mode enabled on my Glaxay Z Flip 3 will update you with battery life results which understandable takes a hit with this supper high quality mode enabled.
I didn’t know I was such an audio file until I listened to these earphones with LDAC enabled compared to the normal AAC mode. The bass and response is amazing sounds like I’m listening to my music from a big and quality speaker with bass bost.
The EQ mode I used was a custom EQ profile which I created see screenshot. I was sitting here all alone in my room jamming to the tunes absolutely amazing. Loving these buds.
I had the new Galaxy Buds Pro and the sound quality of these Soundcore Buds is sooo much better and there is no comparison for the bass such lovely warm bass. And the sound is not harsh.
The best thing is you can tune the sound to your liking.
One thing I wish Anker would update is a way to track and find your buds if you misplace or lose them. Hope to see this in an app update.
Firstly these ear buds are really, REALLY good. They have top-notch sound quality (especially using LDAC); good battery life considering the use of ANC (and fast charging); very effective ANC – perfect for travelling; they are very comfortable for long-term wear; possibly the best call quality of any buds on the market.
There are however three minor down-sides (for me):
1) the connection can drop occasionally but immediately re-connects – a very minor issue at most;
2) there is noticeable latency (particularly when watching TikTok or YouTube – seems most pronounced when in LDAC mode) – this latter issue is very distracting and makes them difficult to recommend if you do a lot of watching streamed video content; it doesn’t really bother me too much as I mainly use the buds for music and podcasts.
3) The buds don’t always go into the case properly, nor connect to it, then don’t charge. This may be partly due to the use of larger ear wings.
The sound in a little quieter than the Liberty 2 Pros, and is not quite so bass orientated as on the earlier model either.
Overall however a good upgrade over the Liberty 2 Pro, which had great (possibly better) sound but no ANC and their materials and fit made them more tiring to wear for long periods; well worth the upgrade if you travel lots and want/need ANC, and are not too video-centric in your use. They should also make a very credible (and cheap) alternative to the AirPods Pro or Galaxy buds (and the like) for a similar use-case.
For reference, I mostly use them with an Oppo (Android) phone so the above experience reflects that use.
Update: left bud battery seems to be failing – not taking charge / losing charge quickly – but helpful contact with CSR Justin has out me on track to get them returned for replacement – thanks Justin.
Bit fiddly when placing them in charging pod also be careful when having 2 devices connected to it as iOS seems still to be connected to it which then drains the battery out of the right side EarPod – Bass is excellent but these if you like your hip hop – EQ on App can satisfy your choice of hearing – ANC is not as good as Sonys but does the job very well but if you are at home it works very well. I would definitely recommend these – the box contains many replacement earbud tips and also wings which is excellent for getting the right fit. The app and getting to wear the earbuds properly is crucial to getting the best sound. Some people have written about these saying they don’t work correctly I would advise them to first set the earbuds up properly which one should do when buying any other earbuds. The build quality is good – if you need more advice then watch some YouTube reviews. There are some reviews which say the Bang and Olufson or B&W or Sonys or Sennhiesers are better and they are probably right However by how much is questionable also they cost a lot more. For Voice calls they are adequate but then I am not doing many calls anyway, I bought these purely for music. So in a nutshell if you want some cheap and bassy very EQ’uable snug fitable Earbuds then buy these!
Headphones and earphones are a very subjective piece of kit.
What one person thinks is great, another may hate, simply because we all hear slightly differently.
An example is the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 headphones.
Loads of really positive reviews, yet I bought them and returned them within 24 hours because I thought they sounded awful!
It was after returning those and wondering what I can get instead, that I came across these.
Now, I have said it before, I am a big fan of Anker stuff. It is well made, well priced and their customer service is about the best I have experienced.
So. at the point of writing this (October 2021) these have only just been released. This means I am a bit of a guinea pig, but also trying to write a balanced review for prospective buyers.
NB. I purchased these myself so this review is going to be honest.
I will also update once I have used them a little longer.
The box they arrived in is quite striking and is aimed to have you feel you have purchased a premium product. It is solid and weighty. You know the contents will be safe.
There is lots of stuff about them being endorsed by something like 20 Grammy award winning producers. You know, the sort of marketing hype that is so common nowadays.
When I opened the box even this old cynic was impressed!
On the left is a set of diagrams on how to get the best fit in your ear (more on that in a moment).
In the middle are multiple sizes of the silicone buds that go in your ear, and the buds that sit on your outer ear.
On the right are the ear buds (I think of them in old fashioned terms as In Ear Monitors – IEM’s) and the carrying/charging case they will sit in when not in your ear.
Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the presentation and it works.
Now the guide on the left had me puzzled at first. I know how to put these things in I thought. Then I realised there are 2 parts to the way they sit in your ear.
The problem with in ear monitors is keeping the damn things in your ear so they work to their best!
Here they have designed them so the part that sits on the outer part of your ear has a silicone sleeve to help keep things in place. Then a second silicone sleeve is used for the bit that goes in your ear.
They come in 3 sizes, small, medium and large for both bits.
You could, in theory have small and medium in 1 ear and both medium in the other ear.
