Ottocast wireless Adapter has worked great for the last 9 months. Touchscreen interface is excellent with no lag at all. Steering wheel controls work perfectly and sound quality is great. Customer service is excellent as well.
Installed this in my new Kia Niro to save having to plug in my phone to use Apple CarPlay and it works perfectly. Cannot fault it.
Amy, in customer service, was very helpful when I reached out to [email protected]. I was having trouble pairing the device to my car and Amy provided detailed instructions to resolve the issue. I love my OTTOCAST U2 CarPlay wireless device! Thank you, Amy!
I purchased this product fully expecting to be somewhat dissapointed having read up many reviews for many different products offering to convert wired CarPlay into wireless CarPlay but I thought I’d give it the benefit of the doubt anyway.
I have to say that for me this device has performed almost faultlessly, my job sees many short journeys & I lock my laptop away in the boot for security, this means my personal phone, work phone, wallet etc often gets put in the boot too meaning that it’s mostly impractical to plug my iPhone in every time.
I’d not even considered the benefits of wireless CarPlay until a recently holiday in the US, our hire car had this feature & I found it very convenient & knew I wanted it also for my own car, I now know that whatever car I purchase next needs to have wireless CarPlay as standard, but for now the Ottocast U2-Air is a really good compromise.
The good:-
-I’ve never had it fail to connect yet, sometimes it connects very quickly, sometimes it can take a couple of minutes but it’ll aways eventually connect.
-Audio quality is indistiguisable from a wired connection.
-Telephone calls have minimal lag if at all, very useable.
-Navigation doesn’t appear to be lagging behind (you wont miss your next turn etc)
-Benefits of wireless connectivity far outweigh any minor niggles mentioned below.
The not-quite so good:-
-slight lag when changing audio tracks, maybe up to a second, however the album art changes instantly so you know you’ve pressed the button ok – you get used to this & apparently all wireless CarPlay adapters do this regardless of the brand.
-I’ve had the U2-Air spontatiously reboot once but it came back all on its own.
-Ive had the U2-Air lock up once, I just turned off my HU as this removes power from the USB port powering the U2-Air & turned on the HU again – all came back ok.
All in all, I wouldn’t be without wireless CarPlay now, for my use case (many short journeys) the convenience for being wireless is a game changer in how I use CarPlay, I’m now enjoying Audiobooks whilst driving.
I’ve not done a journey of longer than an hour whilst using the U2-Air which behaved faultlessly, I understand about 2 hours is the limit for any brand of wireless CarPlay adapter before they reboot/lock up, however, for any long journey I’d probably revert to a cabled connection anyway if only just to keep my phone charged up.
I hope this helps you make up your mind, if I could put things into a percentage I’d say I’m 95% happy with the U2-Air which is much higher than I’d hoped for.
For reference, my HU is a an aftermarket Kenwood DMX7017DABS unit, for which the Kenwood’s native UI is dire but I rarely see it now as I’m almost exclusivlely using CarPlay.
PS I’m not sponsored by or associated with Ottocast, I paid for my U2-Air myself
It works amazing. The first time I turned it on everything was pixelated and you couldn’t see it. But after that i haven’t had this problem as of yet. It works really well. It’s nice to have wireless CarPlay because I’m in and out of the truck 30 times a day. It’s nice to just have my phone connect without ruining the ports.
Small, compact (smaller than my iPhone). After plugging into the USB-C adapter (very short and properly-sized cable included), the device took about 30 seconds to acknowledge my car and then connect to my iPhone. Now, when I enter my car, the pick-up is automatically done. I no longer need to connect my iPhone to the USB-C plug.
This is the second U2-Now I have purchased, since I was so impressed with the first one because of the instant convenience of wireless CarPlay. Now both cars have it!
Yes, the boot up and connection time is a bit surprising at first, but I typically get 20-30 seconds which you soon get used to. Yes, there’s around a 1 second lag with the music controls, but again you get used to that.
Six months into owning this I ran into problems with this second unit (the first one was running great and had completed the recent update which allows fine-tuning of the settings, including naming the Bluetooth and WiFi connections which is great). The connection process became hit and miss, until it eventually gave up.
