Purchased to add multiple drainage holes to be filled with coarse grave/small stones to prevent excess water during high rainfall after a dry spell. Brilliant and it work well.
Robust item, simple to use. Would probably not use in dry conditions

advertised as a tool that would dig holes for plants in any type of soil sorry but not true
Drilled lots of holes in lien to stuff it with better quality compost and turf did the job
This one has a solid shaft whereas some others are hollow and weak. It does make it heavier but that doen’t matter when you are making hole in the ground. Very pleased.
This Drill bit it fabulous for so many things. If you’re a keen gardener, you need these, I have bought 2 different sizes. I also use it to aerate the lawn for reseeding. It’s so easy to use with my 18v drill. Would highly recommend.

Husband got because needed to drill deep hole in soil for a washing line post.hole done easily in about 15 seconds.husband very impressed
This is such a useful little item. We are in the process of a significant transformation of the garden around our recent home purchase. This makes planting out bulbs and plants from 3-inch pots so easy and if there are plants already in a border then it reduces the disruption to the roots of the plants already planted. It has saved us so much time!
Works well at digging holes in soil also used for mixing the contents of the compost bin.
Very easy to use. Just that British dirt can be very hard
After sowing 139 sweetcorn for the allotment it dawn on me I would have to dig 130 holes to plant them with a towel. This was daunting so I got this.. really sped the job up and created perfectly sized holes.
Just be sure to keep two hands on the drill at all times in case it hits a stone or something!
Going to use it for my spuds next week!
Easier to make a hole in the ground with little effo
Nothing to dislike about this tool. Easy to use. Good value for money.
This is a great tool in the few weeks I’ve had it I have used it to plant potatoes mixed paint and mixed up cement and great for putting up tree stakes going to purchase another one in case I damage or lose this one and a great price fast delivery
This gadget is great for making holes for bulbs and plants where you need a hole cleared. I wanted it for parsnips. Make a hole, fill with compost and grow well shaped parsnips. I’ve also found other uses around the garden. You need a decent drill with good torque and a strong wrist.
The auger is designed to fit into an electric drill having a hexagonal top for the chuck to grip. As a side note, this ideally should be a mains powered drill or at least have a spare, charged battery to hand. The auger digs in very well and the ‘business end’ stands up to punishment well. That unfortunately cannot be said for the hexagonal end as this, in my case, quickly rounded making the augur unable to be driven and spinning in the chuck at quite low torque when for instance encountering damp clay soil or a small root. All this to say that, for the price, it has done its job, but don’t expect ‘industrial’ quality.
easily fitted my cordless drill. good to use both drill functions( forward & reverse), as this makes a decent hole to plant my bulbs.
feels sturdy, as all one piesce of metal rod.
The auger arrived on time was well packaged it was used to plant bulbs made it really easy.
Much better than using a trowel.
Read the instructions/go one line and watch one of the many videos to make sure you choose an appropriate clutch setting, otherwise it can cause the drill to tug your hand/arm if not set correctly.
Used the large auger with an18v cordless drill to plant trees, lasted all day on one charge. Auger was faultless and would no doubt be ready the following day, alas not so me.
Attached to drill they make great hikes for plants and bulbs, very useful and nice and sturdy. The two different sizes are very useful
Bought to try and improve drainage in clay soil, does the job, only downside I would say is that the steel is rather soft and the hex bit is already getting rounded off a bit, which will cause issues with its longevity which is a shame.
Very well made and sturdy auger ideal for drilling drain holes in the lawn and filling with rubber crumb.
Well made and dose the job it was designed for it’s not going to cut through heavy stone soil but normal garden soil is a breeze
I already purchased a set of drill bits for planting my bulbs and bare root plants, but they were only 400 mm long, including the shaft to fit the drill chuck. I struggled to plant the larger Tulip bulbs and plants with long roots, but this was fine today.
