The setup was surprisingly easy the package included clear instructions and all the necessary components for a seamless installation. This irrigation system has saved me time and effort, and my garden has never looked better.
Watering the garden, lawn, and plants can become an arduous affair. With this kit, that burden has been substantially lightened. The timer function does well for someone not always home to manage their garden’s thirst. The installation process didn’t take more than a quarter of an hour, and that too without requiring a phone-a-friend lifeline for plumbing advice. But, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows—adjusting the water distribution was a bit finicky, to be honest. While the promise of saving up to 70% of water is alluring, I did notice a few areas of my garden still seemed parched, so there’s room for improvement.
I’ve never used a drip irrigation system before and thought it might be complicated to set up. I was wrong. There are instructions and all the droppers and pies fit together easily. It just took a little planning to decide what was going to benefit and I eventually decided on the vegetable area. I’m pleased I did because with this in place and programmed properly, it saved me having to do any can or hosepipe watering through a dry spell. The plants also seemed to enjoy the constant supply and marrows, in particular, have really thrived. Looks built to last and it’s very effective.
This takes a while to assemble and to arrange as desired, but it does work well.
The length of hose is impressive and the basic timer works well.
With a large, new garden this proved invaluable during a long spell without rain and will be very useful when away from the house for a few days.
44.99 (at the time of review) is a very good price for the quantity and quality of equipment.
Just what you need for the greenhouse or patio for when you are on holiday or can’t get out to water. The time function is good. My only downside is that it’s a little bit flimsy.
This kit provides all that is needed to irrigate plants automatically which is great if you have a busy life where sometimes you just can’t remember if you’ve watered the plants in the greenhouse or not.
Ever since setting up our greenhouse some years ago we have used watering cans and hosepipes to water the plants which my partner likes to grow in there. Sometimes, when working different shifts from each other, we have lost track of whether either of us has watered the plants on a particular day which, particularly in the recent heat waves we’ve been getting, has occasionally had disastrous results for plants like her tomatoes.
This irrigation kit is something that we’ve been considering for some time now and, hopefully is the answer to our problem. Because you are supplied with a universal and a threaded tap fitment we are able to connect the pipe/tube to either the outdoor tap or the standard basin tap in the outhouse. There’s more than enough pipe for our needs and plenty of fittings for customising the drip feed to the plants, all of which is controlled by the water timer.
Mostly this will be used when we are not at home because my partner enjoys going round talking to the plants whilst watering them 🙂 but there will be times as mentioned before when our differing work patterns could necessitate the use of the system. The thing is it is easy to connect or disconnect the whole system quite quickly and come the colder weather it will definitely be drained thoroughly and put away.
It takes a bit of time to build this system up but the end result makes it worthwhile and the cost is really quite reasonable.
This is a decent drip irrigation system which also includes a timer included in the price of 44.99 (currently on a 10% discount) which is very good value.
The system includes plenty of pipe (60m), dripper heads and connectors to cater for a small garden, a set of pots or a greenhouse, and it’s very easy to assemble with standard push fittings.
The timer comes with clear instructions and is pretty intuitive to program, with several options including number of times per day and duration of the watering.
A system like this takes the stress out of watering and also can save water as people tend to over-water when doing it with a hose pipe or watering can. It certainly saves the back!
Overall, this is a good system and I recommend it!
A nice good set for your garden when you are too busy to water. There is cheaper versions of this set However most don’t include the timer which is needed. Setup is easy but would recommend putting the tubing in warm water to aid fixing to the fixtures and stop leaks in the future.
This works as well as my old almost-double-the-price one did, and it is actually a bit more compact and lighter.
I’ll update my review if I ever experience any issues.
This is Easy to set up and fantastic at watering, The fine mist it produces dose not disturb the soil or wash it away giving the plants a good soaking with minimal water. I would recommend installing just one line of jets in the middle apex as this filled the whole greenhouse with a fine mist that soaks everything.
Highly recommended product.
This set has all you need to set up an automated irrigation system for your outdoor plants, as long as you have a suitable outdoor tap to connect it to.
In total there are 70 drippers and 60 metres of tubing, which should be sufficient for most people’s gardens. It also comes with a selection of adapters to connect it to your outdoor tap or hose. I found multiple adapters in mine, because it ships with adapters in the box, and the timer itself had additional adapters inside its own little box.
The timer seems basic but functional. The battery tray is a bit wobbly, and you have to be careful of the cable it attaches to. I would recommend using good quality batteries with this, because you don’t want them leaking inside the unit, and the unit is likely to suffer wide swings in temperature and humidity throughout the year or season.
It takes two AAA cells, and the instructions say this should last for 1,500 valve open/close cycles. This seems quite impressive to me. The last watering timer I bought took the much more expensive C-cells, so this unit taking super-cheap AAAs is a plus in my book.
I was a bit confused initially how the various parts inside the timer box went together. The instruction leaflet does not explain this, but I figured it out and took a photo (see attached). The strange “little red ring” is actually a small covered reel of PTFE tape in a red case. You can use this to wrap your tap thread if you get a leak there.
The response on the LCD screen of the timer unit has a slight lag to it, which makes inputting the watering schedule a little slow, but you only do this occasionally so it is not a major problem. There just seems to be a 1–2s lag after you click the Set button before you see the result.
One thing I have discovered, however, is that my outside tap appears to have a non-standard thread on it, so I’m struggling to get the timer attached without leaks. The tap is very old, and I’ve tried various adapters. To be honest, I think I just need to replace the outside tap with a modern one. So just be sure you don’t have some unusual thread or fitting on your outside tap. If your tap is a standard one then the connector, or the connector with one of the additional adapters, should fit fine.
Fitting the drippers and tee-pieces is a very simple operation and can be completed easily on a nice warm day (so the tubing is soft). The only thing that makes it a long job is the sheer number of drippers you may have to attach. But once all set up this seems to work nicely, and given it comes with the timer unit and all of the connectors, the price right now seems very reasonable.
Despite the slight lag in the display I’m giving this five stars because the price seems so good for all this kit.
You can buy cheaper but you will find others do not include a timer. This would normally have to be paid for seperately. A timer is essential for this type of watering which is used while you are away. Works well. Note the tip of ‘put the head of tube into hot water for 10-15 seconds before assembling, helps soften the tube, allow connecting more solidly and avoid leaking or blow off’.
We use irrigation as a back-up to watering using a hose pipe and watering cans. If you grow largely ornamentals, an irrigation system can be a perfect, time saving means of getting water regularly into pots and planted containers. It may well work for veg growers too – but we’ve no experience of that.
This decently sized drip irrigation system seems well made and is very versatile. It includes an automatic water timer can be set to suit your own garden’s requirements. It comes with full instructions. Once you get the hang of this type of system, you’ll likely come to view it as an essential. It certainly saves a ot of work.
We dismantle such systems around the end of September and store them until the following spring in order not to expose them to frost. Water saving, this is a great way to care for outdoor plants when you’re away – without resorting to the kindness of neighbours.
This system is a time saver and water saver in one, performed as expected for the price range, my plants and vegetables have the right amount of water they need to keep hydrated, defo takes less effort instead of dragging the hose around.
