Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis fly trap really works. Within a week there were hundreds in the trap. But a word of warning. It stinks! I had it by my backdoor. After a while the pong was coming in. I had to move it. It still filled up where I put it. I decided to empty it so that I could put in a refill. BIG mistake. I emptied it in to a hole I had dug. Revolting. I was heaving so much. There was residue in the bottle so I thought to rinse it with hot water. BIG mistake No.2. The bottle melts. And is still really stinky. I swear my nostrils just clamped shut on their own. Want to really up set a Karen neighbour….

So iv just read the reviews about the smell… I hadn’t read them before as my auntie has these in her garden so thought stuff it I’ll get a few as I have 3 dogs and 2 toddlers so nappies and dog poop attract flies no matter how much I bleach the yard
For days iv been trying to find the smell I keep smelling… Well obviously it’s the traps i have 4 of these in the garden hanging in different places other than these 2. The near full one has been up 2 weeks now the not full one has been up since this morning. Absolutely brilliant trap

5.0 out of 5 stars Just read the reviews about the smell

Not a bad fly trap, smells like rotting meat which should attract the flies but doesn’t do a great job. Had both going for around a week indoors. Only one of the lids has the loop for hanging, other one was missing on arrival so I have one hanging in my front room over my seedlings, the other is on a table by my cat biscuits to try and stop flies contaminating their food. The traps appear to have started developing a thick white film on top of the liquid as well which needs agitation to break it up.

[edit] since putting one outside by the back door there have been a lot fewer flies in my house. The bottle that’s out there now has been there for 4 days and is nearly full of flies all trapped. I have no idea how I’m gonna clean it out to refill the solution though.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI saw this working at my friends house and was impressed. It wasn’t very full so no smell then. I don’t actually get many flies indoors as I use magnetic screens on my doors but having a dog you get flies in the garden.
It took a while to get any flies at first but the more dead ones you get the more appear.
Ours also had dead slugs and wasps in it!
There are so many flies I have no idea where they come from as it’s far more that I would have ever seen in the garden .
I have a really sensitive sense of smell and unfortunately as the flies die and it fills up it reeks of rotten eggs and poo. I have moved it to a less used part of the garden so it can keep working far away from me!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAll I can say is omg if you dislike fly’s as much as I do then this is most definitely for you !
Before I purchased this I read all the reviews and nearly every one spoke about the terrible smell it gave off well personally have not smelt anything.

All you do on opening up is put the powder into the jar then add the water (instructions are inside) and hey presto give it a few days and you’ll be fly free !

I have also seen that a lot of people have used these inside the house but it clearly states that it is for outside use only.
Place the containers no further away from the house that what it says and make sure it’s in the sunlight and that’s it you’re good to go !

UPDATE.OMG I NOW KNOW WHAT THEY MEAN ABOUT THE SMELL !
IT WAS SO FUNNY I HAD A FRIEND COME AROUND AND WE WERE SITTING IN THE GARDEN WHEN SHE KEPT LOOKING AT THE BOTTOM OF HER SHOES SHE THOUGHT SHE HAD STEPPED IN SOMETHING AND WE COULDNT WORK OUT WHERE THE SMELL WAD COMING FROM AND THEN I REALISED

5.0 out of 5 stars You would pay double the price to keep this amount of fly’s out of you house !

The good: This product deserves five stars because it serves its purpose VERY effectively. No complaints there.

The not-good: I struggled with not giving the product 2 or 3 stars purely because of the odor. The fly-attracting solution smells like the public toilet at a national park/campground. I had intended to place these indoors to deal with the summertime flies but the odor is overpowering and unbearable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for those with an intact sense of smell

If you need to catch flies this works- my goodness I feel like it attracted flies from all over because I’ve never seen so many before. I have decided not to use the second one for a little while because I feel like I was attracting more flies than I would normally get. Once inside the flies definitely cannot get out but after a while I noticed a foul smell in my garden thinking an animal had done a poo- it was very strong. I later realised it was the dead flies mixed with the solution that was creating the smell.

Product does work, however not keen on using again due to the smell unless I really need to.

Hanging outside my house back and front.
They are full of flys and they do smell if you get close. I can’t say they’ve reduced flys completely in my house as I have windows and doors open a lot but just have helped which is what I kinda wanted. Might look into something for in doors too next year. iv not dared put them to close incase of smell. They do work at catching them though. Will get some again next year early o

Saw other reviews and seen photos of the bottle half full with flies so I ordered and once I got it, we had a day or two of rain so I had to keep it in the house, until the sun was back out to activate the solution.
Well as it was in the house, 1 mini fly got into the solution which was a good sign…
I hung it out in the sun and it has started to really do it’s job… Another rainy day today and it seems ok outside, it’s not over filling with water, still the same amount with added flies from previous days. I will attach a photo of the results so far. Probably had a week and half the week has been raining but in the sun and generally dry days it works well.

