This product has been working really well with my Mac!
Trying to find a Thunderbolt 3 adapter that can output 4k @60hz to 2 external screen on Macbook Pro at a great price.
Didn’t want to use HDMI and found this dock with DisplayPort. Very happy with this docking station/usb-c/thunderbolt extension though admittedly I’ve only used the display port function so far .
The product is as described and it is compatible with mac os Monterey. I’ve tested to connect a screen and it is work well.
This dock is great.
It has all the ports you could wish for when using a newer laptop, in my case a 2019 16″ MacBook Pro.
The addition of the DP connection is also a welcome addition in my case despite it being an aging technology that is starting to disappear in daily use in commercial environments.
I always seem to find a use for the DP port on a frequent basis due to the fact that the majority of locations where I hold presentations haven’t updated their technology so it is always important that I have the adapter I need and this does the job perfect for me.
Overall, I highly recommend it.
The only downside is I find disconnecting an ethernet cable from the ethernet port can be quite difficult to do, and I worry I’m going to break it.
I bought this adapter to use with my MacBook Air M1.
2. Did the adapter compatible/work well with your device?
All features work well with my laptop so far.
-1440p Ultrawide at 100Hz and,
– a second 1440p at 75Hz.
Further, the two port USB-C plug feels very secure in the laptop.
Dock does get quite warm while operating, but it’s not too hot to touch or anything.
Its vastly expanded the number of devices I can connect simultaneously…and it looks good too
Just what I needed for my first mac laptop whose used to Windows laptops.
Works perfectly with my 2018 15″ MacBook Pro, seamlessly feeds 2 external screens (not 3 despite the 2 HDMI and the DisplayPort connectors).
I have had no issues with this whatsoever works like a dream, would highly recommend, worth every pound.
I got this when my new MacBook Pro wouldn’t connect properly to my monitor with my old docking station. Bought this, plugged the stuff in and…problem solved.
The only problem I have is that it isn’t DisplayLink compatible, and with the Apple M1 chip not supporting more than 1 external display via USB-C, only 1 external HDMI display can be attached using this docking station, if you’re on a MacBook Pro 13 M1. Any additional displays won’t be detected. If you have a standard M1 13″ MacBook Pro (not M1 Pro or M1 Max) and need 2 or more external displays, you will need to buy a docking station or dongle that is has support for DisplayLink.
Other than that, it’s a good device.
I’m not the one using it as I had bought it for my brother, but so far it works well and he hasn’t had any issues with it. He uses it for the MacBook air M1 and it works properly. definitely worth the money.
Good docking station that fits and works well. Four stars.
This is sleek looking, compact, and well designed. , It’s making my life so much easier. I have two HDMI cords attached which operate an addition screen each off of my laptop; this gives me a total of three screens. The specifications seems a bit iffy on the ability to add two more screens…don’t worry, you can.it Works exactly as written up in the description. Plugs into the USB-C port on your laptop, and everything else plugs into it, and everything just works . Very pleased
The hub itself is touted as a 12 in 2 USB Laptop Docking Station. It certainly seems to be a near complete all in one solution for just about every need, and it opens up a huge array of options for your beloved Mac. Please note that this particular hub is specially designed for MacBook Pro/Air 2021/2020/2019/2018 models. It may fit others but check compatibility first before purchasing. You will need to ensure you have 2 thunderbolt ports on the side of your Mac for it to be compatible. I am using a 2019 MacBook Pro Touch Bar model and I am happy to confirm it works flawlessly with mine.
