Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought one, then another one immediately to monitor the house temperature during cold snaps from overseas. Love them!

Very easy to setup (enable Bluetooth and install the App) you can choose real-time readings over Bluetooth or setup periodic “to the cloud” readings via WiFi. That’s also free. To be clear, you don’t have to be on the same WiFi network to see those readings – we read them from Hong Kong and the Govees are in the UK.

The Apps have a widget mode as the photo shows, so you don’t even have to open it to see the temperature (and humidity). They come with high power batteries that claim to last a year, and their charge state is shown on the App so you know when it’s time to replace them.

Accuracy I can’t discern as I don’t have a “gold standard” thermometer to compare against but with the very high quality product and great app I’d be surprised if they hadn’t taken care to make it fairly accurate too.

Just note that you need Bluetooth to set the reading frequency as I said, meaning once one out of range you can’t set this via the App. Ours are set to every hour.

For the price, build quality and what they do these things are amazing. When I’m back in the UK next I’m going to buy a third one. Very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love them!

I have 4 different digital thermometers and I placed them all together twice in different places. They all read within 0.1 degrees so I’m confident on the accuracy. This works a treat. I placed it near some pipes in ventilated eaves that I wanted to be sure didn’t freeze. I set up an alarm at 3 degrees on the app. I’ve used it now for a couple of months including the recent -9 degrees c patch and it’s worked ideally.

Accurate, versatile, app software good, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth cnx seems good. But it’s fairly big so deployment can be tricky if you want it to blend into home environment. It’s currently too expensive, except on discount days, to have ‘in every room’ & is not suitable for outdoor use unless positioned protected from rain etc. Overall it’s a good Wi-Fi thermometer etc, I have two (one purchased on Black Friday), overall it’s a good semi-pro piece of kit, better than other similar none Wi-Fi devices (tempo). Will seriously consider purchasing a few more when pricing is cheaper.

This product doesn’t work with Google home BUT once collaborated useing the salt method in a zip lock bag for 12-14hrs it’s very accurate, infact so accurate I threw my other hygrometers away has it was those that was way out even after collaborating them! I collaborated this 3 times to double check! I use these for my tortoises so that it alerts me when there temps are off by notification on my phone. I will be buying more of these. if they can fix the google thing it would get a full 5 stars from me.

This is my third Govee Thermometer/Hygrometer (the other two still work fine – I just need to measure 3 rooms). The phone app is excellent for monitoring what’s going on and I can very simply email myself all the temperature & humidity data as a .csv file from within the app, to store & plot the results in Excel. Great piece of kit.

Who would have thought a data logging thermometer/hygrometer would be so useful. I have used one thought the year in my greenhouse, one in my airing cupboard for monitoring the temperature for brewing Kombucha and ginger beer and my latest one for monitoring the temperature/moisture in an area I am trying to grow mushrooms in. It is app based, connects easily to the WiFi and is easy to use. I could live without it, but choose not too.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe thermometer itself is a solid bit of kit. Govee seem like a good company and their app has been one of the good ones I have used for these kind of smart devices. A shame that it cannot be used with IFTTT/ Shortcuts etc as I wanted it to trigger a plug to turn on my greenhouse heater, had to send it back.

Using it to monitor our room temperatures when the house central heating is in operation. The app allows the indicated temperature to be adjusted in line with the room thermostat indicated temperature. Temperature sensor can be hung or places on a surface and although a little bulky is a wireless device so placement is flexible. Although one of the cheaper available temperature sensors I am very pleased with the results I am getting and the associated app.

Easy to set up and the app has useful features, such as record-keeping and alerts.

Alexa will only tell you the temperature, so you have to check the app for the Relative Humidity.

Needed something to monitor the temperature in a tortoise house in the garden. This fit the bill perfectly. With the app you can check the current temperature and humidity and scroll back to see how it’s changed during the day, week, or month. Handy for making sure the heater was working correctly to keep the chill off.
WiFi range is decent enough and you can connect via Bluetooth to change any settings. Used the app to keep an eye on things while we were away for peace of mind and you can set min and max temperature alerts which came through straight away when I ran a test.
Ideal for any remote temperature checking.

I have this outside in the greenhouse which is about 10m away from the router and the signal is fine. I have other Govee products and I recommend them. The app is great and you can access when away from home providing you have 3g/4g/5G signal. Govee offer regular discounts so maybe check back daily for prices dropping.

