A fantastic, sort of vintage looking light which is robust and works well it adjustable PIR sensor and comes complete with a bulb.
It’s quite big, which I didn’t anticipate but with that gives off a somewhat regal look with its size.
It’s easy to fit with all the basic affixing’s supplied and easy for an electrician to wire up.
My main issue with it, there is no cover for the bottom through where the bulb is accessed.
Not that the bulb will be stolen, but spiders and moths easily congregate there creating a messy look which needs cleaning frequently. I don’t know why it was designed without.
I am looking to see if I can get some clear Perspex to make a panel and as the bulb is LED its low heat, so shouldn’t be a problem.
Overall a nice PIR wall lantern with that one flaw, with decent quality and paint finish, which should last a few years looking smart.
This is really a most excellent wall light. It is well made, sturdy and being made of Aluminium, corrosion resistant. All its functions of brightness, motion detection range and timing are easily adjustable.
Fitting is simple as the light is positioned over small projecting bolts that are fixed to a mounting plate that you fix to the wall with supplied plugs and screws. The lamp is designed to fit over the cable exit from the wall it is being put on but, in my case as the power cable (which does not need to be heavy duty) was running along a brick wall, it was convenient to drill a small hole in the back plate for the side cable entry.
The bulb is easily accessible through the open bottom of the lantern but I imagine the bulbs will last a very long time. Insects, of course, are attracted to any light and it has occurred to me that some may find their way onto the inside of the glass. The opening is easily large enough to put a hand inside and remove any insects but in the unlikely event of it becoming a problem a piece of fine gauze could easily be put across the bottom opening.
All in all, an excellent buy which I can fully recommend.
I bought two of these and they look splendid to me and most importantly, to my wife also.
What drew me to this outdoor light, other than the stylish look, is that you can replace the bulb from underneath. There’s no bottom on the light so it’s just a case of reaching your hand up from the bottom to remove and replace the bulb. My old light had a lid you had to remove to change the bulb and being out in the elements made the screws to open and close it, seize up. In the end, I had to smash the lid to change the bulb which was the beginning of the end for that light. This one, in contrast, is much more user-friendly and I feel it will last longer as there’s no parts that will seize that will stop me changing the bulb.
Installing the light is relatively easy and you definitely don’t need a lot of experience or DIY knowledge to be able to fit it. With that said, you do need some knowledge as the instructions are basic in terms of the electrics. You will need a drill to be able to attach the baseplate to the wall but other than that, a screwdriver is all you really need.
The most difficult part of the installation was when attaching the light to the baseplate. First, you need to secure the wires into the connector block with a screwdriver while holding the light in place. Then you can pop the light on the baseplate and secure it in place. If you’ve got a ladder that goes right under your light, you can rest the light on that while you work. Unfortunately, my light is a the top of some stairs and I can’t get my ladder right underneath due to the restricted landing area. So some contorting and quite dangerous leaning, twisting and praying was needed to free up both my hands while still holding the light. Might have been easier with two people but there are not always people to spare!
Once you’ve connected the wires, it’s fairly simple – if not necessarily easy – to align the light with the screws on the baseplate then add on the connectors to keep the light in place. It’s not 100% secure to the wall but that is probably completely down to my DIY skills or lack thereof.
When in place, it looks really nice while also being subtle. I notice it but it’s not in your face, which I like. You get a light bulb with it – but it’s just a standard lightbulb that you need. The light is bright and throws a nice distance due to the glass surrounds.
My only issue with this light isn’t really about the light, but rather about whether this is the right light for my – and your – space. The sensor for this light is at the top of the unit. To get to my front door, you come in my gate off the street, along the path then there are 4 or so steps to get you to my front door. With just those added 4 steps, the sensor is doesn’t ‘see’ people coming up the path. It clearly sees people walking on the pavement but standing on my path and the light stays off. That’s not a negative on the light but I have to deduct a star as it is related to the design and ultimate suitability of the light. So please be sure that the sensor will be suitable for your purposes, or be prepared to position your light about shoulder height if your door is up some steps.
To change the settings of timings of the light, when it goes off or stays on (there are 3 pre-programmed options to choose from) and the sensitivity of the sensory, is fairly simple. You need a mini screwdriver (like a glasses screwdriver) to turn the little dials. Thankfully, the instructions clearly show you where each dial is and which way to turn to get your desired result. Just be sure to block your eyes from the light as you go to change the dials!
This is a really good light and if it fits your style and the sensor area is suitable, then I’d happily recommend it to you. It’s easy to fit, looks lovely and works well. The build quality is excellent and I have no fears that it will succumb to the elements like my previous, less expensive lights. Dropping a star just to remind others to check the sensor positioning but it’s still an excellent product.
A high-quality outdoor light in black metal and glass, with something of a Georgian air to it. It’s over 16 inches high and very imposing looking. The classic looks though, incorporate a PIR motion sensor which can be set to three modes: Auto turn on at night and off in the daytime.: Auto Mode: Auto turn on to 100% brightness when motion is detected at dusk, auto-off after 60 seconds without detecting the movement and Auto+ Mode: Auto turn on at 0~50% brightness at dusk, turn to 100% brightness when motion-detecting.
