I got this security camera after we had a fox break into our chicken coop and take our favorite rooster. This camera has definitely given us peace of mind. We have it installed facing the coop so I can monitor for predators. So far we have been alerted to the presence of foxes, raccoons, a Bear and a few curious deer!
It was very easy to install and set up and I am impressed with the image quality. I would highly recommend it!
Super easy to install and use in app. I literally just put it up so not full day experience yet but I am already impressed at how easy it was to install and set up — especially for a non-techy like me!
I got this camera to replace an existing wifi camera on the side of my house that had failed. I choose this one because of the solar recharging ability since it is extremely difficult for me to run power to the location where this is being installed.
I found the installation of this camera to be easy and setup was flawless with the app. Others have complained about the app not working, but I didn’t encounter that issue. I used the iOS app on an iPad and didn’t encounter any issues with setup or use of the camera.
I cannot comment on the range, as my wifi router is pretty close to where I have the camera mounted, so I had no problems there.
I wish the camera had come with a microSD card. I installed a 32GB card I had sitting around, but I’m going to order a SanDisk High Endurance 64GB card (I think 64GB is the biggest that is supported).
The big one: video quality. I found the video quality acceptable, for both day and night, but not truly exceptional. But based on a price to performance level, I was very happy with it. I should be able to use to identify criminals base on clothing, size, shape and appearance.
Battery life is something that I haven’t really had a chance to test much on this unit, and cold weather performance will be a good test, but so far, the solar panel has been able to charge this everyday and the camera is working well whenever I view it (which to be honest isn’t very often as it’s not a really high traffic area).
Overall, this is a good device and does what I need it to. I’m able to use it effectively on my network with the provided administration application, setup was uneventful. Time will tell how well it holds up though.
Very good camera and an easy to use app. My only negative is the fitting of the camera to the wall bracket isn’t very secure and can easily slide off. I have had to make a slight modification to the bracket to make it more secure.
This camera has all the amazing features you need on a security camera. I have the ability to look in every possible angle with my phone. I can talk to people who come to my house even when I’m not home. The best feature is the night security system I get complete colour playback and live even in pitch dark nights since the camera has lights that can be turned on manually or through motion detection allowing to see everything as if it was bright day time. The alarm system comes on as well in the night when motion is detected to ward off thieves and animals and can be turned up pretty loud. The added bonus is solar powered no need to run wiring the extra hassle is removed. Well worth it to get this amazing camera!! 2K PICTURE QUALITY IS AWESOME
I got this camera to keep tabs on the critters who have been attacking our garden. The picture quality is stellar – both during the day and night. The solar panel works well to power it, but because we have a shady-er backyard, I have it connected and it works great. It was a straightforward install – very happy overall.
The sensitivity for motion detection can be adjusted as can the pan and tilt function of the cameraall from the app on your phone. Also very easy to install as the camera is connected by wi-go so no cables! Very impressed.
I purchased the ANRAN 2K Solar Security Camera Outdoor Wireless with 360 View, WiFi CCTV Camera Outdoor to replace a hard wired camera and was initially concerned that the Solar Panel was not charging well enough but having contacted Vera at support who was extremely helpful and following an engineers check remotely I followed their instructions and the Solar Panel is now charging correctly. It is early days so not sure how well it will work on dark/winter days but overall I am very happy with the product and particularly with the picture quality and motion detection with also the ability to move the camera on the app its proving a value for money purchase
This is a good little camera for what you pay for, it is easy enough to set up, I drilled mine into the mortar between my bricks, and connecting it to your WiFi and phone is easy enough too (do that before putting it up in place).
The picture quality is good both day and night vision.
It has good motion detection, it can get a bit trigger happy at times if you have something like an umbrella in your garden blowing in the wind.
Also at night the lights come on when motion is triggered which is a great touch and good deterrent for people up to no good.
The app isn’t great and needs some improvement, the main struggles with it is video playback and capturing the clips. But in all happy with my purchase.
Also for reference I have bought an additional memory card for vidoe storage and paid for the cloud storage as well (yes it’s overkill but I want that level of security for my needs).
This is and excellent security camera that is totally wireless so you can mount it pretty much anywhere. Since it is a security camera you can’t expect perfection with the video quality, but it is pretty close at 2k. Yes, it could be 4k, but I really have no issue with the quality at all and the night vision is also excellent.
Like other cameras I own this uses an app for tracking alerts/live viewing/panning and has a slot for a micro SD card. There is also an added sensitivity slider in the app, so you can dial in the perfect setting for your particular needs. I also find the solar panel works very well to keep the camera topped up after the initial charge.
On a final note, I found the setup and hardware installation to be very easy and I did not run in to any issues. It was as simple as downloading the app, taking a pic of the QR code and popping in a sim card. You couldn’t ask for an easier set up.
Overall, this is a full featured camera with a package that has everything you could want at a competitive price (especially with the coupon). If you are in the market for a truly wireless security camera at a good price, definitely give this one a look.
Recommended!
Good luck with your decision/purchase.
My whole security camera setup is Anran, I have the plug in models and a few of these solar ones for remote locations like the shed or up the tree to keep an eye on the face of the house. They all work fantastic and this newest 2k version is no exception.
it has great quality of video, really next level but depending on distance to your router you may need a booster to get maximum wifi coverage for your intended mounting location. It operates on the 2.4 ghz band which goes alot further than 5.8 ghz distance wise.
The app works as one would hope, cloudedge is the one. Offers full ptz as well as continuous streaming but does use up the battery faster than the solar panel can charge… so best to just leave alerts/motion detection enabled instead.