See mini video… It’s also raining today.

All in all a great fly trap… It even had a spider in there, I’m not sure if it escaped but It was in there a while.

Get one these they are great. The only downside is the smell apparently, I haven’t noticed much of a smell so far but it apparently smells like faeces which is basically what most flies are attracted to.

5.0 out of 5 stars It simply works.

Bought this to try and eliminate flies in the house. It did the opposite. The smell is like old drains and took a couple of days to work out what it was. Opened the window to remove the smell and loads of flies attracted to it.

Sat it outside for 2 days and the result is above!!. However we have had fewer flies in the house!

The instructions that came with this were minimal and I had to get back to the supplier to explain how to set it up.
Now that it’s filled with the bait and water it’s really good at catching flies. So I’m now wondering when, how and where to empty it.
But I now notice the the product description on Amazon mentions “reusable bait”. Again, there’s not a word anywhere about how to do this. How many times can it be re-used? And when more bait is needed how and where to get it?

Like what it does , concern was bees or wasps could be attracted , not one or hornets which we have now, know people don’t like wasps but they pollinate like bees , but seeing the buildup of flys bluebottles hate seeing them fluttering about in container they part of food chain , is very efficient but does smell acrid

I bought these, hoping that it
would stop the flies in the house. We seem to have more in the house this year. The traps have been hung outside the patio doors and kitchen window. Whilst there are some flies in the traps and slightly fewer in the house it hasn’t totally cured the fly problem. Not sure if I would buy again.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe bought this product to trap flies that came into the lounge. We had it inside for around a week, and nothing went in there. Then the wife started complaining about the smell, and yes as the days went on it smelt more and more like faeces.

We then put it outside the back door on the window sill, and well, you can see the results 8n the picture! After a few days it was half as full as shown in the picture. The picture shows results after a week of being outside. Yes, it does still smell horrible, but has done an amazing job of attracting and trapping flies. We have it situated in a spot to limit the amount of flies coming in the house and it is doing a pretty good job.

I don’t rate it for indoor use though and if we have people coming round, will be sure to move it out of site, for the smell!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for outdoors

  15. Anonymous says:

We wanted something for indoors and the packaging (and smell) indicates that this is only for outdoors. I guess we were unlucky that we put this up at the start of a cold and windy week so nothing took the bait. Today it is 25 degrees plus and they have started to swarm in. I was sceptical and am still annoyed that this isn’t for indoors but I have to concede that it does work when the conditions are right!

4.0 out of 5 stars Outdoor only! (Amazon title has been changed)

I put it out in my conservatory to some flys entering my house.. No sign of any flys interested.. just fly past ..
Wife complaining about the smell from is as it gets hot in there. so moved it outside ..So now seeing a few flys in the trap. but others still going past and coming into home …Time will tell if it was worth it over the old sticky tape fly traps..

The best fly/wasp catchers we have ever used. Within 15 minutes of setting this up and putting it on our garden wall we had caught at least 10 flies and a couple of wasps. This works well as there are flies and even a wasp currently inside the containers but unfortunately the smell from the liquid you put inside is vile. I can barely stand to be around it. I do have these set up inside a shed with pets so maybe this would be better used in a larger space or just outside.

I’ve only had this one up for about a week, and I think I’ve got flies coming from all over Europe to try and get in!! They seem to love it.
The only problem has been the smell. In this hot weather, the decaying bodies really do give off a stench if you get too close!
Don’t hang it too close to your house, you’ll regret it.
Ours is hung about 5 metres from the house. Although we still get the odd fly inside, it’s nowhere near as many as before we hung the trap.

Absolutely stinks apparently and the bulging red eyes of drowning flies could give you nightmares for weeks if you are a sensitive soul but a fly free bbq and gazebo seems worth it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo like others, I had 3-4 flies find their way into my home every day.

I bought this to put at the opposite end of the garden. The first day it caught 1 fly, but after that I started worrying. It easily had 1-200 flies in it, and they just kept coming. It’s been there for a week now, and it’s completely full and overflowing. Flies are now just hanging around the outside and buzzing around the garden. The dead flies inside have now started releasing maggots inside.

I’m confident it is attacting way more flies to the garden than ever before, which I’m not sure is a good thing. Maybe I shouldn’t have used a whole packet! Either way, I would suggest this for large gardens, and keep it as far away from the house as possible!