The hub is extremely well made and looks incredibly stylish too and has been machine finished to match the sleek and premium aluminium looks of your Mac. As I stated earlier it provides you with a plethora of additional ports and functionality to your home setup. The hub includes the following options:
2x 4K@60Hz HDMI ports
1x DP DisplayPort
2x USB 3.0 ports
2x USB 2.0 ports
1x Gigabit Ethernet adaptor
1x SD Card reader
1x Micro SD card reader
1x 100w PD Pass-through charge socket
1x 3.5mm Audio&Microphone jack
It’s a simple plug and play unit, as most are these days, and requires no drivers to install. The biggest advantage this hub offers over others it’s it’s ability to multi screen work out across up to 4 additional display screens. I have only ever needed to work across 2 screens myself on a daily basis, and on the odd occasion 3 maximum, but I have no doubt that this will appeal to a large number of people who require the additional 4th screen real estate. The dual HDMI ports can mirror or extend your screen up to 4K@60Hz and/or directly stream 4K UHD or Full HD video to a HDTV. It supports mirror mode in the following configuration A-A-A, and extended mode can be set to either A-B-B or A-B-C via these ports too.
The two USB 3.0 and 2 further USB 2.0 ports, support high data transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps and 480Mbps respectively and allow you to easily connect your smartphone/tablets/external hard drive etc. You can also connect a keyboard or mouse via one of the two USB 2.0 ports. The Ethernet Port also has a reasonably fast data capability speed of 1Gbps.
With the USB C to SD & Micro SD card reader you can easily browse photos instantly on your USB-C smartphone and the transfer of multiple photos takes just a few seconds to move across to your laptop. The manufacturers are reporting a transfer speed of up to 104MB/S. I didn’t test the speed myself but It was certainly quick enough for my needs and super easy to move files and pictures across to my Mac’s internal hard drive.
The inclusion of a 100W PD charge connector was most welcome too. This connector allows you to easily charge your MacBook Pro/Air or other devices through the dedicated USB-C port but it will also provide additional power for other accessories and peripherals which can make use of this port. Last but by no means least, you also have a 3.5mm Audio port for your headphones or speakers. I don’t personally use this port as I have Bluetooth speakers equipped for my home set up but I fully appreciate the option is here should you wish to take advantage of it.
Overall I really can’t fault this device in anyway and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone. It’s been designed to perfectly match the premium look and feel of your Mac and does that job admirably. Functionality is second to none and I really struggled to find something it didn’t have in the way of options that I would need to use. In fact, the only thing missing as far as I could tell is it doesn’t come supplied with any sort of storage pouch or travel case. That’s a little disappointing and a bit of a miss by the manufacturers I feel. Yes, it commands a hefty price premium but I really do think with this model you are genuinely paying for what you get. It has clearly been constructed using high quality parts and components and on that basis anyone would want to protect that investment when carrying the hub about or storing it when not in use. Come on team, add some storage protection for future iterations please. It’s a small but highly important point. Other than that minor gripe though this multipurpose hub is just about perfect.
Great hub, works seamlessly with the Macbook 12″ experienced no latency and was able to reliably back up a lot of files into external drives
Works really well, used on a late 2018 MacBook Air and it fits perfectly
“Long Story Short”
All looks like a PRO
Metal shell is cut perfectly.
All connectors are well designed and no issue with data transfer.
A bit of weight to it due to metal shell.
Value for money 10 out of 10
As computers are getting smaller and thinner there is no space for the extra cards that provide the ports so one has to purchase many adapters for different uses. That is where this adapter comes into play as it’s a great multi-port solution due to the number of ports it has. It has eveything one needs from USB 2.0, USB 3.0, HDMI Ports, a SD Card reader. One can connect an Apple Macbook to two monitors and the Macbook desktop is mirrored to both of them.
Apart from monitors this can also mirror the MAcbook to TVs that support the Mac OS and the Macbook can connect to so many devices, including an external Hard Drive.
This multi port adapter is well made to a good quality stanard, it’s strong and provides so many solutions at a low cost so it is good value and I am recommending it. Why pay over and over again for numerous adapters when this can do all one needs?
A great little hub. It fits via a short cord to the dual ‘C’ ports on your Mac and among the option is triple display, (via USB and/or HDMI,) an ethernet port, a USB charger, a headphone jack, and very handily, an SD slot for extra storage. I can’t see myself ever needing anymore than this. Thoroughly recommended.