Overall its a great quality camera, with great visuals, a good wifi distance, NO CORDS and a well designed app! Ive been thrilled with its performance and you will too!
This CCTV camera is easy to install and use, and both picture quality and feature set are excellent. Can’t vouch for longevity yet, but it seems well built.
Works really well, easy to configure and good quality product.
-Easy to install
-Control over iPhone is amazing
-Free app, free storage. Zero hidden fees
-Camera view is excellent
-360 view is smooth
-Lightweight, will never fall off once bolted into place
-Motion detection seems very accurate, with maybe a second or two delay
-Night vision works great, but sometimes stays on even when still bright outside.
This wireless full colour camera has very good day time video/picture and night vision video/picture. Having colour night vision is really nice feature to have. It’s 2K so it’s sharper than 1080p, not sure what MP it is but I would guess between 3 and 4. CloudEdge App was easy to set up and work with. App has lots of features. The 360 degrees pan and Tilt makes it easier to scan the area and have the camera set exactly where you want. This makes installations very easy, as it doesn’t have to be in the perfect spot. The solar panel is easy to install and set up. The camera is well made and will handle the outside weather. Overall happy with this pan and tilt solar full colour camera.
– This camera uses the Cloud Edge app to run the camera. There are lots of wireless security systems that use this app and so you could purchase other units to run on the same app as well. I have 3 other cameras and also a wireless video doorbell that uses the same Cloud Edge app and it’s very convenient. Also you’d need a micro-sd card to store videos. The videos will be stored on a local memory card and you can view the footage in the app. The videos are not 24/7, but only when there is a motion detection trigger. If you want a 24/7 recording, then you’d need a model that connects directly to an outlet as battery powered + solar charging is not enough to record 24/7.
– Viewing the videos is easy to navigate in the app. Just click on the History tab, and under it there are CALENDAR (which you select for the date) and ALERT (which sort all the videos by time of day. So even when you have lots of motion detection on the day, viewing them is quite easy to do.
– WIFI: This camera uses the 2.4GHz wifi band and does not use the 5GHz as many are using now in the home. If you don’t have a dual band wifi signal, you have to go into your router and reconfigure it so that it outputs 2.4Ghz and 5GHz band separately. The support of 2.4GHz is normal as every camera and doorbell units at this price range all use the 2.4GHz and do not support 5GHz band.
– POWER: This camera is battery operated and comes with a solar panel to charge the camera when it’s sunny. This is by far the best system in my opinion. For a wire connection camera, you have to run a long power cord to connect the camera. For a battery operated only camera, sooner or later you have to go outside and charge the camera. But for the hybrid system such as this ANRAN camera, it uses the solar panel to charge the battery and so technically, you’d never have the need to go and charge the camera. The solar is charged via micro-usb port. There is a thick silicon cover in the camera that allows the micro-usb cable to plug in, while providing a tight seal against the weather. The cable is long so you can hang the solar panel in a high place to get the sun to charge.
– MOTION DETECTION: There is motion detection in the camera. You can adjust the Detection Sensitivity between 1-10 levels. This also has the ability to select the Alarm Area. You can draw areas to have the Motion Detection to only work on specific areas of the frame that you like. This is nice to have if you have the camera pointed to a busy road and you don’t want the motion alarm to notify you every time a car drives by. Just select the area without the road and you’re all set.
– Overall, this is a camera system that’s worth the $130 price it’s asking for (price is at time of review, including all savings). The ability to charge via solar and the ability to select for Motion detection area are just perfect for what I am looking for. Definitely recommended.
This is a sweet camera for those lace where you cant get cables to.
So this is completely wireless, no need for power, no need for any wires.
The trick is to make sure you get it paired and working before you put it up on a wall, you don’t want to go up there twice unless you can avoid it.
This runs on the cloudedge app. This camera fits in well with the ieGeek range as they also use this app.
Pairing is straight forward and you just need to follow the instructions on screen.
Installation is done via 3 screws on the camera, Those lined up perfectly with the mortar in your brickwork so avoided drilling bricks. The solar panel on the other hand had a much smaller footprint and would have it every brick so I elected to attach it to the wooden beam below the roofline.
Quality wise it comes up clear and the night vision is the same as my wired cameras.
Overall you cant really go that far wrong with this. Yes its a little more pricey that a wired model but you can put this anywhere.
Great cameras. Very easy to fit. Just don’t put a screw in the camera like I did.
Fantastic features. Lights siren instant mobile alerts
Great camera battery life amazing ,not even used the solar panel yet 2 wks it’s been up and only gone through 25% of battery, one thing I will add and that was totally my fault , I decided to make a small insert with a tiny grub screw to secure it to the wall as the bracket didn’t seem sturdy enough, not realise I had punctured it through the battery and small circuit board, and not realising what I had done the camera failed,so I got on to manufacture, and they were brilliant great service all round , sent out a new one and all is good , so just to say if you do get any trouble with the camera you know the after sales team are on it . Very happy with product. Hope the pictures help so know one done the same as I did .
Very easy to setup, manual is straight forward with step by step on how to setup the camera app. I like there is options for me to install it on a walk or a ciciling. The security camera can rotate and move to different direction (left, right, up, down and zoon) by using the app. You can touch on the live video feed and the motor on the camera will point to the direction. Very nice feature.
The 2K picture quality is great, but the streaming bit rate is a bit too slow when trying to look at a live feed on 2K resolution (wifi signal is great and have a very fast internet). There is a SD format which load up right away.
