Remarkable tent.
Space inside is huge. Plenty of space in the inner mesh and in the other bit. Always guy it out, as it pulls the sides and gives more space.
Really lightweight. And is easily compressed to make it small. E.g. I now carry it in an old sleeping bag stuff sack. Take it out when not backpacking tho.
Very waterproof. I’ve had it out during a lot of rain in Scotland. No leaks.
Very windproof. Due to the shape it’s very stable. Position the guys toward the wind, and your be golden. This also means the door is away from the wind.
It does have a condensation issue. However, it’s no worse than any other sil nylon tent. It’s just the way of them. Take a small sponge if it does worry you.
Don’t worry about all the YouTube guys possibly getting this for free, and giving good reviews due to that. It is a great tent. Packs up really small, weights very little, and provides an absolute ton of space.
Remarkable tent. Insane value.
Next step, hot tenting!
I’ve used this tent a few times now and I do like the design of it but sadly I found that the line locks are so loose, the slightest gust of wind and I find myself having to go out and tighten them.
It is waterproof to a point, anything more than a few showers and it sags and then leaks water in.
The inner mesh is huge, you have a lot of room inside the sleeping area which is great if you are tall bit once again the line locks let it down as they loosen and the mesh starts to sag inwards onto you which then negates all the space you initially thought you had.
On the whole I think onetigris is a good company and they are trying to create tents that apeal to hikers and bushcraft lovers alike, they are not quite there yet but I look forward to the time when they are.
Not tried it yet . Should be good according to You Tube .
Have put it up . Well made product for the price . Nice inner tent and stove Jack .
Didn’t get to test it outside yet as I returned the tent unused as I wanted the brown tent but wasn’t available at the time. But looked at it in living room and all seemed great out of the box. Only negative is i wish stuff sack was a bit bigger, but when is that not the case?
Very impressed with the quality of these tents for the low price. Next trip have now set up guy lines to attach quickly to pull out the middle points and this gives much more space inside. People complain about the stove jack not being included but at the price point of this tent it is still a good deal with jack as an extra for 15. For one person is a palace with lots of space to relax by the stove and then half the tent space as bed space away from bugs. Winter time without the inner could sleep 2 with stove and 3 without.
Pitched up this tent before bad weather forecast of 50mph wind and heavy torrential rain. Apart from pitching on a pre-muddy patch, it kept us dry and it was especially warm with the stove in there. Only problem was the wind, which came through the gaps on the bottom of the tent…but with a stove, probably best to leave it open a bit for circulation. Very spacious tent, no dripping from the seams or vents. Condensation does build up though but does not cause too many problems. Overall – highly recommended!
Love the tent.. returned due to small defect but none left to replace it. Shame as I wanted another of the same but have found a good replacement I’m happy with..
Would defo buy again.
This is a perfect tent for wild camping or even on a campsite- packs up small but is more than big enough for 2 people and there gear- kept us dry and warm when we went camping and it started to rain- 10/10 would recommend
Me and my wife for one of these to see if we could both fit in the inner nest we can I’m a big lad 6’2″ and 200lbs but we both fit in our thermarest mats with space either end for our bags and space in the apex at th very rear of the nest for the dog it is a tight squeeze but if your with your spouse plenty of room
Pro’s:
Pitching is quick and easy, I used small bungee straps on the stake points and it centered itself immediately first time out. Using bungee straps also let’s you reuse the same peg for the 5x guy lines, which saves pegs if it’s not too windy.
The inner tent is impressively spacious for 1 person and well thought-out touches everywhere. You could get two people on mats in here in a squeeze and still have some room for some kit.
Adjustable stake points everywhere are a god-send, while locking guy line adjusters are very effective.
Stitching and seam sealing quality throughout is brilliant, 1st class as far as I’ve seen.
The fabric seems surprisingly strong for how thin it is, with a little elasticity to it which is good. The slick feeling of that silnylon fabric seems to laugh in the face of british rainfall which is reassuring.
Almost everyone that came for a look at it was very surprised at how little it cost for the quality of it.
The tent bags, including pole and peg bags, are all very well made and feel sturdy.
Onetigris’s own stove jack fits perfectly and was effortless to add on.
Vastly outperforms every single tent I’ve owned so far, across the board. Weight (or lack of!), ease of use, practicality, workmanship, everything. It decimated all. This is a tent made by people that KNOW and listen to what people need in a tent.
Con’s:
Very minor, but for ‘coyote brown’ it seems a bit dark green to my aging eyes, but I don’t really care because it still looks good and has a sort of ‘military grade’ appearance to it which appeals to me.