The Docking Station has made it so much easyier instead of having loads of wires everywhere it makes it plugged in all in one which is great for my desk and I use all the ports too so not wasted at all.
It’s a 12 in 2 so allot better like others I’ve had for sure, it has all the ports you possible need I would say, it has 4 USB ports so I can plug it allot instead of different plugs so that’s even better.
I like the 100w PD as my other ones I’ve got doesn’t have thay and this helps allot for sure.
I defiently recommend for 12 in 2 as it’s so much easyier and it seems to be made well to, very happy.
Neat docking station and lightweight lots of ports for every wires you need. Save up a lot of space and looks tidy.
This adaptor is surely well made and I like the design that is specifically made to fit securely and efficiently into the ports of my Mac.
The quality and performances are as described and the price is fair, I just wish they would made one with also a VGA port to allow me to attach an older monito
It’s was really frustrating that my new computer only came with two built in usb c ports. By previous computer had a bank of 2 at front and 4 at the back. I need at least 5 to connect printer, scanner and the like. This USB C Hub has proved to be simply brilliant in allowing me to connect everything. Arrived well packed. World right out of the box being plug and play. Good value for money.
1. 2 x HDMI
2. 1 x DP
3. 2 x USB 3.0
4. 2 x USB 2.0
5. SD Card
6. Micro-SD Card
7. Ethernet
8. 3.5mm
9. PD 100W
Personally, I would have preferred not having the 2 x USB 2.0 ports and more USB 3.0 and/or a USB-C.
In terms of data transfer speed performance, I was not able to get anywhere the claimed 5Gbps. I do not know under what test conditions this was achieved but the real like figures are significantly lower from my experience. I run it with an external NVMe drive and it was around 440Mbps. I have achieved 1Gbps when the drive is plugged into a USB-C port, which this hub does not have. The 5Gbps is often quoted as being “theoretical”. This is no different to other hubs I have tested.
Connecting it up to my two WQHD (2K) monitors was no problem, either via HDMI+HDMI or HDMI+DP. Depending on how you are going to connect this up, the max refresh rate is going to be 60Hz for dual screen and 30Hz for triple and that is in extend mode — less in Mirror.
With regards to Ethernet performance, mine only goes up to 75Mbps, so I cannot comment on the claimed 1Gbps.
Overall, I think this is a decent and well made hub but for me it is missing a dedicated USB-C port in order to achieve higher transfer rates.
I purchased this adapter to use with my 2019 MacBook Pro. It’s currently supporting 2 external displays with independent screens, wired ethernet, several usb devices, as well as charging my laptop without any issues.
Very happy with the device, it works well and I’ve been able to get rid of several separate dongles (2x usb-c to HDMI, 1x usb-c to ethernet) as well as a usb hub from my desk.
I can use flash drive with USB connecting to my Mac Book Pro.
I can add SD cards for storage, and read cards too.
Top Tip : This will open up a whole new world for your laptop. Never used a hub? Try this, and see how it opens things up.
At 54.99, at the time of writing,
This :
Docking Station Dual Monitor for MacBook Pro Air Adapter,12 IN 2 USB C Hub Dock Dongle Dual Monitor Displayport, 2 HDMI 4K@60Hz USB Accessories with Gigabit Ethernet,4 USB Ports,SD/TF Card,100W PD
Looks to be a pretty cool, pretty versatile, and a very useful, USB hub.
But…
Is it?
Is it any good?
Is it good value?
Are there many more of these annoying questions, still to come?
Well… to answer these, plus any further questions, we might accidentally stumble over, during the course of my meandering, and often erratic, review, we should pop on our crash helmets , and rev up our metaphorical bikes, as we hit the highway, and motor on over , to take a further look… …
Born to be wild…
It arrives in a nicely presented, retail ready box.
It makes a very good first impression.
Out of the box, and you get:
1 x 12 in 1 USB Hub
Nice and simple.
Just like me.
Umm…
The hub’s build quality looks excellent.