Boy was I wrong!!! The next day, I took this photo. I am soo pleased and happy and hope I’ve made a very small dent in the fly population. They say for each human = 3 billion flies in the world. Such a happy buyer I need more liquid!!!! Be aware, this gives off a nasty smelling pong so strictly outdoor usage only!!

    OMG best purchase this century!

This fly trap has worked very well for about the last four weeks. It took a week to be effective and then it really stunk. I tried using it indoors in the porch and it was just unbearable. So it’s outside in the log store beside the front door and you still just get out nasty whiff as you pass it. It smells like animal urine quite pungent.
But it does what it says on the tin – attracts the flies and they can’t get out and they drown.
I find it more effective than the red top bag ones that we have tried in previous years. This could be due to the fact we have had such hot weather so the bait is really fermented well.
You get two sachets of bait for each bottle but I guess if you could just get the sachets you could keep using the same bottles.
They are not cheap but they do a good job of keeping the fly population down for quite a few weeks.

Bought due to frequent heatwaves and the fact we’ve had to put rat poison down so knew there would be a fly problem. Went away for a week and when we came back it was full to the brim. Full of flies and maggots. It continues to be very popular with the flies like a busy nightclub, and they are definitely unable to escape. We hung the second bottle yesterday and it’s already 1/4 full. Will definitely be buying more as it stops the flies annoying us while we’re sat in the garden.

    Very effective

Super effective. We were having a lot of flies, and so I bought this.
Only used one, and put it outdoors.
It says to put it in an area with sun but low wind, and that it takes up to a day to activate.
As you can see, it is very effective. That’s from just under 2 days of it being up.

It doesn’t smell great, the powder itself smells like dog biscuits, so kind of bad. And now that there are flies in it, it smells a bit like dog poo, but not as bad, and only if you really get close to it or it manages to carry on the wind. I wouldn’t put it too close to your house for that reason.
But it does say it attracts flies from 50m away.
It’s not something I’d put up all the time, but certainly on the hotter weeks of the year.
Comes in a two pack, and I might give that to a friend since one works well enough for us.

Also caught a few wasps, so double win in my book.

    Super effective

  51. What Hi-Fi? says:

     United Kingdom

Oh my god!!! This has to be the best thing I have probably purchased in the last decade! I have never known a fly trap to be so effective. Seriously, whatever concoction makes up the liquid contents inside this packet has caught more flys in just one week then Boris Johnson has bent the truth the whole time he was in office. I don’t even know where they have all come from? I genuinely have never seen so many. They seem to migrate en-masse from my entire surrounding neighbourhood.

The actual product itself is ludicrously simple to install and use. It’s essentially a cheap plastic bottle with a unique top whereby the fly goes in, but can’t get back out again. It invariably falls into the liquid and dies. Those that don’t hit the water must be overcome by the fumes as they die within hours too. I placed these out by my rear doors and I kid you not, both were full to the brim in less than a week! The only negative to the whole thing is you need to empty the dead buggers out which is a little unpleasant but not a major drama in reality. I simply dump their dead carcasses in a plastic bag and lob it in the bin. A quick rinse of the container and refill it again. The liquid does have a strong smell to it and after a week baking dead flies in the hot sun it can hum a bit, but for attracting flies and stopping them invade my kitchen and other living spaces, there simply isn’t anything more effective out there. For a tenner too it’s a complete no brainier. Refills are just over half the cost of the initial units and as cleaning out isn’t too tricky a job refilling it back takes literally a few minutes.

Absolutely nothing to dislike about this product at all. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone and everyone. If I could award a sixth star here I would. Genius product and worth every penny and then some. Don’t wait, don’t think about it any longer, just get it! Awesome.

Simply the most effective fly catcher ever produced!

This is wiffy…so you need to keep it away from your doors and window s and where you sit outside. But then it’s intended to attract flies…so what should we expect. It works well and is effective within hours, but the volume is so small that within a week or two it is starting to fill up. Maybe it’s good for reducing flies a week or two before a family bbq, but it’s not up to reducing numbers any longer than that. Maybe one of the big bag ones is better if that’s what you need

  54. BenedicHurt says:

     United Kingdom

These are easy enough to set up, although oddly the instructions tell you to add more water than this will actually hold, but ignoring that this takes moments to set up and a bit of sun and you are off. I don’t think that these are as effective as others I’ve used, I’ve seen many flies fly right on by and some even stop for a rest really close to it and then decide to keep going but this has caught some flies, so it does do something, just not enough. They look pretty gross too and once the flies have been in there a while this starts to stink.

