So impressed with this parasol for our patio table that we ordered another one for our additional seating area.
Bought this umbrella as I already had a separate umbrella base that I could use. It’s very solid even when it’s a bit windy. Very happy with it!
Cheapest of the lot, well made, does need a heavy stand, beware of using TILT in gusty winds,
it becomes a sail and needs extra weight to keep it upright, but overall good buy.
Really surprised at the quality of this item for the price. Fabric part can be replaced down the line if required. Nice grey finish to the pole. Cranking and tilt mechanisms work smoothly. Pleased with this purchase. Was considering buying another but the item was 10 more expensive so will wait for an offer. Be aware the pole diameter is 38mm when purchasing a parasol base: many bases will not accommodate this size.
I really can’t fault this for the money. I paid 29.99 and was here in 4 days.
All the parasols we have bought in the past have been flimsy aluminium polls which have broken over time. This is made of steel and the pole that goes into the base is 35mm in diameter.
The parasol itself is easy to put up with the raising mechanism and the tilt feature is very substantial. At 2.7 meters it covers the table really well.
I have a homemade concrete base and that seems to hold it firm. I would say however you might need a more substantial base than normal.
Easy to put up and the tilt is perfect for when the sun gets lower in the sky
Easy assembly, sturdy and great value for money.
Quality is superb.
light weight ideal to be placed anywhere in the garden or outside area
Sturdiness left it up over weekend when we were away during bad weather thought it may have got damaged but was pleasantly surprised that no damage occurred
This umbrella nice study good winder easy to use, quick efficient delivery
Good and sturdy, would of been nice to have a cover for it.but much better quality than any I looked at in b&q .
Was expecting more of a stone/biscuit colour but it’s very creamy! Good brolly though.
will keep you posted when used for a while.
but pleased at the mome
Easy value for money cream colour worth it would recommend to anybody considering in ordering this item thank you
I can’t give 5 stars yet but if it performs and lasts well then I may in 12 _24 months time , good strong piece and looking good on my patio.
It alright for the money but the finish could be bet a lot of the stitching was left with threads hanging
Bought this to replace our old parasol. Must admit it is exellent. Easy to construct, no issues
Easy to assemble, 2 parts, just slots in. Quite lightweight too. Sturdy and attractive – I got grey. Shame it doesn’t come with a cover though
Excellent,quick delivery.Good quality item,with metal powder-coated poles.Easy to assemble,and at a very good price((39.99).Very pleased with it.
Very pleased with it.
No need to write a book about it. It is exactly how it is described.
Easy to put up not easy to put down especially when on the tilt all on all nice looking g umbrella does the job mine was damaged couldn’t be bothered to take photos for refund it foes the job just one oc the spokes was damaged we just taped it not notice
Compared to shop prices saved alot of money on my garden umbrella
Very happy with this parasol. Arrived early, before predicted delivery date.
The colour is amazing. It is so easy to put up just a turn of the handle and the size is great . It ticks everyone of my boxes.
Great value, nice size, simple to assemble. Only time will tell how sturdy it is but it seems pretty sturdy to me.
A lovely big parasol – 2.7m. Burnt orange is the colour we bought. Sturdy and well made. A bargain at that price
Seems well built and good value. Always a good idea with these things to take them down and store out of the wind and rain when not in use, or the cord rots and the metal and fabric rust / fade.
Great value for money. You will need a sturdy base. Tilt feature which for the price is fab value. Colour true to adve
very well made , good thick fabric. easy open with clockwise turning handle +already assembled.. best one I’ve bought…
Beautiful bright colour, easy to open and shut.
Looked very nice when up in the summer.
sadly, I left it up and a freak storm developed in my absence, blowing this and the sturdy table over and I came home to discover one of the the steel struts has snapped! I dont see how I can repair this so am going to order a new one
Using at a patio of town house which is 4.5m wide, definitely recommend this size. I bought a 2m first which I sold on Messenger immediateley, go for the 2.7 one and enjoy the shadow
My neighbour has recently asked me about this parasol and I went looking through my past order and I finally decided to leave a review. It’s been 2 years and in the warmer summer months it get’s constant use.
It’s sturdy and provides great shade. The price has however doubled since when I bought it ( bought it for round 24 which I now realised was an amazing deal.. but would I pay 2xnow .. hm not 100% sure. would have to see what else is available that’s for sure
I am so pleased with this parasol. I had to buy a stand for it to go into but once it was placed in the stand It is very sturdy, even with the winds that we get in the area that I live. Further, I have left the parasol out ever since I bought it and we have been experiencing quite heavy rain at times and this has not affected the parasol whatsoever. Would recommend
Good quality, its light, but the only problem might be how it will stand up to a medium/strong wind. Think I’ll be inclined to be careful and take it down..