It’s constructed from light, sleek, strong aluminium.
It looks, and feels top quality.
The metal finish adds a real touch of quality, and finesse.
It has no ragged edges, no mould marks on the plastic, or no dodgy junctions.
It’s all perfectly finished and looks the business.
Port wise, it has the following selection included:
1 x 3.5mm Audio Port
1 x RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Port
1 x DP Port
2 x HDMI 4K Ports
2 x USB 3.0 Port
2 x USB 2.0 Ports
1 x TF/SD Card Slot
1 x 100W PD Pass Through Charging Port
That is 12 ports, which give it it’s 12 in 1 Hub name.
It’s a very balanced selection.
Considered and well-thought-out to give it maximum bang for buck.
The 4K HDMI Video Outputs, enables you to mirror or extend the display of your laptop to your TV, monitor, or projector.
Pretty cool .
And double the fun, as there are two of them, both able to run simultaneously
The 1000Mbps RJ45 Ethernet port offers full 10/100/1000Mbps superfast gigabit Ethernet performance. Much quicker than wireless. Again… pretty cool .
100W USB C Power Delivery USB C adapter charges your USB type C devices by connecting 100W power delivery port.
Blazing fast charging and data transfer. Cool again… .
2 x USB 3.0, support data transfer up to 5Gbps. Double the fun .
2 x USB 2.0, 480Mbps, for extra capacity. Double the fun,. again…
SD and TF slots easily access files from universal SD and Micro SD memory cards with data transfer speed up to UHS-I (104MB/s). Fast, and yup… cool
The hub has overheating and overcurrent protection, to keep the hub, and your laptop, safe and not on fire .
More than handy, and the way I personally prefer my laptops.
I think it is pretty old school.
To set it up, it really was as simple as plugging it in.
The OS picked it up, and had it up and running in under a minute.
In testing, I had every port plugged in.
Of course I did… Who wouldn’t right?
I did not believe that they would all operate successfully together.
But… much to my surprise…. they did.
My display was mirrored, and extended, no problem.
Every other port was utilized and tested, with successful data transfer, and power transfer, on every occasion.
It’s very impressive indeed.
And it never ran hot.
Which means we have to heat our coffee somewhere else….
Milk and sugar please… is it espresso? …. lovely….
The price is very good.
It’s keenly priced and offers good value.
It compares well to its competitors.
I would happily pay the asking price for this cool hub.
Overall…
It’s a cracking wee hub.
It’s well-designed, well constructed, and very well put together.
It performed flawlessly in testing, and made it look easy, and cool .
I do not hesitate to recommend it highly.
We have travelled the highway, completed the miles, and we find ourselves at the end of our journey together…
I hope you enjoyed our time together .
Thank you for reading my review .
This small docking station may be expensive, but it provides every I/O port you could want. It expands your MacBook Pro to have the same connections you’d expect from a desktop.
Works flawlessly, even with all ports as loaded as I could make them. Allows charging as well as suppling a lot of power to your devices too.
The hub itself is made from plastic however it looks and feels like aluminium, stunning built from quality materials, it feels like it’s part of the apple product family, but way cheaper than a similar gadget from Apple Store.
Didn’t require any setup whatsoever; worked right away, after I’ve plugged into my MacBook.
Featured with 5-inch cable with double Type C on the end. Due to this double type C plug this one is only compatible with MacBook laptops made from 2018. The hub I featured with two HDMI port, five 2.0 USB port, SD and microSD card slot, ethernet port, and a DP (DisplayPort). I had no speed transfer issues of since I’m using this and doesn’t even get warm even if I use to transfer a lot of data through this.
I’m really happy with this hub, saved me a lot of headaches of how to connect my regular USB gadgets to my new MacBook. Now I can connect my printer too, which has not featured with wireless connection, only USB. Well worth the money I paid for it. If you are looking for a well-designed, multipurpose, portable and highly portable hub for your MacBook, then this is the one you need!
