Put it together in a few minutes and took to it straight away. Now use a lot to keep active whilst working from home. Very quiet, smooth motion, great difference in resistance levels to suit all needs from gentle recovery to training.
Some people may find it heavy and awkward to carry around the home and do play around with your chair height so that it doesn’t hurt your knees.
It’s very robust so almost justifies the price if you’re looking for something long term to use
When it arrived it was very easy to put together and came with its own screwdriver and little feet to put the wheels of your office chair on so you don’t move while you’re using it.
Admittedly it is pretty heavy but that is a plus for me as it means the machine stays put while in use.
The resistance levels are fine for me as I’m just using it casually while working from home to help manage my lymphoedema. It’s quiet enough that I can use it while I’m in meetings on the lower settings.
Good price, does what is expected and feels solid/good quality. Wish I’d bought it ages ago!
I love this machine so easy to set up and use
Just received this Cubii so am only on level one. Easy to use while watching tv! Sure it will help with strengthening my legs enabling me to walk better. Glad I bought it.
This is great and easy to use. I wanted something that didn’t take much space and that could be used anytime.
I am very happy with it.
I think this was a great buy really easy to use and smooth 100% recommend
I had a knee replacement. I just wished I had the cubii right away it would have helped me heal faster and bette
much to heavy for me to move around. i have a bad back but legs
Only one thing wrong with this piece of equipment. It is very heavy to lift/move.
It was purchased for my aunt, (a little older), who has a small place and needs to move the cubi about once a week to and from another spot in the room. She struggles, I struggle, but it is so sturdy when being used the struggle, most of the time, is worth it.
This is overall a great piece of kit.
Feel it working and it is so easy to use at any time of the day I highly recommend it for all ages
Der Cubii Elibsentrainer ist zum trainieren optimal, er ist durch sein Gewicht und Bauform standfest und laut Beschreibung an jedem Ort zum Einsatz bringen, bin sehr zufrieden!
I work from home permanently, and find that I don’t move as much as I used to when I worked in an office, so decided to treat myself to Cubii Jr during the Black Friday sale. The machine is absolutely brilliant. Of course, it doesn’t have as much resistance as a full-sized elliptical, so don’t expect a heart-pounding workout, but it will at least keep you moving a bit whilst sat for long periods of time. It’s also very sturdily built, easy to assemble, and quiet, so I don’t disturb anyone else whilst I’m peddling.
If I had to list negatives, they’d be the weight (this thing is hefty) and the fact that the display doesn’t have a backlight, so I can’t really read it under my desk.
All-in-all though, it’s a brilliant little machine.
First, I want to admit I didn’t get mine from Amazon, I got it from a certain High St place on TV (couldn’t sleep due to hip issues and was watching infomercials).
So, the reason I got it was for circulation and hip issues. It’s one of those chicken and egg things – can’t exercise because of the hip, need to exercise to improve the hip.
The Cubii junior (I have the blue one) is like using a recumbent bike for me. I have a nice comfy chair from my dining table and I move the Cubii into place every day and I work out for 45-60 minutes at a good pace. It raises my heart rate, makes me sweat and yet I am not in agony afterwards like I often am after walking or spinning.
It doesn’t take up much room so that’s a plus too as my house is small and it’s easy to wipe off.
Assembly was super easy – literally out in 4 screws to attach the pedals with the screw driver they provided and it’s done.
The only negative I could see for some people is the weight of this thing to move. I’d say it’s about 30 lbs, or around 15 kgs. There’s a handle in the middle but I have to use that and the stand at the front to carry this in a way that’s less likely to cause injury to me. Some people would definitely struggle to move this.
The other negative for me (because my house is tiny) is that this won’t fit under my desk, but I knew it his before I bought it. Check the measurements carefully because you need enough room to use it.
As I said, I didn’t get this on here but got it as a nearly new model elsewhere which saved me 60%, but it’s worth it at full price honestly.
My hip is not 100% better by any means, but the improvement in just a couple of weeks is fantastic.