The tests I’ve done so far show it to be accurate but you need to be patient. It is slow to adjust to temperature changes of more than a fraction of a degree. I suspect it may be because the unit has a large thermal mass due to the thee batteries so the unit takes a while to heat/cool.
Having said that, if you use it as a room thermostat where there aren’t massive fluctuations it’ll be fine.

I purchased this so that I could keep a regular check on my tortoise that lives in our greenhouse and garden during the summer. Rather than have to go and look at the thermometer I can now see what is happening remotely. This was very easy to set up. It’s accurate and I love the ability to see a report or chart of the previous recorded temp and humidity. Would def recommend.

A really nice, well made unit. Even arrives with AA batteries preinstalled. I have this in my chest freezer to monitor the temperature in my detached garage. Although it is suggested by the manufacturer not to install in this maner due to moisture ingress. It would be nice if the unit came with a remote probe so as to keep the main unit out of fridge/freezer.

This reads from minus 20 to plus 60 degrees C. It can be changed to Fahrenheit for the rather backward USA market. (they still use cups instead of Grams!) Overall, I am very pleased and plan to order more for other locations.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersThese are fantastic little units, compact enough you can put them nearly anywhere, anywhere you want really.

So first of all, I have 2 of these devices for personal use and a further 7 for work, I recently got another 3 for personal use and thought to write an in-depth review based on my own experience.

In short, these units are mini data loggers that run off 3, AA batteries and have both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity

I have had 2 of these units for a little over 10 months now, both are configured to upload data once every 60 minutes over the WiFi and even still they are between 50-75% remaining battery life on the original, included batteries.

I feel it is important to mention before I go to far that I have read some other reviews on here and believe that they may have been taken out of context to their issues, specifically the permissions request by the app on install.

As mentioned, by others that the app will not work if you do not grant it access to the Location service on your phone.
While many believe this is to be unnecessary, it is actually a requisite by all Mobile phone developers who sell devices in the EU since Android 9 and even as far back as iOS 7
This is due to GDPR and other privacy concerns that previously mobile phone companies didn’t need to inform the phone users how their data was being used, but now it is highlighting that location can be obtained from Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS (In order of accuracy) due to EU law.
So while the configurarion of the device is via Bluetooth and as the device you are connected to has its own network connection, location services will be required, however reassuringly, it does not need accurate location (GPS) and only uses Bluetooth while the app is in use (to communicate with the sensors)
Rest assured, I’ve tested it thoroughly and at no point has any identifiable location data been sent either to the sensor or to the network via the app.

So back to the device itself.
It is a great little unit, there is not many (if any) like it on the market that allow WiFi uplink of logged data so you ca retrieve it while away from home (I’ve read my data while away on holiday etc without an issue)

The unit itself, takes reading of both temperature and humidity every 60 seconds and then later uploads it to the network so you can retrieve it wherever you are when away from the device.

The device only works on 2.4ghz WiFi, which is a good thing as 5ghz WiFi lacks the range of 2.4ghz (one word of caution if you’ve never worked with split signal WiFi, find out how to get into your WiFi routers settings and rename the 5ghz signal, like “network_5g” and rename the 2.4ghz as “network_2” that way when you come to set up the sensor and you try to pair it to the 2.4 network you know it’s connected to the right signal (usually most ISP routers have the same name for both 2.4 and 5ghz WiFi signals and sensors like this are unable to tell which one is which)

The app has a great chart layout, where you can choose to see it in either Celsius or Fahrenheit and you can also zoom to your own view range or choose one of the predefined views, either hour, day, week, month or year.
The app also allows you to export the data via email and can either be done on request or even scheduled so it automatically sends the data to you on the same day each month for example.

    As the device itself has no buttons or switches on it, all of the configuration is done via the app over a Bluetooth connection. The configuration choices allow you to;
    * Unique user assignable name/ID
    * Device safety (to block unwanted users)
    * Temperature alarm set points (upper and lower) note there is no sounder on the device, alerts are via the app
    * Humidity alarm set points (agaim, upper and lower)
    * Calibration adjustment for both temperature (+/-3’c) or humidity (+/-20%)
    * Data refresh frequency (WiFi) either 10/30 or 60 minutes
    * User guide (also used to pair the device with Alexa/Google Home)

Also, note that the data refresh rate setting does not affect how often the temperature or humidity reading are taken as these are automatically taken every 60 seconds and stored on the device, the data refresh rate is just how often this data is synchronised with the network via 2.4ghz WiFi.