This is great for enticing flies and wasps as long as it’s left in direct sunlight. These fly traps come as a pack of 2. To set up, you unscrew the lid off one of the jars, empty the foil sachet and add cold water up to the fill line. Screw the lid back on and hang somewhere away from the house. It does have quite a smell to it, which obviously attracts the flies as within just a day there are a number of casualties in there. If the water level gets low you can top it up. These are very effective and I would recommend.

I literally have a couple of rogue flys, who fought very hard against the welcoming stench of these catchers and came to my kitchen for a short lived fly by.

These hold so many flys and is actually quite disgusting to look at but rather that than the constant swatting you do when flys are inside!

I got these two fly killer bottles to give to my local club that has been plagued by flies outside.
The bottles themselves are quite large. They come empty and you add water plus the contents of the silver sachet. Then you hang them up away from doors and windows and wait for the flies to be attracted to the bottles.
You’ll be surprised at how many flies end up in the bottles in fact it’s bordering on awful. It’s better to look at the bottle though than have hundreds of flies swarming about.
I think this is excellent value for money product that actually works. I’d buy more for my club for sure.

We are now using the second one and will be buying more!!!! The flies as you can see in the video go straight to it. A word of warning it absolutely stinks so put it as far away as you possibly can. Simply add water and the little sashay and it’s ready to go and so effective. Would of been 5 starts but for the smell. It’s also really good as bees stay away from it.
We will be buying these agai

This is a great product and does the job very, disgustingly, well. A few pointers – as the instructions say it does take 24 hours to get going and does seem to work better in the sun. Don’t put it too close to any house openings as it is designed to attract flies, some of which then fly indoors. It stinks as it gets going, and fills up, so another reason to put it futher from the house. After 10 days I emptied it into a local field. I didn’t refill the bottle as the seem flies to have all but gone. I would suggest leaving it 24 hours after emptying to see if you still need it up or not otherwise you will just attract all the local flies!

I’ve first tried one of these a month ago, at first i thought it was expensive for what it was and i never heard about these before, i come from the time where an electric light would kill off flies.

First of all you get two of these in the pack, which is great, you also get everything you need for it to work and as far as i can tell, they are both reusable. You get two of these traps, plus a sachet of fly bait and a string to hang them.

I have to say, these work wonders! super easy to setup, just empty the sachet and fill the container with 500ml of water, which is around half of the container.

Once setup, it does take a while to activate, so don’t expect immediate results, however after it does activate around 24 hours or so, wow does it work!

It’s amazing how well it works, it catches so many flies in it’s amazing, i’m not going to post any pictures of the results as it’s really gross, however let me just say, the whole container is practically full of dead flies.

Certainly works wonders and worth every penny.

One downside of it though, is the smell, it doesn’t smell great to begin with, add a few dead flies in the hot sun for a week and you can only imagine…

Other than that, i highly recommend it, super effective!

    It Works Well

My traps are absolutely full of flies within a day or two. Works way better than I expected. The smell is very off-putting, so I would recommend to have it away from where you usually sit/put it outside.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have an outdoor tortoise enclosure so as you can imagine I get all kinds of insects. Some get eaten if caught but the flies they come in huge numbers.
I have put both of these catchers outside one at each end of the enclosure and with in a day or 2 I can see the huge improvement they have made and how many have been caught inside.
They’re brilliant at the task I need them for and are not harmful to my dogs or torts so it’s a win win for me

I set up the traps as per the instructions and 24 hrs later they started to do their thing.
I can’t believe the amount of flies that these traps are catching! I do hate to see the flies once they’re inside though, maybe a cover of some kind would be helpful if you’re slightly squeamish like me.

One of the best purchases I've ever made!

Filled with layers of flys within 36 hours. Gross to look at but did it’s job well. I can’t think of anything that would have been more effective. Recommend not hanging near your house as some flys will come in through windows as they’re attracted by the smell of the liquid. Liquid isn’t too bad for humans, but I have a sensitive sense of smell and I could smell it, another reason to hang a bit further from your house!

So far I have put out 12 of these fly traps around our property and they have been catching more flys than our other fly traps we bought last year.

The sachets of fly attracting power that come with these packs is greater than that supplied with some of the other manufacturers, which I can’t help but think makes these fly traps more affective at attracting flys and wasps.

My only question is how do I buy refill sachets of the powder? I can’t seem to find them for sale anywhere.