Perfect – helps me get more steps than ever and comfortable and quiet to use
I purchased the Cubbi because I have mobility problems.
The item was soon assembled by my son and I tried it out to asses ease of use, which turned out to be fine although it is quite heavy and this might be disadvantageous to some. Over the next few days I used the item and managed 3000 steps.(it measures No of steps, the time taken, the distance covered and the No calories consumed. I found it eased the discomfort in my hips when I walk so for me it is worth the cost.
I like this product is that it’s easy to use, although a little heavy to move about, this is no good for the people who suffer from lifting heavy items.
The device can switch between miles and kilometers display by holding down the silver button for approximately 6 seconds (it will reset the counts at 4 seconds, but keep holding it for another 2 and then it will reset again). While in the distance display mode (you switch between modes by pressing and then quickly releasing the silver button), there will be either a “K” above the STRD arrow, or an “M” below it. A stride (which is what STRD stands for), is approximately 0.0001923 miles (every 52 strides is 0.01 miles) or 0.00031 kilometers (every 32.25 strides is 0.01 kilometers). Since the stride count rolls over after 9999, you’ll need to use the distance measurement if you want to track longer sessions.
I’ve only owned the device for a day now, so I can’t speak to it’s longevity, but I’ve enjoyed the over 10k strides on it so far. It’s been relatively quiet (although it does squeak from time to time), and it only raised my knees approximately 6 inches, so it fit under my desk without issues.
I have Raynaud’s disease and so when I’m at the computer for hours at a time not moving, my feet tend to get quite cold and go numb. This elliptical allows me to keep in motion even when seated, keeping my blood moving, and warming me up. Usually I spend part of the day on the verge of shivering, but the movement this provides, even on a low resistance setting, actually made me sweat a bit, which is unheard of for me.
Finally, although the manufacturer had stated that it was not for use standing up, I had hoped that that recommendation was based on difficulty balancing without hand-holds and/or weight limitations, and not based on the design of the device (some competing products claim to support both seated or standing). However, the slant of the pedals basically prevents this from being used standing up, so if you (like me) had hoped it could pull double-duty as a standing elliptical, you’re out of luck. This isn’t a problem since the manufacturer never claimed to support this functionality, but I had hoped nonetheless.
Larger than expected. Therefore, I keep it in one place. I can use it when I’m watching TV,on the phone or just relaxing. It has different settings. I have found a way how to link it up to my fitbit. As my device in on my non prominent hand,( my is my left) I place this hand on either kneen. Usually, my left and that will pick up the signals and data for the number of steps and calories for daily usage. I discovered this by pure chance. Even though the machine is a bit heavy it does need a mat as it does slip and it will drive you mad if you don’t get a none slip one. The only down side is the steps and calories data once the machine has reached the given number, it will automatically start from the beginning again. However, you an hop on and off it anytime day and night and it will continue from your last workout. You can do as little or as much as you want. There are no wires it is all manual work. The levels go up very gradually, now I’m on level 3. It’s is a bit harder than the 1st one. Over all it’s a great product and it’s amazing how quickly one can rank up the data.
So full disclosure .. I bought mine ‘used’ for 67. When I say used, I doubt it ever actually was. It’s in perfect as-new condition. I only say this so you know mine is the same as yours.
I bought this because I’ve worked from home for 15 years, often spending between 12-18hours a day in front of a computer. So I wasn’t after something to get me fit or strengthen my legs . . that would be somewhat optimistic. But I simply wanted something that provided me a degree of movement without excessive wear and tear on my joints, while I’m working, without banging my knees. For that, its fine.
I thought it would be hard to pedal and work at the same time but it quickly becomes automatic. The only difficulty was getting the position correct as my desk is against a wall and my chair squashed between the desk and a bookshelf behind me. The two stoppers for the chair work a treat but having long legs (I’m 6’1″ ) I can’t put the cubii far enough away and so my heel raises up with every rotation. This doesn’t feel right
So far it runs smoothly and quietly ( unless I run it backwards in which case it squeeks loudly ) and I can’t fault it. Time will tell whether its reliable.