The camera have a mic and speaker which you can talk to the person, also a bright led light that light up at night with motion detected. The solar power is the main reason for this security camera, so that you don’t need to run power cord for the camera which make the installation much easier. Micro SD card storage is not included so you need to get one. There are many features to like about this solar power security camera. I think it is a good value package and time will tell how it will handle during our Canadian winter time. Overall, very happy with this camera and highly recommend it.
This review is for ANRAN 2K Security Camera Wireless Outdoor with 360 View, Solar Outdoor Camera with Smart Siren, Spotlights, 2K Color Night Vision, AI Human Detection, 2-Way Talk, Compatible with Alexa,Q3 2K White, $129.99 after $50 coupon
Pros:
– solar powered with detachable solar panel. No need for a power line. I love this feature the most
– works mostly well
– you can adjust the angle of this camera (but no motion tracking)
– alert message works mostly ok if you made sure the app is running in background
– no need to subscribe and will alert you instantaneously most of the time
Cons:
– motion detection works most of the time but not 100%
– night vision works in open areas… I tried on my the side of my house and because of the fence, the night vision only works on fence and not on the alley
Overall, I am satisfied with this security camera.
After looking at some reviews on cctv, I decided to buy this camera and I’m not disappointed, it’s very easy to set up and the app is very easy to use. I bought the camera to watch over my garage and car which you can see from the photos the picture quality is excellent. I’m also very impressed with quality of the night vision with a camera at this price. The camera also comes with a built in speaker which is really good. Just press the talk button on your app and speak to whoever is near the camera. The camera is also motorised which is very useful and really easy to use. The built in siren is quite loud as well, all in all this is a great cctv set up and I would recommend this to anyone. Hope this helps you make your mind up.
ANRAN Q3 Pro 2K Security Camera Wireless Outdoor with 360 View, Solar Outdoor Camera with Smart Siren, Spotlights, 2K Color Night Vision, AI Human Detection, 2-Way Talk
First off, this is a great security camera. Before I get there, however, be aware that if you are going to get more than one outdoor security camera and buy them at different times from different sellers, try to find out what app they rely on so you don’t have to sign up for more apps than you need to. This one uses CloudEdge.
The camera works as advertised.
Prior to set-up, I charged the battery using the included cable.
Instructions and installation was clear and simple. Connecting to the 2.4GHz network was easy enough. Finding a suitable location is easy enough due to the ability to point the camera any direction desired. The camera and my router communicated well from about 35 feet through a thick brick wall and near the soffit.
The app provides good functionality. Notifications and sensitivity can be set on the phone and in the app respectively. Notifications are a bit overzealous with default settings for my needs but it’s possible to dial things back.
Images and video from the device are available to your phone and are saved to a microSD card (Class 10 or higher/ not provided). Images are clear. Very nice!
The microphone works as does the intercom. There is an emergency alarm that can be triggered in the app.
With the solar panel installed in a sunny place, power has been adequate. Great!
Lots to like here. Highly recommended!
Very easy to install, nice picture quality and I was totally shocked by the solar design.
This thing is great, the solar enegy idea is perfect for cameras that are likey to be used on wherehouses or places where they are not going to have a direct power supply all the time. The cameras work well and they do not compromise of style.
We bought this camera for our daughter and they’re perfect. She’s renting her house so didn’t want to have to wire then in so the fact that you just fix them tonthe wall and thats it is perfect. The picture quality is great and app is easy to use.
– Solar panel charge
– App is easy to navigate
– Easy to set up and use right away
– Great picture detail
– Gives off motion detection straight to your phone notifications
– Watch live on your phone or will record when motion is detected if you’re not by your phone.
So far this camera has worked a treat. It’s been mounted to the wall outside for a couple of weeks now, and has been working fine in some seriously heavy rain!
There’s plenty of positives to go over, and a couple of negatives worth pointing out:
+The image is clear, even on stream. Content that get’s saved to SD card looks even better when read from the card directly. Night vision is good and it illuminates the back fence in the opposite corner at about 10 meters away with no issues. Contrast is decent too, it holds up very well in moderately tricky situations, although if it’s looking directly into the sun, you may lose detail in the darker areas.
+WiFi performance is good too, usually sitting at about 70%. Much improved over my previous camera. For those who struggle with WiFi, the Anran also supports an lower quality stream setting for it’s streaming of video, and it get’s the bit-rate down to a nice 15 – 20KB per second without completely obliterating the image, so it’s nice for those with weaker WiFi.
+Range of motion is great, if you place this in a 90 degree corner, the field of view you get means that you won’t need to ever rotate it really. If you place it on a flat surface, you’ll be able to rotate the view to see along either surface without issues. The head can actually turn pretty much all the way, if this thing came with a corner mount, or if you decide to somehow mount it on the corner of your building, it’ll be able to look all around.
+Solar Panel is great too. The battery in the camera is clearly designed to last a while, I’d imagine months, but it’s hard to say for sure because with the solar panel plugged in, it doesn’t really use the battery during the day. During normal nights I don’t really get any traffic in the garden unless the neighbours cat is out and about, so it doesn’t even drop by 1%. As a test, I unplugged the solar for a day, triggered the sensor at least 10 times during the day, each with a 30 second recording, and even streamed the camera to my phone several times while keeping an eye on my kid. It barely dropped. Winter will be the true test of course, but for now I’m very optimistic.
+Easy set up and wall mount. Setting up the camera is as easy as most, get the app, follow the steps, you’re connected. Mounting the camera is also easy using the included wall mounting plate for both the camera and the solar panel.
+The app is straight forward and easy to use. There’s no need for a monthly subscription, the camera can be operated entirely with local storage. You can use the app to access the camera at home, or when out and about. Notifications come through within around 5 seconds at most, I find this depends on how long the camera has been sleeping. Once you’re looking at the live stream, there’s only about half a second delay in the video feed coming through.