I hope you find this review useful, if you have then please upvote it below!
    Thanks

Great little units, much cheaper directly from the seller though!

Needed a thermostat to monitor a welping area for my dogs new litter. This allowed me to hang it near the box, and access it from anywhere to make sure the temperate was right. Also loved the notification ability of the temp drops or raises past set limits! Exactly what I needed to make sure the newborn pups are always comfortable!

I have 3 to monitor temperature in the greenhouse, conservatory and the outside. I made a weather protector by cutting out the bottom in a screen wash bottle, see photos. I can keep a check on the temperatures, even when away!

This particular Govee WiFi Thermometer & Hygrometer, Wireless Smart Indoor Sensor was bought as a present but I have this exact model in use myself and I can confirm that it is good value for money and works very well. The sensor unit can be calibrated and the readings adjusted to be correct against a temperature and/or a relative humidity standard (e.g. at a mid-point reading over the expected usage scale). The temperature and RH readings are sent to the Govee App installed on your smart phone and they can be viewed as a function of time in hours, days, months or years. I have found my Govee Unit to be very reliable so far and can recommend it.

  43. SophiaPortillo says:

     United Kingdom

As a whole its an excellent product. However if you expect to be able to adjust and monitor settings from any further than 15m away then forget it. Whilst it connects over wifi really well it only updates latest data to the app through bluetooth. I was aware of this beforehand so ok with it. I got mine for use in my cigar humidor to save opening the lid all the time to check levels. Its perfect for that however for any humidor users out there i would strongly advise to run a calibration test beforehand. I used a Boveda calibration kit i had at home and it only reached 72% humidity instead of the 75% it should have read. Adjusting the calibration is easy and done from the app and once set it was fine. Maybe not an issue for non cigar users but a 2-3% discrepancy can be damaging for us.
All in all excellent value for money and convenient, also only 19 at the mo. Would highly recommend if you are happy to live with its ,albeit small, drawbacks.

I looked through many options of temperature monitoring at home, all pretty expensive options. I came across this little gadget and decided when it went on sale on Prime day to get it.

I love this thing, if you want depth of monitoring, this might not be the monitor for you but if you want temperature and humidity then this might just be your new little friend.

It is easy to set up, easy to pair to your phone and is small enough to put it where you want it while being big enough to not be something that goes missing.

When i’m out and about or even sat in another room in the house, I can glance at my phone to see an update to the temperature in that room. When i can I will be getting more to monitor more rooms in the house as I also find it interesting to see how it fluctuates.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI use this in my server cupboard to monitor the environmental operating temperatures and apart me when the temperature gets too hot. It sends alerts quickly when humidity or temperatures get out of the custom range. Because it’s battery powered, I can rely on this in the event of a power cut. I operate my server and WiFi with UPS so this gives me peace of mind, knowing I can still monitor EVERYTHING remotely.

Batteries have so far held up nicely. I use the most frequent temperature check setting which is more draining on the battery but so far they’ve lasted 2 months +.

Got one for inside my reptile tank. Ended up getting 3 more and will buy more still. They are accurate, easy to set up. Accessible from anywhere over the internet and the app is fantastic. Unless they all die in 3 months I’ll still be very happy with these !! Would highly recommend them.

One downside is that 2 of them came with flat batteries. But as they were actually included in the first place I didn’t really mind.

Great accurate temp and hygro. Wifi is very slow to update though in the app and often times out downloading the data from the device. It is often quicker to go near enough for bluetooth connection to update data.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ll be up front. I’ve had these a little over a week, so I can’t say they’re “reliable”, or the “battery lasts for years”. So skip those bits.

Out of the box and setup is a doddle. Then once running you use their app (or ask Alexa) and they’ll tell you. Added bonus is the notifications if they go above or below your selected thresholds.

When running they’re really good. They’ll happily use wifi and report even if you’re remote… but if you’re closed they use bluetooth instead and update instantly (as opposed to every, say 30 mins which you select). The bluetooth has a decent range too.

So nice display, alerts if over/under temp, realtime readings if you’re close, periodic if you’re more remote.

Great value for money. Bought to monitor temperature and view history of temperature in my babies room. Works perfectly for this. App is nice also. It disconnected from WiFi once, but I was still able to stand outside my babies room to get the latest data and reset the WiFi connection. It’s been fine since.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI like them. Will need to see how they work long term but they are in my Boa Constrictor vivarium to keep and eye on temps and humidity (I am using two) and so far they seem relatively accurate.