The 1-8 resistance values are somewhat useless. Adding another 2 points would give it just enough extra options given the first 5 feel like they have no effect at all.
I can’t comment on the LCD display other than its there and works. Its so far under my desk I can’t see it, its small and unlit.
But 189 is way too much. There’s obviously been a degree of aesthetic design gone into it and its relatively unique low profile works in its favour. But considering what 189 can get you else where .. no .. but get it for half price or just over a third as I did and it would be reasonable.
Well made, sturdy product quickly and efficiently delivered.
Use of it has begun to strengthen my ageing (75yr) knees and leg muscles whilst I sit and watch tv.
Really good product. Great to use while watching TV. Variation of resistance is a good feature. Good value for money.
I work from home and am far more sedentary than before so this under my work desk is great. I don’t use it constantly, hard to use when typing but it is very comfortable to stop with feet in place and start again as soon as I want. Have already recommended it to two people. It is very solid and quiet in use
Only need to attach the two foot plates using two screws each. Screwdriver was also provided. Have placed under my desk to use while working. Just set tension to 2 and happily pedal away for most of the day. Wishing I had bought this a year ago…
Found this easy to use helps to incorporate exercise and movement while working at my desk .
Very happy with the Cobii other than it being extremely heavy it does what is says on the box.
Very well built machine, easy to put together. I’m disabled and although I can only manage about 100 revolutions in one session, I feel I will be able to increase this as my legs become stronger and more accustomed to the action needed.
The Cubii arrived yesterday and after assembly (5 minutes) of the footpads I had a 3 minute workout.
First mention is it’s ease of use. I like the weight as this prevents instability (no wobbling) as you exercise.
Today I used it longer (6 minutes) try to get into a rhythm as you pedal and watch your breathing, already I feel a difference in my leg muscles, circulation and easier walking. For me The Cubii is a good purchase.
Easy to use &easy to assemble,it makes a differents to my legs
bought this for my 90 year old mum to exercise in lockdown and it has improved her stability when she walks and stopped her ankles swelling from sitting too long
would consider getting one for me
Love this so easy to use. My mum and my sons mother in law both got one after trying mine. It a very strong sturdy piece of equipment. It’s so smooth to use doesn’t hurt your joints.
It’s really great, sturdy and quiet! No one knows i’m peddling away in online meetings! i’ve also lost weight and toned up!
Very easy to use maybe to easy, no problem to assemble it and extremely sturdy.
Price maybe a little high.
I’m mid 40s and bought this as I sit at a desk all day and don’t move even for lunch. Wanted something to keep my blood circulating and poss burn a few calories at the same time. There are 8 levels and I use on level 3 or 4. I could use it higher but l like to do lots of strides and fast rather than have a lot of resistance. Im 5ft 10 with long legs and can still use this under my works desk no problems.
It isn’t blue tooth so I enter my usage into the ap you can download. The app has a more up to date way of working out distance and calories so it is slightly different to the machines. No biggy though. All in all its fab..its solid, it doesn’t slip on my works carpet, I do use the chair anti slide coaster and they work very well. It is VERY quiet. Id say silent. And, it is easy to move and carry ( hold the handle and other hand under a foot) but I wouldnt want to carry it more than 100 steps and 3 flights of stairs lol.
Would I buy again. YES.
Do I have any complaints . NO
This was very easy to assemble. Took only a few minutes. I placed it under my desk at my home office where I work several hours a day. I used a kitchen rug under it more to protect the vinyl floor than to keep the Cubii from moving. This thing is heavy and isn’t going anywhere. I like the ‘pads’ that are included that go under the wheels of office chairs which keeps the chair from rolling around while pedaling. Once I got the positioning of the chair right, I was off and running – or pedaling as the case may be. I was amazed at how very quiet this is.