Zipper pulls are very small and difficult to see/find at night, I replaced with loops of yellow paracord.
The included pegs are lightweight, but I’m not sure I can trust them. Bivvy pegs still preferred.
Because it’s a heptagon shape with 7 sides, it’s difficult to get a footprint sheet to fit. I got decent results with a Hikeman hexagon (large) footprint sheet, but I hope Onetigris comes out with one made for this.
It could really use some hanging loops for tying up a lantern etc. inside the inner tent.
The pole could use a nylon foot on it to stop it sinking into the ground, but a rock works in a pinch. My pole also had some dodgy finishing on one of the connectors which made it stick tight on occasion, easily fixed with a bit of sandpaper but it was annoying. Possible QC issue? Minor flaw at best.
I wish the stove jack was included with it, even if it brought the price up a little.
Overall:
Excellent tent with a few minor niggles (show me a tent which doesn’t have issues) but most of which were easily fixed with an hour’s fiddling around.
Seems dependable and rugged despite it’s surprisingly light weight (seriously, my mess kit weighs more than this tent) and packs down small, yet when it’s pitched it’s comfortably cosy without being claustrophobic like some dome and popup tents I’ve used in the past.
Compared against other 1-person tents on the market for the same weight/price, it’s really big and spacious without being over the top. I’ve yet to test it in the rain, but I feel far more confident than before that it’ll keep me and my kit dry and that’s more-or-less straight out of the box.
The silnylon fabric is thin enough to allow in a decent amount of natural light, so it’s not particularly dark inside the tent, but still a useful amount of shade when it’s very sunny.
Light & compact to carry. Quick & easy to put up. Good head clearance when inside & fairly roomy for one average size adult, cosy but not cramped for two. Stayed absolutely dry inside during overnight downpour. No drips into flyscreen/ groundsheet area. Havent tried it with a stove inside yet, and may update this review if & when i do.
Would definitely recommend this tent, and would buy again if ever i need to.
This product I amazing it’s so lightweight and compact you can take it anywhere with you. If mine broke I would buy another one tomorrow, cracking backpackers tent or if you love bushcraft.
The stove I use Is heavy , so I only use this as a hot tent near my car. I have used it as a stand alone tent for more remote adventures . It is “roomy” as a one man tent . It needs a fairly large area to pitch. Pitching is simple and can be done extremely quickly. The tent is light although I prefer to carry an additional tarpolin because the bath tub sheet in the tent is quite thin. Overall I think this is a brilliant tent.
Not a bad tent but the storage bag is not very good it ripped when putting it back in first time using i
Seriously lightweight, packs well, if a bit slippery! Being a mesh inner tent, it is not warm in the slightest unless you use a small stove. Extremely good value for money. Quick and easy to put up although you may wish to add small cord loops to the pegs and use a small load spreader to stop the pole from sinking. A perfect size for one person or two smaller people. The only negative point I have is the method of tightening the peg cords is a bit poor, clever, but not the best. I was finding that they would randomly ‘pop’ undone causing flapping of the fly.
I have not tested this tent yet as I have just received it. First impressions however from unboxing it are positive. The tent itself is lightweight, it’s seam sealed and it comes with a pole/pegs/guy lines. The zippers are ok.
The inner (mesh bug net) is the new version (opening away from the stove), however the floor is quite thin and I would definitely recommend using a footprint, particularly in the winter and/or on wet soil.
Slightly disappointing, both the tent and the inner come in a single compression sack. Given how cheap they are I would have expected both parts to have their own.
That aside, it is good value for money compared to other brands.
Will update this review once I have tested the tent properly.
Excellent service from Chris. Chris went above & beyond to sort out a new sack as the one that we originally received had split. Prompt & friendly service. Highly recommend. We have yet to use our new tent, but feel sure that it will be first class!
Love this tent and wish I’d gotten it sooner,it’s lightweight and packs down tiny, especially when only carrying the outer.you don’t even have to take the centre pole if you don’t want to.my outbacker stove fits inside but it’s overkill for inside there so a much smaller stove will heat this tent up easily.very happy with it and even thinking about buying the baker tent.
Well what can I say! Good tent, it’s my first hot tent and I’m happy, iv learned with one Tigris they are a fairly good quality brand! It’s my second tent and I’m happy! Just need a smaller stove as the one I have means I can’t use the inner!
This is the best tent I own, it’s extremely lightweight and packs very small. It’s withstood all weather and heats up amazingly when combined with a wood burner.