+A few other features worth mentioning is the built in siren, self explanatory. The flash light is decent, and when you enable it, the camera switches from night vision mode to normal mode, and it really does pick up the light from the flash light very well, especially on closer up subjects. The motion sensor can be configured in multiple ways. You can have it simply start recording, or turn on the light, siren, and record, etc. The sensitivity can be adjusted as well, and I found that at a level 7 our of ten, it would pick up the neighbours cat, but wouldn’t be triggered by things like leaves or branches moving, or rain falling.
A couple of the things I though could be better:
-The video recording is triggered by motion events, and then it records for a set period of time. You can the time up to 30 seconds in the app, however if you’re walking about in front of the camera and the 30 seconds is reached, it will stop recording for a moment, and then start recording a new clip. It would be better if the motion sensor was continuously monitored and the recording duration extended until motion stops.
-The mount is easy to place, and putting the camera onto it is also easy, but there’s no way to secure the camera to it in case some one tries to steal it. It’s recommended to mount it high anyway, but if you’re mounting it lower, it just takes a tug to put it off its mount. I thought of just gluing it, however by doing so, I wouldn’t be able to access the screws in order to take the mount off of the wall in future.
-App doesn’t have a tablet layout, so always forces my tablet into portrait mode, but then jumps back to landscape mode for video playback. A little annoying.
Over all, it’s a good camera with some solid functionality. If you want extra detection features and cloud storage, you can sign up to the cloud option within the app. But if you’re looking for that one time purchase option, this camera has you covered
I needed a cctv camera for my house since we’re most of the time working or going out of town for work. So, it’s necessary to have one just to be safe and to monitor our house while we’re away. This security camera is wireless and is easy to install. I liked the non stop solar panel feature because it’s so convemient to the areas where the power outlet is far from where the camera is. It has clear video quality even at night due to its night vision feature. It has motion sensor alarm too which helps detects for any suspicious activities or persons around the vicinity. The camera looks sturdy and has a good quality for its price. It’s not cheap looking yet the price is reasonable. I’m totally impressed.
The camera is very easy to set up and hook to you phone after downloading the app. The mounting of the camera and the solar panel is also very easy and straightforward. The camrea is a bit on the big side so you definitely can’t conceal it. Once the camera is set up and running you control it all with your phone you can move the camera around during live viewing to see different angles and even set off alarms. You can talk and its actually quite clear through the camera and only slight delays. The sound playback is clear too. The recording easy to go back and view what the camera caught throughout the day or night. It will switch automatically between color in the day to black and white at night but you can turn on lights at night for a color picture. The picture quality is not the best out there but still pretty good for the price of the camera
We have starlink internet and had 0 problem connecting the camera to it.
Pros:
-able to operate via app from any location
-solar panel allows for charge
-can move the camera in any direction via app
-can communicate via audio 2 way
-has lights, alarm, siren, motion detection
-notifications for motion detection
-able to save videos
Cons:
-Needs micro sd card for best use
-subscription needed for cloud service
-poorly translated
-phone notification have seemingly random numbers and letters
Overall though, this is a very nice self-reliant security camera… one that you be sure is always working whereas it’s solar.
I was in need of an outdoor camera because having some trouble with strangers near my car outside. So when I saw this security camera with solar panels I decided to try it out, and I am very happy with it. The image quality is very good and the setup was not that complicated. It as a ton of features and it as a 360-degree view for monitoring the outside. You will need to purchase a micro SD card but they are not very expensive now. Good product may get another one if the experience continues to be positive.
This is a review of the 2022 Anran Q3 model Wireless PTZ Solar Camera.
It is very similar to the Anran Q1 camera (which is also an awesome camera) but with some new enhancements. My review of the Q3 will have a lot of the Q1 content. The Q3 enhancements will be highlighted with *** at the beginning of the sentence.
This camera is packed, and I mean packed with great features. I spent a lot of time testing it out and the more I discovered, the more I was impressed (as you can probably tell from this review’s title). It’s a lengthy review but I’m sharing my detailed findings to help people determine if this is a camera for them. Here goes.
I reviewed this camera using a SanDisk Ultra 32GB MicroSD card that I purchased separately (and works fine) and a Samsung S8 Android phone. I mounted the camera about 7 feet off the ground beside my driveway, and a couple of feet away from the Anran Q1 that I already have.
Configuration/Installation:
As with most cameras, Wifi 2.4ghz only (5ghz is not supported). Make sure that your Smart phone is on your 2.4ghz Wifi network before starting configuration (you can change it back to 5ghz after adding the device If you wish). Note: Like all Wifi cameras, you have to be on the same local network only to perform the initial one-time setup. After that you can access the device from anywhere in the world using the app (as long as you have an internet connection).
The included instruction manual is in 5 languages: English, French, German, Italian & Spanish.
This camera can be wall or ceiling mounted. There is a “flip screen” option however if for some strange reason you want to mount it upside down somehow.
Obviously, be sure to angle the solar panel towards the southern sky to capture the most/strongest sun as possible.
*** With the Q3 they’ve greatly improved the mounting bracket which now allows the camera to be slid off and taken down (e.g. for manual recharging) without any tools. I found that it also makes installation a lot easier too as you only have to hold the small base bracket while screwing it in instead of the whole bulky weight of the camera.
Adding the device in the app and Wifi setup was straight forward. It went without a hitch except for a disturbing message that I sometimes see about the network name or password length being too long (see pic). My Wifi name is 9 characters long and my password is 32. Neither are at the maximum possible length. The camera should accept up to any “acceptable” length of characters for these fields and not issue a warning message like this. Despite this warning, the Wifi setup completed OK for me.