I started on level 1, did that for two weeks, then moved to level 2 for two weeks, and so on. Whenever I felt the tension was starting to get easy I moved up a level. I’m now at level 5. I really feel a difference in the strength and firmness of my muscles in my legs, butt and hips. And if I was sitting up straight (I’m a sloucher) I’d probably feel it in my abs too. And the best thing for me, I have absolutely no back or hip pain from using the Cubii. I find using it not only effortless but mindless which means I’m pedaling without even thinking about it. So on a busy computer day I might get as many as 6,000 steps in (about an hour total).
For those that have reviewed this and said it’s not really exercise, I disagree. This may not be aerobic exercise (unless you’re pedaling really fast) but it’s not meant to be. It’s meant for people like me who need to ease back into exercise and strengthen muscles we haven’t used in a long time so we can get up and do other things. And I definitely know it’s working my muscles and burning some calories. Since I started using my Cubii about two and a half months ago, I’ve lost 15 lbs. Disclaimer… I’ve also started eating better at the same time which also helped some. When I don’t have to concentrate on my work, I have some 1 lb hand weights that I use while pedaling to get some upper body movement and exercise. And at some point, I’m going to try some of the online videos for Cubii exercises that are more aerobic.
Overall, I LOVE my Cubii. I have used it every single day since I set it up and I know I will continue to use it every day because its so easy and it makes me feel good about life again.
——original review——-
A recent special brought the price below $200 for a short moment (thanks to Woot) but I missed that and ended up buying an open box item instead. That really has nothing to do with the cubii other than that some of the issue may be related to that.
Assembly is easy as the only tool needed is the included philips screwdriver. Of course, the total of four screws isn’t exactly much of an assembly effort to tighten the pedals to the arms. That’s pretty much it and it’s ready to go. Btw., there are two coasters included that are tucked away in the foam and you may miss. They are for “parking” the wheel of an office chair with rollers, although the number two is curious as most chairs have five wheels and a single one may reduce the tendency to roll, but also makes it unstable.
So, sitting down and enjoying the “whisper quiet” operation. Of course, that’s marketing lingo and I wasn’t really expecting it to be noiseless, but it turned out to be surprisingly louder than expected. And that’s a kind of growling/rolling noise coming from the break mechanism, I assume. it’s the exact same noise going forward or back. It’s not a deal break, but not as quiet as I made myself belief.
Considering the price tag, the cubii is on the upper end even in the Jr edition. $250 buys you an elliptical trainer with a basic counter for steps and calories. Frankly, it’s under my desk and really hard to see the display, so it more that I know it’s there, but not frequently used. The Pro version gives you smartphone connectivity, and that’s technically worth the additional $100, but the resulting $350 were too much for my taste since we’re already on a fairly high price level.
Anyway, take a look at the advertisement picture and you’ll notice that all models are very happy. Now, this isn’t a torture machine, but don’t expect such outburst happiness in real use. I hope I’ll be that happy when the scale is nicer to me in a month or two. For now it’s more like, I paid $200 and I better be happy using it.
The built-in handle is good for mobility, but the weight is a deterrent to keep moving it around. However, that’s just the nature of the beast since the weight helps it to stay planted. On office carpet it does so reasonably well, but once or twice a day needs to be reigned in as it’s migrating a bit.
As for the described coasters, I opted for not using them as the chair teeters when two wheels are raised. However, it turns out that an anti-fatique mat works just fine to keep the chain in place. It is a bit cumbersome to get in and out, but beyond that it’s fine. If you’re on hardwood or similar surfaces, you may consider locking the wheels up or use a different chair.
Very expensive but also very good. This is an awesome elliptical machine. I love it. Truly first rate and high quality.
Very very quiet which is important as I use mine while watching television.
I bought this:
1. For its sturdiness. It’s never taking your full weight.
2. Not really for fitness, but for ankle / foot flexibility.
The best way, I’ve found of using it is:
1. A 5 minute burst every half an hour.
Or,
2. Use it like a footrest and then pedal whenever you feel like it.
My only gripe is that it tends to move about a bit.