I think this might make a nice choice as outdoor lighting for a townhouse-style home, particularly if bought as a pair. They are quite expensve, but they look very classy and work well.
This was very easy to install using the good easy to follow instructions. The light has different brightness to suit. Sensor works very well. Looks great.
These look really modern and stylish, I was pleasantly suprised by the build quality of these for the price although i did have to double check upon arrival as i assumed it was a pack of two but only one is supplied.
I particularly like that they are motion-activated as most outdoor lights unless they’re specifically security light don’t always have this feature so it’s a huge bonus that this is built in and you can use it as either normal garden lighting or for that extra bit of security as well. They’re really bright and cover a wide area of the garden which reduced the amount of these that you need to cover full garden, which is great because they’re a little expensive if you were to end up needing 5 or 6 for the whole space.
They plug into the mains so take a little assembly but they really aren’t difficult to install, didn’t take much time at all once i’d planned where to put them.
Overall a great product that looks way more expensive than it was, would reccommend for sure.
I got this wall light to replace a globe wall light, I think the globe light was illuminating the sky more than my front pathway.
This large rectangle shaped light looks great on the corner of our house, its bright enough to light the driveway and pathway but doesn’t stay on too long to annoy the neighbours. It has three sensors setting, dusk to dawn, motion detecting — off/on full brightness, and motion detecting — low brightness/full brightness. I’m using the off/on motion detecting, I think this is the best to illuminate the area for a short period and to deter any unsavoury characters.
The aluminium light is nicely finished in black, and fitted with fairly large reinforced tempered clear glass. Illumination is provided using an E27 LED bulb of which a 60W equivalent is supplied. All this comes securely packed in a thick cardboard box and plenty of thick polystyrene.
Overall, this is a good quality and lovely looking outdoor wall light. With this various lighting options, I personally think this is well worth the 59.99 at the time of review.
Ala
This outdoor wall light from NYQU can provide a wide illumination to light up the house.
The light has a combined PIR and IC sensor that can sense motion within the distance range of up to 40FT with a detection angle of up to 180-degree. It comes with an E27 LED light bulb and has a modern lantern design that would definitely look good on your wall. It has 3 lighting modes—first is PC Mode, wherein it will automatically turn on at night and will automatically turn off in the daytime; second, Auto Mode wherein it will automatically turn on the 100% brightness of the light when a motion is detected and will automatically turn off after 60 seconds and lastly, Auto+ Mode wherein it will automatically turn on at dusk at 0-50% brightness and turn to 100% when motion is detected.
Moreover, this wall lamp is made of reinforced tempered glass and high-quality aluminium which Is waterproof, corrosion-resistant and weather resistant making it ideal for outdoor use. To install this, make sure to install the light atleast 6.5FT above the ground. Take note that it needs 20 to 30 seconds to do self-testing just to make sure that the light functions well.
I put this wall light on our gate post and for my first impression, it looks so much better than the plastic wall lights that I have since it is metal and has a good overall finish too. The light is easy to install, I used some screws and plugs so they will not fall off over time. The light is also bright, as expected. I just wish that this one is solar powered so it is much easier to install especially for those who are not really into electrical works.
Overall, the wall light seems to work really good so far and the price is truly reasonable considering its quality, features and design. I would definitely recommend this rather than those that are made of plastic.
A very large outdoor security light. The motion sensor element works really well and this was equally easy to install by our front door. A good quality product that works well as we hoped it would. You can have it so it turns on as soon as it gets dark or as a security light that turns on when it senses motion. It was well packaged and arrived very quickly
I ordered this to replace the solar motion sensor light which was not bright enough for my drive. It is well made and feels strong and sturdy. It is mains powered but still energy effective due to its auto features. I select the auto+ option: auto turn on at 0~50% brightness at dusk, turn to 100% brightness when motion-detecting. The sensing distance, illumination time and brightness can be adjusted according to your personal needs. It comes with a E27 bulb but I am using a dimmable bulb instead.
The light looks great, bright with good coverage.
I was really surprised when I opened the well packed box, because I was not expecting a big light. The whole frame is almost 40 cm long. The metallic part of the frame is made of good quality material and the glass is described to be tempered glass so would survive few knocks if it comes to do that.
The three modes would meet most of the needs one has with an outdoor light. I am planning to use the dawn to dusk setting, I have not installed the light yet but tested the setting and it works fine.
Right now it is priced at 59.99 with extra 10% voucher which to me looks like a good price for this good quality outdoor light.
This is great for adding a bit of light to my patio, as well as acting as a deterrent for intruders with the motion sensor aspect.
It does require some in installation to the mains, which I can’t comment on as I had a friend fit it for me.
The frame feels of good quality with a metal frame and black finish.
It comes with an E27 bulb included and the brightness is pretty good.
All in all, it’s a good outdoor light, but perhaps a bit on the expensive side at 59.99, which was the price at time of writing.
I hope you found this review helpful.
A very nice bright light, easy to install, looks very nice and modern, great against all weathers, love that it lightens up most of the garden, small and blends in with the colour of the house, waterproof and strong material, packed very well. Definitely recommend. Gives a very warm and welcome feeling when seeing this upon entry to the house!