I like them. Perfect for a vivarium.

This is a brilliant sensor at a great price. It is accurate and easy to use. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth and WiFi so you can see temp and humidity even when outside the home. You can even set up a widget on your phone home screen to show the figures without having to open the app. You won’t find a better sensor at this price.

The thermometer is easy to setup. Works well with a good app. Let’s us determine when and if to switch on a room air conditioner. After a few days of use, I’m very pleased with product. Like the graphing on the app

This small device can be connected with Bluetooth. It’s a small device but gives you a lot of information. It gives you the temperature readings of the room and also the humidity level. The figures are very accurate. It has been very useful for me as I can adjust the dehumidifier in the room when needed after looking at the readings from this device.

I needed a thermo/hygometer which was accurate, but could also be calibrated using the usual methods. This does the job admirably with the out of box accuracy at + 0.3% humidity. Thats a win for me

This is a really helpful thermometer.
It is perfect when you want to keep you little baby on the right temperature and humidity and if any of them gets changed, you will be notified.
You can set notifications for too high and too low temperature and for too high and too low humidity.
You can set how often the app will refresh the information from the thermometer.
When you are not connected with bluetooth to the thermometer,it connects to the app with WiFi and the refresh rate can be set on 10mins,30mins and 1hr.
If you are connected to the thermometer with bluetooth, the refresh rate is 2 seconds.
If you want to change any settings on the app,you have to connect to the thermometer with bluetooth as otherwise the settings are not available on the app.
The installation of the thermometer was pretty quick with the Goove Home app.
When you click to add device, you can find the actual model of the thermometer in the app and select it.
Then you have to create an account with you email and set a password.
Then the app will scan for the thermometer and you will see a list of all devices in range.
When you select the device that you have found, the app will ask you about the refresh rate of the data from the Thermometer and to set the name for you device.
Then you need to input the WiFi Name and password and the thermometer is ready to use.
You will be asked if you want to set “device safety” ,which when enabled will block other users from binding with the thermometer.
The thermometer needs 3 AA batteries ,which are included.
I am using it for over a month now and on the app ,the battery still shows full.
I am not sure if this is accurate, but at least it still works with no issues.
I will update this review when the battery needs replacing to tell how long it lasted.

Hopefully my review was Helpful for you.

I’m really loving this thermometer and hygrometer.

I needed something to monitor the temperature in an outbuilding, this does that perfectly.

It updates over wifi every hour, and accurately shows you historic information in their app.

I’m really impressed by the accuracy and the fact that after a month of use, on a single charge it’s still going strong!

I will be buying a few more of these as a result!

This device is really cool and good. I was thinking maybe it was smaller, but actually is not, it is still fine, it fits in the hand. I had no problem to set it up and once i have done it, i had the chance to see all the data from thermometer on my smartphone.
The graphs are looking very precise

    Good graphs

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI wanted to monitor how the outside temperature varied during the night, and to be able to see it while away from home.

I couldn’t see an outside thermometer that would do this, but got this and popped it inside a small plastic container and it works fine.

I was a bit worried about setting it up as it only supports 2.4 Ghz WiFi and have trouble before connecting such devices. However, my router now apparently allows the WiFi to be restricted for this purpose – but in fact it connected fine without doing that.

In fact the set up was very easy.

I am very pleased with the info provided and the ability to monitor through the internet.

It gives temperatures slightly different to a nearby thermometer, but they are sufficiently close for my interest – and I don’t know if there are minor differences because of the exact location or if the other thermometer is more accurate or not.

his is a smart wifi thermometer, it takes 3 x aa batteries (included) to operate, not sure how long will the battery could last for, it got a little battery indicator inside the app, probably it would alert if it’s about running out of battery

the device is not very small, about palm size, it got a lanyard for hanging, quite convenient to place it in my room, no dedicated desk or wall space is required

it’s easy to use, i could connect it to the mobile app in no time, it uses its own govee app, govee got its own line of smart devices, seems not able to integrate with my zigbee, hue smart devices at home

function of this device is simple (temperature and humidity), but very useful, it also record history, so i could know the temperature and humidity change in any day

it also got alert function, so i could be aware of temperature and humidity exceed or fall below threshold so i could adjust the room temperature by turn on fan or heater, well, i wish it could integrate with my zigbee controllers so it will be automatic