You get enough ports including; 2 HDMI ports, a DP port, 3 USB ports, a SD slot, an ethernet display, 3.5mm Audio & Mic port, an ethernet port, and micro SD port.
This docking station is dark aluminium grey, lightweight, but it looks durable. I can take my laptop from work and set up at home in one easy step. I can now have another monitor display, charge my phone, and link up to my printer. Plus I have extra slots if I want to scale up with more monitors.
A good value docking station at about 58, that is much cheaper than a powered hub. Although if you do not need 12 ports (and only one extra display) then you can go down to 7 then you will pay only 25.
I bought this to use on my 2020 MacBook air.I use it to update my external hard drive and my Garmin Nuvi gps. Also like the feature to read SD and Micro mini SD cards which i haven’t used yet.It fits perfectly on my computer and is well built.A great buy considering Apple wanted $25 for an adapter with only one port.
It has a range of ports, and for me, the most important ones are the Ethernet, SD/Micro SD and USB-C ports. It does have multiple HDMI ports which will allow you to output to numerous displays at 4k resolution at 60Hz. It’s also has 100w PD pass-through! Overall, I’m very happy to recommend this USB-C hub.
Thank you for reading.
1. What device do you use the hub for?? Macbook Pro
2. Did the adapter compatible/work with your device? Yes
3. what do you think? Pleased with this purchase.
Trs satisfaite du produit. Je l’utilise pour mon Mac Book Air.
Works great! The only thing I did not like was that I have to take off the bottom of my laptop case every time I use it.
I have it connected to a 2019 MacBook Pro. It currently connects to the power supply, an external monitor (HDMI), and a keyboard and back-up drive (both USB). No issues so far. Very easy to use, just plug and play.
I guess 3rd time’s a charm, finally found something that works with my Macbook Air 2019. Great adapter and it’s just 1/3 of the original USB-C to Adapter + lots more features!
Pros:
It literally gives me everything I need to do work with my Macbook Air
USB adaptor for my keyboard and mouse? Check!
HDMI port for my larger monitor? Check!
USB C for charging port? Check!
SD card slot and micro SD card if I ever I need it for work? I guess so – Check!
Cons: it has the SLIGHTEST (only slightest) wiggle when installed, but not like it’s falling off or anything
Overall: Highly recommend it – If you are working from home with a Macbook Air and are considering getting a USB mouse/keyboard, and something to connect your monitor to so you don’t go blind from looking at a small screen all day, then look no further – “This is the adaptor you are looking for” -Obiwan Kenobi, probably
Beware, if you have a hard shell on your macbook, this will not fit, I had to modify my shell to remove some of the bodywork for it to fit.
It’s a great piece of kit that seems very well put together.
Arrived quickly, works beautifully, ports for sd card and thumb drive biggest asset for me
Very pleased with this purchase. The multitude of ports, stylish design and metal covering make this item appear like it was designed and made by Apple themselves. No issues with interoperability discovered (as yet,)so it looks like this item does what it says it will.
Bought as a hub for my new MacBook Pro, worked straight out of the box and it’s a stylish, well made piece of kit and has more than enough connections for everyday use
Works brilliantly and I’ve had no problems yet. Looks great as well when attached.
I don’t like the fact that I can’t leave my MacBook case on when using this device. I also got unbelievably hot. Not a good match for the MacBook Air. Had to buy a different one.
It works well but noticed usb memory devices get extremely hot and longer term this would damage the devices. A shame as functionality its grea
1. What device do you use the adapter for?
I use this for all my USB cables and HDMI screen
2. Did the adapter compatible/work well with your device?
It works really well! The only issue is it sits flush to the macbook so any case on the macbook has to be removed
3. How do you like it, and how many stars can it get?
I gave it 4 stars due to the issue with the case.
This USBC adapter is so easy to use with my new MacBook Air. My laptop only has two ports and does not accommodate the usual USB format. This device plugs right in the two ports and provides me with all the functions I need.