Happy with the purchase. Looks fantastic and it is very easy to assemble and operate. If buying a base, it needs one heavier than 9kg. It is sturdy enough, though if very windy weather we take it down as we feel it might break.
The parasol arrived and was as expected, except, the colour. I ordered Ivory / Cream. Its a strong cream colour no where near Ivory. I have kept it in the hope it will fade to match my others with the long hot summer we are (hopefully) going to have.
Overall good product just be careful of colour descriptions.
if you compare the price of this parasol with others on the site, you might think you’d need to go for the more expensive ones to get a decent garden parasol. You would be wrong. The VonHaus parasol is well-made and superb value for money. I’m not quite sure how they make such a good product for the price. Definitely recommended.
Good sized parasol, looks nice, easy to assemble. I bought a 9kg base but I’d suggest getting something a bit heavier. Had a slight breeze and it was a bit wobbly.
Very well made, a bit heavy for me, to put in the Stand, so I got help. I haven’t tried out the Tilt feature yet. Hopefully I shall be able to manage that, if needed.
Great parasol! It is quite large and I ignored the other reviews about needing a bigger base which I am now having to buy!
I bought this for my garden. Pleased with the item and it’s ease of use.
I purchased this to replace my old broken parasol – this one is larger but the pole fits nicely into the hole in the garden table and having the winder makes it much easier to raise and lower now that my hands are arthritic. The section which angles the parasol is quite high up the pole so not the easiest to reach unless you are tall – I have only used that feature once as the breeze in my garden makes the parasol spin round when it is at an angle!! I guess that having a different base where the pole can be better secured may prevent this but as I rarely need to angle it I haven’t bothered. I love the orange colour but it has already faded in the sun which is a little disappointing – other than that this is a very sturdy, large parasol that will hopefully last many years.
Not bad, but make sure you buy for it a very heavy weight holder as I bought nit wide, round 12kg and with every little wind it was blowing away on side down.
We have a 30sq metre terrace so we bought a 2.7 metre cantilever parasol.
It’s footprint was so large it devoured a quarter of the terrace so we had to return it.
We found this and it’s perfect, simple to set up, well made, plus it looks good.
That’s it.
Good parasol for the money. Next time I’ll get one with the wind vent half way down rather than at the top to help avoid blow overs.
All ok, does the job, nothing to get overly excited about, but happy for it to be in the patio.
Ordered as a replacement for my previous patio umbrella. Wanted a similar size and design. Very happy with purchase
A quality product which is easy to assemble. The base can be left in place and the parasol inserted or removed easily by use of the push button lock. The winding mechanism is easy to use but feels sturdy. Beware the size of the tube which is larger than some. I had to modify the plastic mount in my existing table which was made for a smaller pole.
Replacement for a Zettler. Not compatible with Zettler base: too wide. Much less expensive but easy to use. Parasol winds open and closed. Tilts to one position. Definitely needs the base and a table with a central hole to be stable. The base is an essential extra. One base was fractured on delivery but swiftly replaced.
Very sturdy, easy to work and assemble. This was a replacement item for a cheaper one that I bought in April, and the difference in quality is very noticeable. The cheaper one lasted 3 weeks before the handle snapped! It was definitely worth paying the extra,I am delighted! Highly recommend.
The product it lovely, big and well made. However the sticking point is that no matter what base we seem to use when it is tilted, if there is the slightest (and I mean slightest) breeze then it falls over. We have a 25kg base and it still fell. So we can’t use the tilt function which kind of defeats the object. If anyone has any advice on what base to use that would be great. I would have loved to give this item 5 stars.
This was quite easy to assemble. But unfortunatley it was too big for my patio. So put it up for sale. I lost money but hope it suited the buyer more.
This looks lovely and is so easy to put up. I’m glad I got a parasol with a crank. I do feel that it sways slightly in the wind, but probably just needs a slight adjustment. The tilt mechanism is also very simple – though I’m too short (5′ tall) to reach it -and it does the job very well. I’m very pleased with my purchase. It arrived several days before expected which was a bonus.
It’s delivered on time and great product. Handle is a bit stiff otherwise a great product.