I contacted Ottocast and within 24hrs I had my first very helpful reply from Amy. We maintained a daily dialogue where she provided detailed advice and I fed back accordingly. After various failed attempts to revive the unit, Amy offered a replacement free-of-charge, which I accepted.
Two days later, it arrived – the newer model U2-Air with improved boot up, connection and audio control response times!
Problem solved and normal (and even better) wireless CarPlay service resumed!!
Thank you Amy for your faultless support and dedication to resolving this to my complete satisfactio
I generally like this adapter. I wish my Subaru Forester came with the option of wireless CarPlay so I didn’t have to take my phone in and out of my purse to plug it in each time. It does take a beat to connect but it’s a solid option right now. My main issue is that the Bluetooth will reconnect after my car is turned off. It’s not an issue if I’m listening to music/a podcast, but it’s majorly inconvenient if you’re on a call with someone. You can switch to iPhone/Speaker mode but my phone then reconnects to CarPlay and usually causes some confusion for me/the person I’m speaking with.
Very compact and easy to conceal below the dashboard. All CarPlay functions seem to work and the unit connects automatically when powering up the car. Graphics are OK. There is a delay of about three seconds before audio connects when receiving an incoming phone call. On balance it is a very functional product but seems a little expensive. One wonders why Hyundai and Kia did not incorporate wireless CarPlay with their infotainment systems since they have wireless charging.
Updated Review of Ottocast Air:
The updated Ottocast Air is far superior to the original Ottocast. It connects faster to my iPhone and Kenwood headhunt, and the responsiveness has improved dramatically. My only complaint is that I miss the pass thru USB option on the original Ottocast. However, the quick fix is to just unplug the unit, and plug my iPhone through the USB. I do recommend this upgrade over the original.
REVIEW of Original Ottocast: I purchased this unit to connect my iPhone Max to a Kenwood multimedia receiver. I’ve had this unit for 9 months and these are my observations.
1.) There is at least a 2 second delay between sending commands from the steering wheel (volume control, track seek, etc) to my phone responding. This has become tolerable, but it’s still annoying.
2.) In certain areas, the Ottocast loses or drops functionality. I used to think it was my phone or receiver, but I’ve determined it’s specific to certain areas. Driving near old power lines seem to cause the worst interference. The screen becomes inoperable, and the audio drops in and out. This only happens when I’m in wireless mode. My Bluetooth connection remains solid in these areas when I don’t use the Ottocast. I assume that the Ottocast has a poor receiver and isn’t able to discern signals from my iPhone and random background interference from power lines. Most Wi-Fi technology has solved this. Why hasn’t Ottocast.
3.) Connecting to the Ottocast takes time time. It can be anywhere between 15 and 60 seconds. I’ve become accustomed to waiting. If I’m using navigation like Waze, I just make sure to leave it on my phone until the Ottocast finally connects.
I bought this and love it! It took me a day to figure out when first setting it up you need to click on the auto connect otherwise you’ll have to connect your Bluetooth each time but once I figured that out, it works amazing and has about a 30 second delay which isn’t horrible.
This product worked very well, as advertised, until the latest Apple IOS update. I began to experience some intermittent issues with the automatic connection feature, as well as occasional crashing of the unit.
Customer service is very responsive and assistive; they are in the process of sending me the newer model of the adapter to hopefully fix the connectivity issue. I will update further when I have results.
This device installed much more easily than I expected, and just works! Despite its tiny size I had a slight problem fitting it inside the wireless charging cubby on my Kona Electric, so I finally stuck it to the cubby lid using a nano tape adhesive (which ensures it is held tight, but can easily be removed without damage), where it is completely out of the way, so the cubby can still be used for charging my phone – I just don’t need to physically plug it in!
The one downside of accessing CarPlay wirelessly is that it is less responsive than with a wired connection – there can be a slight delay after touching a control before anything happens. However, for the ease of use that’s a small price to pay.
