Excellent alternative to the more pricey ring doorbell. No monthly subscription just a memory card needed. E excellent sensitivity, night vision good. Playback excellent. Would recommend.

Good doorbell camera but questions on the charge. I have charged this up for the second time now and doesn’t seem to go above 70% battery. Not sure what I can do about this ?

Really easy to set up this video doorbell with the app, the image and audio quality is good and the smartphones app is solid and easy to ad the device to is, the app can be used with many devices.
I did write a much longer review of this but amazon rejected then deleted it and I didn’t ave it this is why this is a much shorter review.

I have been using a smart doorbell for last couple of years and although I am satisfied by how it works in normal usage, I really hate the fact that they have a monthly fee to access older notifications and recordings. When I saw this, I wanted to really try it out and see if it can work as smoothly as my old doorbell while offering me ability to view older recordings.

After using this smart doorbell for a few weeks now, I can happily report that I am really impressed with the quality of this product!

When the item arrived, it was neatly packed and initial thoughts were the build quality seemed really good. There’s a USB charger, manual, screws etc. and some useful tools for helping you out (screwdriver, adhesive strips, pin for the reset button).

Reading through the manual I followed the instructions to set up the doorbell which was really simple and worked first time. Basically just download the app, get the doorbell to read the QR code on the app and that was it. Created an account on the app which was also quick and easy.

Then going through the app, there are various settings to tailor to your needs. Turned on motion detection, set recording lengths, choose between local storage/cloud storage etc. I then set up notifications to how I wanted them.

I opted for the adhesive strips myself, which took two minutes to install onto my door frame, and stuck really well. I then plugged the chime in and that was an easy 30 seconds to set it up following the instructions.

I ran a few tests on the doorbell, all worked as expected – motion detection, pressing the doorbell, two-way intercom. You can switch between SD or HD in the app as well.

I initially thought that as it is from a lesser known brand, it might suffer from some lag while connecting to wi-fi or providing the notifications of any movements or doorbell presses. But this has been working like a charm and with almost same reliability as my previous doorbell.

You can go into the app any time and see the live camera, which includes sound as well. The notifications are good when there is motion detection and also when someone presses the doorbell it’s shows a picture as the notification comes through on your phone.

The best part is that it automatically records a 30 second clip when motion is detected or doorbell button is pressed. I have installed a SD card to save the recordings and you can easily view the recordings through the app which is such a big improvement.

i have not tried out the connection with the smart speakers to provide a notification of the bell press as that seems a bit complicated and it was not properly explained in the manual but I will update the review once I have tried that out.

Overall, I think this is a big improvement from my previous doorbell mainly due to the ability to access the recordings. So far so good!

A very decent doorbell which provides an overall good image whether used at daytime or night-time. It’s good that you can save to a memory card and also that you have the option to either run this doorbell from the mains or via the included battery. A consideration though is how reliable your internet connection is. If like mine it’s not so good then this will impact upon the connectivity of the doorbell, receiver and app.

This is a good alternative to more expensive units. The picture quality is more than adequate and it has the distinct advantage of being able to store to a memory card. None of these units is exactly slim. It does everything the more expensive units do such as motion detection and talk via your phone etc. All in all much better value than some.

The Link2Home smart doorbell is built with high quality material. Looks nice and feels durable.

Installation is easy with easy to read/understand instructions.

I first charger the batteries which only seem to charge around 70% no matter how long I leave them charging!! I then installed the app. Initially when I tried to pair the doorbell to the app it failed because my phone couldn’t scan the QR code!! This was very disappointing! Then, I read some of the reviews and one of the vine reviewers (Mr or Ms. Chopper) had reported the same problem which was due to dark mode on the phone which I was using too! So putting my phone on normal mode solved the problem and I could pair the doorbell with the app!

Picture (day and night) and 2 way sound quality is reasonablly good. The notifications are instant and I love it that I can also pair the doorbell with my Amazon echo show.