No issues with the physical dimensions either – everything clears the hinges and it’s not obtrusive
Be Dongle Free! Has all the ports you need, USB-C, USB-C (charging or display), Ethernet, HDMI, microSD and SD (both work at the same time!) and two USB ports (one USB 3.0 the other plain-vanilla USB 2.0) – an 8-in-one!
…and what’s great, is that you can also use it to expand the storage – useful for those who bought the base-model 256GB!
Why pay Apple tax? Sure, the built in storage is heaps-faster (3000 MB per second vs. 140 MB per second) but for Virtual Machines (i.e. Parallels – Windows 10 ARM), pictures, music, ROM files, seldom used apps (use Alias to move apps to secondary storage), Time Machine backup, etc. it’s fine to store them on MicroSD. I use this in conjunction with a NAS and I haven’t had any qualms. Unlike the built-in storage, if my Mac stops working for whatever reason – I still have the data on my microSD card all safe and sound!
You can either use the built-in MicroSD slot (or for extra peace of mind, the 15 low profile MicroSD adapter -so it doesn’t stick out – like this one – https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015130F78/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which keeps the SD card plugged in firmly and protects it) to expand the storage. I recommend at least a 400GB microSD card. The dock has a limitation on TFT speeds above 140MB p/sec so don’t go crazy getting a super-duper fast microSD card. But even if you get a speedy card, it’ll work – just not at the microSD cards speeds. There is no limit to the size of the MicroSD card btw. The dock will handle all sizes up to 2TB (which is theoretical as it doesn’t yet exist!)
Resting the Mac/Dock combo on a solid surface, despite the deeper bottom thickness depth (photo 4) it sits flat with the Macbook on a desk primarily due to the feet on the Macbook Air (photo 3).
Negatives? Well, only one – I wish it could’ve come with a way (double-stick velcro?) to keep it’s bottom-most part secure whilst inserting/removing devices/cables from the port. So removal of devices is a two-handed affair.
I had some USB docks before (you know, the three-in-one – HDMI/USB-A/USB-C-for-charging) that was very unreliable. This works exactly as advertised. VERY RELIABLE. no dropped connections, etc. – no dead ports, etc.
Right after I bought it (as luck would have it) they dropped the price. Now it’s like 28!
Buy it with confidence.
The USB ports are also handy as the majority of my other current accessories are not USB-C.
Have not tried out the SD card slots yet but I assume they work fine. Very happy with this purchase.
Could be a little thinner and a little snugger in my opinion but as I am using it mainly plugged in these days at a desktop I’m not super concerned about it.
Purchased this for a M1 mac book so was unsure if the connections would be the same as previous generation MBP. The Design & Colour were a perfect match, which is an added bonus. The HDMI connection being at the top does not leave an expance of cable trailing from the side of the machine and sets for simpler orientation of the computer. All appears to be working excellently.
I originally purchased this for travel but this works better as a desktop/stationary device.
Pros: Compact
Slim
Provides 2 usb 3.0 ports for fasters transfers
comes with a guide to explain the features (something missing in most adapter purchases)
Cons: needs a power source to work
Does not work if you have a case on your macbook pro 2020
A small LED indicator comes on when plugged in which allows you to see quickly if the device is properly plugged into the USB-C ports or not.
So far no cons with this device, recommended!
1. It usually sat pretty awkward on my desk and kind of flopped around when I needed to move my laptop.
2. It got quite hot to the touch even when just connected to the USB mic itself. It never affected the operation or use of the adapter, but was just something to note.
Since switching to this hub it has completely solved both of these minor annoyances and then some.
1. I love the way it sits flush on the side of both the laptops (even the much thinner Air). It has just enough rigidity that it feels solid, but just enough wiggle room to be shifted and moved around a bit without causing damage to your ports.
2. It operates much cooler. It gets SLIGHTLY warm to the touch when having 3-4 inputs running through the adapter.
3. The light showing it’s plugged in and operational is a nice touch.
If you work with one of the newer 2-4 USB C input Macbooks, this is the Hub you need to get.