And a word of warning: the USB-C connector is very deeply recessed into the body of the device. The supplied lead will connect, but it can be a little fiddly, as you need to be careful to check it is properly inserted, or it won’t work (or will work only intermittently). Other cables that I tried would not actually connect at all, as the body of the connector was too big to fit into the recess!
Used this one for a Vw Jetta 2016, which is supporting CarPlay by Apple but wired only.
In two words, this device is transforming your media system from wired into wireless connection for CarPlay, as genuinely, Jettas from 2021 and newer are only supporting Wireless CarPlay.
The piece is small, connecting to the USB via a short cable, not directly from the device which is great as different cars are made different. It makes it versatile.
Connecting it wasn’t that painful, even for the first time, pretty easy and the connection appeared to be stable and good so far.
It works as a 5GHz WiFi network so a great connection but compared to 2.4GHz networks, this one supports shorter distance even if bigger amount of data.
Sound and data transfer speed is really good, I’m happy with that.
Cons-
– if it crashes, and it did a few times during several months which is not too bad, it is lost as for me it took to stop and reboot plus reset the connection, that’s not too comfortable and not 100% reliable.
– price. So it is lovely to have all these wireless and stuff but not for 120. It was a lovely experience to test this product and still using it but I wouldn’t buy it only to get rid of cables. So this point will be up to everyone individually.
The U2-NOW is a great device, connected easily to my RAV4 and worked quite well with almost no issues. Unfortunately during a firmware update the device simply “died”, no possibility to repare it. Contacted the Ottocast support and was promptly sent a new device. It appeared to be faulty as well (bad luck) but the Ottocast support tried to find a solution and, ultimately, sent me the new version of the device, the U2-AIR. I haven’t had any issues since. Special thanks for Anna from Ottocast support, she was very professional and didn’t give up before a stable solution was found!
I’ve tried two of these units in my Seat (so it would be the same for Skoda, VW, or Audi). It connects with in about 30 seconds. Maybe once in 8 times you need to pull the USB Lead because it is stuck. When it works it is great, but Waze often gets stuck on its last parked place. I have found no real fix for this. It usually requires a reboot of phone and sometimes the unit.
I’ve now had this for a number of months. It still requires pulling the usb lead every few starts to reboot it. I still have issues with Waze and haven’t found a way to make it work, a reboot of the phone usually fixes it. However, I use it every time I drive instead of only longer drives. I wouldn’t be without it, and if you haven’t got wireless CarPlay hardwired, it is the best solution I’ve found
For once something that does what it says. Ive got a 22 plate MG3. Plugged it onto the car, immediately synced with my phone, and does every time I get in the car. Brilliant device, well pleased not to have to fluff around with cables every time. Buy it you won’t be dissapointed !!!
I used this to make my Volkswagen Golf (2018) a wireless Apple CarPlay as it is currently wired. The product worked great with no concerns. The product always connected to my iPhone with no concerns of use. Siri automatically connected to the buttons on the steering wheel as well. All the capability of the iPhone and in vehicle infotainment at a very easy use and reasonable price. Over the air upgrades very easy to do and customer service is very helpful when needed. I do not regret this purchase.
Item works as advertised. I have not experienced any lag or problems or issues, it’s as if iPhone were directly plugged into the system, which is exactly what I needed it to do. I’ve had it for a few months and it auto connects 99% of the time. On those occasions where it doesn’t seamlessly auto connect, It takes less than 30 seconds to connect from the time I press the CarPlay button on my car’s system. On some rare occasions I have to remove it from the USB port slightly and plug it back in, then business as usual.
I was surprised at how small this widget is – and that’s a good thing. It fits easily within the USB cubby on my centre console (DS7 Crossback) without interfering with closing the lid, so there are no visible wires or clutter. And there’s still room in there to put my iPhone on the charging pad. Someone has thought this through.
Setup was a little hit and miss – the included instructions are a tad ambiguous – but it was pretty easy to work out. I can’t detect any degradation of sound quality from the wired connection.
Connection usually happens automatically within 10 seconds. When it occasionally doesn’t, it’s almost certainly down to the iPhone reminding me that it’s made by Apple. Usually toggling WiFi/Bluetooth in Settings sorts things out.