Bought to speed up planting of bulk purchase of bulbs and lilies. Large auger perfect for lilies and smaller one right for alliums. Used with cordless variable speed drill on low setting. Found best technique was to use short prodding technique rather than try to drill hole in one go. Worked fine and a lot quicker than planting with trowel or bulb planter. Large auger also handy for loosening soil for corner posts on new raised beds. My soil was friable, not compacted and no roots/stones to speak of so augers did their job without any issues. In tougher conditions there may be a problem as screw threads are fixed to the shaft with just 3 spot welds rather than continuous weld and so could be point of failure on hard stony ground.
Did the trick on my heavy clay lawn
I would recommend this for small lawns with drainage problems. I did a cat scan of the lawn first as this thing goes very deep very quickly. Looking forward to planting bulbs with it in autum
Bought to drill some holes to accommodate fence posts of the same size. I suppose it depends on your ground conditions but this worked great for me. Just needed to be careful I didn’t go too deep.
The garden Auger arrived on time. It is a good and steady unit. However, it requires a good powerful drill to use in rough soil. I tried a powerful 18 volts hand drill, but it did not work satisfactorily.
used two cordless drills with one of the augers in each and planted hundreds of bulbs of all sizes in a couple of hours in stony Cotswold soil with no effects on dodgy knees and no back pain afterwards! A gift from the gardening gods! I found highest torque setting and lowest speed gave best result.
highly recommended!
We have a hard stony soil but it went through easily. 10kg of daffodils planted using this. Definitely recommend.
I got this to facilitate installing the ground spike for a rotary drier. Previous attempts to drive in the spike led to it being very off-vertical. I made a rough jig out of scrap wood to assist in keeping the auger vertical. When drilling, you need to avoid forcing the tool as it will bite into the soil and stall the drill. Also allow the auger to bring the spoil to the surface. I used an 18v cordless drill on slow speed and successfully excavated to 16″ depth.
As a bonus I used the augur when planting a number of daffodil bulbs. just the right size, job done in minutes.
I was pleased with it’s performance. Planted tulip bulbs through grass in no time. Sturdy so should last.
useful and convenient. The length is long enough so that you don’t have to bend to much when drilling in standing position. The downside, due to the length, when it rotate, it is a bit wobbly. My top soil is from wickes so that might explain the ease of drilling.
Very impressed with the quality, sturdiness and value for money
Planted 3 times as many bulbs in our lawn in the time we normally would with the dipper and no blisters. Plus the grass soon covered the holes so well impressed
Great tool for many things in the garden but I use it mainly as an auger for 75 x 75 and 100 x 100mm steel post spikes to drill a pilot hole. Absolutely first class for this and enables spike adjustment right down to the last few taps.
It does the job well. It saves a lot of effort and time. Just be aware that if you hit a stone, root or anything hard, your drill will feel like it is gone wild. It does not like hard surprises. But on earth, as hard as it can be it is great.
Bought for the wife who is constantly adding Bluebells and Snowdrops to our woodland garden and spends most of the time digging the bulbs in with a trowel on her knees. The length of this auger enables her to stand and drill multiple holes in a group very quickly and then simply drop the bulbs in and back-fill. It makes the job so much easier, quicker and more consistent. The only observation is that you need to ‘hold’ the drill-bit back to prevent it from simply drilling in too deeply without removing the soil. If you lift the drill up and down as you go this will ensure the hole is cleared of soil and not suddenly swallow the auger bit. It would also have been helpful if the blades had extended longer up the shaft to enable deeper holes for stakes but this is its secondary use as the increased ease for bulb planting is its forte. Well made with solid shaft unlike some other hollow versions and the diameter of the hole is perfect for dropping a bulb in and allowing your pinched fingers to press in the soil behind it. Not had it long enough to have encountered any issues apart from hitting the odd tree root and having to back out and move the spot over. Used with a an old corded drill and long extension lead as this drill has a side handle for steady control and a speed limiter on it so it could be set not to run away and bury itself more quickly. Good tool and well worth having in the shed. I’m no gardener but the wife would spend all day on the garden if she could and she really likes using it and has planted many bulbs since getting it.
eceived on time well packed quality item top draw selle
Excellent. Have only used it twice but planted 600 bulbs in less than an hour. Good drill essential I guess but even lifts small rocks out.