I have now been using the doorbell for about 10 days now. So far so good. These past few nights the we had outside temperature drop below 0. The doorbell worked well in freezing temperatures so far.

There is doorbell chime that you can buy and connect to the doorbell which sounds like a good idea!

In conclusion, this is nice solid doorbell. The battery indicator seems strange a bit since it won’t go higher than 70% but other than that it has been working well so far.

First impressions of this were good, I like how smart the doorbell is and everything seems well made. The instructions are easy to follow and don’t have too many steps in which is handy. There’s no shared information from this unit unlike some others on the market which is a big plus for me.

It’s a bit bigger than I’d of liked so it is quite noticeable on the doorstep and does stand out a lot more than our previous “normal” doorbell which blended in quite well.

The main thing I like about it is the options it gives you. You can either stick it up with tape or screw it to the door frame. You can also either have it connected to the mains power or choose to use the rechargeable battery included and charge the unit in the house when necessary, so you can really do what suits you. As I wasn’t sure quite where I wanted it installed and for ease I went with the tape and rechargeable battery option. Once I’d downloaded the app and connected the doorbell to the wifi and app I could then simply stick the doorbell where I wanted and I was good to go, it was really that simple.

In use the doorbell works well. My phone sends an alarm straight away, but it’s a shame that it takes a little while for the camera to load up as I would prefer to see whose there immediately. Saying that when you can see the picture the quality is great, it’s very crisp and clear. Also the night vision is brilliant.

I occasionally use it to check to see if somebody’s there when I’m expecting a delivery or the dog randomly starts barking. Unfortunately it does normally take me 2 attempts to make this work which isn’t ideal.

So far the battery has lasted 2 weeks now but the battery indicator is on a low percentage so will need charging soon. That may get annoying but it does have the wired route instead so we can always look to do that in future.

Overall I’m pleased with it, the pros definitely outweigh the cons with this and I think it seems good value for money so I’d be happy to recommend it.

Love how you can chose to have it wired or battery operated..

This smart doorbell has some highlights which I like a lot:
    1. The hardware quality is high and design looks good. Wall mounted kit is included for easy installation.
    2. It comes with 2 x 18650 high capacity chargeable batteries, which can be lasted at least 3 months in my case. Besides, you can just replaced with another two spare 18650 batteries (just costs few pounds on many web site) straight away. Then, the doorbell resumes quickly without cost you lots of time and money.
    3. Very easy setup to get connected with the mobile App: Tuya smart which we have used with other smart devices such as sockets and bulbs. All in one App, easy and clear!
    4. Considering the notifications in the App on both of my iPad and Android mobile phones, it shows:
Visitor when someone ring the bell, movement (by PIR sensor)
Surprisingly, my Alexa Echo dot will speak out the notification when someone ring the doorbell which is amazing!

Other good thing is a video recording like normal IP Cam which record all in SD card (not included) or cloud (need subscription) when the door bell sense anything. However, you could not set it as a IP Camera which does schedule long recording which the factory should consider this additional feature.

Finally, since it is a WiFi doorbell, the delay sometimes takes more than 3 second after someone ring the doorbell. This could be improved.

    I find it useful

I requested a test and evaluation sample of this doorbell to test its operation under the Tuya / Smartlife software platform, which I use for several other home automation devices. ALL the following remarks apply to that system…

The doorbell itself appears to be of good build quality. It is powered by two 18650 rechargeable batteries, for a total of 6700 mAh. This should be more than adequate for several months of wire-free operation — although a slight concern is that the displayed battery capacity is shown as “70%”, even after being fully charged. A protection rating of IP54 (dust ingress, and water splashing) is claimed on the packaging. On inspection, I noted that the battery compartment lid IS sealed by a thin flexible gasket. Even so, it’s likely that this doorbell would last longer under some kind of shelter, such as a front porch. A plastic (LDPE) mounting cradle is provided, which would provide additional rain shelter. The cradle includes contacts for connecting an external 12vdc power source, this was not tested.