If you’re getting fed up of groping for cables every time you get in, and forgetting to bring your phone every time you get out, this little gizmo will cure the pain.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that this product worked exactly like advertised. I get in my car and before I back out of my driveway my iPhone connects automatically and Apple CarPlay is up and running. I never have to take my iPhone out of my pocket. All CarPlay features work as if it was connected by wire, but now I have wireless CarPlay. It’s worth every penny!
Perfect for my 2021 Mazda CX-30 using apple car play . I’m on the road a lot and found the cable to be a pain, so I bought this. Almost a month in and no major issues thus far. Plug and play. Interface is the same and works great. Here’s a couple of observations:
-1 or 2 second lag with the manual button control on your car, barely noticeable, but worth mentioning. This includes the “hey Siri” function. Phone calls seem unaffected.
-Uses your wifi on your phone (sometimes you have to disconnect if the car is close enough and you’re in your house (not an issue and the phone prompts you).
-Occasionally I’ve seen it not start up the apple car play app. I’ve simply un plugged and plugged in and it works.
ottocast is one of the leading brands offering carplay along with mirabox and carlinkint 3.0.
this one is the fastest of all. but one thing i would suggest is dont upgrade your firmware if all is working fine. if you can get booting times beteen 8- 15 seconds and the unit is not over heating with no voice skiping and stuttering , i would suggest stick to the firmware that comes with the unit. only start updating firmware in increments if you find issues.
It connects to my iPhone 90% of the time. I’m satisfied
just got it, installed in minutes, works great.
i have seen reviews stating , stopped working after a few weeks?
lets hope for the best !!
would recommend
It just worked. Plugged it in, phone and car noticed each other and bam wireless CarPlay. By the time I’m driving it’s already on the CarPlay screen in my 2019 Corolla Hatchback. Just wish it was cheaper!
Overall gave 4 stars. Disconnect’s an average of once every other drive. That part is a little annoying. Big picture very satisfied with product. Just realize it’s not perfect. Little bit of lag when pushing buttons and the response of device.
Just love this new device. Connects easily and runs CarPlay seamlessly with no wires. Best thing ever. Now I can cancel Sirius.
It occasionally freezes, but can easily be restarted. The added functionality and convenience of wireless is worth any minor compromise.
’21 explorer st with tech package
Operates as described and performs as expected.. glitched a couple of times and needed restarts but that may be the vehicles issue and not the units. Takes in my experience anywhere for 30 – 60 seconds before its fully pared with the vehicle and you can play music, google maps etc..
I have not noticed any measurable delay in music or phone conversations so all good.
Even though wireless CarPlay is coming to more and more cars every day there’s still plenty out there that only have wired CarPlay such my 2020 Hyundai Kona EV. I use CarPlay all the time and I do find it a bit of hassle plugging it in all the time so these wireless CarPlay adapters are brilliant. I actually bought the Carlinkit v2 adapter last year and it’s worked pretty well so I was intrigued to see what this could do.
Setup and config was pretty similar and I’m happy to report that this also works great. There is still a bit of audio lag but not enough to make it a major issue. Boot up time wise, it’s maybe a little faster but it’s hard to tell because it can vary from one time to the next. If you do get one of these, bare in mind that they’re not perfect, you will occasionally have to reboot them and they work much better at cooler temperatures. So in the summer when you’re car is out in the sun and it get’s hot, they can get a little unstable when you first try to use them but they soon cool down and start working. This only happens occasionally but worth bearing in mind.
Other than it works well and if you’re going to get one you might as well go for this newer one as the 5Ghz WiFi should offer a more stable connection to your phone.
We’ve tried a couple of Carplay adaptors before without much success, so were sceptical about this one; however, it’s turned out to be a good thing. It’s quite easy to install, and once it’s working, responds quickly and accurately to commands. Very pleased.
his CarPlay wireless adapter is very easy to set up, it works as soon as you plug it in and it improves the CarPlay experience a lo
I worried about this purchase before it came thinking I should of ordered the U2-now -definitely made the right choice—there’s no difference at all —just the appearance and a lower price -thinking about maybe another one – my car is a 2019 Honda Fit —very very easy setup that anyone can do.we will see how it performs on long trips -hopefully it stay connected —go ahead BUY it.
