I am delighted with these secateurs. I have bought many over the years which have honestly been pretty rubbish for the job they are required to do. These are sturdy and comfortable to hold and use and the safety catch is robust.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFor the price I wasn’t expecting a samurai sword. I just needed to trim my bush, which to be fair had gotten out of control. I had a large prickly bush with big red berries which these secateurs had no problem reducing to just a large stump. Even the thick curly ones – maybe up to about 20mm diameter. I’m no expert at trimming bushes, but if you have a large bush to trim then these bad boy bush trimmers are for you. Oh, and they are still sharp too. Hopefully the bush will die before I have to trim the bugger again, but if it doesn’t then I’m well prepared. Good buy.

Trimming a thick woody hedge I was glad I purchased these cutters they are very sharp and can tackle thick knotted wood easily – with a safety catch to keep them closed while not in use I can put them down anywhere and pick them up again in confidence – very happy with my purchase

I LOOKED AT THESE GARDEN SECATEURS FROM ‘JYWYBF’ AND I THOUGHT HOW CAN THEY USE THE WORD PROFESSIONAL IN THE TITLE OF THEIR ADVERTISEMENT. HOWEVER I HAD SOME THICK, THREE WIRE CABLE TO CUT THROUGH AND I HAD NOTHING TO HAND EXCEPT THESE SECATEURS. I THOUGHT I’D SEE HOW THEY DID AND WAS SURPRISED WHEN THEY CUT THROUGH IT LIKE A KNIFE THROUGH WARM MARGARINE. THEY HAVE A HOLE IN THE HANDLE, ALLOWING YOU TO HANG THEM UP BY A PIECE OF KNOTTED STRING. ON THE PALM OF THE SECATEURS THEY HAVE A RUBBER STRIP AND ON THE FINGER SIDE THEY HAVE RAISED BUMPS TO STOP YOUR HAND SLIPPING WHEN CUTTING. ON THE SIDES THEY HAVE BLACK SLIDERS WHICH WHEN THE SECATEURS ARE FULLY CLOSED SLIDE FORWARD TO LOCK THEM IN PLACE. THESE SLIDERS ARE A LITTLE AWKWARD TO OPERATE BUT I GUESS THAT THIS MAY GET EASIER WITH TIME. IT DIDN’T STOP ME DOCKING THEM ONE STAR THOUGH. THE ANVIL BLADE IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE PASS PAST BLADES. THE SECATEURS HAVE A TOTAL LENGTH OF 8inches ( 20.32cm ) WITH A BLADE LENGTH OF 2.25inches ( 5.715cm ). ALTHOUGH I HAVE DOCKED THESE SECATEURS 1 STAR FOR THE SLIDING LOCK, IF I COULD HAVE GIVEN .5 OF A STAR THEN THESE WOULD SURELY HAVE GOTTEN 4.5 STARS BECAUSE IF YOU USE YOUR THUMB AND FINGER EITHER SIDE OF THE SLIDING LOCK IT DOES SLIDE THE LOCK FAR MORE EASY. ALTHOUGH AT FIRST GLANCE THESE SECATEURS LOOK NOTHING SPECIAL, AT UNDER 10 ( $13.87USD ) I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT THEY ARE A BARGAIN.

NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER !!!!

These are very sharp and very effective. A lot of willow branches were blown down in a gale last week. I was able to cut them all up into pieces in about an hour using these. I sorted out two bundles for weaving, some thicker pieces to be stored for firewood and all the leaves and twiddly bits for composting. I felt very satisfied to have dealt with that lot. It would have taken a lot longer with my old ones. There will be lots more to do going forward so it is nice knowing I have this tool.
Nothing not to like so far.

These seem to be very robust garden pruners with a good quality blade made from carbon steel. The product details say they can cut branches up to 20mm thick. I found they struggled at this but were fine on narrower branches and twigs. They are easy to use and pretty sharp.

At this low price I do not think they should be advertised as “professional”. However they will get plenty of use in my garden.

How do you define ‘professional’? I don’t think these are it but they’re very good for the asking price.

