Having read a few bad reviews concerning the sound emitted I can categorically say that having received my new machine I was very surprised at how quiet it is. I was also amazed at how quickly it produced ice after following all instructions on first time usage. Super-easy to set-up. Controls are intuitive. Draining and cleaning after use was a breeze. Within a few hours I had many bags of perfectly formed ice ready for my drinks. A great machine.

We love our new ice maker… it’s small enough to move from room to room or have it outside when you’re having friends over for drinks in the garden. It makes ice super quickly and so long as you use fresh water in the tank… it tastes FAB! All good and we would highly recommend it!
Only just acquired do to early to really judge , previous experience tells me these type of machines don’t last long
Hopefully , for a few pounds more , this might be different

This works far better than I could of imagined and I never have to buy ice again. Given that this not plumbed in it does a great job with two litres of water. I always leave on and always have 2kg of ice to hand. Very simple to use and the stainless steel looks professional. I use it for a home bar and have the space for it. If you are space restricted you may want to look for something else.
Wow what more can I say it’s fantastic not noisy and delivered fast from ordering and fantastic company to deal with I asked a couple of questions to the supplier and they got back to me within the hour so pleased

I bought this after seeing a friend had it. So easy to use. I gave it a clean with lemon juice and run it for 24hrs with lemon juice then rinsed and with water.
No funny taste.
My parents now want it too.

I very rarely leave reviews (pls check my profile) although spending 1,000.00’s on Amazon but felt compelled to recommend the Polar Counter Top Ice Maker. This is my second Polar counter unit, after several years I felt it was time to replace my first. Once again this little device has not failed to impress me. I leave it operating 24/7 (+2 years) turning it off for holidays and once every two months to give it a quick clean and not once have I had an issue or noticed a drop in performance. People will ask about noise, fair enough, and all can say is yes there is a low ‘hum’ when the unit is making the ice and of course a plink plonk when the ice drops into the basket, no more or less than any other unit I presume. Cannot recommend this unit more.
If you like ice you need this. 3 sizes of cubes I don’t know how I managed without it. Just fill it with water press the button and sit back.

Great ice machine for use in a domestic or light use retail setting. Looks smart and produces great size ice cubes perfect for a gin and tonic.

We noticed we were buying lots of ice so decided to invest in a machine and this is perfect.
The ice is made quickly which allows you to bag it up and freeze as it doesn’t stay frozen in the basket for hours.
The only thing I would say is the motor is noisy so best kept in a utility room or garage. All in all very happy with this ice machine.

This whacks the ice out once it gets going. Had an andrew james model which packed up after 18 months and went for this. Like chalk and cheese in build quality and the difference in price seems justified. A bit bigger but you can just tell it is well made.
My first semi industrial ice machine.
Having already burnt out 3 ice machines in a couple of years. This has fewer high tech features so fewer potential problems to go wrong.
After 6-1/2 years I’ve just ordered my second Polar ice machine. The first has given up but I think it’s only the water pump. I cleaned it every month…slightly soapy water and a toothbrush is useful. I rinsed and sterilised it as well (Milton). Over the time I found that run the cold tap to give it a head start. Take the basket out and leave it to re-circulate for an hour to get really cool. It can’t cope in the high summer sun. If I purchased 2 x 2kg bags of ice a week at 1 = 104 per year = 676 cost minus my elec bill. I’m sure I’m in front by a long way. I just hope the new one lives up to my expectations!
However, it’s really only for use at a party while people are consuming, or for novelty value.
Its actually very very labour intensive, to make a few pounds of ice, you have to constantly nurse-maid the thing for like 10 hours. Utterly useless in that respect as you have to keep putting small batches of ice-cubes in the freezer every 5-10 minutes.
Don’t bother. Just buy 5-10 regular plastic ice-trays, freeze those, bang out those cubes in 5 minutes and your’e done, or even just buy ice from the supermarket. You could buy a mountain of ice for this money.

An excellent machine worth the money. Its not noisy. Its easy to use. You have a choice of cube sizes. if you follow the instructions and discard the first few batches of ice, the ice tastes fine.
This works well for me we now have a constant supply of ice in the house. I would have liked slightly bigger ice cubes but the large size this produces is more than acceptable. It is a bit noisy at start up but it quietens down after a few minutes. Also be aware that if the power supply is cut to the machine that you need to re-set the size selection otherwise all your cubes which are in the machine will melt. These are really minor issues and I have to say I like it a lot.

if you plan to buy this, I would suggest putting it in another room where you don’t have to listen to it making noise.

After a year and a bit this bad boy is still going strong. I couldn’t live without it now. Hasn’t stopped producing since I bought it. Keeps up with my constant Gin Drinking Marathons and is just the best Fricking thing on the planet. Love it…

This ice maker has replaced a larger whirlpool ice maker which after 30 years service proved to be unrepairable. So far after about a months use the polar machine has worked flawlessly, and was easy to set up . Let’s hope for another 30 years.

Delivered 3 days early, works a treat, great taste and if you use (fully cooled down) boiled water you get clear ice cubes. Great investment and saves lugging ice home from supermarkets. Highly recommended.