This car play adaptor is very specific to certain cars and apple handsets so do check at least twice that you car and apple handset are compatible.
Very easy set up, appears well made and offers crystal clear voice quality, appears very sturdy, clear instructions and set up.
you don’t ahve to ahve ytour phone out on a air vent holder for it to connect (once you have saved the bluetooth connection) I learnt this the hard way driving along shouting at the traffic lights and stalled the car when I heard voices talking to me lol, true story.
The unit may seem expensive but this is a investment and if like me you spend a lot of time travelling for work or social reasons you will bebenfit from this adaptor, it’s very small in fact you wouldn’t really notice it so do be careful where you place this so you don’t accidently throw it out.
Bought a new car with wired-only CarPlay. What a hassle connecting iPhone with a cable every trip then forgetting and leaving phone in the car. This device is on the pricey side but the set up was simple and so far (1 week in) it works seemlessly every time, with Carplay connecting with no significant delay (it’s ready when I am). I don’t understand why all cars which offer Carplay don’t do so wirelessly and maybe they will eventually. In the meantime, this device is worth the investment. I bought it because I noticed other buyers said it worked for Kia. My vehicle: Kia Xceed.
Very easy setup and no issues. Recently rented a new car with wireless airplay, this works just as seamlessly
Normally I don’t use CarPlay in my car as I don’t like having cables around when I am driving.
Also I don’t want to spend time plugging cables in my phone just before driving and unplugging cables after driving.
I decided to try this wireless adapter and I really happy that I did try it.
It was really easy to install it and get it connected with my phone and car.
It took just few minutes to get it set and since then everything works without issues.
The CarPlay adapter comes with really short USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable that you need to use to connect it to your car.
You will need to start the engine of your car to get your infotainment systems working and connect the CarPlay adapter.
After that you need to turn on the WiFi and Bluetooth on your phone.
If normally you have your Siri disabled, you will need to enable it as well.
From the Bluetooth menu of your phone, you need to find the device with the name shown on your infotainment systems.
You can see this on one of the pictures that I have uploaded.
When you connect to the Bluetooth of the CarPlay adapter ,your phone will get connected to the WiFi of the CarPlay adapter as well.
After both of them get connected to the CarPlay adapter, you will get the CarPlay menu of your phone on your car’s infotainment systems.
When you finish with this initial setup ,the CarPlay adapter works without issues.
You just need to make sure that both the Bluetooth and the WiFi of your phone are working and your phone with automatically connect to the CarPlay adapter.
If you need to use any navigation app from the CarPlay Menu ,you will also need to turn on Location Service on your phone.
The price of this Wireless CarPlay adapter is 127.00 at the moment ,which might look a bit expensive ,but for me it is worth it.
When I start the engine of the car, the CarPlay adapter gets connected to my phone and to the car and I don’t need to do anything else to make it work.
Hopefully my review was Helpful for you.
This review is for the Wireless CarPlay Adapter2021 New Upgrade Speed FasterOTTOCAST Apple CarPlay Wireless Adaptor.
A nice well made product. Allows you to get CarPlay a car which does not have it built in. I found it easy to setup and it worked seamlessly. Only thing was that you need a hidden place somewhere with a connection so it out the way. Gives a lot of functionality for the price. Would recommend.
Sound is flawless. It sounds more like the stock sound system that my car has. Unlike the cable which compresses the sound. It has some delay when it comes to calls. But I rather have great sound than have less delay. Maybe a software update will fixed the problem.
I’ve been using this for over a month or so and I have been very impressed with the performance. The pairing was so easy and fast! It took less than 2 minutes. My phone now connects to the car in less than one minute without fail. My husband is a mechanic and he says he doesn’t care what you drive, the car needs at least a minute or so to warm up and get the fluids distributed and by then CarPlay is ready to go. I hate fumbling in my purse or pocket for my phone and if I forget it inside the house, I know right away because I am not connected. There are a few cut outs and sometimes it freezes, but even without CarPlay my phone does that in valleys and hills anyway, so not a big issue. I have yet to find any other issue with this product. It is fairly small and fits nicely in the console without getting in the way. I may use two way tape to stick it on the side or under the dash. Overall, I am truly impressed with this device and highly recommended it.