Very sturdy, good quality umbrella. Easy to assemble and set up. Crank mechanism is working well, but confusing at times which direction to turn it to. However it is not a problem. Tilting option is also good. You can tilt it only one direction – so you will need to turn the base with umbrella as sun travels. My garden is south-facing so in order to tilt it north-east and north-west against the sun I had to turn the base. No problem though if you need to tilt it opposite directions of South-North or East-West.
Umbrella itself looks beautiful in the garden. Following advise from the earlier reviews I purchased a 20kg stand for it and it holds umbrella very well. Today was a very windy day and I had no problem with umbrella at all. It stayed firmly in its place.
Very happy with it, especially for what I’ve got for the price.
There was a dent on the pole and a light fault in the fabric. Contacted the seller but no reply. Apart from that it seems like a good buy.
When you have it on tilt you need a very heavy base as it will fall over.
You do not have the base for this item .is their another base that fits as the one l ordered does
It is a big parasol, happy with the purchase. Could do with some holes at the bottom so the weight is better secure. A 9kg weight won’t hold this Umbrella!. I had to put some winds and much more weights.
The parasol arrived in good time. Unfortunately it arrived when the rain decided to make an appearance so cannot say anything about it other than it looks very good, love the orange colour. Will update when we can use it, which hopefully will be very soon.
This is in a lovely cream colour and the crank makes it easy to put the parasol up or down. The metal spokes make it much more durable than wood. The parasol is extra tall so that it is never in the way, and it tilts so you can angle it for the sun. It’s easy to dismantle if you want to take it down at night and cover the table.
So far so good. Only minor gripe is the colour seems a bit washed out. Mechanism works well and generally looks quite sturdy
Arrived a week early than expected. Easy to use and sturdy. The top vent is suppose to prevent a gust of wind from lifting it off the parasol but I have found my parasol out of the base once so far, so don’t read too much into its ability to withstand wind gusts.
It covers quite a large area and looks good too, I also like the crank handle for opening the parasol. I would say take care around the stated pole diameter since it is less than stated so be sure to get the correct base for it (its more like 37MM not 40MM).
The main pole comes in two halves and seems quite strong, the coupling which joins them isn’t too tight on mine so there is a small amount of movement which means it feels slightly wobbly, but I don’t think it matters or effects the overall strength.
Updated that the order was going to arrive later than expected but it was only 1 day over the expected delivery window so thankfully wasn’t kept waiting too long. Looks nice and seems a sturdy, good value replacement parasol for my broken one. Now I just need the sun to come back!
Excellent value for money. Looks good and easy to use. It has a tilt feature and a winding mechanism.
This is a good quality parasol with a winch handle to open/close it and a tilting top. However, the tilting top is not as sturdy as it could be. Also, once tilted, it has a habit of blowing around in the wind like a sail unless your base has a really good securing bolt. Overall, recommended.
It works exactly as I had hoped. It is nice and wide and so covers a good area, and the ability to tilt it is great. It can be a bit difficult to tilt at times, but this shows that it’s well made and strong so I’m happy with the effort required (which really isn’t much and is probably more to do with my shortness than the item!).
My 7 year old likes resting it on the grass and using it as a hiding place/tent. So dual purposed 😀
I purchased this VonHaus Parasol for my back garden as my old one was well worn. I purchased this from Amazon from DOMU UK, they are a GREAT COMPANY TO DEAL WITH, I had a slight problem on my first delivery date, but after contacting the company, they pulled out all the stops and my delivery was sent next day. This is a well made parasol and very sturdy, and easy to open and close. I would Highly Recommend this Company, if you are thinking of getting a new garden parasol. In this day and age it is nice to know that they are dealers that you can trust to deliver on time.
I love this parasol. It is very sturdy, easy to put together and to operate. The crank handle is great. No more pinched fingers and you can adjust how far you open it. It also has a good tilt angle. You do need a heavy base. The standard filled plastic bases do not support its weight. My only quibble is that you cannot adjust the actual height. It has a standard push pin ( Hope that is the correct term) into a hole. I would prefer the parasol to be just a little lower. I am planning to get another hole drilled into it to achieve this. I would have rated it 5 stars if not for the fixed height. Apart from that it is a great parasol, one that I would highly recommend.
Seems well enough constructed my only concern is how long it might last the fabric of the parasol is quite thin in comparison to those I have had previously. No complaints so far though.
This was at least 15 cheaper than the previous one I bought. I nearly bought dearer again to satisfy my urge that ‘dearer
must be better, right?’
A month after buying It’s as least as good as my previous 39.99 one.
I’ve had a few Von Haus products and all have been really good value.
The mechanism for winding looks decently strong. Had to chuck my old one out after the internal cord became frayed and all intertwined. I expect to get at least 2 years from this.