A lot easier to use in stockings and feet, rather than shoes/trainers.
Excellent trainer, substantial and well built with a nice elliptical action that is easy on the joints – it was purchased to help with recovery following total knee replacement surgery. It’s quite heavy but that helps immensely with stability, as it stays put without wobbling around the place like the much cheaper devices. There’s a small amount of assembly required, basically attaching the foot pedals, but everything is supplied, even a screwdriver. Highly recommended.
No knees banged on desk, no straps for feet and no shoes necessary. Just keep it under your desk and when you feel like exercise, just do it ! – no preparation necessary.
Easy to assemble. Great value. What more could you ask for?
Highly recommended.
Also very quiet and the clever pads stop chair from rolling away! Felt my leg muscles after 15 mins workout without concentrating!! Easy to assemble and although it is heavy, the handle makes it easy to lift and move into place.
All in all a great and very useful gadget.
I ordered a used/returned product as I’ve previously had good success going that route to save some significant money and the difference was close to $100 this time. It was described as “used – very good condition” with the notes suggesting that there may be minor scuffs and the packaging may be damaged.
Yes the packaging was damaged, but not bad. When I opened it, however, I found most of the internal packaging was missing and the unit was just tossed back into the box with little care (e.g. the plastic bag it obviously came in was in the box, but the unit was just on top of it). The pedals had been removed and I quickly found that the screws that hold them on are missing. After checking the user guide I found that a screw driver and chair wheel stops are also missing.
There was no info in the printed or online docs about the sizes of the screws so I called Cubii to ask about the size so I could source some (took my chances, not their fault). The woman I spoke with did get the info for me, but also insisted that I let them priority mail me the missing parts! I told her she really didn’t need to as it’s not their responsibility, but she kept insisting.
So I can’t speak much to the unit yet, but Cubii themselves get a high vote in my opinion.
What I can say so far about the unit is:
1) Wheel locks or (hopefully) their wheel stops are a MUST on surfaces where your chair rolls easily.
2) Hopefully not a common issue for anyone, but the pedals actually stay in place pretty well even without the screws (every now and then one will flop if my foot works it’s way to the outer side).
3) Given how poorly packed it was coming to me (and I assume going to the return center) the unit is in good condition and appears to work flawlessly. This suggests that it really does have the quality and robustness that they advertise.
Edit:
I’ve been using it for a bit now so I can speak a bit more about it.
First up is that the care package from Cubii didn’t arrive nearly as quick as promised, but it did arrive which is still super nice of them.
Next up is that I tried replacing the wheels on my chair with some of those roller blade style wheels. Unfortunately they only have one lock so it helped hold me in place a bit better, but not enough. The Cubii care package included the wheel stops which definitely hold me in place, but getting the chair on and off them is kind of a pain which is impacting using the sit/stand functionality of my desk as regularly.
As others have said, the motion is pretty smooth. I’ve been on the lowest resistance and have had no issue pedaling away most of the day. I haven’t really noticed any effect from it though. I bumped it to the second setting today and while I’ve still kept it spinning most of the day I am feeling it some. Out of a 9 hour day I’d say I have it spinning 5 or more.
I have noticed two (good) side effects from using it:
1) I fidget (a lot) and I am finding that I fidget far less while I am actively pedaling.
2) While I’m not noticing any great changes from using it, it is warming me up enough that I don’t need my space heater.
Overall I’m not expecting some great weight loss as others have claimed, but I’m happy that I’m finding I am actually using it and it’s had some helpful side effects.
You will get a simple workout with this product, don’t expect to burn hundreds of calories though! I work-out regularly but sit most of the day so I was looking for something that allowed me to move around more but still allowed me to work, this product does that. It’s just an added way to get in just a little bit of extra movement.
I think this is a great elliptical but do your research before purchasing. The price is steep so make sure you’ll use it on a regular basis as it’s really too heavy move all over the place, too expensive to not use and too big to lay around somewhere without getting in the way. I hope this information is useful to someone!