I’ve been following these sorts of things for about a year, and this is the first one that I believed was polished enough for me to reach out and buy it. There isn’t any latency and the load time isn’t too long. The interface is quite basic, and it works correctly 95% of the time. If you’ve been holding out on purchasing one till you discovered one that wasn’t sluggish, this is certainly a decent one to acquire.
I like that this is super easy to use and install. It is just plug and play device. Works perfectly with my 2018 nissan rogue. It is super convenient for me now to connect my phone to my car. Definitely worth it for its price.
Highly recommended!
I have checked a few reviews and this particular one seams to be one if not the fastest on the market. My iPhone connects easily and reliably to it and I am able to access all the required music functions of the phone trough my car radio interface in a very easy way. The device is smaller than I expected but for sure in a positive way since it allows me to hide it easily.
But at 127 it is surely a bit expensive.
Easy to install and program. Works well. Slim design, doesn’t take much room in the car.
Very good design , small not to make a fuss, works for usb and usb c, 10 seconds to install , just connect and choose from Bluetooth menu on iPhone then it works as if the car is already equipped with wireless car play , the car does not read an external device , it converts completely to a wireless CarPlay car. Very good produc
It’s very easy to use as mentioned, just plug and play. It sure works well since it’s wireless connection so there is no need for wires to go around the car. Connection is quick with also fast responding time. Hope it works with Android auto too.
Once you’ve had a car with CarPlay it’s difficult to go without, as I found out a few months ago! This unit is a plug and play unit, it was up and running in a few minutes with no bother at all and no real experience needed. I think the CarPlay this provides works the same as the OEM version installed and although at times it can feel a tad slow at responding I’ve found this is the same with stock CarPlay so no issues for me personally.
I’ve used a few of these wireless carplay adapters at this point on several different vehicles (some borrowed) and I have been quite surprised by how well the adapters generally worked. For the most part, the experience is pretty seamless and after the fairly easy initial setup, our iPhone will connect seamlessly.
Installation is so easy. Literally just plugs in.
Music and navigation worked pretty flawlessly with calls being a little hit or miss with occasional dropping that I hesitate to attribute to this adapter since calls do sometime drop on the phone itself and the rest of the functionality of the adapter feels solid.
Wireless CarPlay adapter works well once you get it set up. This does exactly what it says it will, I do find the price a little much, but I suppose it depends on how much you want your wireless Apple Carplay .
– settled on this device after much research and deliberation
– things that i looked at prior to purchase were detachable wire and this being the fastest to connect
– after using it for a month or so i have some thoughts
– mostly it is very positive
– pairing was hassle free and took around 2 mins in total
– my phone connects to the car in under one minute every single time without fail
– this is the same time it takes me to sit down in the car and put my seat belt on and start committing to driving off. By the time i have done this is its connected
– not a fan of the UI
– on occasion i do get , pauses, chewbacca noises. Does it disturb that particular instant? Yes. Does it disturb the whole experience that this device brings? No.
– it is not perfect. If its perfection You’re looking for look for wired connection.
– had my whole system freeze up entirely for 5 mins but only on one occasion
Overall i would recommend this device 🙂
This is such a handy product! It works well for cars that have factory wired CarPlay (2016-2022 years). The phone must be iPhone. I recommend you check that before purchasing.
It worked with our 2017 Ford focus and my work iPhone. Installation was super fast and since then it connects automatically to that phone when I enter the car. It’s brilliant. It plays music fine and without delays or issues. You can change the music through the touch screen of your car or through the controls on the steering wheel.
It is slightly pricey but it will make your life easier.
Wireless CarPlay Adapter2021 New Upgrade Speed FasterOTTOCAST Apple CarPlay Wireless Adapter for Wired CarPlay Cars Year after 2016Auto Connect Plug & Play Carlink CarPlay Dongle for iPhone U2-NOW.