In practice I found the medium size to work perfectly for me.
They are comfortable with an excellent seal and I have not had them come loose in a few gym sessions since purchase.
Also there has been no sweating issues or that feeling of pressure in my ears.
So top marks for fit and seal.
Now, before I get on to the sound, I have to talk about the app…
The Soundcore app should be the benchmark for others to be measured against. It is that good!
So many features, but you don’t have to use them.
If you wish, you can just pair them via bluetooth (simple and pretty much instant after the first time) and listen as you would normally.
But, if you do go into the app – and I strongly recommend you do – you have a range of options.
There are a multitude of EQ settings, options on noise cancelling and a couple of new ones on me.
As things are new there will be regular updates. That is not to say they it is unstable at all. It has worked perfectly for me.
HearID is where a range of frequencies are played to your ears at a very low level – so you need to run this test in a very quiet environment – to identify how you hear.
Once complete it creates a custom EQ setting for your hearing.
It actually works too!
There is also the same test run for getting the best out of the ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). In that one you want to be in a noisy environment – I used the gym.
Now, how do these things sound then?
Absolutely fantastic, to my ears anyway.
Strong bass and really clear mids and highs. In short a wonderfully rounded sound that actually makes me smile!
It will show up lower quality recordings, they simply won’t sound as lively as a really good track.
An example is Chocolate by Snow Patrol on Amazon Music. That sounds gorgeous with real depth and clarity.
Switch to Street Spirit by Radiohead and it lacks the same level of depth – still sounds good though.
The noise cancelling really surprised me. I put them into my ears at the gym and before I had even put any music on, the outside noise was almost turned off!
It does not block out everything, but it was a huge difference.
I still have a pair of Shure wired IEM’s which were a lot more than these when I bought them a few years ago and I did a comparison.
The Soundcore’s just sound better!
Now I have not tried these against the offerings from Sony and Bose but I would be amazed if they sound better.
Gripes? Minor ones.
Some foam tips would have been a nice touch. I love the Comply tips for a perfect seal in the ear.
Placing the IEM’s in the charging case can be a little fiddly at first. You have to get into the habit of putting them in a certain way which is counter-intuitive to me.
And that is about it.
For the price, they are astonishing and should be given serious consideration before you spend a lot more on the above choices!
I will update again in a couple of weeks once they have had some more use.
Update 08.11.21.
So, a couple of weeks in now and I continue to be amazed at how good these are.
I have used them extensively in the gym, out running and just walking around.
They have not fallen out, or even felt like they were going to at any point.
I fully charged them when I got them and the case still has 50% remaining with the earbuds at 100%.
Battery life is not a concern.
Did a firmware update last week and no problems at all.
Never had a single connection issue in all the time I have been using them, which is probably in excess of 12 hours so far.
2 friends tried these at the weekend and were blown away by the sound quality. One of them uses Sony’s XM4 headphones and the other Airpods. Both are now waiting to see if these get reduced in the Black Friday sales later this month!
Overall these are still hugely impressive and I really don’t get the negative reviews citing poor connection/poor fit and especially sound quality!
I should also add I am not using the very latest phone with them either. My personal phone is a Galaxy S9, something over 3 years old now.
If these were not good, I would say it (my Bowers and Wilkin’s PX7’s review is an example!)
These are probably the best earbuds you can buy when you take into account cost, battery life and sound quality.
Having spent 24 hours with these I can say that so far they have been great.
Setup was simple using the Soundcore app which also performed a firmware update when I set the LDAC option on.
Sound quality is excellent for the price point. I have both the Liberty Pro 2 and Bose QC earbuds and to my ear these are better than both.
Noise cancelling is also very good on these, but I would say Bose ANC is a little better but there’s not much in it.
For the price point these are a great set of buds that are built to a high standard and feel like they will last.
Finally the fit options are good and they sit snug in the ear without feeling lose or causing any discomfort.
If you are looking for a great set of buds at a good price you really can’t go wrong with these…

My quick (not so quick) review of my Liberty 3 Pro earbuds, i did have initial concerns regarding the fit but i explain how that changed.
Any concerns on the fit are fading — they aren’t moving — they’re just smaller and therefore not contacting with the ear so much and just with the fin so they don’t feel as present as the 2’s do.
When you take them off they just easily pop out and that was giving me this false sense that they weren’t in so well. But overall it’s an improvement on the 2’s the pressure on the ear is lowered and therefore i can happily listen for several hours without getting any discomfort or fatigue and even in my odd ears (i cannot use any normal IEM’s without them falling out in 10s) i can use a combination of the smallest tips and largest fins and they feel great. I did switch the tips out in the end for a set of Feaulle H370 Latex tips simply because they offer a slight improvement for me in fit but had i not got these tips anyway i would have been perfectly happy to use the included ones.
The included ear tips “snap” onto the steps rather than just slide on they have a firm plastic core which is secure and there’s pretty much zero chance of the tips falling off the stems.