BUT.. They open very wide, so won’t suit those with small hands or a short reach.
And I don’t find them especially comfortable to hold as the bottom handle is bare metal, so cold to the touch and not very grippy. I notice in the product video they were wearing gloves.

These are ‘Anvil’ secateurs where the blade presses against a flat surface to chop.
They are wrongly described as ‘bypass’ jobs where the blades slide past each other like scissors.
In my experience, you need bypass jobs to cut floppy or squishy material.

I gave this pair a try out on some fat foxglove stems and ivy branches with great success. Effortless.
They have a leverage system requiring less pressure to cut through tough material.
The downside of this is that the handles need to travel further, thus the aforementioned wide grip.

They may not have been so good with softer material like young nettles.

If you’ll be mainly cutting firm stems and woody stuff, I’d recommend these if you’re on a budget and want practicality over comfort.

Otherwise, if you want something that’s a pleasure to use, I’d suggest maybe spending a bit more for something with more comfy handles and which doesn’t open quite as wide.

I didn’t have a problem with the lock and can operate it with one hand.
I won’t upload pictures as the product page images and video are accurate.

    Bought for general garden use.
As a left-hander they’re fine to use and cut cleanly.
Easy to tighten the pressure between the two handles to keep them close together.
Only used them for a month but seems able to cut 10-15 mm branches and blade seems durable.
    Would recommend.

As a keen gardener I’m always on the look out for a good pair of secateurs that are light and easy to hold, AND that cut well! And this pair, so far!, have been a success on both counts!

They are a nice size to hold and I was amazed at how light they felt, as some I’ve used have felt quite heavy and cumbersome. And as for the most important thing, it cuts really well. I have used this around the garden for various pruning duties – mostly deadheading roses, cutting back stems of shrubs, perennials and grasses and these did the job with ease. No snagging or half cuts which can sometimes happen. But these were nice and sharp, nice and light and a pleasure to use around the garden on a variety of plants. Impressive!

Can’t believe the value of these, so reasonably priced. They come in the usual packaging that you need scissors to get into. The handles are comfortable and the blades, and I know they are brand new, are so sharp, they had no trouble when I tried them on our holly bush which is slowly turning into a holly tree. Would recommend, so far so good.

These are comfortable to hold and the blade is very sharp. It makes light work of chopping through branches up to a finger thickness. Bigger than that and you may need to rotate the blade a little to get it to slice through. They seem tough enough for the job, not the best build quality, but what can you expect for under 6 (current price). The only minor complaint is that the safety lug that slides forward is a bit sticky and needs a bit of pressure to get it to engage to lock the jaws shut. If not done right the jaws could pop open. Other than that they are good for the price.

Way better than my previous secateurs, which were terrible. A single blade that is razor sharp. The blade concentrates the force while cushioning against a soft plastic insert between the opposing metal part. Cuts very well, tested on my eucalyptus tree. Only critisism, the locking switch is a little soft and confusing on first use. I’m sure will loosen up a little over time.

    Super sharp snippe

Pruning Shears. This is a very well engineered product and one that does its job very well.

There are many varieties of garden shears on the market today , some that work well and some that don’t. These definitely work and I would advise caution if you are not used to them.

Manufactured from high quality carbon steel they can a 20mm branch with very little effort. Maintenance is simple, just wipe with a cloth and a drop of oil and store in a dry place.

    Keep away from children

    Very good value.

These are light and easy to handle. They cut through plants and softwood very easily and the blade looks good quality and should sharpen up well when it eventually dulls. The integral spring works well in returning them to the open position so they are ready to cut again. I have had issues with similar products where the spring has catapulted into the undergrowth rendering them useless. Only extended use will expose this potential weakness.
One issue is I can’t get them to lock closed as the catch won’t go up far enough. This would be a problem if you carry them in a pocket and generally doesn’t inspire confidence in the overall build…we’ll see.

This is an excellent pair of pruning shears/secateurs. The blade is sharp, and will cit light branches easily. This pair os shears has a couple of features i really like. First the grip is soft and no slip so very comfortable for a lot of use, and secondly i like the slider lock – much easier to use than the fiddly catch on many pair of secateurs.

This seems to be fairly priced for a pair of secataurs that should lat for a long time