For Alexa support you will need to enable the Cloudedge skill in the Alexa app to link your accounts. This also worked without any problems for me.
Main Features:
The name of the Android app is CloudEdge and is pretty decent.
The camera rotates 90 degrees vertically, and 355 degrees horizontally providing a 360-degree view.
It supports a MicroSD card up to 128GB for recordings.
Cloud storage is an available option for an ongoing cost. Otherwise, there is no charge to use the camera or app.
It has a solar panel to automatically keep the battery charged. This is obviously a major advantage over other wireless cameras that need to be taken down when the battery needs recharging. Other than the wire to the solar panel, there are no other wires. The solar panel wire is a little over 9′ long. Battery strength will vary depending on things like how long you access the Live view, watch recordings, and how many motion detections/recordings there are. In my case the solar panel has had no problem keeping the battery charged. There is also a cool screen under “Battery Management” called “Electricity Usage Statistics” that shows the battery and Wifi-signal strength for the current day and for the past week so you can monitor the levels!
There are rubber seals for each of the openings and its weatherproof rating is IP65.
*** Unlike its predecessor the Q1, the Q3 model IS Alexa compatible! After linking the accounts, using voice commands to see the camera image work fine.
It has “2-way” audio (microphone & speaker). The lag is only <= 1 second and better than some other cameras that I've seen. The speaker volume can be set from 0-100 and works very well at 70%. The microphone works fine too. However, audio is actually one way "at a time". I.e. while you're pressing the "intercom" button in the app to speak, you can no longer hear the other person if they say something while you're talking. A button/option for concurrent 2-way audio would be better. *** The Q3 comes with 2K resolution (which is higher than the Q1) with excellent picture quality (day & night). As you can see from the pics, the nighttime color image is great. The Anran cameras are the first cameras I've had that can produce color images at night and I am impressed. Even the black and white infrared images are very clear. Great zoom image quality as well. The human motion detection and alerts performed well. When I pointed it towards the street the amount of false motion alerts was almost zero. No alerts for passing cars but it did once for a motorcycle and once for a truck. It correctly triggered for passing pedestrians. Motion detection sensitivity is customizable 1-10. Event recording only (not continuously), which can be expected given that it's battery powered. Video recording length can be set to either 10, 20 or 30 seconds. You can set a schedule ("Alert Plan") for when you want the alerts to be active if you don't want to receive them 24/7. I was also able to configure my Fitbit Charge 4 watch to receive the notifications (see pic). Despite being a PAN camera, you can also define an "Alarm Area" of the image for human motion detection. E.g. you may choose to have the camera monitor your driveway but not the street in the background. Audio warning and strobe light: When human motion is detected (at night only), you have 3 additional options. You can: 1) Sound an audible alarm 2) Have the white LED spotlights turn on (solid) 3) Have both the alarm sound and the lights turn on (strobe light effect). Note: Even with the alarm setting turned on, it will not sound during the day for motion. But you are able to manually sound the alarm. Things to consider with the above settings; 1) With the option of the white LED spotlights and/or siren for motion detection active, the camera presence will be known and that's good for deterring unwelcome trespassers. The white spotlights also allow for a color image which is great to identify the color of clothing or a car. 2) But if the desire is to monitor for an intruder without the camera presence being known (without alarm and LED spotlights) then the image will be the usual black and white taken with infrared lights. As you can see from the pics, the clarity of both nighttime options is excellent. The fact that you have two options to choose from is great. The video playback (history) screen has a nice calendar and scrollable timeline showing motion detection occurrences. If you have multiple Anran cameras (or multiple cameras that use the CloudEdge app), you can view up to 4 concurrently in split screen mode. BUT, when viewing a device from the multiple screen mode, you can make it full screen but the image resolution is lower and you cannot zoom. To zoom a specific camera, you have to back out and select the specific device from the list. What it Doesn't Have: It does not have a Windows PC interface. If this is a must for you though, you can install an Android emulator (like MEmu) and then install the app there. It's not a pretty work around, but it works. There is no motion tracking (i.e. the camera will not "follow" a moving object to keep it in view). I know that this is designed to be an outside camera, but it would still have been nice to have an option for sound alerts in addition to motion (e.g. the sound of breaking window glass out of camera view). Summary This camera has a decent weight to it and feels like it's made of quality materials. In rotating the camera's position with the app, the response is snappy and better than average with no lag. With its long list of great features; being equipped with both IR & LED lights, the ability to provide color images at night, the siren, solar panel and now with Alexa support puts this camera above other wireless PTZs. Anran took the Q1 camera, which is a great camera, and added more good stuff to make the Q3. There is very little I didn't like about it and it easily warrants 5 stars. I can't see how anyone would be disappointed with this camera.
I am very happy with this camera. The controls are easy to use and the quality of the images is very good. It has all the features I need. All in all, I am very pleased with this system.
I like this camera
I’ve always wanted cameras but didn’t want to have to pay to have them hard wired into the electricity. These are perfect. The solar panel gets the (limited) sun for the first half of the day and this is enough to keep it fully charged and it never dips below 80% charge. I have it focused on my shed but can move it via the app. At night it’s motion detection triggers a flood light and siren. If I didn’t know the price I’d have said this would be 3 times the price! Faultless and I’ve already ordered another Q3 !!! Took me about an hour to screw into brick, set up the app and work my way around everything. One thing to note is that there’s 2 indentations in the bracket, dont punch these through if your thinking of screwing into the camera. Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
I installed this camera in literally 15 minutes – the instructions were easy to follow and the camera connected to the wifi first time, although that was to be expected as the router is only 3m and one wall away. The app is simple enough to install and use and the images are clear and sharp. I particularly like the fact that the LED lamp comes on when movement is detected as it lights up the area so i dont need additional lighting. So far I am very happy with the camera system as everything appears to be first class and works exactly as advertised.