I think for the same asking price as the 2’s (15 cheaper for me) they’re a real no brainer. The HearID ANC is perfect for casual listening — it’s not as strong as some brands’ is but it similarly almost disappears and in my office the computer noise and other minor sounds are just knocked back that bit further without feeling like you’re in that heavy ANC territory.
Haven’t yet tried them in a noisy environment with full/heavy ANC enabled yet. But sitting in the same room as someone with the TV on and a fan while i was listening to podcasts was perfect. Almost no noise from the environment bled in. Similarly, these buds offer a great seal and when i was in a quiet room i asked my wife to listen to see if she could hear any bleed from my buds while i had the volume on much louder than i would normally and she couldn’t hear a thing so great for public transport and being in an office where you don’t want to annoy others with your music.
App — The Android app has been twice updated recently with these so they’re picked up straight away — I did have to wait about 3 days following purchase before the firmware was released. However, contacting support via email they did follow up when they said they would and came good on the update and were polite and helpful. So a definite plus for aftersales care.
The HeadID worked the same the ANC test crashed a couple of times and didn’t compelte so bugs are present in the app/firmware. This is still present the ANC test i always have to do 2 times before it completes without fail.
I do find the HearID and EQ options inside the app a little confusing and it seems there’s a couple of ways to achieve the same thing like custom profile for HearID
Click HearID Test > HearID Sound Test then you can personalise (on) then click Advanced > Custom HearID is one way i do it.
I’ve had it erase my EQ profile without warning now twice so that’s a little irritating again i don’t know if this is firmware on the buds or the app messing up.
The buttons are all configurable including turning off individually — so you could turn off single-tap to prevent accidents. You can have up to 3 taps although timing takes a little practice
Multi-point is a feature a lot of people wanted but be aware that if you switch these into LDAC the option for multipoint goes dark and you cannot use it so it’s an “either or” situation. for that if you want the best sound quality
The ear seal tests work and says they’re ok.
The sound quality is generally better bass is less by default than it was before and a step up i think, it’s cleaner and tighter lot less boomy and more precise.
Bassheads might find this a step back i don’t think bass is as hard hitting on the sub-bass as the Liberty 2 Pro+ were.
Case is smaller than previous by a bit very sleek has white lights under them so you can find them in the dark
Package is great 4 sets of tips and fins
Fit and finish is top notch, the brass stems looks solid and the buds feel grat charge case is a lot smoother and more slippery in the hand than the 2Pro’s case and feels little looser at times.
Sound stage feels wider and a little more easy ANC on adaptive mode is subtle and absolutely does not give you that locked in pressure. But i feel it isn’t quite fully stable yet (feels like it comes in and out — that could be the adaptive nature but i “feel” something every now and then)
Had a few random disconnections while listening, just feels like the buds are resetting something every 30-40 minutes just get 2s of silence and then resumption
Am enjoying the fit and sound of these more and more as i listen more.
The fit is lighter pressure than the 2 pro design the rubber fins are softer and hollow bubbles of rubber rather than a solid curve of rubber so they flex more and cushion
Means they feel not as secure but in a good amount of listening they’ve not once lost their seal.
Range is tremendous — i know LDAC offers less stability than lower codecs due to the higher bitrate. But i had my phone on my desk at the very front of the house and i was stood on our deck at the back of the house (so 3 rooms, a good 12 meters away and 2 stone walls) and i was still getting a signal. So that’s a win considering how tiny the buds are.
Battery life — haven’t run them to depletion yet and after a good 2 or 3 hours listening in LDAC + ANC i’m still showing well more than 1/2 battery so i think on LDAC i’d get maybe 5 or 6 hours and with Non-ANC + AAC probably closer to 8 or more hours. Case is wireless or USB-C charge so modern and convenient.
Listening to (all via Spotify) – as you can see — a various mix of genres
Gorillaz – Dare (for bass)
Marian Herzog – No Sanctuary Here (hearing the background noise and piano keys / seat creaking)
Joep Beving – Sleeping Lotus (lots of ambiance)
Terje Lsungset – Ung (bass/sub-bass)
Dominic Miller – Shape of my Heart
The Prodigy – Climbatize
Trifonic – Ninth Wave (feels nice and open with lots of positional sound and a great amount of bass which doesn’t muddy the track)
Sizzle Bird – Elixir
Ella Mai – Everything
Pantera – Far Beyond Driven (mids tight metal)
Alanis Morissette – Princes Familiar Unplugged
Rage Against the Machine – Take The Power Back (tight drums / bass but feels more airy than many iems until the beat drops)
Final points / pro’s & Con’s
Bugs in the app / firmware — small issue with the EQ settings getting reset and also the sound cutting out — but i know these can be fixed in firmware and it’s not too bad a problem now LDAC has been fixed
Pro’s
Definitely stronger than 2Pro’s in sound – wider, cleaner, more precise and less muddy.
Fit and finish is top notch and worthy of top-tier buds
Price! 1/2 the price of Sony XM4 – no brainer really
App – Plenty of flexibility / options / control
Con’s
Minor bugs remain
Bass for some might not be as hard-hitting as 2Pro’s
Slippery case
Multi-point pairing only accessible outside of LDAC mode