This is so good that I can play the music from my phone in the car!
It works very well and exactly as described with no issues!
The phone has got to be iPhone, won’t work with others.
My husband set this up, it automatically connected quickly and efficiently….. Basically it’s plug and Play.
The sound quais excellent with no distortion, I like bass which this has plenty of….. I’m pleased it’s not a tinny sound!
I can highly reccomend this, yes it’s expensive but these are expensive, the others I’ve seen on the market with the same functions cost around the same price as this!… So price I’d say is average.
It’s well made and if a decent durable quality.
SIMPLY PLUG IN AND PLAY APPLE WIRELESS ADAPTER, ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH PHONES WITH IOS 10 OR OFFER AND WIRED PLAY CARS FROM 2016. QUICK PAIRING THROUGH BLUETOOTH TO ENABLE CONNECTION BETWEEN ADAPTER AND PHONE. CONTROL YOUR MUSIC AND PHONE VIA YOUR CAR COMPUTER WITHOUT THE NEED TO TOUCH YOUR PHONE.
This wireless carplay adapter doing very good job in my car, It is very useful there. It support for voice assistant and this is very inteligent assistant, can assist you to drive, ensure your driving safety. There is built in 5Ghz chip which has faster reaction speed and higher performance. Has a day and night mode which is very helpful especially at night, and this automatically turn on. Support online upgrade report issues. It can be used in over 600 different car models, works perfect in my Honda civic.
This is very simple and easy to use product, just plug and play.
You can enjoy the convenience with this very good technology product.
Great quality adapter I have to say.
Recommend.
***UPDATE***
Not sure what changed, but I’ve been able to get this to work with my iPhone 13! I tried setting this up fresh in my wife’s toyota corolla, and was able to get this to pair to my phone without any issues. I took this back to my golf and have been using it since. Not quite sure what did it, but just glad that it works now. With a bit more regular use, I’ve actually found the shortcomings I mentioned in my original review have not been as problematic as I thought. I’ve found that the benefit and ease of use of a wireless carplay system greatly outweight the latency in phone calls and in entering commands as well. I’ve bumped this up one star

I’ve been quite happy with this apple carplay wireless adapter. It’s quick and easy to set up. I plugged this into my 2016 Volkswagen golf and it was instantly recognized. I was able to update the firmware as well with the included instructions. The carplay functionality is not quite the same as when it’s wired, but gets really close. There’s definitely a slightly delay anytime you input any commands e.g. when hitting skip track, volume adjustment or for voice contorl. This is particularly problematic with phone calls though, as the latency makes it very difficult to hold a proper conversation with the person on the other end. In addition to this, I found that this didn’t work with my iPhone 13 running ios 15. Works great with my iPhone 8 on ios 14. From my quick perusing online, it seems like other people have been able to use this with ios 15 beta no problem, so not sure if it’s an iPhone 13 issue? Overall this is a solid option if you’re primarily listening to music and don’t mind the latency. If you regularly take phone calls or use an iPhone 13, I’d recommend you stick to your wired carplay.
A great way to manage and play media from your phone through your in car system. It’s a lightweight bit of kit and won’t take up much space on your dash. Connects to your phone without any trouble and makes it easier to sort songs to play in the order you want. Might be a bit on the pricey side, but I rarely see any of these type of units for much less, so it is still worth getting.
Since this is 5G compatible, I was interested to see if this was up to par in terms of connectivity and sound. So far the quality has been second to none, With clear crisp sound and a thundering bass to match. I have been using it for a while, And it has maintained a good connection, With no issues with drops in the connection.
Although there are cheaper car adaptors available for cars that have no wireless technology, This does have some perks that older and cheaper models don’t have, Such as a faster playback of music with better quality sound.
It’s been relatively easy to install and seems to be self-explanatory.
Amazing little device from OTTOCAST which makes your Apple CarPlay wireless. I used this on my Mercedes E Class 2019 and it worked straight away. All I had to do was connect my iPhone to the bluetooth and within seconds it was all setup. Works very smooth and highly recommend to anyone who is looking to use their Apple CarPlay wirelessly.
