This works Really well.
We replaced the damaged winch that was on our old boat trailer with this on and it worked.
You can figure out more things to put this on then for a boat I am sure.

This winch is easy to put together. The paint coating on the body seem very durable. The mounting location and design is well thought out and is very strong. The winch itself works great ! Very strong and can really pull a decent amount. I have mine mounted on my boat trailer and it does a great job !
I’m going to have this winch set up in my truck box to help get the big game animals in. Seems well built and a good price point.
This is a good basic, no frills winch with an 800 lb capacity.
The winch itself is well made, sturdy and durable. It’s all steel construction and compact in size. You get 26ft of steel cable with a latching hook on the end.
This which is ideal for small spaces or when you don’t need 1,000 or more winching capacity. The 3.2:1 gear ration works well for this size of winch and it’s easy to use and crank.
Overall I’m happy with everything about this winch except for the price. The price at the time of my review is $45.99 which is more than similar winches at local retailers. I personally would recommend this winch at a price of $30-$40 but not more than that.
Construction is nicely done and refined. The metal brackets are machined nicely (no sharp edges), black paint is perfect, all parts working smoothly.
It has 3 positions (crank locked (fwd only), crank locked (fwd/reverse), open (freely spins out).
Easy to attach/detach handle, crank gears are thick.
Overall a well made winch that’s perfect for attaching to an ATV or similar.

Well made and quite sturdy. But the steel cable is a little small compared to my existing winch.

Feel safe with this heavy duty boat trailer winch. This was exactly what I needed to replace an old, rusty one I’ve had that was made of material. This one comes with 26 ft. strong, sturdy, durable, steel cable with a strong portable hand crank. Easy to install.
I got this manual hand winch by Bravex to install on a stand I made to transfer the sea doo from the trailer to a stand, easily for winter storage in garage. The 800 lbs capacity is more then enough for what I need and acceptable value.
The only thing to assemble beside the actual installation is the handle, make sure the little square plate goes over the handle (see picture attached) not behind to prevent damage to the main shaft threads. It holds better this way.

Installation hardware is not included but no big deal as is hard to determine everyone’s installation method. You will need qty. 3 bolts 3/8-16″, lock nuts maybe some washers, the length to be determined before installation.
The winch it self is solid and build with fair quality, just found some minor sharp edges around the metal base that I will need to file down and repaint.
The spool holding the wire rope may be adapted with a 2″ strap if the cable gets damaged.

You can definitely use this for more than just on a boat… this winch caught my dad’s eye and he said, “Oh! I want that for my 4-wheeler!”… so… I’m sure there are many other things to put this winch on.

First impressions: Beefy. This winch is made of a thick stamped frame and hardened metal gears/pawls. The frame is powder-coated in a nice durable glossy black finish. All gears, pins, and hardware are zinc plated for longevity and corrosion resistance. The drum is spooled with a 5/32″x26 ft heavy-duty wire rope.
The bottom of the frame has a pretty universal bolt/slot pattern for most boat trailer replacements. The winch has a 3.2:1 speed ratio with the ability to winch forward or reverse from one side.
Overall I am impressed with the product; it seems to be made heavy-duty with good quality materials and durable finishes. My boat trailer is currently in storage at camp and I intend to replace its trailer winch with this one later in the fall after the season is over; I don’t anticipate any issues.

So the description states this is a:-

This winch has a 3.2: 1 gear and able to go forward and reverse ratcheting.
Unlike most people who get this for what it’s supposed to be used for. I’ve got to help me in the garden.
The winch has been attached to a scaffolding pole and is not being used for a washing line. Being disabled it can be hard doing a certain job and finding things to help do things for myself is important to keep my independence.
With this winch I’m able to wind the washing line down, hang my washing.
Then wind the winch back up. It has a ratchet that allows it to go both ways, you just have to move the little lever that allows you to wind it down first. Then just turn in the opposite direction to put back up.
The price at the time of this review is 39.97 which I think is a good price for this winch. I was previously given a price 3 times that for someone to get one for me.

This works ok although I am nervous of the steel cable rather than a webbing strap on the winch, as a steel cable can be dangerous if it breaks, that’s not to say this one will.
Ratchet action appears good and winch locks off.
A bit expensive compared to others I have had.

I was pleasantly surprised when received this it arrives in simple branded box but the winch itself seems really well made and strong.I originally ordered this for my daughter who does a lot of water sports and kayaking but my son in law says be really useful for variety of jobs in garage.Good value for quality and simple to use
I was really surprised when this winch arrived, I wasn’t really expecting too much given the price, but I was wrong.
This is a hefty winch that is perfect for fitting to a trailer for hand winching a smaller boat up. Handy for various uses in the garage as well.
The winch is a manual one and everything you need is in the box. It has a 26ft steel cable that has a very sturdy hook at the end. The winch has a two-way ratchet making it a lot safer to use. The gearing on this winch is 3.2: 1 making it easier winch to use.
This is a sturdy and well-made winch. Well worth the price and very easy to use. I would definitely recommend this.

This little winch is basic but tidy, and is ideal light duty as can be seen by the colleted construction at the cable ends. The Cable is smooth, chafe free and lies on the spool quite smoothly and evenly.
The winch can handle 800lbs so don’t go trying to winch a car, but for other lighter duty uses it is ideal. The longish wind handle makes for easy winching as well.
In all quite impressed with this, so 5 stars!

A good winch that’s well made and performs well. This hand winch is designed for pulling small boats out of the water. It The hand crank handle is comfortable to use. All the components are well made. The ratchet mechanism works as it should. There are different switch positions.
There are mountain holes for fitting. Came without any mounting hardware but not a big problem.

