Moved back from Canada to UK after 10 years. This converter is in my kitchen and means I could use my Kitchen Aid stand mixer, popcorn machine, hand mixer and food processor without having to replace them with expensive uk versions.
I’d looked longingly at Japanese small kitchen appliances for a couple of years but only recently took the plunge and bought a converter so I could indulge myself. Amazon Japan’s appliance prices + this converter = happy cook. I’ve been running it continuously for a few days making stuff that requires very long cooking or incubation times (e.g. miso, natto, amazake) and the transformer’s been as good as gold. Japanese plugs fit it securely — no wobbling around. It’s very well made and I rather like the no-nonsense industrial look it gives the kitchen. Wish I’d bought one sooner!
I’m really sure will enjoy using it in Ghana when I get there for my holiday soo
Using it for a 600W KitchenAid mixer bought in Canada.
As a very tech-obsessed person, moving from the US to the UK made me a bit nervous. What if we couldn’t find decent converters? What if the converters messed up our devices?
Fear not. This solved our issues. We have THREE of them now just because they work so well. We use one in the front room, one in the kitchen, and one in the office.
The one in the office is fine, it is not running anything particularly spectacular on that one other than a monitor, USB charger, and laptop.
It doesn’t seem to be powerful enough for our huge US microwave (either that or the microwave didn’t survive the trip overseas, it really is impossible to tell at this point), but that seems to be the limit. It runs our George Foreman Grill, four slice toaster, and blender just fine. Haven’t tried doing all three simultaneously yet, but I don’t expect to.
In the front room I am running my PS4, TV, Nintendo Switch, Laptop, second monitor, and HP Laser Printer all off of ONE of these, as well as my Anker USB charger, internet hub, two ethernet switches, and a Google Stadia. No problem.
I did try two other power converters when we came out here. At one point, I had this thing, a smaller wall wart I picked up in the US before we left, and a smaller one more like a surge protector. This is the only one that was any good. The wall wart popped a fuse twice, the second time catching on fire. The “surge protector” gave off an EM field or something that made anything with a touch screen freak out with phantom screen taps. That’s why we only use this thing now.
Great for my tools which I needed to which are 110v against my power output of 240v
I bought a US percolator on Ebay as currently I could not buy a percolator here in the UK without a 35/40 minute cut-out built in to it. I needed this step-down transformer in order to work the US perc on UK 240 voltage. A long winded way of acquiring a percolator but I wanted a percolator that stayed on all day. This was ideal for my needs.
Tried it out and seems ok, time will tell, neat little unit!
My transformer blew up. So have to buy a bigger capacity one to replace it. This one is rather easy to set up. My electronics are all back up running again. Happy.
We have been using it in the UK and it has allowed us to use a US rice cooker.
I purchased this to use with a 900w quesadilla maker, which only seem to be available in the US. Works perfectly, with no annoying hum. Would recommend if you are considering buying kitchen appliances from Amazon.com.
Does exactly what I needed it for (powering 110v rack equipment in U.K.).
Sturdy metal casing and quiet in use.
Works as described, the only downsize is one of the 110v plug output seems very loose, I plug in an American socket and it is loose the other one fits in snug.