Very pleased.
Having a chalk garden can prove extremely difficult when planting anything because you need to be a body builder to make the smallest of holes. This drill bit was the perfect solution. We did manage to break our drill/battery screwdriver and my partner nearly twisted his wrist so caution is required when drilling into hard ground but other than that it’s a great bit of kit.
Came quickly and are as described, work reaaly well but have only used a coipule of times so far. However, they are built weel so hope they hold up over the next months and into next year, time will tell.
Really with the Augar it makes nice deep holes for planting also is great for make a much bigger hole by drilling half a doze holes then dig with a spade, well made impleme
Good product. Sturdy. Used it to dig out bamboo hedge roots. Did the job!
Not used as a bulb planter but used to break up top 200-300mm of compacted dry and hard soil in a trench – which meant no real digging just shovelling so much easier and very good for that.
Also used as pilot hole borer for fence post hole auger. Made that task much easier in a confined space.
I bought this auger to bore holes in the ground to mount scaffolding poles to use as clothes posts. I had a trial go in the area. I used a Makita SDS drill with a normal chuck fitted, you need a bit of power for this job and I doubt my cordless drills would have been up to it. If the ground is dry it sort of bores its way in bringing up the soil chopped up fine. As you go deeper it is inclined to screw itself into the ground, faster than you might expect. You have to reverse the drill to escape. In clay you go in a little way and pull it out, not easy if it’s in too far. I managed the full depth of the auger and on the real holes I then hammered the poles into the ground the last bit. The bit certainly works and although I only needed it for two deep holes it looks like it could bore a lot more. Very pleased. The best bit and I’m chuffed with this, was I nearly got the holes vertical by eye.
I used this in addition to the 150dia hand Auger as when I hit a stone could swap to the drill and work around the stone to remove it. I also used it to enlarge the hole. Brilliant.
Our garden floods every year, all seasons and it is due to terrible clay soil. it affects borders and my lawn. I bought the augur after seeing someone using it on a Pinterest gardening page. It is incredibly powerful – prepare yourself for that, the drill will come out of your hand once the augus gets stuck in so start gently. This is our new ‘go to’ for sorting out our soil issues. We were thrilled to see it drill out what I can only describe as ‘pot making’ clay from our borders. I fear we won’t need to go that far down for the clay under the lawn. We’re filling in the holes with a mixture of topsoil, grit and compost. Hopefully, it will sort the draining issue out.
This works okay and it works well on my cordless drill I would recommend it for anyone for gardening and turning the garden over.
I bought it to bore some holes and I was a little adventurous if they did one with an sds drill attachment that would be great.
I needed to install some 3×2 posts in the garden, had used a much larger (hand operated) augur in the past for large posts, so gave this a try. Perfect! Used with a Bosch PSB 1800 Li-2 cordless drill, worried it wouldn’t be butch enough, but it was. Drilling in very dry soil is dead easy, like a manic mole it disappears rapidly producing 10-12 inch deep holes with no bother. Drilling in wetter (clay) soil is a bit slower, need to pull the spoil out as you go, but the holes are even better, really neat. If you hit large pebbles or tree roots, you may need to reverse out and pound the blockage into submission with a digging bar. And you will need to brace the drill against your leg as the back torque when you hit something is fierce. Brilliant tool! Fun actually…
This has a solid bit and coped well with stones.
I used it to drill holes & plant 50 plants in under an hour!
Was a bit skeptical about this as I would be using this to dig post holes and not simple gardening when planting.
The ground was a bit softer from previous rain but it made easy use and dug deep very quickly. I do suggest not rushing and going full power on your drill. Preferable to use a torque mode as when it snags on a stone your drill will flick violently cussing wrist damage.
This simple tool help me put up a small fence with about 7 posts. Saved me so much time from manual digging.
Only regret is not getting a bigger one so I can dig bigger holes.
I’m using this to help dig a narrow trench for cabling from house to shed.
I remove the turf then drill a series of holes with the auger before digging the loosened soil and stones.