The most important aspect while deciding to buy a camera for me is not to have any cables to install and surely this camera doesn’t! I am quite familiar with the design and installation which took me around 30 min to do it. I took a ladder, found the right spot, drilled 7 holes and attached the cam and the solar panel, connected both using the cable and that was it, pretty easy.
To install the app I scanned the qr code on the pack, followed the basic steps, connected it to the wireless network and from there it was ready to be used.
The video quality is 1080p with a good balance between darks and highlights, the colours are bright and when I zoom at the max I can still see some details which is great. I know that a small sensor like the one on this cam is struggling a bit to get good details during night time(I perfectly understand that) but overall I cannot complain at all about the video.
The pictures are also decent in quality and size(probably a bit too sharp) but I am grateful this cam supports taking snaps.
Since I have installed it, the cam is still on but I admit, there were only sunny days so it charged properly, I am curious to see how it will perform during the rainy season.
I didn’t activate the motion detection so I cannot say too many things about it.
In terms of of build in quality, the cam is made from strong quality plastic, it has the ports sealed to avoid any dust/ water going in and both, the cam and solar panels have strong holders so I am not afraid it will fall.
Something that is very important for my personal preference is the fact the cam`s wide angle covers the most part of my front house and this is what I was looking for.
Overall experience with this product: easy to install and operate. Good purchase.
This is perfect for my security needs, and I’m delighted with it so far. It was a doddle to get it set-up. Although the instructions wanted me to do the set-up at the location of its intended use, I chose to do it comfortably at my desk and then install the camera once it was already connected and working.
The easy, step-by-step process went without a hitch, the app was straightforward, well designed, and (to my great surprise) didn’t insist on any permissions from my phone! (It does have a pop-up message informing me that without certain permissions being granted a few things might not work, but I have yet to discover any functions that are affected. It works just fine, and I click ignore each time.)
Once connected to my router and sending HD images to my phone, I installed the camera in its position and used the remote control in the app to adjust the pan and tilt of the camera to get it focused in the exact area desired. This was great fun, by the way.
I’m not using the camera in my house. It’s installed in my camper van. This is important, because obviously I need to be mobile and the camera needs to work reliably wherever the van is parked. I can happily report that when the van is parked outside my house, the camera automatically connects to the router in my house. When I drive off, the camera – which has already identified me as a burglar and begun recording – continues to record as I drive around, even though it’s disconnected from the router. When I arrive back at my house, the camera instantly reconnects to the house router without any fuss.
The motion sensor (which is adjustable) is very accurate, and knows the difference between a person and a moving light or shadow. When I enter my van it sends an immediate alarm to my phone and begins recording.
When I go away for extended periods, I’ll be using the van’s SIM router – but as this is the same one I’m currently using in the house, I already know that it works just fine. (It has 5G or 2.5G and the camera only works with 2.5 so you’ll need to select the correct one during setup if yours has two as well).
The camera has two LED lights which can be switched on remotely from the app, and an alarm and 2-way comms too, so you can shout at any intruders. I have so far only tested the lights, which work great, and are fun to play with if, like me, you’re easily impressed by such things. It also has night vision which comes on automatically in low light.
I have got into the habit of viewing the feed from the camera periodically, and it’s very reassuring.
Overall, I can’t fault this camera. The only thing I will say is that if, like me, you intend to use it on a vehicle, you’ll probably want to wrap some electrical tape around the mounting once you slide it on, as it can slide off its mounting if you go over a pot hole! It’s easy to do, and is barely noticeable if you use white PVC tape, which is conveniently just the right width for the job.
A great product that provides peace of mind and a deterrent against thieves.
This isa very decent camera,I do have static cameras already but really wanted a movable one and . This one sis just that, I have yet to put it up, but to great with heights! Once I will up load footage but on setting it up which is very easy indeed and just trying it out , I’m very impressed picture quality looks OK, when seeing up in to close with my phone to give a update on the audio..but once in its forever home I will update
Great priced 2K solar powered/ charging security camera with tilt and pan features. At the time of writing this review the price is 180, less a 40 dollar coupon, so bringing it down to 140 dollars , not bad at all. Overall the build quality is good, and is waterproof. The picture quality is very good, being 2K. The night vision is good as well. They say it is coloured night vision.. I dont know why so many camera companies are saying that nowadays. It is not coloured night vision. It has a spot light that you can elect to come on when motion is triggered. When that light comes on and it records video…. It is no longer Dark, it is Light.. so the camera will record in colour like any other camera will do. However if you do not use the spotlight and it records video…. it will be in black and white, like any other camera. lol that being said the app works well as you would expect, and you can see real time events as well as talk and listen like most cameras out there. Yes, I am saying like most cameras a lot.. So why 5 stars… Because you get a solar charging… full tilt and pan …. a spot light feature… and 2K all for 140 dollars… Now that isnt like most cameras at that price. Overall a good security camera a a good price. I hope this helps in your decision making.
Wow this is such a good item if your camera is due to be positioned in an area which gets a good amount of sunlight during the day! To avoid having to drill through a wall and connect power, this camera simply has a solar panel attached to the top which will power the unit constantly. It has a 360 turn so you can control and angle in different positions as and when needed and has a good clear night vision along with security feature like a siren alarm and a spotlight. You can also speak with people through it as it has a two way intercom. This is fairly quiet on the way of the microphone for them to speak back, but clear enough to hear. Really simple setup with easy to follow instructions! Arrived nicely packaged and is definitely a deterrent! App controlled which is really easy to use.