Would really appreciate a Helpful Vote if this review is appreciated. Thanks
Nice size 2.7 I wish it wasn’t quite so tall and when you drop the tilt it doesn’t drop on a long side but at an angle which I find off putting but overall for the money it was good and excellent delivery arrived earlier than expected.
Bought to replace a wooden parasol that was 3-4 years old and the canopy was past it. Deliberately bought this because it has a handle to wind the parasol up instead of pulling on ropes as you do with the wooden ones. Much, much better. Metal construction, time will tell on how well it lasts. From memory about half the price of the parasol it replaced (although slightly smaller).
Beautiful parasol. Love the colour. Did have a small issue however this was sorted quickly with the seller. Ensure that you get a heavy parasol base.
This VonHaus Parasol represents good quality and value for money. The opening/tilt mechanism feels as though it will last and the fabric feels good too although, being cream it is prone to getting a bit dirty. To ensure optimum stability because this is a largish/heavy umbrella a substantial base is a must.
I am really happy with this. I rent in a houseshare and was looking into value for money options. Of course you need to secure it placing it in the middle of a garden table otherwise will blow away, of course the fabric is nylon, not nice cotton, of course it is made a bit cheaply. But for less than 25 it looks great, the shade is amazing, the handle works as well as the tilting. So good.
And finally I get to use the parasol, after purchasing it several weeks ago and after several weeks of rain the parasol is now in use, it is a great addition to my garden furniture, and the grey colour matches exactly, it is very sturdy and due to its size it gives great shade when needed, I would highly recommend this parasol and so easy to use due to the crank handle and the tilt adds works grea
It’s a sturdy big parasol, with a good wind up/down mechanism. My only complaint is that there were no instructions in my box so I haven’t yet worked out the tilting mechanism….but I will surely work it out! Great value for money and splits easily for storage.
I have been looking for a new parasol for a while. Not that the summer has been that great so far (I am writing this in late June 2019). My last parasol lasted 11 years before finally disintegrating last winter when I forgot to bring in inside. It is not often you actually need one of these in the UK climate, especially in the North of England where I live but where you do then they come in very useful indeed. And a good parasol looks great too and can add an extra dimension of style and sophistication to any garden, even when not erected.
I thought that this was a bit “too good to be true” when I saw it. A full sized garden parasol for just over 20? Really? OK so you have to pay a fiver for delivery which is a bit of a chew but if it was 25 including free delivery I wouldn’t have battered an eye other than think it was still too cheap and could not possibly be good quality. I had a look in a couple of those garden centre type places and didn’t see one for less than 40 and that was smaller than this and didn’t look great.
This arrived quickly the next day and was easy to assemble, just a matter of putting one bit into another. There is a natty handle mechanism to wind up the umbrella bit that works well and is easy enough to work out, even for me.
It is branded as “VonHaus” whcih is a name I have not come across before. A bit of searching and it seems that the brand is owned by a company called DOMU UK which is a privately owned company based in Manchester. DOMU is, apparently, one of the fastest growing companies in the North West at the moment and, on the basis of the quality / price / service regarding this parosol, I can understand why.
This arrived before the expected date,so all good so far. It went together easily. On first trying to wind it up it got stuck near the top. However spotted the problem, it was catching on something, so he made some adjustment and after that it was fine. I look forward to some decent weather so that we can use it.
I obviously can’t comment on how long it will last. With the high winds we get these days it could get blown over even in its cast iron base.
Easy to set up. Looks good.
No way of locking it closed so if any wind comes, even with a 12kg Base, it will go over (even through a table).
I have used a piece of material I had to tie it closed when not in use.
Being able to sit in the garden and enjoy the weather no matter how sunny it gets, both the wife and i like to read while enjoying the weather, the cover provided by the Parasol is perfect for us, it is sturdy, but it does require a fairly hefty/solid base as a result, totally worth every penny!
Arrived earlier than stated which was a bonus, unfortunately the weather changed so we haven’t been able to use it properly yet. We did manage to open it up to check everything was ok, which it was. I love
the colour and the easy wind up mechanism to open it up. Looking forward to being off work with (fingers crossed) some lovely weather and get to sit in my garden under my parasol. Would recommend.
Waiting for my son to sort new base out so i can use my new parasol, love the colour, it will be better than my 2 little ones ive had for years ,so I’ve treated myself ,delivery was very good and driver very helpful.