I found this product just what I needed to keep flies out, my hubby turns into the Hulk if a fly comes in, so this is just perfect. The secret is to keep it in a sunny position so that the smell develops and they can’t keep away. It does get a bit smelly as it fills up with flies but this is a small price for not having a house full of flies. Easy to use just fill with water and wait two to three days and result. The item was delivered a couple of days after placing the order, very prompt will use this seller agai

Living near a farm and having bins very close to our front door we get a ridiculous amount of flies every year coming inside the house. This product has reduced that number by more than half. I have only had it up a week and it’s already half full

Absolutely amazing at catching flies, wasps and insects. We have it hanging from our patio back door handle and within hours of it being there it had attracted lots of flies. The liquid inside the bottle smells like dog poo but really does the job! Would definitely recommend.

Wanted to keep flies out of our kitchen, so hung this up next to the back door and was amazed at how attractive it was to the fly community! (Check out my video) I was fascinated.
Problem is it doesn’t just attract the flies buzzing around the kitchen, it attracts any passing fly from up to 10 meters away, plus it smells bad if you have it too close! Stinks like a new born baby nappy when that baby is unwellyuk, I normally held my nose when getting too close on a hot day! Our arrived in time for the 39 degree heatwave in England when the flies were at their most active, so the pot filled up within just 4 days!! Crazy.
It does take 24 hours to begin working for some reason, can’t remember why. But highly recommended, the spider population won’t be happy if too many people have these in their garden taking in all the fliesif the spiders are smart they’ll web up next to the hanging pot.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersNot sure who made the error but here goes!

The product description and “How To Use” leaflet in the container tells you to empty the sachet into the container and add 1.5 litres of water. The capacity of the container is actually near full at only 1.0 litres!

You will need to use only 0.75 litre in EACH container; this is to allow for the added bulk density of the flies which will fall into it; if you use 1.0 litre the thing will overflow once flies build up inside.

Not sure why nobody has mentioned this in earlier reviews of this product.

It’s simple to set up and most definitely works.
Make sure in sunlight away from windows or doors . I say this cos it stinks!
It attracts so many flys see pic after 5 days but it’s helped the house so much.
We seem to always get swamped with flys but this year I am prepared and we have the odd one two now and again that sneak in .

This is definitely working to catch flies and reducing the number that end up in my kitchen but it’s not at all pleasant to look at – wish there was a cover to hide the outside of it so you can’t see the flies slowly drowning! Haven’t noticed any kind of smell which is good.

Works but it’s not pretty to look a

An awesome product. Purchased to catch the odd fly that came into the house but seems to attract all flies from a ten mile radius. Packaging states it attracts flies from 50-100 meters away. So the odd fly we had has now turned in a bloody swarm around the catcher. Had to move it to the end of the garden.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese are great at catching flys, the bait really attracts them but after a few days they absolutely stink like rotten eggs. We have them hung around our bins as they are right under our kitchen window and are trying to stop as many flys coming in the house and if the wind blows the smell in the house its vile but they do catch loads of flys so they definitely do work

Gets to work really quickly. I accidentally dropped some of the baited water on the patio, was swarmed in flies in minutes!
It has really taken down the amount of flies around our veggies and chicken coop, which in turned stopped them swarming into the house.

Good size on the collection bottle and reusable is always a bonus.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve been using fly traps every year for the past 3 to 4 years I’ve never been able to find a reusable one until now and these two bottles at a price point of 9.50 work in the same way except the bottles of rigid and not plastic bags brilliant.
Instructions are fantastic you get a nice page inside one of the bottles and obviously you have the string for hanging and the compound for mixing with a half LTR of water however the string hanging isn’t the best you’re relying on the plastic end of the tie ( I tired a knot to ensure it didn’t fall )to hold.
I didn’t get a lot of flies untill the warm weather hit and bingo bug city fantastic.

    Reusable

These are two simple screw topped plastic bottles that have an ingenious lid that allows flies in but makes it a little more difficult for them to get out. You get sachets of fly attractant and string to hang them up.

The powder needs to be mixed with half a bottle of water. It takes a few days before it starts to attract flies proper, but once it gets going it gets more and more effective. Flies eventually drown, causing more of a smell that attracts more and so on. Kept topped up with water you can (I didn’t include a picture) end up with the whole bottle full of dead flies. The only bad thing is then having to empty them out.

Only seems to attract bigger flies like bluebottles. Smaller ones seem to be just as prevalent.

Does end up smelling quite rank with the dead flies, so how much you can stomach this dictates how long the sachets will last. One I forgot about has been working effectively for 4 weeks before it filled up.

EDIT : I finally cleaned one out and left a little “fly juice” in the bottom. It started to fill up again, so dead flies seem to attract more flies. You may not need buy more attractant, although the official bait doesn’t smell so much!

Super effective - given a little time.