I can now make a batch of ice in one day and not worry about going to the freezer and finding none left.
First ice is made in 12 minutes (large cubes), so if i have run out in the freezer, its not long before i can have enough for a cold drink.
Was really apprehensive as never bought an ice machine before & had read loads of reviews on others. I took the plunge & went with the Polar & not disappointed. A little large but found a spot for it & it’s not in the way at all. Noise level not to bad although when ice drops it can make u jump! Ice cubes perfect , I tend to bag some up saves me using it more regularly & saves me running up shop as always forgot the ice! A good buy & so far so good , really pleased .
Nice machine. Costs about 35p per week to leave on continuously, if using a lot of ice. Turn it off if you go away for a very long time. Here’s how it works…
1) Makes ice until it breaks the beam, or the water runs out.
2) The ice slowly melts (unrefrigerated but insulated storage).
3) When the beam is un-broken more ice is made.
4) Repeats.
If your’e anything like me you’ll love having loads of ice on tap. Quick iced coffees, iced water, etc. However, next time I upgrade my fridge I’ll go for one with a built-in ice-maker.

excellent product, does exactly what it says on the tin, however as we have only had it a month I cannot comment on its reliability or longevity.
We have purchased and installed several of these ice makers and they are probably the best value products of this type and so easy to install.
Great Value from Nisbets hope you sell many at this price as opposed to less at a greater price. Nice to see an item priced so reasonably in comparison to other suppliers – it must be noted. Unit is working well and is ideal for people without the patience to make ice in a traditional way….just like me. 5 deserved stars.
We had this item for over three years before we renewed . It was on daily for approx 4/5 hours making lots of ice. Easy to use , easy to clean , a little noisy but not too bad. Would definitely recommend this item.
I bought this model for the boat, brilliant! I buy those cheap 4L bottles of water from the supermarket and pour in half at a time. Nice fresh ice cubes every time.
Cleaning it is a bit of a pain, as there isn’t any drain, but if i’m leaving it for a long period of time I run milton fluid (baby bottle cleaner) through it and mop out the reservoir with paper towels.
Very good and easy to use. But It’s not as fast as I expected and there is no power button so I need to unplug from the wall every time I stop using it. But It works fine and its not so noisy as I read in some reviews. I’m happy with it so far.
It does everything it supposed to do and left on and topped up will definately supply a constant supply of conical ice cubes (rather a contradiction in terms but couldn’t think of another word for cube that was round!) It is so efficient that a small to medium pub or wine bar would be well supplied.
One thing that is not mentioned anywhere in the blub for the machine, is that you can make flavoured ice lumps and the best thing to do is buy squashes. Make up the solution to taste in a jug and pour in the resevoir. After making the flavoured ice, fill up with clean water and make more ice lumps until they are regular water ice again.
After use and certainly if you won’t be using it for a while, get as much of the water out via the drain tube and leave the lid open until everything is completely dry.
In Summary: Good price for such an efficient, professional machine. Some noise in operation and also very heavy.
Bought this for holiday rental overseas. Tried it out and was impressed, the small size is plenty big enough, and only takes a few minutes for the first lot to pop up. A little awkward to empty water that is left in after use, might be worth just letting it use all the
water and switching itself of, can always pop the ice cubes in frezeer.
People always ask my daughter where and how much did she pay for it. She always says its a blessing to have someone like my mother.She would not be able to buy it.She complements it every day that she does not have to buy the ice. If she has to recommends it to anyone she would do so.

I’m very peased with my ice maker. It makes ice very quickly and is a great addition to my new kitchen. Had tried to buy an American fridge freezer but when it didnt fit through the door i bought the ice maker instead. It is a bit noisey but that doesn’t bother as its a small price to pay.
I usually buy shop bought ice. This Ice maker saved me a considerable amount of money and I had ice cubes ready made when I needed them. The whole machine looked really classy in my kitchen, although it did seem very large when it was unpacked.
The size of the ice cubes are really good, meduim and large are the best size to go with. It does take a bit of time to start the process of making ice cubes but it is worth the wait. Great for last minute parties. I would recommend this machine.
What it doesn’t do is make really cold ice – that won’t be any kind of problem for most people, but if you are making cocktails you probably want it as cold as possible. I just tend to transfer the made ice to the freezer compartment to cool down those extra few degrees, whilst the ice straight from the machine is fine for chilling glasses etc. The machine produces a reasonable amount of ice – enough to keep up with the prolific amount I will use if a few friends and I are having an evening “testing” new cocktails.
The machine is fascinating to watch in action, so can provide excellent entertainment if there’s nothing much on TV. What will be a downside for some people is that it is quite noisy in operation – the cooling fan runs most of the time and is, for sake of reference, probably a bit noisier than a typical bathroom extractor fan. Not a problem for me nor, I expect, most people, but worth bearing in mind if you are particularly sensitive to such things.
All in all, I’m extremely happy with my purchase and would certainly recommend this machine.
I only wish the ice could be kept frozen once it is made, it does melt back into the machine through the slats in the ice bucket so no need to empty… you just have to start over.