Wow very surprised by this camera with the solar panels, as I didn’t have any socket to power the othe camera that i had, i got this brilliant and incredible camera that it’s working perfectly and is very easy so set up, the camera is staying fully charged as this days is beed sunny, is recording every move in front of our door, we feel more safe now as every move we can watch through the mobile.
it looks and feels quality and is rechargeable which is fantastic means in winter months it will still work and you can choose if to use the solar panel or not, you can also leave it plugged into a socket, when it needs recharging you just slide camera off bring in and use the usb lead to recharge, it was really easy to set up and gives a really clear picture which covers the full length and width of my drive
Having recently purchased 2 solar Anran CCTV cameras to use at a house in Portugal, we decided to purchase 2 more for use in Portugal and UK.
They have now improved the ones we purchased which we were most impressed with but the latest now have FHD and obviously slightly better visual/pixels.
The instruction manual could be better but the head office in China have been very helpful when needed and I would highly recommend the cameras which are very easy to install, operate and share.
Current price point at the time/date of this review: $179.99 with a $45 off coupon provided by the seller. The price is pretty decent but only because of the coupon currently being offered by the seller. I mean the net difference/total amount is really where the price should’ve been in the first place. That’s where you’ll find a lot of these premium featured solar type units going for. The net difference is really the market average in many ways so nothing really too special about the price when you really step away from it all.
With that being said, this unit works fairly good and I very much do like the design and build quality of this unit. The solar panel conveniently sits on top of the unit helping to shield it a little more from the elements. Overall I’m fine with it, but give us a real discount/coupon will ya?
This camera promises a lot!
Solar powered, wifi camera
In theory so long as you have sunlight and wifi signal, you can place this pretty much anywhere!
First impressions are good, you get:-
– a solar panel
– camera unit
– wall mount for solar panel
– wall mount for camera
– USB cable
– wall plugs and screws
The solar panel outputs micro usb and has about 2 metres of cable. This may seem long enough, but I really could have done with the extra metre, but nevermind, I did find somewhere suitable for the panel… so I installed this at the end of my garden on the shed, which just about had wifi signal and gets direct sunlight for half the day.
Installation took a while, but mostly trying to figure out where to put it, the screws and wall plugs are very cheap ones, so I’d suggest using your own ones for best results.
In terms of app, it uses the “CloudEdge” app, which I already have another camera using. It’s a shame it’s not the Tuya/SmartLife one, but not the end of the world.
At 100 (129.99 with 30 voucher) at time of review, I think this is good value for a solar powered wifi panning security camera which has two way audio and alarm plus light!
Definitely recommend this from initial testing.
However I will be keeping an eye on the performance over time.
We have a few security cameras and video doorbells which are excellent but… they either need a power supply which is impractical in some locations or they need to be recharged regularly which means, once fitted, they need to be accessible. If used on a bungalow then accessible can also mean accessible to thieves – which defeats their purpose. I was instantly attracted to this because it is solar powered so these issues don’t apply.
The camera arrived already carrying a charge and I then left it connected to its solar panel to charge fully for a day before experimenting with the best location, downloading the CloudEdge app and registering the highly intuitive app which works on all our Android devices, including phones and tablets. We then paraded in front of it to test its PIR motion detection sensitivity, twin LED lights and camera/video performance before finally locating it beside a first floor window with the solar panel positioned higher facing due south into the sun.
Picture quality is excellent with colour in daylight, mono in dark conditions and a pair of LED lights which can be set to switch on when motion is detected. This is highly useful for ourselves, dusk deliveries (it even has 2-way audio to speak with delivery couriers) and as a PIR security light.
We really like this security camera. It is simple to fit with just two brackets to support the camera and solar panel but no other wiring needed – and no batteries or recharging either due to the solar panel. It connected to our Wifi instantly and, unlike some other cameras we’ve used, it just… works. Others have had stuttering images, poor WIFI connection or clunky apps whereas this camera and app work smoothly and reliably together.
I recommend in complete confidence – for the first time following testing any security camera.
This camera arrived in a sturdy, shrink wrapped cardboard box with the contents protected by moulded dense foam inserts.
The box contains:
* The camera itself.
* Camera wall mounting plate.
* Solar panel (with 3m Micro-USB cable).
* Ball joint mount for solar panel.
* Rubber plug (for sealing solar panel plug hole when not in use).
* USB-A to Micro-USB charging cable (1m).
* Plugs/screws for fixing camera and solar panel.
* ’24 Hour Surveillance’ warning sticker.
* Drilling templates for camera and solar panel.
* Quick setup guide.
The camera uses the ‘Cloudedge’ app which I already have on my phone for another camera, so setup only took a couple of minutes. ‘Cloudedge’ is available for both Android and IOS and is free. Before you use the app you have to register with an e-mail address and password. Setup is straightforward. You enter the details of your wireless network (SSID and password) in the app and it generates a QR code that you hold in front of the camera lens. That’s about it. It’s worth doing this before you actually install the camera as it would be much more difficult up a ladder! I have my SSID hidden by default but I didn’t have to make it visible for the camera to find the network (a problem I’ve had with other wireless cameras).