So far i like the unit. The only issue i have is i received a used unit, it was definitely a return as there is some other persons profile that shows on the screen when it boots up. not sure how to remove it either. 🙁
Hey all, I have been testing the product for two days now for longer periods of time. So far it works as advertised. I use it in my 2020 Honda Civic (Executive) and by the time the Honda system starts up (plus about 2-3 sec), its already signed in and showing the navigation and also resuming music.
So far I have less issues with this than with direct connection (using genuin apple cable). I had issues with the cable that Waze come on grainy, however this also seams to be resolved. Music quality for me is just as “good” as before (Honda speakers ain’t the greatest). According to the experience so far, I can highly recommend. For me definitely worth the extra cash for this product.
I was very skeptical when I purchased this, but it works as advertised. My only nitpick is that there is a slight delay with changing songs or using Siri, but other than that it works like a charm. I can highly recommend this product. This device was used in a 2016 Honda Civic.
Installation was super easy. I paired it with my iPhone 12 and it works like a treat. I even upgraded the firmware even though the instructions advise not to 🙂
TL;DR – If you’re on the fence about this device and want wireless CarPlay, other than the slight delay it works just fine and gets the job done.
Having to plug my phone in every time I wanted to use CarPlay has always been inconvenient, so this product definitely has made my life easier. My wife also loves being able to connect her phone without having to dig it out of her purse, so this also has the wife approval factor.
Setup was very easy, it truly is plug and play. I plugged it into the USB port on my car and it told me to connect to the bluetooth network listed on screen. Once I had connected, it was installed in seconds and I was good to go. Subsequent connections have been just as fast, barely slower than the wired version. But when you consider time taken to find my phone and connect it, the difference is negligible.
Nice compact packaging with all things you might need to start. They have also provided a USB to USB C adapter if your car is equipped with a USB C connection. The Manual had very clear instructions. Within 2 minutes I was having wireless carplay. It automatically reconnects to CarPlay once you start the car with the phone inside the car. I was able to go to the given IP address on the manual to update to the latest firmware which was quite easy and quick.
It’s very compact so we can easily hide in the middle compartment and doesn’t take much space so now I don’t have wires hanging around and I only take out the one when I need it to charge my phone. All the apps were very snappy and I didn’t feel it is wirelessly connected. I’m also able to use the dictation in the iPhone without any issue as well as the voice command on apps like Google maps.
Tip: When you connect the cable to charge your phone, the car display is going to ask if you want to start carplay from your phone(new CarPlay connection via cable)? Press Cancel so wireless connection doesn’t interrupt for any reason. I have also gone into Bluetooth settings and forget car Bluetooth connection so that it doesn’t interfere for any reason.
Since getting my Kia Stinger two years ago my biggest bug-bear has been having to plug in my phone to use Apple CarPlay. I always forget and start driving then realise I haven’t connected my phone so have to stop, connect it, then get going again. How I wished for a wireless connection.
The Ottocast Wireless CarPlay Adapter is the perfect solution. It is so easy to set up for cars with wired CarPlay only. I followed the instructions and I had it connected to my car within a couple of minutes.
Now I just get in my car with my phone in my pocket and when I start it CarPlay is ready and waiting within about 20 seconds. That is quicker than me fiddling with the cable to get it plugged into my phone and then waiting for it to connect.
All of the CarPlay functionality is there exactly as it is when wired. I did see somebody mention issues with navigation but I haven’t had any such issues. I’ve tried it with Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze and all work seamlessly. When there are directions the music volume is reduced and the instructions can be heard loud and clear.
It would be helpful if reviewers said what car they have tried it with so at least people have an idea which ones have issues and which not.
If you have wired CarPlay in your car this is definitely a worthwhile investment.
I’ve bought two, for a Honda Civic and Nissan Altima, and it works as advertised. Super easy set up and makes everything wireless just like I wanted. There’s a about a second delay when performing any action and it sometimes glitches out if you have too many things running and you take/make a call. But for the most part it runs smoothly and doesn’t have enough issues for me not to love it.