I set my battery drill to the highest torque setting so I won’t damage my wrists if there’s any resistance.
This 50mm (dia) 600mm length auger helped to make hole in turf for fitting rotary washing line. Had to utilise metal bar to break up stones encountered, which the auger struggled to pass. However this auger certainly contributed in making the job easier to reach the depth of hole required and saved having to dig the turf out.
Bought mainly for turning compost in large bins, build quality seems decent but a word of warning, because it’s quite sturdy your wrist will probably fail before the auger does. I was using an 18v cordless DeWalt drill which generates a fairly decent amount of torque and it gave my arm a hell of a yank. Definitely not one to let children use. As regards the compost, does a brilliant job of mixing it.
It worked as I expected it would, makes a neat hole for my rotary line fitment.
Made hole deeper so I can cement it in and give more stability.
yet to try it but it scares the hell out of me !!
Used first time to prepare some hard soil for planting. Had the drill setting on max torgue and it nearly ripped my arm off. You need to experiment with the torque to find the optimum level and then it works well.
I have to say expensive for what it is but I have to admit used in an SDS drill it really does make digging post holes etc a breeze and is quiet fun and satisfying to use. You do find yourself look king for reasons to dig a new hole with i
This is a great tool! I have been using a pick up axe to break up my hard garden soil and then using a spade to remove all the weeds and plant bulbs.
I bought this tool after seeing a video on tiktok and thought wow! what a great idea. After some research, I bought this product and attached it to my stanley fatmax 750W corded drill. It went straight into the soil and around in seconds! Powerful and saves so much time and energy.
Make sure you use a good drill with a handle because if the soil is very hard, you can damage your wrist (I almost did), hold it firmly and just take your time and let the drill do the work.
You need a powerful drill for these type of jobs.
Definitely recommend it!!

Looks fine and sturdy not used as yet as weather very wet. On examination think the drill mounted hex end could do with being a bit deeper into the drill for a bit more stability and strenghth as i have clay and a bit rubbly soil…??
Work well but wish the shaft was slightly longer
To keek my drill away from the soil.
Brilliant to loosen soil, just watch if it snags in even small roots as the drill will take hold and could damage your wrists with the twist. No fault of the drill bit, just a caution of working soil.
Happy with the product nd glad I brought it. Made planting hedging so much easier. 5 seconds a whole (even though it was stoney / rockey. Saved my back.
be careful if the auger bites in the ground, as it will spin the whole drill in your wrists.
WOW. I am so happy i found this. My soil is very difficult to dig being clay and flint. I never want to dig deep but had given up planting bulbs as it is so arduous. With this wonderful auger bit and my drill set to full torque it is easy. Thank you
2 Products ordered Wednesday, expected on Saturday, one arrived Thursday, one on Friday. Both exactly as expected. If I had to gripe about something, it would be the packaging was massive for both. I have a third size drill on order, all three would fit in a single box half the size of the box each was sent in. Quality excellent and service faultless. Its a hard one really, because if they waited for all three to be despatched together, you would complain they took too long. All in all…..very happy and highly recommended.
Petit outil de jardin Idal, utilis une fois, parfait rien redire , je recommande ! A noter, livraison trs rapide (48h)
Great little arguer bit, just the right size for plug plants. Very sturdy product that is value for money. Definitely use this seller again.
Easily made neat 2ft holes to take some posts. It worked well in our soil which is quite stoney when you get down about 9in.
I like that it has a solid shaft
It works well with a cordless drill ( max torque) which has better control than my electric drill. It didnt fit my impact driver and the SDS drill would be too powerful. Go slow, if it seizes just reverse the drill and try again woth less pressure but go slow of the drill is going too fast when it seizes on a stone or root you could eaisily break a finger or hurt your wrist.
The only negative is that I would have prefered the screw/blade to come further up the shaft which would make it easier get the spoil out of the hole if you are making a deep hole.

Fits straight into the chuck of the drill, and does exactly what you would expect it to do. Just be wary of the soil that is thrown out in all directions when it’s being used. Makes light work of digging holes in even the hardest clay soil.