You need to drill 3 holes for the camera and 3 for the solar panel mount. The solar panel can be positioned up to 3m away from the camera. I’m getting around 90% wireless signal (according to the app) and that’s about 20m from the router through a brick wall. The app reports that the camera is charging from the solar panel even in overcast weather so as long as the camera isn’t triggered too often battery life is excellent and hasn’t dropped below 100% in the recent sunny weather (the solar panel is in direct sunlight until around noon then it just has the general light from the sky).
The app isn’t as user friendly or versatile as other camera apps I’ve used and it doesn’t have any of the advanced features (human motion tracking, preset positions etc.) that some others do. The camera has a couple of built in white floodlights and these can be switched on automatically when the camera is triggered or switched on manually in the app. When these lights are switched on the camera changes from its normal black and white IR mode to full colour mode. You can also have these flash and an alarm sound when the camera is triggered if desired.
You can define the motion detection areas in the image that trigger recording (but I’m not sure if this has any real affect on the built in PIR sensor). There are only options to record 10, 20 or 30 seconds of video when triggered and trigger sensitivity can be varied. You get 7 days cloud storage for free but then you have to pay for this facility. Instead, I’m using the option to record to a local SD card (not supplied) which is inserted under a sealed cover on the bottom of the camera. Of course, if somebody made off with the camera these recordings would be lost. The camera can be set to send alerts to your phone when motion is detected but there is some lag as there is with the two way sound communication, but both work.
Daytime and night time (IR) picture quality is good and on a par with other cameras in this price range but is nothing spectacular (see screenshot pictures. Please note that there is an extra IR floodlight used in the night time image).
PTZ camera control through the app is smooth and responds well. There is a digital zoom facility (by pinching the image) in the live view but, obviously, you lose resolution and image quality when you zoom in.
There is no ONVIF or RTSP stream available with this camera as this requires a constant video stream which is impractical on a battery camera, so it can not be added to an existing security camera system.
I haven’t had this camera long enough to comment on its long term performance but I’ll update this review if there’s anything to report.
This camera performs well and is easy to set up but it is let down by not having some of the advanced features that other similarly priced cameras have and this makes it seem expensive at 129.99 (you can get an almost identical camera on Amazon for around 100). This and the fact that you have to pay for cloud storage (some other cameras give free rolling 7 day cloud recording) lose it a star.
I have had a few security cameras in the past but most of them have all been hardwired. I recently moved home into another rental and my landlord was very strict about not creating too many holes. This camera is one of the finest security cameras I have owned. And I have owned many. No wires, easy to install, and easy to connect to the CloudEdge app. I did have it in my bedroom as I have a lot of expensive things there but since decided to have it mounted to the corner of my house on a high rise wooden fence so that my landlord can’t complain. Its quite a few metres away from the home and it still works great.
It can also act as a security alarm with a built in strobe and siren which is a nice little touch to deter any unwanted visitors but quite frankly its a little bit too much in my opinion. I have the motion sensitivity set to 6 out of 10 and I’m not getting false alarms. By that I mean animals and insects don’t really set it off. The only con is battery cameras can not record 24-7. However with this camera you can set it to record alerts from 10-30 seconds. You can also hit the record button and record video at any time.
If you need 24-7 recording I would suggest something else. But if you are after something that can work similar to a dash cam when idle, recording the last footage when motion is detected and making it available to remotely access at any time, this is perfect. The solar panel keeps the battery fully charged and overnight is not an issue. The battery is still nearly full in the morning so you shouldn’t have a worry. It will depend on where you situate this as its important it gets enough sunlight.
The solar panel seems to be quite sensate though as it gets enough charge and I’m not in a fully lit area. The night vision is very clear and steady when rotating the camera. It is good enough to be able to make out peoples facial features and read number plates. The two way audio function gives me a chance to say thank you to the delivery guys without opening door, sometimes freaking them out. It has been a great piece of kit for me and the mobile app just improves it that little bit more. If you need something thats easy to setup, no wires, tonnes of features and improved peace of mind, this is a great choice.
Hope this review helps you out.
This camera comes with all the fitments to screw both the camera and the solar panel into place. It even has a security sticker to place on your window stating that cctv is on the premises. This security camera was very easy to set up with my wifi and connects to my phone with the downloaded app. It records to the app but there is a slot to insert a micro sd card to record in the camera. The solar panel plugs into the base of the lamp, but there is also a usb lead that can be plugged into a power supply if the panel doesn’t get enough sunlight. I would imagine that it would be require during the winter months but I wont know until then, at the moment is is running smoothly.
Full control of the 360 degree view is done using the app.
I am really impressed with the quality of the build and how easy it was to set up.
129.99 at the time of this review for a quality security camera.
This is a tough, weatherproof outdoor IP camera with solar panel for power. It’s fairly bulky (15 x 10cm) and fairly conspicuous with its twin antenna, but is well made and tough.
The kit includes:
Camera,
Mounting bracket with screws
Solar panel (17 x 12cm) with mount and screws
USB cable to attach camera to panel
Surveillance sticker: ’24 HOUR VIDEO SURVEILLANCE’
32GB micro USB card
Instruction booklet
Setting up the camera in the desired location is easy, all fittings are included and thanks to the solar power functionality it can be located in areas which don’t have a mains supply. The camera has plenty of functions, aside from 360 x 90 degree pan and tilt (controlled by the App), including record to SD card function, siren alert, spotlight, motion detection and Alexa compatibility.
The App to control the camera is ‘CloudEdge’ which is free to download. Signing up for cloud storage is optional but won’t be necessary if the 32GB storage is sufficient.
Anran make a range of security cameras from single cameras to multi camera kits and can be seen on the Anran website.
This solar security camera is great, it’s got high quality video and connects to an app. I love how it works with solar power which means you can use it anywhere and it moves as well. Amazing!