The video image quality is surprisingly good — visibly better than a certain “big name” device of similar appearance which is sold at a much higher price point. The camera works well at low light levels. A single infra-red LED can be set to come on automatically and this works correctly — although its range is somewhat limited. Movement detection is provided by an integrated PIR sensor, This can be switched off, or its sensitivity adjusted in the app. A nice feature is that the actual bell push button lights up (in blue) when it detects someone approaching the door.

In operation with Smartlife, the doorbell proved easy to set up. It connects over 2.4Ghz wi-fi and the range is good: I tested with the device in several locations up to 55m (and several walls) from the wi-fi access point and connection remained stable. However, a compatibility issue arose when running the app on an Android 10 phone… The app creates a very large number of push notification streams (it’s not clear WHY there are so many) and these try to define a notification tone of different doorbell sounds, directly from the app. This works fine on older versions of Android BUT, for security reasons, Android Ver10 does not allow external devices to apply their own notification sound — they have to be selected by the user. Initially, this meant that there was no bell ringing tone on my Samsung Galaxy S10 phone. I eventually managed to sort this out, but the underlying problem needs to be corrected by the manufacturer.

[Update 9/01/21 – Shortly after this and other reviews were posted, a firmware revision was released for this doorbell which appears to fix the incorrect battery display.]

Good points: Good value, excellent image quality. Works with voice assistants.

Bad points: Firmware needs revision for use with the latest phones and tablets.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI gave my, long-suffering, wife the good news. After 30 years we were going to have a doorbell. In point of fact, a bit like waiting for a bus, this is the second wonderful doorbell that Duncurin has been lucky enough to test out. The previous one from Owlet is excellent, so excellent in fact that my daughter asked me no sooner than I’d installed and reviewed it whether she could snaffle it for her new house.
This offering from Link2Home is a similar piece of kit with very similar attributes. Here are some thoughts:
It’s easy to install and also although there is an option for an AC power feed and terminals on the wall side of the back plate for the wires to attach to — it is perfectly at home without a power feed as it has two rather meaty rechargeable batteries to keep it powered up.
Charging the unit is wise before you install and the capacity of the batteries means this will take a few hours. All charging cables (micro USB) and mains adapter are provided.
The battery charge is shown on your mobile phone or monitoring device but although, and after a full charge, I have a solid green line in the battery indicator, it stubbornly shows this is 70% – so I will have to keep an eye on this.
The doorbell fits in a cradle that is mounted on the wall. The cradle has two countersunk screw holes on the back plate which act as a template. Sticky pads or screws and wall plugs are provided. Be careful with the screws as they really need to be driven ‘home’ or otherwise the unit won’t locate within the housing properly and then you won’t be able to screw up from below the locking screw to prevent theft of your unit!
There is a little plastic sleeve where you can put a card of your address. This would be useful if you live in a flat or a confusing address like ours. The trouble is that it’s a bit tatty and obviously included as an afterthought. I think having a dedicated place for it on the front of the bell unit which illuminates as one presses the bell would be better. You can see the edge of it in one of the photos above the unit.
Installation of the software was easy enough, on paper. You scan a QR code to your phone or ipad and this then locates the correct App — so useful in these times when we are encouraged to download all sorts of things whether we want/need them or not! It then took me three goes to pair and install the doorbell and the reason for this is that you need to hear a shrill ping from the doorbell to say that it’s paired before you go on or you will just have to start from scratch anyway.
Once installed, use is intuitive and gives all the functions one needs from a smart doorbell. Cloud storage is an extra that has to be paid for. There is no free trial period (I think) which is a shame. Also and more seriously there is no Micro SD card included which is something of a bigger shame as I think although your mobile or ipad will store the information I think a dedicated card within the bell itself is better.
One area that I was worried about was addition of extra devices to monitor said doorbell. There’s no point in having it on your phone if you are round the Trafford Centre and the wife is knitting at home — or more likely the opposite way round! For this reason, I added it also to the ipad and this was easy though be careful as when you enter your email details to upload the software it is case sensitive and I had to reset it and also reset my phone password in order to renew access.
As you’ll all know/realise there is a vast array of Link2Home accessories these days as with most smart doorbells. There is also Google and Alexa compatibility which I guess is also essential these days. So, your humble doorbell could form the start of a home automation system throughout your home – or you could just use it as a doorbell!
Functionality and quality of vision is excellent both by night and by day. Please find a couple of photos of night view, the (very pleasant and polite) Amazon delivery chap at the door and the view of the doorbell itself. You’ll see too, the width of the view shows some of the inside of the porch so mounting on an outside wall would give an even better view. As regards star rating. I’d be inclined at first instinct to go 4 stars but to be fair, it is cheaper and also offers wire-free-power operation than the Owlet device (5 stars) which does offer the trial cloud storage and comes with a micro SD card — so for now I’ll round it up, 5 stars, in recognition of its better value for money and battery operation. Many thanks.