This has been a very useful product. I’ve used it to dig post holes and it has made the job much easier. It is made well. A bit pricey for what it is but made life a lot easier.
This item is great for my husband as he has a bad back and this does all the hard work
a strong little tool which speeds up planting quantities of bulbs but remember two things…-1) you need to fill the hole in with good earth to complete the job and 2) Avoid areas where tree/or shrub roots are likely to be as the tool quickly grips these and tries to take you with it!!
Very sturdy piece of kit which makes bulb planting so much easier. All you need is an ordinary drill; the auger fits in and when the drill is switched on the rotating auger makes a hole just right for you bulbs. Husband loved it, as he can plant his bulbs without having to kneel down.
Wow, soooo easy to plant blubs now!
What a great thing. Bigger size tool or more impacted earth can be more effective with a corded drill but small size tool worked excellently on normal grassed soil areas.
This works quite well with low power battery drill – it’s a bit too much on a electic mains drill that hasn’t a variable speed setting! The two drills wiil make a suitable hole in softish soil but struggles with hard or impacted soil so they are more suited to prepared beds. Given this they are very useful for planting a lots of bulbs and are very well made.
Great product, wish I had one years ago! Planted 100+ bulbs on an hour. Would have taken 2 days without this beast of a tool. Totally happy, great product 5 stars from me
I have compacted ground and this just went straight through it.
I used the drill bit to assist with digging out fence post holes. It worked well and loosened soil and clay materials well. My ground was also stoney but the drill bit lives to tell the tale. Very handy.
2 Drill Augers, used to loosen very compacted soil/building rubble round a tree stump I wanted removing.
Spade wouldnt touch the ground but the smaller of the two loosened the soil enough for removal.
So first use was a tough hard day.
These are strong enough that they will take the drill from your hand if they snag, so only positives on how robust they are.
Larger one probably more suited to looser less compacted soil (mine was more like concrete).
Are they worth it? In my opinion definitely
Does as it says drills holes for planting bulbs plants etc ideal for planting in a crowded boarde
Good sturdy item used for planting bulbs and vegetables. Easy to use.
With the very hard ground from the dry weather this has been an invaluable tool around the garde
I was looking for something to break up compacter earth in some very closely planted flower beds. This was perfect for the job. It must be stated that the earth was dry so it did not stick to the bit. I used it on my 14V 3/8″ Chuck Cordless Drill with no issue. I would imagine it would be ideal for bulb planting as well.
I was actually a bit bothered about the hassle of having to connect up the electric drill and extension cable to use this. However, I then noticed that we had an old hand drill in the garage (windy handle). So now I keep that with my gardening tools and I can use it easily without the need for electricity!
A bit on the costlier side as compared to others, but really solid made, feels heavy and works as intended.
eine wirkliche Arbeitserleichterung. Wir haben sehr festen und steinigen Boden doch dieses Teil hat sich einfach so reingefressen – trotz Akkuschrauber. Kann ich nur empfehlen.
Wonderful piece of kit. It does exactly what it says. Good for planting and also simple soil turnover.
We have softish sandy soil and so an auger such as this is really good and churns the ground over. It catches the odd root and really kicks back but this is manageable. I suspect longer term my Bosch drill bearings might be taking a hammering so am using selectively. The longer shank on this auger makes for less bending than the shorter models.
Made planting bulbs easy for someone like me who can’t dig or bend.
Very good quality and super easy to use, would buy agai
Does a fantastic job – made planting so much simpler!
I had 600 tulip bulbs to plant in a recently cleared bed – full of old roots so not the easiest to dig. Bought a so called bulb planter which failed after 3 bulbs and needed to be bent into shape again, any way gave up and continued with a small fork and a trowel, had done 320 bulbs in over 4 hours and got a huge blister on my hand. Ordered this and planted the remaining 280 in less than hour! Wish I’d had this in the first place would have saved a lot of pain and time and does a neater job. Lets face it this is a bit of metal so more of a five star review of the method than the actual product. If you want to plant something that matches the size then this is definately the tool for the job.