The inner mesh is huge for one person.
It has made my other tents redundant.
Dislike no snow skirt means draught underneath. Like the weight. Does not come with stove jack
Great night out in this, as long as you have proper sleeping bag and thermal ground sheet I found it warm and roomy for me and my dog.
Very well made, lightweight great thought has gone into its desig
Well made strong tent, spacious, the brown is a darker shade a looks great, the packability is a good point and it can be separated down to make easier packing or to enable lighter pack weight with just the fly or in conjunction with trekking pole and extentions if you have them, large footprint so getting flat ground can be a challenge but if you play around with set up on uneven ground a good pitch can be achieved under most conditions. Stands up well in wind when fully guyed and pegged, good to sit in on a rainy day with the door open and especially if you use a tarp as a porch, works well with a small folding stove on tick over, really doesn’t take much to keep a comfortable heat.
Note: The pictures do not show the inner mesh that comes supplied with the tent!!
We are so pleased with this tent. It’s really spacious and fits two people easily (either side of the pole) with room to spare. After overnight hiking with a tent we couldn’t sit up in, this tent is a joy. The pictures are of the third time we pitched it, and it was the first time we achieved the perfect shape, it does need a few practice pitches but it’s worth the perseverance. We’ve only experienced light rain when using it, and there was some condensation, but I’m a large unit, and I generate a lot of body heat, so maybe that caused it.
Great piece of kit, super lightweight and easy to set up. Held up very well in 2 days of gusting winds rain without any significant issue. Plenty of space for 1 with a camped inside the inner tent, could also fit 2 on mats although probably less comfortably. For winter camping there would be plenty of space for 2.
Only 2 flaws that I feel worth highlighting, the sealing/waterproofing around the stove hole leaves something to be desired, there was some minor leaking through the velcro and inside the tent due to this, although considering the conditions it overall held up very well.
The only other flaw were the stakes provided, they were unfortunately lacking in sufficient number to fully stakeout with all the guidelines that are supplied and were easily bent when pitching on harder ground so will be buying some stronger ones separately.
Overall definitely a 5 star tent despite a couple minor issues.
Full disclosure I have yet to use the tent this is just an initial unboxing review.
Item was received very promptly and I was amazed how lightweight it felt. The tent comes in a fairly thin stuff sack, I’m not sure how much use it will hold up to given time. Not a big issue as I generally repack into a dry bag anyway.
Upon unpacking my initial view of the tent is that the material is much thinner than expected. The material used with my DD tarps seems much more hard wearing (as much as a poly tarp can be) so I’m still not sure how this will hold up to long term use. With care I’m sure it’ll be fine.
Inspecting the inner tent confirmed that I did receive the latest version which has the opening on the left. Earlier versions had a design flaw which had the door on the right therefore preventing use with a stove. I understand the original intention was for the inner only to be used in the summer (bug season) and until I knew about the newer version, wasn’t a big issue for me. It is good to know that we have a more flexible option.
I’m 6″1′ and the tent pole comes up to just below my chin if this gives an idea of height. I’m looking forward to trying out the tent and potentially even being able to set on a “low” chair inside the tent which will be a big improvement over the Polish Army Lavvu I’ve been using up until now.
Once I’ve had a chance to use the tent the review will be updated.
Really can’t say enough about this tent and the quality ….. also how easy it is to put up (literally a few minutes) plenty of room to comfortably sleep two … three at push also they have changed the inner section so the door is the opposite to the stove jack although I would personally not have the inner when I’m running the stove … I’ll probably only ever use the inner in the summer months as it has a bug net … ideal for in the woods
Used this tent on the 20th of June it was a very windy stormy night, the tent stood up like a champ to the weather I would recommend you set up as a practice before heading out, I have seen complaints about the inner fly mosquito netting having the zip on the right side where the stove jack opening is, my inner fly has it on the left I think onetigris made the change and I have the newer version. Two people is a squeeze but for 1 it has plenty of room! I don’t think in winter using a stove and having the inner fly mosquito net makes any sense!
I think it’s a brilliant value and a tough tent for bad conditions. So 5 Stars.
Outstanding tent light, and very well made. I would recommend this tent to anyone I’m very happy with.
Great tent I even managed to sit on my chair inside when it rained with the door open and still didn’t get wet. Easy to put up and down also.
Good size tent without the inner you could get 3 people in but 2 with gear easy.
With the inner it would be tight for two but doable if your slim and athletic ( I’m a big lad). well made comes with pegs and guy lines. And pole.