I asked a family member for his view in this as he has a boat and trailer. He’s impressed. He commented that the winch action is smooth, the unit is well built and the cable is superb. It’s easy to set up and even though it’s a hand winch, it requires little effort to load the boat onto the trailer. The metal build looks good quality and he advised a short squirt of silicon lubricant on the mountings etc to help prevent water damage over time. Very competitive in price and highly recommended.

Straight out of the box, everything feels of good quality, well made and durable. The steel frame, the cable, the bolts, the gear, the hook, they’re all metal and all feel of top quality.
With up to 800lbs support, it’s more than capable for my needs and does the job as expected.
All in all, it’s a handy winch for the price of 46.97 for the 800lbs version, which was the price at time of writing.

For the sake of brevity, I’ve demonstrated this winch uninstalled and unfixed to a tabletop. In my video, you will see that it has a three-position ratchet. A forward and reverse click retainer and a free-running position for reeling the metal cord out without ratchet to the pickup point.
All parts are metal, have heavyweight construction and appear to be perfectly adequate for use within the weight restriction. I suspect the painted metal frame will eventually scratch and chip and rust, but this is typical of all except the expensive all galvanised metal or stainless expensive variety. The all-important ratchet parts are carbon steel and these will not suffer so badly.
As a truck or boat winch, this is ideal. When secured adequately, it could even be used as a lightweight rescue winch on a vehicle. Checking the steel rope, all the cores are cleanly twisted and no breaks are apparent. When I fit this, I will grease up the gears and ratchet mechanism to give a smoother movement and weather protection
As with all these types of open winches, you need to check the physical structure for damage, debris, stresses and distortions before and after use. Looking at this one, I think it will give many years of use, providing it’s operated correctly and only pulling within its rated range. Given the modest price of 48, I would say this is a good buy and will give good service.

I must admit to never having heard of this brand before so I did wonder about it’s strength and quality. I was pleased to find that on arrival the winch was much better than expected. It does appear that Bravex is an American company, but this winch is manufactured in China.
The build quality appears to be excellent. The frame of the winch is made from heavy gauge pressed steel, held together with large bolts for strength, these are galvanised to help prevent corrosion. The drum is made from a slightly thinner metal but still appears strong, one side has a huge cog which one would expect to be hardened steel, although there is no way of finding that out. The cog certainly looks strong enough to take the rated 800lb strain. This winch has a 3 way galvanised ratchet lever that also looks strong. The 3 ratchet positions switch smoothly, the lever has a strong spring that snaps it securely into position. The handle is removable by way of a large locking nut, this has a round plastic grip that spins freely on the handle making turning of the handle comfortable.
The winch cable is made from multi-strand metal that also is galvanised, this is the traditional style of cable that has been used for many years with winches. The cable is 4mm in diameter with a total length of 8 metres (26 foot). The cable is securely fixed to the drum with a metal clamp held in place by 2 galvanised bolts. On the business end is a heavy duty metal hook which again should not rust.
Overall, for the current price of 47.97 I am please with the quality of this. The winch is small and compact measuring 14 x 11.5 x 9.5cm (without the handle), but it will handle up to 800lbs (362kg) in pulling power. The winch is ideal for fitting on a boat trailer, mower trailer, or just general use in a workshop for pulling heavy gear around. The winch has 3 mounting holes on the base which will take 3/8″ (10mm) bolts, the mounting bolts are not included.

I needed a winch to help pull my small boat onto a trailer and used this to do it. There are 3 settings that allow you to pull forward, or reverse via the gears, you can completely disengage the mechanism completely if you just want to pull the cable freely. Mounting is easy enough but you have to provide your own fittings. The construction feels pretty solid to me and I have no doubt that this will last a long time if you give it some grease now and again.

A good basic winch that’s well made and performs the way it should. The winch is rated up to 800lbs, so it’s perfect for smaller watercraft. The crank handle is really comfortable to use also. The price at time of writing is 47.97, which is decent value in my opinion.
I recently bought a wood chipper to help me in maintaining my yard – grinding downed branches and culled small trees into useful mulch. The thing is, the machine weighs about 450 pounds. It would be a chore for me to pull it into my garden shed, since there is a fairly steep ramp and a lip into the entrance. When I saw this winch on Amazon a light bulb went off in my head. This was a perfect item to pull the machine into my shed with very little effort! Once in, I can disconnect the winch cable and finagle the chipper into its place.
I just mounted the winch into the back wall of the shed today, and if I do say so myself it’s a pretty solid mount. I shouldn’t have any problems at all using this winch for my intended purpose. I haven’t tried it yet, as first I need to clear out some stuff from the shed to make room for the new machine, but I’m certainly looking forward to the first time cranking that handle and gently guiding the chipper into its new home!
The winch itself is very solid and well-built using heavy-gauge metals. Everything works perfectly mechanically and the cranking action is very smooth, as is the directional change lever. I know winches, having owned a couple of boats with trailers over the course of the past few years, and I can confidently say that this Bravex model is a good one.
This boat trailer winch from Bravex is a huge improvement from the previous boat trailer winch. I ordered this for my husband who has a lovely vintage 60s aluminum v-bottom boat. The old winch was probably the original and in pretty rough shape. The crank didn’t really work anymore and the hook was nearly rusted through. He was able to remove the old winch and replace with this new one in a couple of hours. The existing holes didn’t quite line up and he had to drill into the frame for new ones, but other than that- he said install was a breeze. He’s happy, so I’m happy!