anyway, i’m happy with this product, would recommend

wish it could integrate with my other smart device

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe hardware seems good quality and connects easily over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Cant yet comment on battery life. As with many such app based devices, a small improvement to the app could make this much more useful. Such as — tag a date/time when device is placed somewhere or have ‘named’ locations (like greenhouse, conservatory, bedroom) and just select one when its moved (with their own alarm temps). The named locations could then be viewed separately. There is also no reason not the link the temp/humidity graph with a single vertical line when graph tapped. Also the app seems to advertise other Govee devices and games which is extremely annoying. This reason alone almost got it a 3* rating and not 4*.

Quite easy to connect it to alexa, so can find out the temperature by askin her.
    Also this hygrometer showing humidy.
Overall, can say its very usefull accesories.

This is a very smart little gadget for monitoring the humidity and temperature of a specific area. I installed the Govee home app and turn on the Bluetooth on smart phone, follow instruction to add the device with the right model number, then it connect instantly. The data will transmit to the app via wifi after setup and be able to view by hour, by day, week, month etc…. it can also export data for analysis. I use it to keep track of humidity and temp in garage and decide if I need to turn on dehumidifier over there via another smart device. I find it very useful to take control and I don’t have to check out in person.

Maintaining a humidifier in the winter has always been a challenge. It’s a temp/humidity sensor that talks to my phone through the manufacturer’s app (iOS app for me).

I can easily get a quick glance at the current status of my humidity, I have set thresholds to notify me if the temperature or humidity drops or raises beyond my comfort zone.

The standard hydrometer that came built-in to the side of my humidor has always been junk, so I used to run a digital display hydrometer just behind the glass. While the digital hydrometer did keep accurate numbers, I’d still have to be mindful to look.

Since it doesn’t have any physical display on the device itself, location placement in the humidor wasn’t all that critical. I used the included mount & tape to attach it to the backside of the shelf in my garage.

This sensor is palm-sized and a bit chunky. It takes 3xAAA batteries (supplied) that are activated by removing a small plastic tab. There’s a lanyard from which to hang it, if required.

You need to download the Govee Home app, and it’s a simple matter of pressing ‘+’ to add this device, which should be waiting to be paired when it’s first activated. You can rename the device, so there’s the possibility to add more if required.

The app allows you to choose 10, 30 or 60 min updates (the faster the quicker the batteries will expire). The reading are stored so you have a graphical representation of temperature and humidity over the days it’s been operating.

You can easily set min/max temperature and humidity levels, and if it goes outside of these it will send you an alert.

Excellent features and works over WiFi, so anywhere that’s got WiFi in your house can have this device placed there. I’ve got this in my bunny shed to monitor the temperature and make sure it doesn’t get too hot.

Responsive and easy to set up. Good features.

This is a really small little unit, it comes with a strap to hang it if you want but I have ours in the living room on a flat surface. I love the style, it’s light small and well made, if you handle it then it doesn’t crack or creak.
All you have to do to get it going is download the app, you need to set up an account, which is pretty quick and easy. You then get walked through the process and you are able to connect the Thermometer Hygrometer to your Wifi set up. Once complete it will communicate with the app at regular intervals, you can define those intervals on set up, sending both the temperature and humidity over regularly, this is then recorded in a chart, which can be exported and sent to an email address as a one off or at certain intervals, very easy. You can even set temperature and humidity alarms.
The app is very easy to use, a nice interface with options but not overwhelming, it’s a pretty good app that works as it should and is straight forward.
I love it, really simple to set up and gives regular readings, once set up you don’t have to do anything just check the app to get the data. Even comes with batteries installed (3xAA) as well.

    Looks great and works well

Been big on this smart home stuff recently and this thermometer looked useful, it works as it should and isn’t difficult to use, it would be nice if I could use it in the smart life app but that’s not too big of an issue.

It feels well made and comes with the batteries pre installed, very happy since I didn’t have any spare AAs when this arrived.

Three AA batteries are included with the device and default setting is to record every 10 minutes however there are other settings of 30 or an hour.

Easy to use. The app is easy to set up and pair with your device. The accuracy is correct and it is easy to read the temperature on your device. Only downside is it says it can connect to alexa but I have been unable to figure that out which I’m hoping will work as that would be so much easier just to ask alexa. Easy to move around in the home and garden as it is waterproof.
