Bought this for an elderly aunt who has recently decided to go into a Care Home and wont have a landline for her to use. This is a nice handset which is just like the landline handset she was used to.. but tyakes a Sim-card just like a Mobile… got her fixed up with an Asda 4 monthly Sim which has unlimited calls and texts but no data and seems to be just what she needs. Navigating the phone is not as self evident as we would have liked and she does struggle with it at times but it will do the job until we can find something that fits the bill.
I’ve been using this phone daily for about seven months and find it’s perfect for everyday use if you don’t have or want a smart phone. It’s easy to use and doesn’t have any big buttons, so works for any age group – not just seniors. Just like a cordless phone it sits neatly in a cradle, and is lightweight and slim enough to slip down the back of a sunglasses pouch. I use it like one would use a landline – in my office/studio (okay, box room!) and take it out every day in my bag in case the car breaks down or some other emergency. It doesn’t need switching off – just lock it with the bottom left button and unlock it before putting it back in its cradle. The sound is clear, text messages and missed calls etc. arrive with a little notification in the top left corner, so you don’t need to dig around to see if you’ve missed anything.
Texting is much easier than it used to be on these phones so a keypad isn’t necessary and with a 1p mobile PAYG plan it’s a great little phone that doesn’t want to take over your life.
Works like a mobile but has that old “non touch” screen so feels like a landline. Plus with the charging dock it’s a really good replacement as they’re slowly trying to get rid of “analog” land lines
i bought this phone for my parents as they dont have a landline but the security of a spare phone incase of an emergency. they use it as a landline and all you need is a sim card. the sound quality is good and it needs charging every 2-3 days. good for the money