I’ve been after a video doorbell for some time now but wasn’t sure which to go with.

I decided to give this a whirl and I’m actually quite impressed. Build quality is good and it comes with everything you need to set up. I love that it’s battery powered as I don’t have a doorbell at present and was concerned about the wiring side of things. This uses 2 x 18650 batteries which I love, as its the same batteries I use for my vaping equipment and I know how good they are.

Installation and configuration was simple and once I’d downloaded the tuya app, I noticed it was the same layout as the “go smart” app that a lot of my other devices use, so I tried to connect it to that and it worked perfectly. This is ideal for me as it means all my devices are in one app.

Video quality is surprisingly good as has a very wide FOV. One area that’s not as good as I’d like is the audio. It’s not bad but it’s not amazing either. Average I’d say.

All notifications came through quickly but as I have my phone on “do not disturb” mode 24/7, I had to add the app as an exemption so it would make noise. Not a huge issue, just an extra step.

One negative I can see (that doesn’t apply to me) is connecting to a physical chime. It seems you can only use the Tuya chime to connect to this so bare that in mind that your existing chime probably won’t work. Not a problem for me as I don’t have one and I know that chimes are generally the most difficult thing to pair with on smart doorbells, so factor in you’d need the Tuya one.

All around a good alternative to the big brand doorbells and it does 95% of that a more expensive doorbell would do and it also has a few extra features like recording to SD card that some of the more expensive units do not. You also have the option for cloud backup but this is at an extra cost.

A good alternative to the big brands.

This is a very well made wireless WiFi doorbell. It connects up to the Link2Home Pro app easily by showing it a QR code from your phone. The app looks like a rebrand of the Tuya Smart app. For me it connected up first time and instantly sprang to life.

The image is high resolution and very clear. Easily good enough to recognise who’s standing at your door. In my testing so far the notifications have all come through promptly when you ring the bell, prompting you to connect to it to see who’s there.

The fact that it records locally to a micro SD card is great as it means you have the option of avoiding expensive subscriptions for cloud storage, however it also means that if someone steals or destroys the doorbell you also lose the recorded evidence. There is also an option for cloud storage (at extra cost) though for added peace of mind if you prefer.

Getting technical for a second, the app finds and connects to the camera via a server on the Internet even if you’re at home and connected to the same WiFi network. This means it won’t work without an Internet connection even when you’re at home, which is a shame as personally I prefer (for security reasons) to prevent network devices from connecting to the Internet unless absolutely necessary. However I suspect I’m more paranoid than most people about that and there are some obvious advantages to keeping it connected. It just means you need to decide whether you trust the manufacturer to keep it secure. The same is true of most similar devices.

Using it via the app is great. It connects quickly, gives a good picture and allows two-way speech so you can talk to the person at the door.