I found the Parasol easy to assemble and quite well made. At the moment it hasn’t experienced much wind – and I’m not sure of the durability of the parasol shade just yet. But for the price it does appear to be good value…
Really pleased with this umbrella, very easy to use having the crank handle, love that the pole is grey too! Quick delivery, well packaged & although not had much use as yet, I’m confident it will be fab. Very happy
Love it! Lovely peach colour rather than orange. Feels good quality esp with wind up mechanism. It rained and the water just sat in droplets so I would say it’s waterproof… definitely buy this – you won’t be disappointed
Ok fab umbrella if your a very tall person assist in parasol base, however getting cover on is a mission and getting it off I need steps, brilliant umbrella thou, I did hacksaw off 15 inches on bottom pole and now perfec
Good, sturdy parasol which winds up and down easily with the crank. The tilt function is useful though I’d rather naively – I now realise! – thought it would be possible to adjust it to several different angles whereas it’s just to one side or the other. It casts a good amount of shade and it certainly feels cooler underneath it. Has brought some welcome relief to plants that were getting frazzled in the heatwave!
Better than I expected for 45. This is very sturdy and expensive looking. I bought the orange colour and it is the exact same colour as pictured. I am very pleased with this umbrella.
This parasol is very well made and i am very please with the purchase. HOWEVER the base linked in the ‘Frequently Bought Together’ part is no where near heavy enough to keep it upright. The cost of returning the base exceeds the purchase price so go for a heavier one to start will. I’m being told to buy a 20kg one, but not sure it should not be heavier still. If anyone has any suggestions of the base weight to use, i would be grateful to receive them. I need this freestanding and not through a table.
So far, as good as I had hoped. Seems strongly made. Simple to operate with crank. Tilt mechanism simple also. Colour just right (orange parasols are hard to find) & looks great. No cover supplied, which is a bit of a pity, but easy to find one at a standard DIY shop. Although the size was given, the parasol looks bigger than I imagined – actually a good thing in our case. We bought a 9kg cast iron square base which looks like it’ll hold it fine
Really good quality product. Only dropped a star as instruction really hopeless (ok they don’t need to be explicated but really were all concerned with you injuring yourself operating the parasol), and the fact that when winding it up the parasol sticks at the hinged bracket. Only need to touch it and it passes ok. Can’t really see why this is happening as seems a smooth transition. Anyway would recommend this as does seem a good product and looks great. Also, on someone’s recommendation in the reviews, when for a heavier base than recommended by the manufacturer.
Lovely, solid umbrella. A handle assists in raising and lowering the umbrella and the option to tilt is particularly useful as it stands quite high. Unfortunately we picked too light a base top hold it (9kg) so would definitely recommend a must sturdier base to compliment it.
The parasol is very nice and exactly as stated and delivered quickly. It will look beautiful on my patio.
However just a note for the less-wise internet purchaser…..if you intend to use this 2.7m parasol free-standing and not through a table you will need a parasol base heavier than the 12kg stand recommended to be brought with this on Amazon. A slight breeze and within 30 seconds of putting this up (the leaves on the hedge barely moved, not even sure if it registered on the Beaufort scale – is there a word to describe something less that a slight breeze?) and in slow motion we watched ours start falling, some shouting of OMG it’s falling over, managed to catch it (phew) and just ordered a heavier base….so parasol is perfect the only thing wrong was my knowledge of parasol physics vs wind at time of purchase.
Excellent quality for an amazing price. It is often windy in our garden on the coast and the parasol does tend to catch the wind when the very useful tilt function is engaged, but in its normal untilted position it fares well even in fairly windy conditions – we have the parasol sited above a garden table with the pole inserted in a 12 kg weighted base. We are in Scotland, so quite far North, and at the height above the table that the parasol is we do use the tilt mechanism a lot (when its not so windy!) to get most of the table shaded as the day progresses. The manufacturer’s instructions indicate it not be used in the rain (so its not designed as an umbrella as well as a parasol) and we’ve kept to this so far though it certainly looks like it would cope with a shower okay.
Arrived promptly and in good condition. We’ve only had a chance to use this once so far, but it is great. Not too heavy, but seems good quality, and the crank and tilt features work well to keep the glare of the sun at bay. We had a bit of trouble keeping the parasol at the right angle, as the breeze was turning it little by little; this isn’t the fault of the brolly, but rather of the base (from another manufacturer), which we’re going to have to figure out how to tighten around the pole of the parasol. We’ll also have to eventually get a cover/carrying case for it to protect the colour of the fabric–for now, we’re just using the box. Size-wise and price/quality range, this was just what we were looking for.
